Aspire PSU, need comments

Hiya.
Ran across this PSU yesterday and I find no catches with it at all. It's about $60 with shipping, it's got great reviews and great specifications. My question is simply whether this is too good to be true or if I can go along and just buy it. (:

I'm running the Aspire Turbo-Case 500W PSU. The good folks at http://www.harddrive.com fixed me up with this one. The specs for this PSU are in my signature. The only problem I had was installing my Lian-Li backing plate, it interfered with the variable speed knob, but I just took a Dremel tool to it, and solved that problem. The PSU is not very well known, but the folks at harddrive have built many, many systems with these units, and have not had any negative issues whatsoever. I also read reviews on several manufacturers of PSU's and there were no more negatives on the Aspire than Antec or Enermax. I am however, partial to Enermax PSU's, but I thought I'd give this one a try....nobody can beat the price of $57.00

Need comments/opinion

Need some comments/opinion regarding essbase implementation:1. our prospect client wants to analyze/report their financial statement using their G/L system (they use Platinum software). And they want it in such detail level as their g/l account / chart of account.Is it normal/usual?2. Beside G/L, they want to analyze their a/p and a/r too. So i guess i should create 3 database, 1. for the G/L (with detail account), 2. For the A/P based on their A/P module and 3. for the A/R based on their A/R module. Is that right?3. If the client wants to implement essbase (for analysis) and planning, should we separate the process of implementation into stages. Typically:1. Financial Consoldiation cube - G/L2. Cashflow cube - A/P & A/RIt all depends on the type of analysis your client is interested.Usually you will want A/P and A/Rtogether to analyze cashflow.Start with cube 1.The dimensions in cube 2. willthen be similar to cube 1. except forthe accounts setup.Hope this helps.

Our own badi (right from scratch)
will not be useful for any standard sap transaction/program.
(bcos this z badi, will never be called from standard program/transaction)

similar to how sap provides for user-exit / badi.

Need Comments in FRS report

Hi,
My client needs last column in the report as "Comments", where the users can provide explanations for the numbers in the report. Let me know, if there is a way that users can type their comments in a report.
We also have a comment dimension, which has been provided for "to provide explanations", is their a way to use this Dim, so that users are able to write comments on the report, while generating it.
I really do not know of any such functionality in FRS, if anyone knows about it, let me know.

We are hearing of some great successes of running Forms applications on the web and od course some of the Oracle Applicationm Suite is built on Forms as well.

Help! I need Comments List to Open in Initial View

Hopefully I am in the right forum now. I have Adobe 8 Professional. Can someone please help me figure out how to set my Comments List to be Open in the Initial View. It is not an option in the Navigation Tab. I will be sending this document with Comments to other individuals and I want the Comments List to be Open when they view the document.
I have already set the document to "Restore Last View", but that only works for me not to the people I send it to.
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend NetBeans. Their latest release just came out today. It's my personal preference and I think the latest release improves a lot of areas, most noticeably the UI and responsiveness. NetBeans has a lot of out-of-the-box features like:
Code completion
JSP/XML/HTML validation/completion
JSP Tag completion
CVS integration
Tomcat integration and debugging
Visual GUI editor
Ant integration
...and more. Out of the box, Eclipse is similar, but lacks a number of features NetBeans has. Eclipse's strong advantage is refactoring. That's the one major feature NetBeans lacks. To get a good refactoring component in NetBeans, you'll have to pay for it. They plan to address that in version 4.0 due out in the summer.
Eclipse also has better project management. It's easy to create projects and mount libraries and whatnot in a "relative" state so you can check the project and classpath file into CVS. NetBeans makes a big messy structure that resides in your userdir, so when you check code out of CVS, you have to create the project yourself once. Another issue they plan to address with 4.0.
IntelliJ is a favorite among others, but I haven't used it. It's not free like NetBeans and Eclipse, but it has a number of good features too.

i want to know in what order conditions in where clause evaluates.

consider tran_year, tran_mon , emp_id are primary key and table having record month wise , and consider employees are 50,000, so for one month 50000 record will be there .
so i believe 2nd query will faster than 1st one , becse oracle read from bottom so it will first filter acording emp_id .Please tell me if i m wrong

If you join more then 10 tables the number of permutations for those tables (all combinations) will be quite big. There is a (undocumented) parameter that influences the CBO on how many tables/permutations it will try. This influences the parsing time of the query. But for simple queries such a thing has absolutly no consequence.
Sorry I was talking about having multiple tables in the FROM clause. Not about multiple condition in the where clause. The main thing still is identical. The order has no real relevance. CBO will choose an order mostly depending on index usage. There could be more complexe example where the order might get some importance again, but those are extremly special cases (I think jonathan lewis once showed such an example) Difficult to dig it up now.

As Roddy says, you could look at Disqus or another alternative is http://www.intensedebate.com. Try these 2 if you want the comments to be visible to you and others on your website.
If it does not matter to you whether the comments on your site are visible to others and you want the comments coming directly to you, then try having a look at http://www.jotform.com where you can create any type of form that you want, so a contact and feedback form would work - the comments would come directly to you, but not be visible on your website. You could also try Google docs for this or http://www.wufoo.com.
Another method that Old Toad recommends is a guest book option - the results will be visible on your website, but I have never used this option. Just do a Google search for Guest Book options.
I have used Intense Debate in the past and it worked very well on my site. No longer use it as I don't really need comments and for that, I just use a JotForm contact and feedback form instead. You could write your own code for your form to and use your servers Form Mail option so results get mailed to you and are then stored on the server instead of third party servers as is the case with Wufoo and Jotform - if the servers go down, then you have lost your form. You are a little more protected if the form is on your own server.

G4Ti4200 TD 64 - Need help on selecting new PSU

Well, I have looked though some of the posts here and it seems that:
Every time someone has freezing problems with a GeForce4 card its becuase the PSU they got is to little and cant supply enough power.
Well, I am having the freezing problems now after I updated to a GeForce4 card (had a GeForce 2 MX before) so I guess my PSU needs to be changed. (Please correct me if I am wrong)
But, what would I need to change it to, thats what I would like alittle help about.

MSI 7900 GTO what PSU specs?

I am thinking of buying a MSI 7900 GTO graphics card.
What would be the specs my PSU needs to fulfil?
My PSU does have this extra PCI-e connector but I am afraid it will be to weak for this card.
It is a Coolermaster 430W Extreme Power.
I am an absolute no-know on these matters but as I understood from this great forum the amps on the +12V line are what is important.
The thing is that the specs give 2 values for the +12V line:
+12V 1 = 14A
+12V 2 = 15A
What does this mean?

So I guess that will mean a new PSU after all. I wanted to have a modular PSU anyway, so this is my chance..;-)
Although I still don't know what PSU to pick. I was thinking about an Enermax, a Seasonic or a be-Quiet. The PSU's I am thinking about are about 500W but they don't have at least 20 amps on the splitted +12V rail........Do I really have to purchase a big 600W or more PSU?

Actually I am thinking of overclocking this MSI 7900 GTO @ 7900 GTX instead of downclocking it....
My neighbour did it, he is the one that recommended this card to me, since you can have the performance of a 7900 GTX for about half the price!

I am happy with this board, especially after I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest version. Before I had problems with the memory, now it is running like a charm
I've bought this mobo because it was perfect for upgrading my system: I could/can still use my old AGP graphics card (Nvidea 6200 256mb) which I want to upgrade now. Since I also have a PCI-e slot, I can upgrade to such a card. I am still using all my 'old' IDE devices, like HDD, DVD RW and DVD ROM. Thanks for not cursing me since I purchased anything other than a MSI mobo

Import Comments from PDF to new PDF

Acrobat Pro 8 - Comments (lines & Text boxes) added to a previous PDF Import rotated 90 degrees. These PDF's are design drawings with comments. The new file is merely an updated version of the design. Need COMMENTS to Import aligned properly.

I am sooo lost - info shown above might as well be Greek to me! I have tried to follow all the steps to get my info from old computer to new one. Where can I get more detail re the "profile folder". I created one as it stated, but I'm not able to find it again to do the pasting of old info into (ie where it states "open the new Firefos profile folder"). Been at this for hours! Please help...(note, I backed-up old info to flashdrive per one set of instructions). Also, so much backed-up, how do I know what I really need?

SLOW ibook, HD working all the time, need diagnosis !

Symptoms begun lightly, thant increased so i cannot identify one cause. The ibook is now just impossible to work with, for example, booting can take 10 to 20 min, opening an app can take two or three min, and there are delays for real simple actions (opening a folder, closing a window, scrolling in the dock...). everything takes time, delays, freezes and spinning beachball.
Meanwhile, once i openened and work with in an application (Word for ex), it's ok.
The HD makes noises just like it's working all the time, swapping files, or just as if i had a great resource consuming task in the background. I'm not skilled enough to read Activity Monitor for the disk usage, but the CPU and RAM both look ok.
Of course, i thought the HD's in trouble so here's what i remember having done yet :
• Maintenance scripts, repair permissions (very long), zapping PRAM, PMU, etc... usual stuff, many times
• Fsck or "repair disk" are long, but don't tell any problem ; SMART status is verified, free space on the disk is almots 20 Go
• Running tech tool deluxe, from "apple protection plan" wich sees nothing
• Archive and install (problems still here even if slightly better for some time)
• Clean install with total HD erase (same comment)
• Boot without Ram and airport card
That's where i'm at. I have two questions :
• Would it be good to get Apple Hardware Test (my version is too old), and running it in loop mode ? what about diskwarrior ?
• Could it be something else than a hard drive problem ?

One contributing problem I've noticed is the growth of operating systems as we patch them. Mine loads quickly, but desktop operations have a 5 to 10 second response time. It loads quickly because the 5 GB free is contiguous, offering plenty of room for swap files, usually about 5 Mb each. Its response time is presumably slow because it is swapping processes rather than paging.
I don't know at what amount of free space MacOSX switches from efficient paging to disk to slow swapping of whole processes to disk. However, it's unlikely you have 20 GB of free space.
When I once had 7.5 GB of free space, the computer stopped. The console told me I hadn't sufficient contiguous freespace to create a new 5 MB (MB not GB!) swap file. (Swap files have to be contiguous.) Your computer may be swapping rather than paging. This I can easily imagine if you upgraded operating systems by modifying the previous (as Apple suggests), and applied all its patches (needed for security). Apple warns this will happen if you create & delete movies.
Booting shouldn't take 10 or 20 minutes on a damaged hard drive, it should stop at the first sign of damage. I can probably imagine it taking that long reading files whose pieces are scattered, and executing startup and OS files that need a large amount of virtual memory.
It's likely that Word, made by Microsoft, violates acceptable civil behavior and takes excessive real memory, minimizing disk swapping.
What is puzzling is the
• Clean install with total HD erase (same comment).
That should have cured any disk fragmentation, unless it was a fast backup and restore of a disk image, which doesn't defragment files as it reads & writes them.
Here's how to check for excessive disk fragmentation:
1. Open /Applications/Utilities/Console and read its messages;
2. Open /Utilties/Disk Monitor and examine the Disk Activity graph for a while.
a. If it spikes regularly, it's likely a background application of your doesn't respect your power saver. Remove these one-by-one to find the problem one & write the company. You want your drive to sleep when possible.
b. To the point, if the curve stays near the top all the time, the virtual memory of ordinary programs, which should normally happily stay put in 20 GB of space are all competing for the contiguous spaces between tiny files. This is like a children's game we play, called 'musical chairs'.
Further, the memory manager is running full speed (using CPU time and real memory, exacerbating the problem). When more time is spent looking for space for swap files than writing them, we say the disk is 'thrashing'. The disk then makes the sound yours does, and the computer does almost nothing useful.
c. Just an idea, but 'Disk Utility' lets you create 'disk images', empy files of any size you request. (I may have modified mine to do this.) If your disk is severely fragmented, the maximum size file you can create may be small. This is just a sufficient condition for fragmentation, not a necessary one.
d. Install this in Utilities and run it:

*Possible Solution*
If excessive fragmentation is the problem, various commercial utilities will defragment your drive. However, I never use commercial utilities, so I run the shareware iDefrag.

This is now US$ 30. Though you can run an algorithm that would fix excessive fragmentation from the boot disk, it's normal to install it on a CD (which they provide a program for). If you install it on your second computer as well, so you can place yours in Target Disk Mode, threats appear that give 'termination' a new meaning.
Others will tell you that the advanced HFS+ filesystem doesn't need defragmenting. It is true that on a G3 iBook, defragmenting files and optimizing their order will not speed up the machine if it has many, large, unfragmented freespaces: the speed bottleneck is elsewhere. (It will greatly speed a G4 Mac.) However, defragmentation is eventually necessary to create these freespaces.
