Aso outline

<p>Hi all,</p><p> </p><p>I am getting error while iam building an outline in ASO model.Problem is I am getting errors when I am building dimension above6million upto 6 million I donot have any problem.</p><p> </p><p>ERROR - 1007119 - Loading New Outline for Database [S_BIG1]Failed.<br>ERROR - 1241101 - Unexpected Essbase error 1007119.<br><br>On later loads these are new errors<br><br>ERROR - 1042012 - Network error [10054]: Cannot Send Data.<br>ERROR - 1042012 - Network error [10054]: Cannot Send Data.<br>ERROR - 1241101 - Unexpected Essbase error 1042012.</p><p> </p><p>TIA</p><p>Jsprint</p>

<p>Thanks for the reply.  Yep, I tried creating a newapplication using ASO and then trying to use the load rule to builda specific dimension in the outline.  I made sure the outlineverfiied correctly with no errors before attempting a load of thedata.  When loading I receive the following error....</p><p> </p><p>ERROR - 1007083 - Dimension build failed. There are manypossible causes (for example, problem allocating memory). Check theserver log file to locate the error that caused the failure..<br>ERROR - 1241101 - Unexpected Essbase error 1007083.</p><p> </p><p>When I check the error logfile it simply says...  \\Outlineverification errors:</p><p> </p><p>I remember reading something about using a Buffer_ID of 1? Is this important? Again I'm still not even sure if adimensional build on an outline is possible for ASO.  Anyonehave any ideas?  Thanks in advance.</p>

  • EAS is crashing when trying to open a 2GB ASO outline in edit mode

    Hi,
We have EAS 11.1.2.2. and when we tried to edit an ASO outline which is 2GB in size crashes the EAS server, Everytime we have to re-start the server to bring it back. The xmx is 2048 and xms is 512 for the EAS server.
Can anyone tell us how to solve this problem.
    Thanks,

There seems to be a bug in EAS when opening large outlines.  If you look in the tmp directory "C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\tmp" on my machine you will see that every 5-6 min a copy of the otl file with a randomly generated name gets created.  Something is timing out and EAS trys again with a newly numbered random otl file name - this goes on till you cancel.  The files get left in there forever.
The solution should be to increase a timeout setting someplace but I have not been able to find it and previous appeals here and on network54 have not yielded any results.
There is a  work-around however.  Make your outline faster to open.  If the ESSCMDQ utility does not work, try putting the otl file on an ssd drive.  If you do not have one you can try a memory mapped IO trick:  copy the outline someplace.  Then try to open the original again - it will most likely now be sitting in memory and will open up fast enough not to generate the timeout problem.
Of course delete the copy at some point.
I also make it a practice to periodically clear out the abandoned junk in the tmp directory - the op system will not allow you to delete any file still in use so just del * (boy does that sound dangerous but it works).
Now if someone has a better way I would love to know it.

  • Convert ASO outline to BSO

I am building the outline in ASO using rules files and MAXL script...How can I convert this outline in BSO using the same rules files...or is there any other way to convert the outline to from ASO to BSO.... I need this for creating a ASO-BSO transparent partition where ASO is the data source and BSO is the target....
    Thanks...

    In your case.
    1. Create a BSO application, and use the same rule files and scripts which you are using for ASO outline build.
    2. Within the BSO application, validate whether the same rule files are correct .
    3. Mostly ,they should work, else , the minimal changes might require to make them compatible with BSO nature.
    4. Now that you have both BSO and ASO cube in place, make partitions.
You might face problems when you do the rule files in BSO ,then you can post them and get corrected.

  • ASO outline 11mg 1/2 hr to open in EAS

I have an ASO outline the takes 1/2hr or more to open in EAS. I have compacted the db and checked deleted members. Nothing has helped. Does anyone have some tuning tips?

I am currenly using EAS installed on my desktop because the EAS server we have installed would give me out of memory errors immediately when I would click to open the outline. To prove it wasn't my laptop I installed the server app on my laptop and was able to open the outline, but it takes 1/2 hr or longer. EAS server is intalled on a virtual Linux (RedHat) server that was limited to 500 mg. I have sent in a request for the admins to increase the RAM available to that virtual, then we can increase the .lax file setting. The desktop I'm running EAS off of now has 1.48 gb 4 cpu. 64 gb free space.
    Thanks,

  • ASO Outline Error

I have installed Essbase and configured it with shared services successfully. I also created ASO application & its database but when I am opening ASO outline, it's giving me error - 'There is a problem loading outline into memory, error #1,250,053'.
But I am able to open outline for ASO sample application.
    Please help me on it.

What version of essbase server and AAS server/client you are using to view the outline.

  • Opening 11mg ASO outline takes forever

I have an 11mg ASO outline with 1 simple formula in accounts dim. It takes 1/2 hr to open my outline in edit mode in EAS. Is there something I can do to improve the performance? I have compacted the database and checked the deleted members option. EAS 7.1.3. Didn't seem to help.

  • Multiple shared members in ASO outline

<BR>I am building an outline with one primary and three alternate hierarchies within one of the dimensions of an Aggregate Storage (ASO) cube. All of the leaf members in each of the alternate hierarchies are shared members of a member in the primary hierarchy. The non-shared member is a leaf in some cases and a summary point in others. All hierarchies are stored. <BR><BR>When I try to save the outline, I get a long list of verification errors. For the stored members to which the shared members refer, Essbase is complaining that "This member has multiple copies of same shared member in at least one stored hierarchy. See other messages for which members and which hierarchies." For the shared members, Essbase complains that "Aggregate storage outlines only allow a shared member once in a stored hierarchy." For the alternate hierarchies, Essbase complains that "This stored hierarchy has multiple copies of same shared member. Remove extra member or change hierarchy to be dynamic."<BR><BR>However, I did a find on a handful of the members that Essbase was complaining about and in all cases have found only one instance of each shared member in each alternate hierarchy. The same shared member might appear in two or more alternate hierarchies, but I have not found a case where it appears more than once in the same hierarchy.<BR><BR>I have also ensure the following:<BR><UL>The primary hierarchy occurs first in the outline, so non-shared members always appear before any instances of any of the shared members.</UL><BR><UL>There are no shared members in the primary hierarchy.</UL><BR><UL>All members, non-shared and shared, are in the same dimension.</UL><BR><UL>Non of the stored hierarchies contain both a non-shared instance and a shared instance of the same member.</UL><BR><BR>I have tried making the alternate hierarchies dynamic, but query retrievals are so slow that they're completely unacceptable to the client.<BR><BR>Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Is there a solution to this?<BR>

I heard back from Hyperion Tech Support again. Turns out it's not a defect after all. It's actually a subtle technicality in the restrictions on shared members with ASO. The first restriction, which is explained in the outline verification error message, is that you can only have one instance of a shared member within a given stored alternate hierarchy. The second restriction is that you cannot have any shared members within a given stored alternate hierarchy where the non-shared instances of the members are ancestors/descendants of each other. Unfortunately, when this restriction is violated, EAS gives the same error message as it does for the first restriction, so it's a bit harder to debug.<BR><BR>Hope this saves someone some grief.<BR>-Silvester

  • Automated BSO / ASO Outline Dimension Build

    Hi,
I am trying to dynamically build an BSO cube outline using RULE file and DATA files.
    But am experiencing challenges.
Does the cube have to intial dimensions in the outline(ie PRODUCT)? Or any dimensions?
I am speciifying the PRODUCT dimension only in the DATA file, and in the RULE file specifying it as a PARENT, and the second row as CHILD.
    But it errors.
Can this same methodology be used to build ASO cube outlines as well?
Can anyone assists in overcoming this frustrating hiccup.
    Thanks

The easiest way to do this is to have the dimension at least specified in advance, but if you can't do that, then you can define the dimension in the load rule. Select Dimension build settings, then go to the tab Dimension Definition. In the bottom half, you can define a dimension

  • ASO outline restructure without losing data

    Hi
I have built an ASO cube. Now if I change the outline the data is lost. How can I change the outline without losing the data?

    Dear,
Whenever you are working with ASO Cube. And as per the Hyperion Docs, You can load data only to level 0 Members. This is basic Rule of ASO Cube.
As now you are making Sales a Level 1 member and adding a level 0 member under it. So using above guide line data will clear from the ASO.
YOu can retain your data at upper level only in BSO Cubes. Because there are few options which you can use to retain upper level Data.
    Hope this answer your question.
If still have any doubt let me know.
    Thanks..

  • Maximum number of members in ASO outline

    Hi All,
We are using Essbase 11.1.2.1. We have ASO cube with 11 dimensions, 1 dimension is expected to have more than 30 million members. Is that allowed ? What is the maximum limit for members in ASO cube ?
Also how to improve performance for such cube ?
    Kindly advice.

I believe the answer is no. The maximum number of members is 20 million: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/frameset.htm?limits.html#limits_8

  • Automatic outline sync between a BSO & ASO cube

We have a BSO and ASO cube connected through replicated partition. The partition & data update seems to work fine. Our next objective is to sync any changes made to BSO outline to the ASO outline automatically.
Can anyone provide any pointers as to how to achieve this?

Agreed, hence the suggestion of staging the data. This way you create a comprehensive set of properties covering (in an EPMA-esque way) all properties required for BSO, ASO, Planning, HFM etc... as necessary; and then using views limited to the required fields for each application to generate files in the correct format for the build of its particular app. E.g. Simple parent child tables with Essbase properties for use with Maxl and Essbase load rules, (different for BSO and ASO), slightly differently formatted parent child files for use with command line utility for Planning..etc..

  • Memory consumption for an ASO app with a very large outline

    Solaris 10 running Essbase 9.3.1.3.08 64-bit
We have an app with a very large outline (3Gb). When we do a dimension restructure, it takes about 30 minutes which I suppose is reasonable. However, it takes up about 13Gb RAM to do this and doesn't release the memory when finished unless we restart the app.
Is this normal? It seems an incredible amount of RAM to use, even for such a large outline and it doesn't release it when done.
    The box has 32Gb RAM.

    I think it was version 9.3.1.3 that outline compaction started working. The first thing I would try is to compact the outline. The MaxL statement for it is Alter database xxxx.yyyy compact outline;
ASO Outlines tend to grow with every change, do you really have that many members and attributes that would make that big an outline. If it keeps growing at some point it will corrupt

  • Higher version ASO to Low verion

    Hi All,
I am trying to replace my existing ASO outline 9.3.1 version with 9.3.3 version .When I click on start database ,I am getting below error
*"There is a problem on loading the outline into memory , error # 1250053"*
When I click on OK , it shows message on the panel *"Error: 1002097 Unable to load database"*.
Please let me know if this is an Essbase issue or problem with the version difference.
    Regards
    Vishal

It is an unsupported scenario. I had to face it once with the same 920-&gt;901 versions. What I did was also absolutely unsupported at my own risk and it was a last chance action. I'll tell you what I did and how it worked for me, which doesn't mean it will work for any situation. If you open your file with a binary file editor you will see at the first file blocks a header that displays the export version "EXPORT:V09.02.00" This header is read by the import to check which version was used to generate the file and prevent an unsupported downgrade, I changed it to EXPORT:V09.00.01 and retried the import. A lot of error messages appeared, but it successfully loaded my information. I took the risk because I made sure this specific database contained just basic tables, indexes and version compatible objects and definitions, it was a testing environment, I didn't have the right Oracle version and there was no time to get it, and finally I had a bullet proof backup.
