ASR9006/A9K-MPA-4X10GE

Hi,
we are new on ASR and IOS XR. We have an ASR 9006 with the line card in the discussion subject (A9K-MPA-4X10GE). The four leds on the card are red. Is there any command to activate? Is a Layer 1 problem?
Our release is Cisco IOS XR Software, Version 4.3.0[Default].
Thank You!!!

Red LEDs mean that Port is physically down at layer-1. Are these ports connected at other end with 10G device??
Can you please share the output of following;

  • Unable to power up MPA A9K-MPA-8X10GE state:FAILED

Hi Guys, need your advice. We have installed the MPA A9K-MPA-8X10GE to the line card and try multiple commands but failed to bring that up. However if we we reset the line card and it works. We understand as per spec this card is supporting OIR. The question is there any special command that can initialise the card and make it work without reseting the linecard We are not able to reset the LC because it is life machine. • Amount of buffers on ASR9001

    Hi,
I need to find out the amount of buffers on the ASR 9001 platform, both for integrated ports and
    A9K-MPA-4X10GE.
    Do anyone have these available?
    Daniel Dib
    CCIE #37149
    Please rate helpful posts.

    hi daniel,
the 9001 is based on the MOD80 linecard.
This linecard has 2 NPU's for the feature processing.
Each MPA bay has a dedicated NPU and also serves 2 of the 4 onboard 10GEs.
This NPU has several pieces of memory attached like a TCAM, stats memory, 2xsearch memory for each MAC and L3 FIB
and there is also buffer memory.
This buffer memory is shared is 1G in the TR version and 2G on the SE version of the linecard.
The "LC type" for the 9001 is the SE version hence you have 2G of buffer memory that can be used for all interfaces
depending on their qos policy-map configuration and more particular the queue-limit that is assigned to it.
you can use the command show qos int to see what the hw programmed for queue limit.

  • ASR 9001 nV Connection

    Hi,
to use the nV feature with 2xASR9001, I will require 2 IRL of 10 Gbps.
I will be using the A9k-MPA-4x10GE (module to add 4x10GE ports). I would like to know if I would be able to use the ports of the module A9k-MPA-4x10GE to create the IRL? (They use XFP).
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    J

    Hi Jordi,
Yes, you can use either the MPA ports or on-board ports for IRLs, or even both. The restrictions on optics is that of the LC/MPA you are using.
EOBC ports are the only ones with more restrictions.
See section 3.6 and addendum of https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-34114 for more details on the EOBC and 9001 limitations.
    Thanks,
    Sam

  • ASR 9001 QoS Capabilities

    Hello,
As I understood, ASR 9001 has integrated 4 onboard 10 GB interfaces and two Line Card slots. It has MOD 80 architecture.
Onboard 10 Gb interfaces has same QoS capabilities as MOD TR modular line cards. ( 8 queues per port and etc)
What about the two Line Card Slots? If I use A9K-MPA-20x1GE, A9K-MPA-2x10GE or A9K-MPA-4x10GE line card , which QoS specifications I will have? Like MOD SE or MOD TR?  As I know, these line cards has SE functions on the ASR 9001/9001S. Does it mean more than 8 queues per port? Can I terminate Pseudowire Headend on these interfaces and use QoS on them?
    Regards,
    Guner

Noup, the ingress / egress counters keep in 0, some times ARP complete sometimes it dont.
The router crash traing to do an OIR.

Apologies if this has already been asked but I want to know if there is a way to view access-list counters when it is used in a class-map and the policy-map is applied to an interface.

    Regards,
    Amit.

    Hi Amit,
Since you are using access-list in a  service policy applied to an interface.
Are you not seeing matches when you do "show policy-map interface g0/0/1/x in/out ?
In order to see the "show access-list" output you have to apply the acl in/out to the interface.
    Best Regards,
    Bheem

  • Prime Network and ASR 9001

I have Prime Network 4.0 and ASR 9001 with A9K-MPA-20x1GE and IOS XR 5.1.0. Prime connects to ASR9k with Telnet, SNMP and XML, status says reachable, operational. Updated prime to latest PrimeNetwork-4.0-DP1308.
Still, Prime can not see any physical interfaces except MgmtEth (no on-board 4x10G, no 20x1G). Basically, nothing in Slot0.
Can not see any VRFs and BNG functionality configured in VRF.
Only single static route in routing table (does not show connected routes in global routing table)
    What can it be?
Is it me not configuring something, or Prime Network should not be seeing this things?
    George

I assume you are asking about Cisco Prime LAN Management System (LMS) vs. Cisco Prime Infrastructure (PI).
LMS is currently the leading Cisco offering for wired infrastructure management. It is the evolution of the earlier CiscoWorks LMS, CiscoWorks RWAN CiscoWorks 2000, CWSI, VLAN Director, original CiscoWorks classic etc. products going back almost 20 years.
PI is the equivalent Cisco offering for wireless LANs and is the successor to NCS and WCS products.
The overlap and confusion comes from the fact the Cisco is positioning PI as the overall wireless and wired management platform and gradually introducing wired network management features to make it equal (and eventually exceed) LMS's capabilities.
There is a comparison table here that shows the current differences. A major new release of PI (2.0) is due out shortly which will close many (but not all) of the gaps on that table.

  • ASR 9001-S

    Hi,
I am planning to buy new ASR 9001-S with A9K-MPA-20xGE card.
Any help regarding following questions are very appreciated:
    - Does IOS XR operating system some by default with the router or I have to order that separately?
    - According to the documentation, the RSP processor inside ASR 9001-S should include 8 GB RAM. Should be that ordered separately or it is included by default?
    - Do I need any additional license for routing/switching functionality, BGP full table, HSRP/VRRP, netflow..?
    - Does ASR 9001-S support TCP MSS feature?
Thank you very much in advance for the help!
    Kind regards
    Salja

That doesn't sound right to me Salja to be honest, but then I never really order the stuff, I just build it :) The way our sales force generally goes about it is one of the line items is the ios-xr software, effectively the right to use license and then you can pick the release you want.
431 is very old already hence I am questioning the validity of that answer. If XR 43 was selected you would get 434 minimally.
Anyways, regardless as to what rls it comes with, you can always download and upgrade your device with the release of choice from CCO.
    cheers!
