.ASP Files

Whenever I try to open up a PDF file for Airline Tickets or try to open up a PDF Medical Forms PDF File they come up as .ASP Files and they do not open. I am running Vista 32 BIT and have tried both Adobe Reader 8.3 and 10.0.
Can anyn one help me with this problem.

Sounds like a problem with your browser, not with Reader.
But this forum isn't the place for that type of question.

None of the free Adobe Reader products (Adobe Reader Touch, Adobe Reader for iOS/Android, Adobe Reader XI for desktop) provide the support for converting ASP to PDF.
Acrobat XI Pro and Standard (which are not free) can convert an ASP page into PDF.
Please note that Acrobat XI Pro, Standard, and Reader XI are not compatible with the Windows RT operating system.

DW CS3 crashes when opening older asp file made in DWMX

I have some asp files that were created in DW MXa dn when I
try and anything with CS3, CS3 simply crashes.

Writing binary data to ASP file from applet through URLConnection

Hi Everybody,
I am facing a proble with HttpURLConnection.I want to write some binary data from applet to an ASP file.The other end ASP file read this binary data and process , Here problem is I have opened URLConnection to the page and Created OutputStream and writing byte by Write() method But other end we are not getting bytes...we are not getting error too at java side..can any body help me..do we need to set any property to URLConnection...here I am giving sample code...

Unable to edit an ASP file in KM content

I have a colleague working on a customer portal where some ASP files were created and stored in the KM content. The customer is requesting to edit the content of one ASP file (basically, remove one section). However, when viewing the file in KM content, there is no option to edit it. This issue happens only to one specific ASP file, while all the other ASP files in the KM content are editable.
According to a previous developer (who has since left the project), the ASP file is a wrapped XLM file.

You need to add "text/asp" MIME type to the list of the Online editing types.
Try to do following:
1. Find a list of MIME types, see: Content Management - Utilities - Editing - Online Editing.
2. Add after comma this string: text/asp. For example:
Supported Mime Types for editing: text/plain, text/html, text/xml, text/asp
3. Save your changes.

After Update bad association on .asp files

Ok, this seems a minor annoyance compared to what I've been reading but it's a real pain for me as I'm dealing with ASP pages all day long (web tech).
Since the update today (thru Software Update) any *.asp file I double-click opens up in Apple System Profiler. Ok, so I go and attempt to change the association back to my Smultron editor and it'll take for 1 file. But when I attempt to 'change all' the message comes back of do i want to change all "Smultron.app files" (ummm should be .asp files) and I say 'YES' and the system promptly re-applies the System Profiler association to EVERYTHING ASP.
Small other detail...smultron used to show up when I would do a 'Open With' now it's disappeared and I can only select it as 'Other' and browse the Applications folder.
Pleasee help....I've already dealt with a WinXP crash this week...this annoyance is just making my week suck more.

If you applied the 10.4.7 updater, it's probably an issue with something in there. So, I would first Repair Permissions, then apply the 10.4.7 Combo Updater for your Mac. It will overwrite whatever files may have been corrupted during the 10.4.6 to 10.4.7 update. As always, make sure you backup your critical files first, just in case.

How open a CRWXI Report from a ASP file?

I can't open a report (CRW XI) from an application running on Internet Information Server (asp file) and using a SQL Express 2005 database. Before this database version, I used a MSDE database type and works without problems using a user without password; but now in SQLX this isn't possbile; can somebody help me???

Hi Jose,
As you have discovered database security is there for a reason. Crystal cannot get around it or it would be a major security breach. Which is also why we do not save the password in the RPT file. Example would be someone browsing finds a link to a report that show's everyones personal info and simply runs the report, without prompting for a password, that person now has everyones info and obviously this can cause all sorts of problems.
There are multiple ways to set up security. One way is to create a user account in SQL Server that has access to the database. Open the Reports up in CR Designer and set the User log on info and save the reports, you will need to set a password in code for that generic user but will give them access.
Another option is to use Trusted Authentication. Open the Report up in CR Designer and at the log on screen check on the option to use Trusted. You'll notice the user name an password are grayed out. In SQL Server you now must configure it to use NT Authenication also and import all the users or create all the users who can run these reports.
Bottom line is you cannot get around not using a password, Microsoft did this for a reason, to stop hackers from getting into DB servers that are not protected and accessing personal and sensitive data.
You MUST reconfigure your application to use security. If you have a Database Administrator discuss with them or hire a DBA to work with you on configuring your DB server to work with your application and user base.

Why am I prompted to download the .asp file whenever I attempt to view an asp page in a browser?

I am doing tutorials on dynamic pages in Dreamweaver 8. I am doing both php and asp. When I preview an asp page, for instance, it displays properly - from 'Localhost.' When I enter the url of the page in a browser, however, the 'Do you want to open or save this file?' prompt appears. (See attachment 'Doc1')
What gives? Thank you.
The same thing happens with php pages. I can preview them ok. But when I try to view them in the browser on the WWW, instead of page content, I get the prompt to download the file.

Running ASP files in a portlet

I have constructed a portlet that has an asp file associated to it . The ASP files is running on a different server that has IIS 5.0 (Win 2000 ENV). The portlet show all the html content of the asp file but doesn't display the output of the vbscript code between script delimiters.Not even simple response.write statements output. I have even tried giving runat=server for the vbscript code so that they are interpreted at the server running IIS 5.0 . Can anyone please help me in this.

ASP files not showing in Firefox

I made a template with a spry menu bar. When I create new
webpages based on the template, the new files are automatically
saved as .asp files. The site works great in IE. But in Firefox,
the page refuses to render at all. All I get is the pages HTML/ASP
content as text displayed in the browser.
I am completely stumped with how to fix this one.

You are running on an Apache web server and should not be
using asp extensions. Save the page again as html only or simply
create a new page.

Send.Asp File error does not send html form

Will Edge include support for color coding for ASP Classic .asp files

We have some old sites running asp Classic (Active server Pages)
How can I add color coding for .asp files?

Edge Code should already highlight .asp files as plain HTML. If you're looking for highlighting of the ASP-specific code, that is something Edge Code does not plan to support out of the box.
It is possible to write an extension that adds this support, but it would not be a small amount of work -- you'd have to write a tokenizer yourself to support syntax highlighting, for example.
