How to silently install Reader 9.3.1 RPM in RHEL 5.4?
I am running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.4 (32-bit). I need to install the AdbeRdr9.3-1_i486linux_enu.rpm on multiple machines nearly everyday.
Is there a way to install this RPM silently? In other words, accept the license agreement from the command line rather than having GUI windows pop up?
The only documentation I have found on this subject so far has been restricted to Windows environments.
Is a silent and automated installation possible for RHEL?Could you please post a screenshot of the Add/Remove Programs listings. I guess, the prior installation had been corrupted and hence, couldnt be removed by the new update and hence, the two entries.
Please try ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ's suggestions as above to remove the corrupted installations.

Edited by: user11128035 on Sep 6, 2009 3:15 AMI don't understand your step 7 (the first step 7, actually).
What is that unixODBC-2.2.14-linux-x86-32.tar.gz, where did it come from, and why are you doing all that?
unixODBC should be installed after step 5.
I guess that that is the cause of your problem.
isql is not linked against readline at all on my RHEL 5 system.
Do you notice any improvement after removing the files from that tar.bz file?

MaranRed Hat does not provide public access to online software or patches. The base distribution and packages should however be on your installation DVD. Do you have a support subscription with Red Hat? If no, why use RHEL? If yes, why ask here about online access to Red Hat software?
Why not using Oracle Linux, which is free, including online software access and patches. http://public-yum.oracle.com
From a strategic point, considering the future, you will most likely benefit more from Oracle Linux than RHEL, in particular if you are using Oracle Database. Oracle Linux is binary compatible with RHEL, but uses it's own optimzed UEK kernel. Various Oracle database related software and kernel drivers are removed or not supported by RHEL starting with release version 6.

My Oracle Support ... and only if you have a paid-up support contract. Actually, I'm not sure 9i would be available even then. 10g is only available to those with a paid-up sustaining support contract. 9i is so old (hasn't been supported in this millennium) I wouldn't be surprised it is not available at any price. Further, I doubt it was ever certified for RHEL 5. Hard to tell since the documentation isn't even available .....
Just out of curiosity, why would you be needing such an antique?

Oracle 9.2.0.6 support for RHEL 4 AS update 4
Hi All,
Where can i get information on the support matrix for oracle 9.2.0.6 for Red hat Enterprise Linux 4 Advanced server update 4. The document at http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html does not give information on the 'update' versions (update 3, update 4 etc). Please advise.
Regards,
KishoreYou must have the minimum update specified by oracle for any OS and as long as you stay on same release, it is supported. Oracle doesn't provide support info at different update levels instead it specify the minimum update which is required for you to have the support.
Check the minimum update requirement for RHEL 4 and if you are on that or above that, you are fine.

Rpm for telnet utility on oracle linux 5.7
Hi,
I new to oracle linux , and i have two questions:
1) I have an oracle linux installed on one of our servers. I think its version 5.7 but i am not 100% sure.
I run cat/etc/issue but it doest report the oracle linux version. How can i found out which version installed on this server ?
2) I need to install rpm for telnet. From where i can download only the required telnet rpm for verion 5.7 ?
Thanks1) The following should help:
http://www.oracle.com/us/technologies/027626.pdf
2) Telnet has been replaced by SSH, similar to FTP, for serious security reasons.
The Telnet client is normally installed by default. To install the client and server, the following should work:

yum install telnet telnet-server

To setup access to Oracle Public yum, see this link: http://public-yum.oracle.com/ -
