Assamese language India in Adobe PageMaker 7 in Windows 8.1 Pro x64 environment

How can I type 'Assamese language, India' in Adobe PageMaker 7 in Windows 8.1 Pro x64 environment ?
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-performance/assamese-language- india-in-adobe-pagemaker-7-in/3f97fbde-332c-48f1-a7f0-62f617af8fde

You will run into many problems as pagemaker is obsolete. It really only runs under win xp. Some people claim they can get it to run on windows 7, 8 but often run into problems when it comes to printing/pdf creation.
The other problem is that pagemaker will only support the first 255 characters in a font, which severely limits it's usefulness. There was a middle eastern version of pagemaker with special fonts, but I don't think it's still available.
I would look into Indesign, but research the language support before commiting to Indesign, as it may require some additional software, and or workarounds. Post your question in the Indesign forums.

Update Bluetooth driver using windows update if Windows detect the dongle, if not go to next step
If Bluetooth is not detected, mean that the actual hardware somehow is disabled. In order to enable, boot the PC with a Windows 7 live DVD with the USB drive installed in the PC. After PC been running with Windows 7 live, Install the file “h1100174.exe” previously copy in the USB drive. Use the USB drive also as installation path for the Bluetooth software, when the installation is done, look in the folder “X:\Program Files\Lenovo\Bluetooth Software” and run the file name “BTTray.exe”, press right click in the Red Bluetooth icon on the taskbar to enabled the Bluetooth dongle. Reboot PC in Windows 8.1 without any DVD media inside, this time Windows 8.1 will be able to recognize the Bluetooth and install the respective drivers.
Another way, install the latest release from Broadcom BTW_12.0.0.9820 from the following link:
                                                                            BTW_12.0.0.9820.zip
directly in Windows 8.1. Remember if the software is uninstall the Bluetooth will be disabled and
Windows will not be able to see the device in the “Device Manager”
Last step, use your own Windows 8.1 Pro Key and Office 2013 key to register and activated your legal copy of the Microsoft software’s.
    Final, enjoy.

  • Desktop Windows Composition and Windows 8.1 Pro x64 [SOLVED]

Hi, I'm Jenn, also new to these forums.
I stumbled upon a problem when switching from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8.1 Pro x64.
I have the EXACT same setup, same laptop, same hardware, same programs, same configuration, everything.
    Windows 7 never did anything like the problem I now have in Win 8.1. Here's the problem;
Whenever I run more than 1 3D application, after 1-5 minutes the screen blinks, and hangs the graphics of one, some or all the programs (randomly). It doesn't hang the actual program (or game), it just stops rendering the graphics -- I can still hear the software's
sound and if I click around, I can hear myself interacting with it.
I have ALL the latest drivers for the computer, motherboard, ALL devices including graphics cards etc. Also ALL Windows Updates installed, nothing more to install.
All of the programs I use is specifically set to use only the nVidia adapter, forcibly through the nVidia Control Panel, so it's not a switching graphics problem because it's a laptop. Also, never was a problem in Windows 7 either.
    Here's what I gathered from event viewer right when it happened;
A logon was attempted using explicit credentials.
    Subject:
    Security ID: SYSTEM
    Account Name: PIXIELIGHT$
    Account Domain: HYPERUNKNOWN

An account was successfully logged on.

    Account Name: DWM-1
    Account Domain: Window Manager
    Logon ID: 0x3E3290A
    Logon Type: 2
So as you can see, DWM is logging in and out some account that can be all the way up to DWM-7 from what I've seen so far. It just logs in, sets some parameters and the directly logs out.
This is a ONE-user system, Only my user account is on it, and remote login has been disabled.
In Windows 7, at least DWM could be disabled - not that I ever had to, because it worked with all my stuff, but seeing as DWM is screwing up totally in Win8, I thought I'd just disable the server, but it's nowhere to be found.
Also, it seems Microsoft changed how it works, the system has been redesigned to generate an OK even if it's still on, like this example below:
DwmEnableComposition( DWM_EC_DISABLECOMPOSITION ) does not work on Windows 8, even though it returns S_OK.  Confirmation is by calling DwmIsCompositionEnabled(), which shows the former function had no effect.
    There's only 1 dwm.exe running.
There's only 1 user logged in (me).
There's only 1 user in the userlist (except for the Administrator account).
Running only 1 of the softwares at a time is not an option for me, either for work or for home use, so how can I fix this?
    // Jenn

    Hi Jenn,
Please take a look at the following article.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh848042(v=vs.85).aspx
In Windows 8, Desktop Window Manager (DWM) is always ON and cannot be disabled by end users and apps.
I suggest you to download and install the graphic driver from the manufacturer and check if this issue still exist.
As you may have two graphic cards, we could temporally disable one and check if there are compatibility issues.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro x64 update issue

Hi. Having installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64 on my business laptop (installed all drivers, fully updated it from Microsoft . . .) I joined it to the domain and installed needed apps. Then I put it in OU where updating of all computers inside that OU was via
WSUS. In WSUS updating is set to automatically download but notify for install. I noticed that in control panel - windows update there are number of updates waiting to be installed but in shut down menu I do not have either
update and restart or update and shut down - in other words there is no any notification that updates are waiting to be installed. I am not 100 % sure but I think when updating was directly from Microsoft update servers
update and restart and update and shut down were there. How to solve this - leave laptop to update itself via WSUS which is in fact recommended solution and have
update and restart and update and shut down. It is insane if I have always to go to control panel - windows update and check from there if there are some updates waiting to be installed.

    Hi,
Windows 8/8.1 will notify you that your PC will be restarted in X days to finish installing security updates on the right corner of the logon screen.
Here is an article talking about Minimizing restarts after automatic updating in Windows Update, please take a look for the notification:
Minimizing restarts after automatic updating in Windows Update
Besides, we could also take a look at the following article regarding the notification of Windows update.
Where are Windows 8 Update Notifications ?

  • G510 Windows 8.1 Pro X64 Conexant Audio Driver Error and Driver Update Request

When are we to expect some updates in the drivers for G510, specifically for both graphics (Intel and AMD)
Also I am using G510S's Lenovo Power Management for Windows 8.1(running with no issues) as Windows 8 version was not compatible and there is no Win8.1 version.
And there is an update available for Conexant Audio in windows update and after the update when ever I play music, a few seconds in the Audio Device stops(a red cross on volume icon) and then troubleshooter automatically runs and fixes the audio device and audio comes back.
Also I would like to request that you bring back Dobly Advanced Audio v2 that was available with WINDOWS 8 version of the driver. It was just much more convienient and I liked its graphics equilizer much better.
    K thnx

  • Unable to activate Hyper-V on Windows 8.1 pro x64

    Hi there,
I tried to activate Hyper-V on my desktop :
    1. Add/Remove Features
    2. Add Hyper-V, and all subsets
    3. Click OK.
    4. Click Restart when prompted.
    5. Computer will reboot and then work on configuring features.  I got the error message "Unable to add feature...".
    My configuration :
    MotherBoard : ASRock Z77 pro3
    Processor : Intel I5 3570k
    RAM : 8 Gb
    OS: Windows 8.1 pro x64
    OEM fully activated and updated.
I checked with intel processor identification utility, and my processor support SLAT (VT -x) and Intel virtualisation. I checked too with some tools (coreinfo, systeminfo), everything is ok..).
I updated my BIOS and activated the Virtualisation option.
No way to make it work..
    Can anyone help me ?

If you have other virtualisation applications (VMWare, VirtualBox...) installed on your computer then make sure to check in the TaskManager that there is no running processes from those virtual machines. Hyper-V won't install if there are other virtualisation
    processes running.
One other hint when you get Hyper-V up and running is that you will have to add a boot option so that you are able to boot into Windows without Hyper-V services running if you want to use VMWare in paralell with Hyper-V. VMWare will completely break and have
to be reinstalled if you try to run a VM inside it while Hyper-V services are running. Trust me, been there done that and it was an ugly mess. :-)

  • PowerShell on Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Last week I installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64 on my business laptop. Since I am in the process of learning PowerShell I could not find PowerShell(x86) nor PowerShell ISE and PowerShell ISE(x86), I found only PowerShell. Is this normal or something went
wrong during installation of Windows 8.1 Pro x64? To make things more interesting my colleague has the same OS and he has PowerShell(x86), I did not check whether he had PowerShell ISE and PowerShell ISE(x86). What is going on?
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Adobe Reader will not set as default application for .pdf in windows 8.1 pro x64

When I install adobe reader the icon/app changes from windows reader to Pick an app, I choose change and select adobe reader, the icons on my desktop flicker but nothing actually changes.Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs\Set Program Associations, Select adobe reader, Choose defaults for this program, PDF is unticked so I tick it and choose save, go back in and it is unticked again??? Right click on a pdf file, choose open with, choose default program, use this app for all .pdf files is ticked, select adobe...Still nothing changes, stays on pick an app. I uninstall adobe reader then the pdf icon changes to and default opens with windows reader again. Reinstall adobe reader and back to the same thing. ???? I am a power user, build configure computers and subsequent software, started with DOS 6.0, learned unix/linux/networking concepts/networking security/server versions of windows/active directory. The only solution I could think of was to hack the registry which I looked for but could not find. I am running 8.1 pro x64, I just discovered that windows reader (which I cant uninstall) has the same problem when adobe reader is installed. Windows will not allow either one to be set as default while they co-exist.

After an extended session with chat only to be told that since Adobe Reader was free they could not help me :-(... I figured it out myself.
I opened a administrator: command prompt window and typed "regedit"  Through extensive searching and stumbled on this key located at... HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2274202122-2588692262-2244265822-1001_Classes\.pdf\OpenWithProgids  The S-1-5-21...1001... is my current logged on user, your value may differ slightly. Typically the builtin disabled administrator account is 1000 and when you install windows and create a user account "John Doe" it will have administrator priveleges and be auto numbered 1001, every user account created therafter will increase by 1 ie...1002, 1003, 1004 etc. even if you remove (delete) an account and re-create it you wont get the same number, the system will use the next number in sequence. The old one will have been trashed never to be used again. Again here is the key...
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2274202122-2588692262-2244265822-1001_Classes\.pdf\OpenWithProgids I deleted this key under (default) on the right side...
    Name                                                                       Type                                           Data
    (Default)                                                                   REG_SZ                                    (value not set)
AppX86746z2101ayy2ygv3g96e4eqdf8r99j            REG_NONE                              (zero-length binary value)  ---- This is the key to delete!!!
Personally I selected computer on the left side and the went to file/export then chose a file name [01 29 2014 regbackup.reg] and location. Then I selected "OpenWithProgids" and did the same thing,[pdf.reg] this saves a backup of the entire regestry and the key you are about to delete as a safety net. When you are done all you have to do is go to a pdf file, right click and choose open with...Adobe Reader - the box always use this app should already be checked.
I did this and it works yet because improper regestry modification can crash your system I am compelled to warn... Use at your own risk. If you are uncomfortable modifying your registry I would suggest consulting with someone qualified and has resources to do offline registry modifications/restorations which makes it VERY important to do the computer export registry backup.

  • Windows 8.1 Pro x64 BSOD 0x9f DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

I bought a new ASUS N76VZ about 2 weeks ago that came with Windows 8. I did a clean upgrade to windows 8.1 Pro and I proceed to install the drivers for the various utilities for the system. Shortly afterward, I repeatedly get this bugcheck stop error at
    least once a day.
This is very annoying as I am a college student and it makes it difficult to to keep up if it throws this error when in class (which it has done so twice already). I proceeded to do some research into the cause of the error and i have found it comes back
to a hardware compatibility issue (I assume, if not then your welcome to correct me).
The following minidumps can be found at http://sdrv.ms/1blPxrT.  If anyone could shed some light on the exact cause of the problem would be much appreciated. If the above minidumps do not have enough information to find the cause, let me know and
i will get whatever is needed.
    Thanks.

    HO
Still blamed on the video driver and the video driver is the same date.  You need to find a drive (older) that will work.  I would also consider removing Symantec.

Symantec is a frequent cause of BSOD's.
I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

  • Software Cannot Connect to Internet in Windows 8.1 Pro x64

I am not able to use FB poster & scheduler with my version of Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.
But my friend who have the same Windows can run this piece of software without any issue. I tried uninstalling my anti-virus, firewall exception list, trusted sites list still no use.
The same message pop-ups whenever I open this software. What should I do now?
I cannot post images now. This is the reply I am getting as of now:
"An error occurred while trying to connect to NTWEB server. Please try again.

I tried clean boot yet still getting the same error message. Why this happens?

  • Adobe Illustrator CS6 (Windows 7 64 Pro) File Save Anomaly - video link included - HELP?!

When I save a Illustrator file, all my toolbars blink, flash, and turn 'black'.... and the files take an unusual amount of time to save.  I have inlcuded a video link so you can see exactly what it is doing...
Wondering what is causing this, and how I can fix it.
The file shown in the link is 64 mb.... and has about 4-5 Photoshop placed images.
I have Extensis Suitcase Fusion 4 installed.... someone said that might be an issue???
I believe all my system fonts are intact..... at least Fusion shows them as 'protected from deletion.'
Illustrator crashed a lot too and I have no choice but to 'Close the Program.'
    Any ideas?
System has a Intel i7 920 processor, 12 gb ram, dedicated GeForce GTX 660 video card, and speedy hard drives..... what the heck is causing the chaos?
    Thanks.
    Here's the link....    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENpTpn6so5E
PLEASE SELECT 'HD' IN THE YOUTUBE VIDEO OF MY ILLUSTRATOR PROBLEM.....

    Todd,
    I believe the message,
This file has been moderated outside Illustrator. Do you wish to continue?
    may hold the key.
This old but time extended thread has a discussion about possible reason without any conclusion, but font management (including Suitcase) and working on a network both seem to be ruled out:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1272708
Does it also occur when all other applications (including browsers) are closed, so nothing can interfere or disturb and confuse Illy?
I believe the toolbar strangenesses may simply be owing to the effect of Illy struggling to save with heavy use of RAM.
I wonder whether one of our forum staff friends may contribute an explanation, and maybe even a cure (when they return (it is Saturday afternoon over there, and Sunday morning with them)).

  • UE4 demos not running due to dependency issues after upgraded from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Hi, I posted a more in detail thread about this on the UE4 forums.
    https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/84890/dependency-issues-with-running-ue4-demos.html

    Hi,
Are you using a Gmail account on both Outlook PC client and on the phone? Is it an IMAP account?
Since you mentioned it also occurs to your phone, have you tried to logon the Gmail webmail to check the account status? If new emails sent to the account don't show up on the phone, it's not isolated to Outlook then, we need to contact the Gmail support
    to get this issue addressed.
For the emails missing issue, I suggest you just open the .pst file instead of importing it. In Outlook 2013, go to FILE tab -> Open & Export -> Open Outlook Data File -> Browse to the .pst file and open it. It should then be displayed
in the account list on left. Check if the emails are still missing.
If you can confirm you included the emails in 2014 but they are still nowhere in sight, they may be filtered by the Outlook View. Run Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews" to check whether the emails are shown:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /cleanviews" in the blank box, press Enter. Outlook will reset default view, all custom views will be lost.
Let me know if you have further questions.

  • Pagemaker and Windows 7

I have installed Pagemaker 7.0.1a on my new Windows 7 (64-bit) computer.  Works fine until I try to shut Pagemaker down.
When shutting down, I get a Windows error that "Adobe Pagemaker for Windows application file has stopped working.  Check online for a solution or Close the program".
It's not a big deal but of my recently opened file history is saved.
Any ideas why PM7 won't shutdown properly??

1st Fact is: IT WORKS. I do this EVERY WEEK, and ads are sent to several publications, and they all run just like I sent them.
2nd Fact is: I've had 2 versions of Acrobat on my machine for several years. Acrobat 5.0 came on the disk with PM7 and is meant to be used with PM7. That's the only thing that version is used for. No, it's not the best scenario to have 2 versions of Acrobat on your computer, but honestly, it doesn't HURT anything, and if you need it to make PM work correctly, what's the problem?
And if you think about it... if someone is creating their design work in Pagemaker, there ISN'T any transparency effects available, so why the debate on transparency?  No, Acrobat 5.0 does not support transparencies. But that's a mute point since this guy is talking about he needs to place the PDF's in Pagemaker. I gave the solution: change the version of the PDF to 4.0. You can do this in Acrobat 9.0 as a matter of fact by setting up a job option to change the PDF down to that version. If you run into transparency issue because the design work was made in a more advanced application, but you HAVE to get it to work in Pagemaker as a placed PDF, then your next step is to do the Photoshop trick. I GUARANTEE it will work, and if someone didn't tell you what had been done to the PDF, you'd never know by looking at final quality when it prints. And no... the printers at these publications do not have trouble with my files.
This isn't some crazy idea I came up with myself, it was taught to me by a well-known PDF expert, so please, watch the tone. This isn't the "worst advice." These people that come here are looking for help because they are in Pagemaker for a reason. They don't need to be told they are behind the times and should be using ID... EVERY. DARN. TIME. Sometimes that's not an option for people. I use both, for very good reasons. I watch these posts and jump in when I can help. These people just want an answer and solution to their issue, and some of us just want to help with advice that has and IS working for us. You are discouraging people from helping those in need when you say things like that.
BobCausedThis: The Photoshop trick for problematic PDF's: TRY IT. It doesn't hurt anything to try it. It works, I swear.   And, if you need to know the best settings for your Distiller, contact the publication you are working with and ask them. They will tell you exactly what settings they will prefer. Some even give screen shots of each tab in Distiller!

  • How can I get Acrobat 7 Pro to work with Windows 8.1 Pro?

Apparently Acrobat Pro 7 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 Pro X64. I am trying to save a web page to pdf but this feature does not work in Windows 8.1 Pro. Is there a patch or update that will fix this problem?

It might be possible to get a lot of it working, but you will have to install a separate PS driver and rename it Adobe PDF and set the port to File. The print process is then to print to the Adobe PDF printer and then open the created file in Distiller to complete the process. I have been successful with this on a Win7, 64-bit system, but not tried it on a Win8 system. You are pretty much on your own if problems arise, unless you are willing to try wild suggestions that we might give (guesses really).
