ASR-9001 - XR_434 - A9K-MPA-4x10GE - not fowarding packets

In ASR-9001 with XR Version 434
Connection between 2 devices, same platform, same XR Version (434) packets are not been foward.
Change XR Version to 5.1.3 and the fowarding was sucesfull.
Does anyone have the BUGs related to this and the SMUs that i can install to keep working with 434?
Regards

Noup, the ingress / egress counters keep in 0, some times ARP complete sometimes it dont.
The router crash traing to do an OIR.

  • ASR9006/A9K-MPA-4X10GE

    Hi,
we are new on ASR and IOS XR. We have an ASR 9006 with the line card in the discussion subject (A9K-MPA-4X10GE). The four leds on the card are red. Is there any command to activate? Is a Layer 1 problem?
Our release is Cisco IOS XR Software, Version 4.3.0[Default].
    Thank You!!!

Red LEDs mean that Port is physically down at layer-1. Are these ports connected at other end with 10G device??
    Can you please share the output of following;

  • ASR-9001 - XR_434 - HSRP

How many HSRP / Subinterfaces will be recomend to be the max in a Teng. port for an ASR-9001.
If i have over 500, what will be the configuration best practice?
I have seen Multiple Group Optimization (MGO) for HSRP as an option, but i dont have a clear example of how to configure it on XR.

    In spanish ¡¡ APLAUSOS !!
Also i take a look on Struc 33 of the NP, and the max entries change from 1024 to 8192

  • Prime Network and ASR 9001

I have Prime Network 4.0 and ASR 9001 with A9K-MPA-20x1GE and IOS XR 5.1.0. Prime connects to ASR9k with Telnet, SNMP and XML, status says reachable, operational. Updated prime to latest PrimeNetwork-4.0-DP1308.
Still, Prime can not see any physical interfaces except MgmtEth (no on-board 4x10G, no 20x1G). Basically, nothing in Slot0.
Can not see any VRFs and BNG functionality configured in VRF.
Only single static route in routing table (does not show connected routes in global routing table)
    What can it be?
Is it me not configuring something, or Prime Network should not be seeing this things?
    George

I assume you are asking about Cisco Prime LAN Management System (LMS) vs. Cisco Prime Infrastructure (PI).
LMS is currently the leading Cisco offering for wired infrastructure management. It is the evolution of the earlier CiscoWorks LMS, CiscoWorks RWAN CiscoWorks 2000, CWSI, VLAN Director, original CiscoWorks classic etc. products going back almost 20 years.
PI is the equivalent Cisco offering for wireless LANs and is the successor to NCS and WCS products.
The overlap and confusion comes from the fact the Cisco is positioning PI as the overall wireless and wired management platform and gradually introducing wired network management features to make it equal (and eventually exceed) LMS's capabilities.
There is a comparison table here that shows the current differences. A major new release of PI (2.0) is due out shortly which will close many (but not all) of the gaps on that table.

  • ASR 9001 QoS Capabilities

    Hello,
As I understood, ASR 9001 has integrated 4 onboard 10 GB interfaces and two Line Card slots. It has MOD 80 architecture.
Onboard 10 Gb interfaces has same QoS capabilities as MOD TR modular line cards. ( 8 queues per port and etc)
What about the two Line Card Slots? If I use A9K-MPA-20x1GE, A9K-MPA-2x10GE or A9K-MPA-4x10GE line card , which QoS specifications I will have? Like MOD SE or MOD TR?  As I know, these line cards has SE functions on the ASR 9001/9001S. Does it mean more than 8 queues per port? Can I terminate Pseudowire Headend on these interfaces and use QoS on them?

  • ASR 9001 nV Connection

    Hi,
to use the nV feature with 2xASR9001, I will require 2 IRL of 10 Gbps.
I will be using the A9k-MPA-4x10GE (module to add 4x10GE ports). I would like to know if I would be able to use the ports of the module A9k-MPA-4x10GE to create the IRL? (They use XFP).
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    J

    Hi Jordi,
Yes, you can use either the MPA ports or on-board ports for IRLs, or even both. The restrictions on optics is that of the LC/MPA you are using.
EOBC ports are the only ones with more restrictions.
See section 3.6 and addendum of https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-34114 for more details on the EOBC and 9001 limitations.
    Thanks,
    Sam

  • ASR 9001 + IPSEC

    Hello,
We try to use ipsec with our ASR 9001 but even if we do crypto isakmp:
    how crypto isakmp peers
    Tue Apr 14 20:47:17.751 UTC
    % IKE not active
How can we active IKE ?
    Thks.

    Hi Jordi,
We are getting ipsec support with the "help"of the VSM (virtual services module).
this module carries as bunch of cpu's on top of which applications can be loaded. eg CGN, coming soon IPSEC and DPI also.
This module requires a slot. The asr9001 doesnt have slots so it can't carry the VSM, for which you need a 9904/9006/9010/9922.
There was talks about a crypto MPA too, I need to check in on that and will report back if there are plans for it.

  • ASR 9001-S

    Hi,
I am planning to buy new ASR 9001-S with A9K-MPA-20xGE card.
Any help regarding following questions are very appreciated:
    - Does IOS XR operating system some by default with the router or I have to order that separately?
    - According to the documentation, the RSP processor inside ASR 9001-S should include 8 GB RAM. Should be that ordered separately or it is included by default?
    - Do I need any additional license for routing/switching functionality, BGP full table, HSRP/VRRP, netflow..?
    - Does ASR 9001-S support TCP MSS feature?
Thank you very much in advance for the help!
    Kind regards
    Salja

That doesn't sound right to me Salja to be honest, but then I never really order the stuff, I just build it :) The way our sales force generally goes about it is one of the line items is the ios-xr software, effectively the right to use license and then you can pick the release you want.
431 is very old already hence I am questioning the validity of that answer. If XR 43 was selected you would get 434 minimally.
Anyways, regardless as to what rls it comes with, you can always download and upgrade your device with the release of choice from CCO.
    cheers!

  • Unable to power up MPA A9K-MPA-8X10GE state:FAILED

Hi Guys, need your advice. We have installed the MPA A9K-MPA-8X10GE to the line card and try multiple commands but failed to bring that up. However if we we reset the line card and it works. We understand as per spec this card is supporting OIR. The question is there any special command that can initialise the card and make it work without reseting the linecard We are not able to reset the LC because it is life machine. • Asr-9001-s upgrade license - SFP+2 and SFP+3 ?

I cannot seem to find a part number for a license upgrade to enable the addtional 2 10Gig sfp's on an asr-9001-s.
Does anyone have that information with the cost associated with it?
    Thanks
    Tom

    Hello,
If you upload the new IOS XE image change the boot statement in the config to the new image, then reboot, this should not have any change to how the ASR was operating before. (do read the release notes though in case)
If you already have the Advanced IP services license installed, you will not need another one. This stays with the ASR even when you change the IOS XE image on your ASR. I think actually the show ver will show the license information too.
show license all - this command will show you detailed information about license on your ASR
    conf t
license boot level advipservices - this will ensure your next boot uses this feature set.

  • ASR 1006 vs ASR 9001

    Hi All:
I would appreciate if someone can share their lifetime experience and suggest me to finalize the right product between ASR 1006 or ASR 9001.
    Requirements:
    - We need full internet feed with IPv4 and IPv6.
    -10 G & STM-16 interfaces for connectivity.
    - 10 Gbps traffic need to be handled by the box.
    - MPLS L3/L2 VPN's
I personally after going through IOS-XR feature, prefer this.
Need some expert thoughts in the light of real world experience.
    Regards,

    Hi Sayed,
ASR 9001 does not support STM-16 interfaces. It is purely 1 GE/10 GE platform.
If you are looking for an XR platform that supports STM-16 interfaces, you need to go with the 9006 (or 9904) , RSP-440, SIP-700 and POS SPA (for STM) and Typhoon 10GE linecard. (with Trident you might face an issue for the number of learned prefixes depending on the scale profile you choose: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/asr-9000-series-aggregation-services-routers/116999-problem-line-card-00.html)
If you decide to go with the ASR 1006, make sure you choose dual RP2 ( with 16GB mem), ESP-100 (or ESP-200) and SIP40. This should eliminate the TCAM exhaustion issue, if you decide to do NAT and ACL.; and guarantee and route-scale that might occur. (for the ASR 1000, I would recommend upgrading all of the memories)
    HTH,
    Michel.

  • ASR 9001 Licensing

    Hi,
I want to use the nV feature to cluster 2 ASR 9001.
For that I will need to add the A9K-NV-CLUSTR-LIC license.
What would the A9K-NVSAT5-LIC do for me? (nV Host License for up to 5 nV clients) I would need it to cluster my 2 ASR 9001?
I would also like to know if I would require the L-A9K-9001OPT-LIC= (ASR 9001 Advanced Optical License) in order to use 10Gbps fiber connections. What does this license provide to my ASR 9001?
Thanks a lot for the help.
    Regards,
    J

    Hi.
Let me answer your questions. I wrote an article about licensing on ASR 9000 - http://blog.netfi.co/cisco-asr-9000-licensing/
    1. nV Licensing
    A9K-NV-CLUSTR-LIC is for nV Edge
    A9K-NVSAT5-LIC allows you to connect 5 satellites (9000v, 901 or 903).
Additionaly you need appropriate license on ASR 901 or ASR 903. ASR 9000v doesn't require any additional license. More about it in my article.
    2. L-A9K-9001OPT-LIC=
You don't need this license to use 10G links. It allows you to configure G.709/ONT on 10G interfaces.

  • ASR-9001-FAN-V2

    Hi,
What is new with ASR-9001-FAN-V2 vs. ASR-9001-FAN? I cannot find any information about that on cisco.com nor googeling...
    Florian

    Hi Sam,
"Also note that this part is not supported until 5.1.1"
What does this mean exactly? For eg. I can't see the power supplies in "show inventory" on a router with version 4.3.4. Are there any other drawbacks or must the router be upgraded to >= 5.1.1?
    I also see this:
    Fan Information
Fan speed (rpm) and run time (in hours) :
            FAN0    FAN1    FAN2    FAN3    FAN4    FAN5    FAN6    FAN7    FAN8    FAN9    FAN10   FAN11   FAN12   FAN13
    0/FT0/* (Speed)
            10800   10830   10860   10920   10860   10920   11010   10950   10950   10830   10950   10920
Notice that FAN12 and FAN 13 have no output.
Does this mean that v2 fan has less fans than v1 or all of them are not functioning because of an unsupported version?
    Thanks, Karlo.

  • ASR 9001 console cable

Does the asr 9001 ship with a console cable ? The normal console cable does not seems to work ( used 115200 8N1 and No Flow).
Did any one have difficulties connecting the asr 9001 for the first time ?

I used an ordinary, blue DB9-to-RJ45, Cisco console cable (I believe it's called rollover cable) that I use for all Cisco devices that I need console access to (and not only those - same cables work for Sun servers as well).
I can't remember if the ASR was packed with its own console cable, but even if it was, I didn't use it.
