Asset acquisition date (How to change?)

Asset capitalization date = 1day of depreciation calculation
Asset acquisition date = day of first cost allocation to the asset
Asset value date = date of effect in asset account of a posting
From the above dates, I would like to have a try to give my understanding on them.
Let say I have acquire an asset through a PO -> GR -> IR on 15 Oct 2007.
If I set the Cap Date as on 01 Nov 2007, and Asset Value date as on 01 Dec 2007, does this mean that ...
Question 1:
My Asset depreciation will starts on Dec, with 2 months depreciation, which is Nov and Dec (because my Asset Cap Date is on 01 Nov 2007)?
Question 2:
What if I want to change the Asset acquisition date to, say 01 Nov 2007?
I tried AB08 to reverse the asset, and change the GR posting date (through MIGO), and these date affect asset value date only.
I tried also to reverse the IR (using MR8M) and re-post the IR using Miro, with different Invoice and Posting date, these date only affect the FI documents.
I tried AS02, and I can only change Cap date, and NOT the acquisition date.
Please help on this, and clarify the usage / importance of the acquisition date.
As per AS03 (wrong first acquisition date)
Andreas Mann said that crucial is the "asset value date" (field BZDAT)it should be 31.05.2007, than first acquisition date is not important

Capitalization Date= Date on which the asset will be capitalized
Acqusition Date= Date on which first transaction is done on the asset after creation. It cannot be changed once a value is posted to the asset
Asset Value Date is important to determine the Depreciation
Asset value Date determines the postings to the asset. You can set the configuration for default asset value date. It is the date with which user wants to post to the asset, i.e it can be Document Date, Posting Date, Capitalization Date, Goods Receipt date. Check the list in
Asset Accounting> Transactions> Specify How Default Asset Value Date is Determined
Ordinary Depreciation Start Date Date on which the system starts calculates and posts depreciation
Ordinary Depreciation Start Date can be determined by the system through Priod controls defined or entered manually by the user. If entered manually it surpass the system calculated date.

Hi Marko.
Go to t-code PA30, enter the personnel number of the employee whom you have hired.
At the top in the menu bar, select "UTILITIES" - "Change entry/leaving date".
It will take you to the screen - "Change Actions" - Change " Start date".
This will correct the hiring date of the employee.

BC4J: database connection data - how to change it

We have created a project with too may BC4J objects. The connection information is stored in diferent configuration files (*.jpx, *.xml, *.xcfg).
That information sure will have to change during the development process and in the deployment phase. I would like to know if there is any other way to store that information in a more compact mode or how to change it dinamycally.

We have the same problem. The future is likely to have
20+ packages with separate projects and module.xcfg files.
Presently we're deploying 4 modules with 6 AMs.
This is what we did:
- All desktops are configured exactly alike!!! No exceptions.
We use the same name for the development DB connection (Jdev conn)
and have a std naming convention for OSCM work areas and
Jdev project.jpr and .jps's etc.
- We use datasource DB connection description. Search this
forum for data-source.xml or datasource and look for my
posts (Curt Smith). I posted a definative explanation of the
ins and outs.
- This allows everyone to checkout from the src control the .jpr, .xcfg etc
and the db connection name is the same and itall_works_.
In development anyway. ;(
- Another rule, NO changing the AM params via AM-right click-Configuration.
This keeps the AM parameterization out of the module.xcfg. This is
a very important rule for your production env.
The production environment does:
- AM params are configured on the cmd line for ALL AM's.
-Djbo.this.that=somevalue.

How to change cost center in asset master data through mass changes

Hi,
For 20 assets it won't be useful to write a CATT or LSMW. So, either enter it manually or you could correct directly in the tables (ANLZ), though it's generally not recommended.

It is not possible to change the data in the cube.
If you need to change then make the request status to RED, Delete the request from the cube, Before that confirm whether the request in PSA is not deleted.
Edit the data in PSA and the the data again from PSA.

I FOUND THE WAY!
If you change the region to somewhere that is not the US (settings ==> general ==> language & region) then it should adjust to the type of weight and hight and everything else unit that your country uses!

FI-AA / CO - Impossible to input cost center in asset acquisition

Hello everyone,
I have a question about asset acquisition postings (transaction ABSO).
In first item of the document (with posting key 70) i click on 'Additional account assignement' but fields 'Cost center' and 'Profit center' are both locked (no possible entries).
I state that:
AA
1) Additional account object as KOSTL (Cost center) is active in AA customizing
2) Account assignment object for dep. area 01 (trsx. ACSET) displays KOSTL for '*' all Asset transaction type
GL
1) In Account master data field status group provides Cost center as optional entry
CO
1) Cost center is active for the relating controlling area
2) The acquisition account is correctly opened as statistical cost element
The same thing happens if i try to post with transaction AB01 instead of ABSO, but if I remove 'A - Asset' from transaction OAMK (Change control of reconciliation Accounts) i could input cost center in a generic FI posting.
How i could insert cost center code in transaction ABSO for the first item of the document ?
Why the transaciont did not inherit cost center from Asset master data ?
Some parameterization missed in CO customizing (or GL or AA) ?

Please check the setup as follows:
1. Go to Financial Accounting -> Asset Accounting -> Integration with the general ledger -> Additional account assignment
     objects -> Activate Account Assignment Objects. Is the filed 'Agreement' is set as 'X' for object COST CENTER ? If this
     indicator is checked, you are not able to enter cost center when posting acquisition, even via tcode F-90. This ensures the
     consistency of the cost center value with that in asset master data.
     However, the cost center will not be inherited from asset master data before you change message status, as described in
     next step.
2. Go to OBA5. Enter Application Area 'KI', click Enter and then switch off message 098.

Useful life is asking mandatory field in asset master data

while asset master creation useful life is asking mandatory field in dep.key : ZSLU. actually i have to give "ZERO" in useful life field. i have set screen layout in AO21 also.again asking mandatory field. I got the one point, I think this is the problem,
Note: Base method 0011 (Ordinary: percentage from useful life) already assigned in dep. Key ZSLU. If we assigned in dep. key ZSLU, we should give positive values for useful life in asset master data.
I changed base method 0002 instead of 0011, it was accepted, If i change base method(0011),
i want base method instead of 0011?
which base method i have to give? please give suggestion?

i have changed optional field also. it's asking mandatory, i have tested base method 0002 instead of 0011. if i give 0002 or other base method, it is accepting.
Note: if we mention base method 0011, we must give passitive values in useful life.
what i have to do? please tell me?

Hi,
You can change the asset cap date at any point of time using AS02.
But the date in the First acquisition on cannot be changed, since it is a display field.
At the time of changing the cap date, system will shows an warning message like below.....
You should no longer change the capitalization date
Message no. AA225
Diagnosis
You have changed the asset capitalization date.
You can make this change, however this warning should make you aware of the consequences of such a change.}
And what is the business requirement to change the cap date?, since if you have already posted the dep posting, it doesnot make any adjustment to it.

the field "anla-zugdt" is only for automatic inputting when we run
first posting to asset. I am sorry there is no other workaround
to make it as the "input field". It is standard design.

How to change WBS Element in FI Entry for Asset

Hi all,
I have a scenario where an asset has been capitalized with WBS element 1. After several months we realized that it has to go to WBS element 2.
We update the Asset Master Data with a new WBS Element 2.
Depreciation from this date onwards is posted to WBS Element 2 (this is expected), but in FI the asset acquisition cost is still in WBS element 1.
Does anyone know how to rectify the FI document with correct WBS element i.e WBS Element 2
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi Pramod,
In posted document you cant change the WBS element.
In order to post on WBS 2 , you have to reverse the acquisation entry posted on WBS1. Then update correct one in asset master then post acquisation.

How to change the capitalization date

Hi ,
I carried out WBS to AUC settlement on 31.12.2009, due to which AUC cap. date becomes 31.12.2009. Now i want to change the cap date to 01.12.2009. How do i do it? Reversing the settlement using CJ88 can only change the first Acq date but not the cap date. Also cap date is not an editable option in AS02.
Reason for all this is that i want the cap date of fixed asset to be 01.12.2009.

Thanks for your reply. Are there any implications of changing the cap date manually? Is it an advisable option or is it better to keep asset value date as 31.12.2009 and then post an unplanned dep for the asset.

How to activate fields under origin tab in the asset master data

Hello Gururs,
While creating asset master data under origin tab there are two fields in display mode . I am unable to change these fields . the fields are 1.) Asset purchase new. 2.) Purchase used. I want to check one of these two check boxes. But they are in display mode. How can i activate these two fields.
In asset master data screen layout also i didnot find these two fields under origin category . Pls advice
