Hi,I use Essbase Administration Services 7.1 on Win2000.I use ASO type of OLAP application. I would like to set storage to disk D: (the default is C:). How to to set storage disk volume for ASO type of applications?For block storage type OLAP application is in the database Properties tag in Storage tab. What about ASO type of applications?Is it posible to store data two multiple disk volumes?Thanks,Grofaty

It is a bit different for ASO models - you need to modify the tablespaces, which are found in the properties of the APPLICATION, not the database.In EAS right-click the app and choose Properties. Saving data in a database and publishing data to multiple clients

Hi there. I'm using a bunch of Compact FieldPoint modules to read out a few hundred voltages, temperatures, currents, etc. I acquire this data at about 1 Hz (pretty slow). I would like to record this data to some sort of database on a cpu (running LV 8.0, connected to the FieldPoint mods), and serve the data to multiple (between 10 and 50) clients over the net, each running a compiled stand-alone "data grabber and viewer" application (which I'll have to write of course). I'd like these external clients to basically be able to pick a certain variable from the database, and plot it for the last week (or something like that). Presumably the standalone client would send some database query to the server. The server would then send the data to the client, and the standalone client would receive the data and plot it as the user sees fit. My question is how to implement this database? Should I use the LabView "Database" Add-On to create a database to store the data? Is it better to just store the data as binary and write my own data fetching routine to handle queries? How can I write this database to disk for permanent storage? Could this database be accessible outside of LabView?
Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Jesse,
The Citadel database is not a relational database. It's highly optimized for storing lower-rate (non-waveform) channel-by-channel, or "trace" measurement data. Another option you can consider is using DSC and Citadel on the server then writing a utility to export the data from Citdael to an SQL database. --That would solve the problem of having to write a logger application from scratch. You would only have to write the relatively simple application to export the data from Citadel and import it into a relational database.
You could accomplish this two ways. First, DSC includes a set of VIs that will retrieve historical data from Ciatdel. You could use LabVIEW to parse this data and write it to a table in a relational database. Second, Citadel actually includes a locally accessible ODBC interface. (You can query Citadel using an SQL query from the local computer). You could query Citadel using this interface, then write the result to a table in a relational database.
To view Citadel in its native format or query a Citadel database using ODBC from a remote comptuer that comptuer would need to have a licensed DSC RTS installed.

Best way to control and read data from multiple instruments?

I'm building an application to test power supplies involving multiple pieces of equipment over a couple of different comm busses. The application will also send control instructions to some of the instruments, and read data from some of the instruments. The reading and control profiles will not run on the same schedule (variable length control steps, configurable read interval).
I was thinking of using a queued statemachine (producer/consumer) for the control profile and another to read the data, but I got concerned that there would be collisions between sending control commands and read commands to the same machine. Is there a suggested design pattern for implementing something like this?
Timing of the commands isn't critical down to the milisecond, but I need to collect reasonably accurate timestamps when the data is read. The same is true for the control commands.

Hello, there is a template in LV called "Continuous measurement and Logging".
It can give you some idea how to properly decouple the "GUI Event handler" top loop (where your Event structure is) from the DAQ and other loops.
You do not need to totally replicate the above example, but you can find there nice tricks which can help you at certain points.
The second loop from the top is the "UI message loop". It handles the commands coming from the top loop, and regarding to the local state machine and other possible conditions and states, it can command the other loops below.
During normal run, the different instrument loops just do the data reading, but if you send a control command from the top loop to a certain instrument loop (use a separate Queue for every instrument loops), that loop will Dequeue the control command, execute it, and goes back to data reading mode (in data reading mode the loop Dequeu itself with a "data read" command automatically). In this way the control and data read modes happen in serial not in parallel which you want to avoid (but I think some instrument drivers can even handle parallel access, it will not happen in really parallel...).
In every instrument loop when you read a value, attach a TimeStamp to it, and send this timestamp/value couple to the DataLogging loop via a Queue. You can use a cluster including 3 items: Source(instrument)/timestamp/value. All the instrument loops can use the same "Data logging" Queue. In the Datalogging while loop, after Dequeue-ing, you can Unbundle the cluster and save the timestamp and data-value into the required channel (different channel for every instrument) of a TDMS file.
(Important: NEVER use 2 Event structures in the same top level "main" VI!)

Now use the fields obtained from the DB to populate your HTML page.

Can migration assistant move data from multiple disks (Mac Pro) to a single disk (iMac)

I have recently purchased an iMac and need to migrate my apps, data and accounts from a Mac Pro running OSX 10.5.8. Does Migration Assistant accommodate a multi disk set up (I have my OS and apps on one disk and data on another) or does it only recognise one 'target' disk at a time.

For schema data, you can create a model TBOX using Jena Adapter (behind the scenes, application table TBOX_TPL will be created).
For instance data, you can create a model ABOX using Jena Adapter (behind the scenes, application table ABOX_TPL will be created)
Data loading can be done in multiple ways. Please see the following document for details.

Your joseki configuration can be something like

Organizing and Storing Photos with Multiple Users

I am new to the Imac and have a boat load of photos from previous PC. I have successfully migrated them to the IMAC and started using Iphoto. I also have several user accounts for the imac for the family but want to be able to share all the photos across the user accounts. What is the best way to do this without having duplicate files.
I started by coping all the photos in a Shared folder directly under the user folder that everyone has access to. I now have been in my user account and dragged and dropped in my photo library. Things seem to be working however it appears I have now two copies on my hard drive. One set in the share folder where I have originally copied them to from the pc and another set in my photos folder on my user account. I'm afraid as the other users do the same to I, we will have 3 to 4 copies... and with the number of photos I have I scared I won't have the disk space.
How else can I manage all the photos in a single location while having multiple users be able to access them.

Put them in the Shared folder as you have done. Now any user can access the files. It's basic but simple.
However, if you want to use iPhoto (and it's neither necessary nor compulsory) then you need to put the Library on an external disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and set to ignore permissions.

Reading and storing data in an array

I'm trying to write a program to read in a list of numbers, store them in an array and then output them in ascending order.
I've written the following so far but when executed, I got this error...

System configuration & services data on boot disk or external volume?

Assuming a RAID 1 boot disk using 2 large capacity hard disks on a Xserve, which system configuration and services data shall one store on the boot disk and an external volume?
I am thinking of keeping DNS records and Open Directory data on the boot disk while mail store, web documents and user data in an external volume. What about database file such as MySQL?
What is the normal and/or best practice in this matter?

nope. doesn't matter a damm if you put the content on a secondary drive (as long as its plugged in when you want to use it!) ... the benefit of having it on a secondary drive would be to free up space on your system disc, if necessary (useful on a laptop, but means carrying around an extra portable drive for ths content) ... don't use your media drive though, better to save that for your projects captured/imported media only.

"Volume not found" I have 3 iphoto_libraries stored in a external disk, while the actual files are in other external disk. Ive moved together iphotolibraries and files but: HOW CAN I TELL THE LIBRARIES WHERE TO FIND THEM NOW?

I have three iphoto_libraries stored in a external disk PASSPORT (one for each trip imovie Im making -Ive managed this way the libraries so to not confuse the trips) while the actual files are in OTHER external disk LACIE. And everything was fine: imovie find each library, could work with it, or iphoto could edit the files.
But one day everything crashed at the same time: i opened iphoto to find 3 different scenarios:
1) iphoto_library GREECE was there, but not the albums i prepared. no events. when double click in any of them: "Volume not found"
2) iphoto_library ITALY was there, and the albums i prepared too, but empty.
in both cases I can only see the photos in 'photos' because 'events' shows some events with photo preview and some with no preview, just some kind of preset clipart palm tree, but if i enter the event, photos are there but again: when double click in any item: "Volume not found"
3) iphoto_library ISRAEL was there, the albums too, when double click in any of them: all OK

This is not clear, especially when you say

Especially as the message you're getting is typical of a library where the ' option "copy to file" or something like that' is unchecked.
So it's a simple question:
Are you these Managed or Referenced Libraries?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

How to attach multiple attachments in info path form as a Hyperlink and storing in share point document library?

Hi,
I have designed a infopath form which is having multiple attachment control and user will upload multiple documents on it.
The problem in sharepoint infopath form is user's are unable to attach large files which is more than 5 MB (since default limit is 4096KB).
I know we can increase the User session data for Infopath in central admin .But that will impact our server CPU since we want to increase to 50 MB.
I got the other approach which is like storing the documents in sharepoint document library and adding the attachments as a hyperlink in infopath form which will reduce the size of the form and will not affect performance.
Can anyone please provide the detailed explanation and method here(if possible with screenshots)

Hello,
I also had same requirement earlier and what i did, i have given the doc library link to infopath form to upload file. Then create new web service data connection to get files from library to infopath and show as hyperlink. Basically you can add one repeating
section with hyperlink control to bind the files in IP.

Help to save Vector data into a disk and load it back again

I�m still need help to solve the problem of saving vector data object into disk and load it aging whenever I restart the program. I used one central design for the project. The codes below is most important part of the project.
