ASR kernel dump error

Hello All,
After upgrading a Cisco ASR 1001 using sub packages from XE 03.07.00b.S too XE 03.09.01.S (following the instructions detailed in the Cisco documentation but without redundant OS/RP) the device is continually reboots with the following error:
%IOSXEBOOT-4-ABORT: (rp/0): Command ‘cp –r /rmp/sw/rp/0/0/rp_security/mount/3pa/etc/* /etc’ failed
%IOSXEBOOT-4-ABORT: (rp/0): Command ‘cp –r /rmp/sw/rp/0/0/rp_security/mount/3pa/etc/* /etc’ failed
Starting IOS XE Kernel dump from previous failure.
Expected completion time is less than 5 minutes.
System will automatically reboot within 5 minutes.
The original sub packages are still present on this devices bootflash:
As per the documentation II basically copied over the consolidated image, unpacked then copied to the root of bootflash: then used the issu loadversion rp 0 file command to upload rpaccess, rpios and rpcontrol packages.  Then used issu commitversion and reloaded.

Hi ,
i have the same problem, new asr1001 router:
the router dont come up, only rebooting.

  • Short dump error report

What is the purpose of short dump error report generated by the system? What r the major parts/section of this report?

    hi please look through this:
Whenever any transaction or any process is executed it hits an ABAP code.
If there is any issue in executing the code the situation is called "ABAP DUMP" or 'Short Dump'
Transaction ST22 is used to check any ABAP Dump within a given duration.
U can also fix the issue with the help of ABAP editor (Transaction Code SE38) if u r good with ABAP.
you can select back to the last 14 days if you are
running the SAP_REORG_ABAPDUMPS job (program RSSNAPDL) which deletes te
old ABAP dumps every day, possibly further if you run it weekly or
    monthly.

Good explanation Joy, but it is not only limited to the current day and
yesterday. If you click on the Selection button you can select previous
days as well. In fact you can select back to the last 14 days if you are
running the SAP_REORG_ABAPDUMPS job (program RSSNAPDL) which deletes te
old ABAP dumps every day, possibly further if you run it weekly or
    monthly.

    Dear sreenivas
If you receive an error message in the R/3 System log (SM21), or if you
    see
a terminated update in the update service analysis transaction (SM13), or
    DB
realated error ,check for dumps using the dump analysis transaction
(transaction ST22), or choose Tools -> Administration -> Monitoring ->
    Dump
    analysis.
Transaction ST22 enables you to analyze short dumps from the current and
    previous day.
The dump analysis function shows you:
    What happened
    What you can do
    How to correct the error
The dump analysis function also provides an error ID and keywords that you
can use to search in SAPNet, as well as information about:
    The system environment
    Users and transactions
Transaction ST22 enables you to analyze the following data:
    Date, time, user, client
Contents of system and data fields
Contents of internal tables and application tables
ST22 is a very nice feature in SAP. This is where all the system errors
and users mistakes showed up. If there is a problem that you cannot
solve and you contact SAP support, they look at this area to analyze it.
This gives us lead where to handle the problems.

  • At the time of RFQ creation dump error

    Dear All,
At the time of RFQ creation one Dump error is coiming... please advise to solve this issue...
    the error message is :
    Runtime errors         SYNTAX_ERROR
           Occurred on     09.09.2009 at   12:10:27
Syntax error in program "SAPLV61A ".
    What happened?
The following syntax error occurred in the program SAPLV61A :
"Incorrect logical expression: Instead of "X" a field, a function or "("
    Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "SAPLMEVA" had to be terminated because one of the
    statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
Please eliminate the error by performing a syntax check
(or an extended program check) on the program "SAPLV61A ".
You can also perform the syntax check from the ABAP/4 Editor.
If the problem persists, proceed as follows:
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
    Error analysis
The following syntax error was found in the program SAPLV61A :
"Incorrect logical expression: Instead of "X" a field, a function or "("
    How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
    following documents to SAP:
    1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
    2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
       part.
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
       supply the source code.
To do this, you can either use the "PRINT" command in the editor or
print the programs using the report RSINCL00.
    4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.

  • Help needed in interpreting panic log from kernel panic error

My G4 iBook has started giving me kernel panic errors, often immediately after starting up. I haven't installed any new software or RAM recently. I've done a clean system install (completely clean - not an archive and install) then downloaded the combo update for 10.4.11. But the kernel panics are still happening from time to time. I've looked at the panic log, but it means nothing to me, so I'm hoping someone can help:

I didn't see anything that would indicate a specific problem. Understanding crash logs isn’t easy and it’s hard (sometimes impossible) to decipher the cause of the problem. Take a look at Apple’s Crash Reporter document at http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2004/tn2123.html
Also look at Tutorial: An introduction to reading Mac OS X crash reports
    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20060309075929717
Kernel panics are usually caused by a hardware problem – frequently RAM, a USB device or a Firewire device. What external devices do you have connected?
To eliminate RAM being the problem, Look at this link: *Testing RAM* @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.
May be a solution on one of these links.

A quick Google search lead to the assumption that this is due to a bad block, however I just tested it for bad block a few months ago. I'll check it again this after noon after work, but for now I wanted to get some other opinions. See if there is some other explanaition beyound a bad block.
[edit] The result of "smartctl -a /dev/sda". It looks like I might have an issue with my cable or something from the UDMA count.

[edit2] Just to make sure, I checked and found that none of the other drives have UDMA CRC errors, even the one that shares the same controller.

I just remembered that I have another thread on these forums about my Steam library disappearing. My steam library is on a raid0 btrfs volume that does not include the drive that the swap partition is on. The point being that if this is a drive issue, it is unrelated to the previous problem. if its a different hardware issue or a software issue, it could still be related.
[edit] The SMART information is in the opening thread now. It looks like it may be a cable issue.

    Dear Friends,
                           We got a dump error(SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC)

please let me know if you know the solution.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Shans.

Go to transaction code OMBT, click view "Intervals" and make sure the number range for previous fiscal year and current fiscal year is not clashing.
    for example:
Year        From Number   To Number      Current Number
    2010     4900000000     4999999999     5000533839
    2011      5000000000     5999999999     5000135509
In the above case it will give this dump SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC. There may be other reason also.
You can also follow this method
Go to T-code SE16N and input table name MKPF.
Step find:  Find the highest material document number.
Go to T-code SNUM or SNRO.and Input object MATBELEG ( direct OMBT)
      Click on 'Number ranges' button.
      Click on 'Intervals' button.
      Check 'Current number'
Now compare it with the highest material document number of STEP FIND.
Change 'Current number' to a higher number.
From my experience this normally happens when number ranged is transported from DEV to PRD accidentally during some IMG config.

I sincerely appreciate your support, I really like windows 7 but Windows XP I never thought such failures in the last hour I had 2 of them in the last 24 hours I've had 4 and in the last 7 days I've had 25.
It is a very distressing situation.

    YM
These were called BCC116 and are related to a video timeout/failure
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the Blue Screen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".
Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OS's like XP to crash.
As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.
If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.
The first step is to install the newest video driver.
If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.
Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.
Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.
If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.
I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

  • Short Dump Error

    Hi Everyone,
I'm loading 690k odd records to cube
I am facing short dump error while data request is processed to cube.
In ST22 i'm getting Timeout Error.
Buffer time is set for 10mins to process
Can  anyone guide me in this issue.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Due to data volume your load took more than 7hrs. in general time out time is 7hrs. so in your case its may exceeded.
Try to increase time out time for your info package.
Go to your info pack--> menu scheduler --> time out time--> increase 7 hrs to 14hrs and trigger your load again. if its full load delete failed load and retrigger.
    Thanks

Everything looks fine with the gt_layout, it is not an internal table, so no need to append to it, it is simply a structure, but you do tell it that TST is the expand field, but there is no field of this name in your internal for the header, so add it like this.
    DATA : BEGIN of ty_hdr,
    kunnr TYPE vbak-kunnr,
    name1 TYPE kna1-name1,
    netwr TYPE vbak-netwr,
    <b>TST  type c,</b>
    END of ty_hdr,
Doing so should make you program work correctly.

  • Dump error when clicked on text elements in SAP Script window

    Hi All,
There is an inclusion in SAP Script. I have written the code in driver program. I need to pass the value to SAP Script in the requested position. But when I go to SE71 > Form Name > Change or Display > MAIN Window > Text Elements > I get a dump error.
    Category               ABAP Programming Error
    Runtime Errors         DATA_LENGTH_TOO_LARGE
    Except.                CX_SY_RANGE_OUT_OF_BOUNDS
    ABAP Program           SAPLSTXK
    Application Component  BC-SRV-SCR
    Date and Time          30.04.2014 20:00:08
    Short text
Invalid partial field access: Length is too large
    What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "SAPLSTXK" had to be terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
    What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
         administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_RANGE_OUT_OF_BOUNDS', was not
          caught in
procedure "TOKEN_COMMENT" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
In the executed program "SAPLSTXK", the system attempted to access the field
"ITF_TOKEN" of the type "C" and with the length 255 using the length 272.
However, a partial field access with a length specification that is
larger than the field length is not allowed.
    How to correct the error
Reduce the length used to access the field.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
        keywords:
        "DATA_LENGTH_TOO_LARGE" "CX_SY_RANGE_OUT_OF_BOUNDS"
        "SAPLSTXK" or "LSTXKFRN"
        "TOKEN_COMMENT"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error

you didnt seem to have configured the datasource / connection pool / database control with proper db properties
you should check your configuration to see if you have done it right and then you should check your application and the properties settings in the controls to ensure they are right.

    Hi Bansidhar,
It would be helpful if you could tell what type of dump it is.
If it is a timeout you should check whether l_t_backorder_item is empty - in this case ALL document numbers are selected. f you get the timeout with a populated table consider converting the l_t_backorder_item table into one ore more ranges tables - the select with ranges tables is way quicker than 'for all entries'. But take care the ranges table has not to many entries - the SAP SQL converter puts this into one huge SQL statement and this might become too big to be handled by the database (depends on the actual underlying database).
I would also consider splitting the SELECT into two (2nd one with 'appending into table') to make the code easier to understand It also helps the database system determining a strategy for the select.
