Assertion failed? Tried trouble shooting and was unable to fix.

I tried to use the FAQs to fix the issue.
Error: 'assertion failed' | Update | Windows
I was unable to complete the last step and am still unsure as to what the problem is and how it can be fixed. I have tried contacting Adobe, and surprise surprise, they aren't available for customer support on the weekend. This is extremely frustrating because I have a customer waiting on photos I had been editing since yesterday. Can anyone help?

Are you connecting via wifi? If so, I suspect that there is some network interference.
