Is this a 4 or 4s? What is the model number on the back? If its A1431 or A1387, it is a 4s, and does indeed have a sim tray. A1349 or A1332 will indicate an iphone 4.

Ok, I purchased new phones... and hooked up the iphone 4 to the computer without knowing that my husband hadn't synced his iphone in like a year ( yeah, yeah, I know, you are supposed to keep that updated). Anyway, so his new iphone has basically nothing on it from his iphone 3g. So I restored the iphone 4 to new... and then plugged his 3g into the computer-- it required a software update to 4.2 or whatever it is now. So I do that and then wait for like 20 mins and now it is asking me to put a valid sim card into the phone so that it can activate it???? Well that phone no longer has a valid sim card as the sim card has been transferred to the 4 and now I only get that screen. Is there no way to make this a touch now? I'm so confused... ... so please someone help me... because I think my husband may kill me since he was perfectly happy with his 3. LOL....

The 3G and iPhone4 use different size SIM cards, so the only way to move the SIM from the 3G to the 4 would be to physically cut it down to the correct size.
If the original SIM is still in the device, then it sounds like the device is carrier locked and was hacked to allow it to be used with a different carrier.
For future reference, there is no requirement to upgrade the iOS on the device in order to sync. -
Nokia N8 asks for Sim Card and continues to restar...
I have had my Nokia N8 for about 3 months, and have had no problems until the last few days when it will ask to insert a sim card (when it is already inserted) and it will do a restart for no apparent reason?
Has anyone had this problem??From my observation, this happens when you either want to make a call or send a message.
It seems to tally with was recorded in the log file admin***.txt under MailForExchange directory under phone Memory.
It will show either DiskFull or roaminevent or profile does not exist or ignoring roamin event.
My suspicion is, this is software issue as this happens even with a new sim card.
The network coverage availability software function seems to be buggy...
I am using Nokia N8 with Phone memory at 38.6mb
Its a pity as otherwise the N8 has been superb

If there is no SIM card, insert one from the carrier to whom the device is locked.
As for unlocking the device, only the carrier to whom it is locked can unlock it. -

You cannot return to previous state. The update re-locked the iPhone
to the original carrier. You must contact the original carrier to see if
they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Be advised that if your iPhone had previously been hacked/modified/
jailbroken to work with other than original carrier, it may be impossible

Can I swap out a iPhone 4 sim card into a iPhone 5 with the same carrier?
Here is the situation. I used to have Sprint as my personal cellphone carrier and just had bought an iPhone 5 when my employer put me on a business cellphone plan that they pay for. They bought one of the bargain basement original iPhone 4 handsets (not to be confused with the 4S) for employees to use, also on the Sprint network. The phone is owned by them; the plan is paid for by them. We just get to use it. As a result, I decided to just close out my personal cellphone account, even though it was a better phone. I used my 64GB iPhone 5 as my iPod, it worked great for music, apps, books, etc that I needed, and I just used the 8GB iPhone 4 just for phone calls and text messages.
Well recently, with the 5C and 5S being released, I wanted to know if the iPhone 4 could be upgraded by my employer to a new handset, preferably a 32 GB 5C or a 16 GB 5S. My employer has been slow to respond, because there are so many employee accounts to weed through and most are perfectly fine with an older phone. I am not, because the new operating system is slower on an iPhone 4 than an iPhone 5.
I want to ask my employer if its possible to get the SIM card from the iPhone 4 just swapped out into the iPhone 5. Is that possible? I understand that there is a size difference in the SIM cards. Is this something I could do myself, just pop it out and pop it in in the new handset? Or is this something that will require going to my employer to do, or to a Sprint store and have them do it? Do I have to be concerned with warranties being voided if I want to do this? (Keep in mind the iPhone 4 is my EMPLOYER's property, and they pay the bill as well. No, iPhone 4/4S uses micro-sim and iPhone 5/5C/5S uses nano-sim. -

Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID? -
This is so frustrating! I have an itunes store account, etc. I lost all my info when I had to "restore" my iphone.
I wasn't able to do the "restore" until recently, gosh it was about 6mos or more ago when my iphone died...
So, as I get older I am having memory problems and haven't been able to access my itunes account.
Obviously when I did the "restore" on my iphone I lost all my info with it... So, wanting to use my iphone for
music, games, etc. I had to create a new apple id, fine, but when I wanted to download a "free" app it says
my apple id hasn't been used with itunes so it keeps asking for credit card info.
I do not remember ever having to have a credit card before!
I am so frustrated... First it was not being able to access my account then having to create a new one, fine!
But now I can't download "free" content without credit card information!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! UGH!!!!!!!

For Android phones it is Google, and they will certainly want to know.

I want to put my sim card from my iPhone 4 into my husbands iPhone 4s, which he is not using. We have both backed up our phones on to our own computers. You do realize that the SIM only contains account information for your wireless account.
Moving the SIM from phone to phone does not cause any of your iTunes content, contacts, email, etc to magically appear on the device. -
