My question: Does anyone know if we face a bug ore some configuration issues ?
THX ! Woo

Hy Moo,
My question: Does anyone know if we face a bug ore some configuration issues ?It seems to be some kind of problem in the disk group configuration. You can verify it querying compatibility and database_compatibility fields from v$asm_diskgroup view.
As You should know, there are ASM new features that requires COMPATIBLE.ASM and COMPATIBLE.RDBMS attributes of the ASM diskgroup be set to at least Oracle 11.1. ( Fast Disk Resync is one example of it), maybe You are facing a configuration issue, not hitting a bug.
Hope it helps,
Cerreia

  • LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES, version 8.2, and supported client Flash versions

    Hello,
We are running Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES, Version 8.2.
We have a couple users that connect through IE (version 7) to create fillable forms.
Our companies standard version of Adobe Flash is 10.x
When we upgraded to 10.x, the users could no longer open (convert) a pdf to be able to make it fillable.  The fix was to down grade the Flash version to version 9.
Is there a better fix for this, as I have another user that requires access to the LiveCycle server but is running Flash 10, yet I would prefer not to downgrade them to Flash 9.
Hopefully the above explanation makes sense, as I am technical support versus being a LiveCycle user.
    Thanks!
    Chris

  • Podcasts and Video Issues With version 7.01.8

I had 7.0 but removed it and went back to version 6.04. When version 7.01.8 came out I went ahead and downloaded it and my first two songs I played started skipping again. The playback for my downloaded videos and podcasts still have the same problems in this version and 7.0 but not 6.04. The music is not in sync with any video and the music has too much static and erratic breaks. There is a raspy sound and distinct irregular sounds. My music library is playing fine now, though it started as if the problems weren't fix going from 7.0 to 7.01.8 but so far so good. I wish Apple would fix the video and podcast playback problems. I didn't have any problems with version 6.04 and I'm running a Dell Dimension 8200 with GeForce4 TI 4600 AGP Graphics Card. Anyone else have problems with podcast and videos with the this update?

have you worked through the possibilities from this document, Jerry?

  • TREX and ABAP-Client with SAP Web AS 6.40

    Hi!
We want to use the TREX in order to enhance the performance of our own business object searches within our ABAP engine. Therefore I've heard that from ABAP we can use the TREX to search for business objects residing in SAP ABAP stack tables.
Currently we are working with ECC500 and SAP Web AS 6.40.
Has anyone experiences in this area?
Are there any How-To-Guides or s.th. like that?
What is the Software Level prerequisite of SAP Web AS 6.40 Release/Support Package? Or do I need SAP Web AS 7.00?
Thanx for any hints and tips!
By the way: Posted this question in the ABAP forum and got exactly zero replies.
    Regards,
    Volker

    Hi Volker,
it would be better to upgrade to WAS 7.00.
There you could use the search engine service for business objects that was delivered with SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a751a1ec-0a01-0010-f0ba-89e4c5cd0261
This would be preferrable, as direct access to the TREX APIs is not officially supported. SES gives you all the methods you need for indexing and searching on ERP objects.

  • Stuttering and clipping distortion with version 7.02 (15)

I have been getting a lot of clipping distortion and stuttering in iTunes playback recently.
I have noticed that this occurs when the free ram is low (<40meg).
I have found that freeing up this category of memory, by using photoshop to open a big file and then quitting, seems to temporarily fix these issues.
I hope that this may be useful but if there are any more permanent suggestions, I would like to hear them.

  • SSGD 4.31.905 and Native Client with HTTPS and firewall forwarding

    Hi everyone.
I've just installed SSGD 4.31.905 on a SLES9/SP3 box and configured it as to use HTTPS connections only and firewall forwarding.
I managed to handle X509 certs as to avoid having confirmation requests on the screen on every access and everything is working fine.
Just a question: when I fire up a browser and try to connect to https://IP/sgd, the browser informs me about a potential security risk since I accessed a web server using its IP address instead of using its FQDN.
If I confirm the dialog box, access is granted and everything else works fine (and this is expected).
If I use the Native Client and try to access https://IP/tarantella, I got a "connection refused" message; if I change the URL as to read https://FQDN/tarantella, everything is fine.
So it seems the Native Client cannot connect to a secured SSGD server by using an IP/hostname differente from the one recored into the X509 cert.
    Is it expected or what?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Looks like the native client is less forgiving when it comes to certificates. Obviously, the best way to "resolve" this is to make sure that your client devices can resolve the FQDN of the SGD server.

  • Linux and Solaris Clients with password policy using LDAP

Anybody managed to get Linux (RHEL) and Solaris 9 Client authenticate against Sun Directory Server 5.2p4 using the same password policy?
For me it looks like Linux needs attribute shadowlastchanged set to display proper Warnings, that the password will expire/needs to be changed now. On the other hand Solaris (using pam_ldap) never writes this attribute, because it's using the password policy attribute pwdchangedtime.
    Hints very wellcome!
Can anybody confirm Solaris9 pam_unix still sets this shadow* attributes correct on any password change executed by a user?

    Hi Jeremy,
here the answers to your questions:
    >My question is which system takes precedence over the password policy?
Unfortunately there is no policy verification between the portal and your Sun One LDAP. So if you reset the password from the portal then only the portal password policies can be checked.
    >  If I wanted to do password resets from the Portal, does the portal then store only the password in its database?
No, the password will be stored in the LDAP, but only if it also corresponds with the LDAP policies. If not, then you will get an error, but you will not see the real LDAP exception.
    > Also what would then happen if you tried to reset the password from the LDAP?
The password in the LDAP does not have to fit to the Portal password policies. When you log in, the portal will only check if the password you tipped in is the new one in LDAP and will not check any policies.
Hope this brings some light in,
    Robert

  • MAC os X SnowLeopard and Lion integration with edir

    Hi,
I have been reading a bit on the subject as my MAC server is nearing it's end of life and I still have an OES 2 server in use (old OES sp1).
Does someone know what is in plans for MAC users regarding ease of use when logging in to a SLES/OES system in the future?
OES3 and Filr seems intresting, but will there be any help in the MAC integration?
Currently have a SBS 5 user license but don't want to deploy it until it's easier to manage/use with macs
Running SLES11+Groupwise8 on my MAC server virtually and it's a perfect combination.
Thinkin about virtualizing the new SBS when it's launched - any news on that?
I know Simon Flood is a specialist in this area with MACs - have you any insight?
    Sincerely,

Not sure what you mean by "OES 2 server in use (old OES sp1)", an OES2
server that was upgraded from original OES[v1] SP2 perhaps? OES2 SP3
(on SLES10 SP4) is latest available version and has (or will have once
the next Scheduled Maintenance patch comes out) improved AFP support for
    Mac OS X Lion.
Yes an OES2 sp1 server and have not had the need to update.
Want to do a fresh install when it's easier to implement in a all MAC enviroment
    > Does someone know what is in plans for MAC users regarding ease of use
    > when logging in to a SLES/OES system in the future?
Whilst I'd like to see Novell implement something in OES to make Mac
integration easier (I and others have had conversations) there's nothing
    currently planned.
Too bad. Do you recommend a third party product for that?
    > OES3 and Filr seems intresting, but will there be any help in the MAC
    > integration?
There is no OES3, OES11 is the next version.
OES11 will include support for DHX2 in the AFP protocol implementation
so there will be no need to configure each Mac client to use DHX[v1]
(this fix is also being backported to OES2 SP3 hence the earlier
reference to next OES2 SP3 Scheduled Maintenance patch). Other than
that it's the same as with OES2.
Filr is very interesting but doesn't help with Mac integration. There
will be an iOS client for iDevices but as it currently stands a Mac
client will follow in "version 2". Personally I'd like to see a Mac
client with version 1 but I'm assured Mac users will still be able to
    use Filr.
    > Currently have a SBS 5 user license but don't want to deploy it until
    > it's easier to manage/use with macs
SBS? Are you referring to Microsoft's or Novell's small business
solution? Hopefully the latter and you mean NOWS SBE perhaps?
Yes Nows SBE, sorry for the confusion
    > Running SLES11+Groupwise8 on my MAC server virtually and it's a perfect
    > combination.
    > Thinkin about virtualizing the new SBS when it's launched - any news on
    > that?
Which virtualisation product are you using on your Mac server
(presumably an Xserve)? Whilst I know it can be done I'm not aware of
anyone who is virtualising Novell solutions on an Apple server but then
    I don't get out much! ;-)
I'm currently using the VMware Fusion desktop product and it has been working flawless since the start
    one year ago.
Running all on a MAC mini server edition with 8GB ram and all data stored on a NAS attached to my mac via firewire.
For a small office with only 5 users this has proven to be a sufficient.
    > I know Simon Flood is a specialist in this area with MACs - have you
    > any insight?
I'm still around. Hopefully the above answers some questions but
    unfortunately asks more!
In the end I guess it all depends on what you want to achieve. Can you
have a user logging into a Mac authenticating against OES with the
user's home directory on an OES server. Yes sure and there is more than
one way to do it though the problem is support by Novell but we're
    working on that!
Thanks for your reply. I'll work slowly on this and if I have any questions I'll post back or start a new conversation.
    HTH.

The IAS 8i/9i which has the APACHE JSERV product embedded in it, comes with
Oracle's JSP engine (OJSP) already integrated into it. OJSP supports JSP's up
to the specific JSP engine version documented in the Oracle Universal
Installer (OUI) for the 8.1.7 RDBMS or the IAS products. It is also documented
    in the product's release notes.
    Oracle ENTERPRISE JAVA ENGINE (EJE)
The EJE formerly known as :
    1) Oracle 8i Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
    2) JSERVER component,
    3) Aurora JVM
was originally releas ed in the RDBMS 8.1.5 database with jdk 1.1.6 based java
    support.
The currently supported versions of the Oracle 8i RDBMS, versions 2 and 3,
also known as Version 8.1.6 and 8.1.7, respectively, provides a jdk 1.2.1
    based java virtual machine support.
    "EJE" Version 816
This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.6 and IAS 8i, contains support for the ejb
api 1.0, corba, and java stored procedures.
    "EJE" Version 817
This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.7 and IAS 9i, contains support for the ejb,
corba, and java stored procedures as well as the Oracle Servlet Engine (OSE)
which provides support for the servlets 2.2 api and JSP 1.1 api.
    Note :
EJB support in the "EJE" Version 817 has been upgraded to comply with the EJB
1.1 api specification which includes "entity beans" support.
What is the bottom line ??
    1) Servlets deployed to the APACHE JSERV must comply with servlet api 2.0.
    2) Servlets 2.1 or higher are only supported in EJE's OSE component found in
the rdbms 817 or ias 9i products. Servlets api 2.0 can also run in the OSE.

which jvm is used by jserv ?? EJE or a separate jdk ?
The Jserv servlet engine is running in a separate jdk JVM external to the EJE jvm which is embedded within the "database" component of ias and the RDBMS.
See the reference below for more details ...
if jserv only support old apis, why it is in oracle's products ?
i would assume that the oracle servlet engine was under development when ias 8i was released and became available in time for the ias 9i and rdbms 817 products.
looking back in history leads me to believe ias 8i was a migration path to get to ias 9i or rdbms 817.
Based upon the long history of new releases of every oracle product being upgraded with new features, it's reasonable to assume that these products will continue to evolve.
when I deploy a jsp how to deploy in the right servlet container ("EJE") ?
as documented in the reference below, you can deploy JSP's to either the apache jserv jvm or the EJE since the ORACLE JSP engine functionality is in both jvm's.
there are many posts where you can see that people have deploy in jserv and they have problems because they don't use the right container (servlet 2.0 instead of
    servlet 2.2) http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/006349.html
when ias 8i came out this was clearly an issue since servlet support was at api 2.0, and the current servlet api was probably at 2.1.
oracle clearly made every effort to get ias 9i released quickly to supply a servlet 2.1 and 2.2 capable engine to resolve this issue.
since ias 9i and rdbms 8.1.7 are available this is no longer an issue.
The reference below explains the architecture and understanding it would eliminate a lot of "deploy to the wrong ias 9i component" issues.
so why jserv is bundled with oracle 8i/9ias since EJE support the right api version ?
if in ias 9i release , oracle had removed the jserv component without any advance warning, many customers would have been very upset since oracle makes every attempt to give advance notice before removal of functionality.

  • Can i have same ORACLE_BASE directory location for Grid and RDBMS home ?

    Grid Version:11.2.0.3
    OS : RHEL 5.8
Can I have same ORACLE_BASE location for Grid (CRS) and RDBMS software Homes ?

The OFA guideline for ORACLE_BASE is /u01/app/<owner>.  If you are using the same owner for all software (let's call him "oracle") then a simple installation will have one base /u01/app/oracle.  This base will be shared by all installations of Grid and RDBMS software.  But, if you use two separate owners (let's call them grid and oracle) then you will have two separate ORACLE_BASE locations /u01/app/oracle and /u01/app/grid.  I always use two separate owners, but I know many people who only use the oracle account and that is fine too.
Oracle allows every ORACLE_HOME to have a unique base.  There is no requirement to install more than one ORACLE_HOME under a given ORACLE_BASE location.  This is just an extension of what I said above, that the ORACLE_HOMEs for Grid and RDBMS can be stored under separate ORACLE_BASEs.
If you are using RAC then I strongly suggest you read chapter 1 of the Oracle Real Application Clusters Installation Guide.  Read section "Overview of Oracle Base and Oracle Home Directories". The rules for ORACLE_BASE are as I noted above, but the rules for ORACLE_HOME change: the Grid ORACLE_HOME is not to be a sub-directory of the Grid ORACLE_BASE as it is when not using RAC.  So, with RAC your directory structure might look more like this:
    su -
    umask 0022
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oraInventory
    # Grid Base
    mkdir -p /u01/app/grid
    # Grid Home
    mkdir -p /u01/app/12.1.0.1/grid
    # Oracle  Base
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle
    # Oracle Home
    mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0.1/db_1
    # Ownership for all of the above...
    chown grid:oinstall /u01/app/grid
    chown grid:oinstall /u01/app/oraInventory
    chown grid:oinstall /u01/app/12.1.0.1
    chown grid:oinstall /u01/app/12.1.0.1/db_1
    chown oracle:oinstall /u01/app/oracle
My examples show 12.1.0.1 but it's the same for 11.2.0.3.
There's no requirement to create the home directories prior to running the OUI.  It can create them for you.  I just shown these commands to help you understand the big picture.
The OUI will pop-up a warning if the Grid user's ORACLE_HOME is outside of his ORACLE_BASE as shown in the above mkdir commands, which is funny since it is the recommended setup in the Oracle RAC documentation.  I submitted a bug report several years ago.  To be consistent across all of my RAC and non-RAC servers I follow the more strict rules of RAC and use the mkdir commands shown above.
