Asset against 2 WBSs
Is is possible to assign 2 different WBS to the same asset / equipment / FLoc?
Or is this achieved through the Work Order, Settlement Procedure?
Cheers,
Andrés.
HI,
in technical object master data there is only one field for WBS element uder account assignment. So you cant assign two WBS there is standard system.,
But in maintenance order if you want to use different WBS for Settlement purpose then you can enter different WBS in the additional data tab . By this the original WBS of technical object will be changed by new WBS elemnt and settlement will be created for this new WBS.
in maintenance order you can have two WBS one in location tab and other in additional data tab for settlement.

Asset issuance against material in MB1A..
Hi:
We have decided to witch our old procedure of capitalizing asset through MIGO. Our AS IS and TO BE processed are
AS-IS Process:
PR--Account assignment category A
PO...For asset procured
MIGO ...capitalizing the asset
TO-BE process:
Open Asset material and its material PR
PO and its MIGO
later issue asset against material in MB1A with movement type 241..My concerns here are that asset materials are opened with indicator V and amount with which asset is capitalized is not the one with which PO was made and MIGO was done for asset material , instead it is MAP of material which system takes while issuing asset against material...We can not open asset material with S indicator since most of out IT based asset's price fluctuates period to period.
Please comment .
Regards
Edited by: Atif Farooq on Oct 27, 2011 12:16 PMyou can try the internal order route
create internal order
procure the materials against the internal order ( PO acct assign, ment F and internal order mandatory)
settle the order against a WIP ( work in progress) asset
create assets by settling the WIP asset against the required assets
MAP issues doesnt bother asset value anymore -
Regarding calculation of Amount against Asset No.
Hi,
I am having an issue in the BEx output. Right now I am getting the amount for an asset against posting date.
Like:
Asset Date Amount
140000004 5/31/2005 6,060.00 INR
6/30/2005 40.00 INR
9/30/2005 -5,300.00 INR
Now I want the output to be cumulative value of amount(Upon which I have to apply the aging logic)
Asset Date Amount
140000004 5/31/2005 Rs 800 (6,060.00+40.00- 5,300.00)
The date can be omited from output, but the amount should be the cumilated value against that asset.
RegardsHide the real key figures and create a formula ( to cumulate)...what is the real issue here?

Best Practice for Acquisition of Utility Plant Assets from another utility
My company is located in the United States and will be taking on an initiative of purchasing the Utility Plant assets from another company. We are governed by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Accounting Standards. In the guidance for the accounting where one utility purchases the assets of another utility, it states that the purchasing company must account for the Utility Plant Assets in FERC Account 102 at a net book value until FERC approval is received on the sale of the other utility. Depreciation must be calculated based on the Gross Book Value and applied to this same FERC Account. What must happen in order to track the assets is that the asset's APC Value and the Depreciation Value must transfer from the utility selling the Plant Assets balance sheet to the utility purchasing the Plant Assets balance sheet respectively.
As an example:
Utility ABC is selling their plant assets to Utility XYZ. The NBV of the plant assets is $60,000,000. It is broken down to Debit $80,000,000 for the APC Value (in FERC account 101 on Utility ABC's balance sheet) and credit $20,000,000 associated to Depreciation Value (in FERC account 108 on Utility ABC's balance sheet). When the sale is pending FERC approval the NBV is accounted for on Utility XYZ's balance sheet in FERC account 102. This amount will be processed to the selling Utility on a PO for the purchase.
I have configured the Fixed Asset module of SAP to account for the APC Value and the Depreciation Value in separate sub accounts of FERC account 102, that are se-up as reconciliation accounts on the G/L, in the account assignment of the respective asset classes. we track our assets based on asset class that pertain to the FERC Primary Plant Accounts.
I am trying to load the assets to the Fixed Asset module having the APC Value and the Depreciation Value reported respectively. If the NBV amount is processed on the PO, what would be the best practice to load the APC Value and Depreciation Value to the respective assets?
My first thought would be to process the PO for the NBV of the assets against a generic FERC Account 102, that is not set-up as a reconciliation account. I would then process an asset transaction using t-code ABSO with transaction type 158 and use the generic FERC account 102 as the Offsetting Account in the entry and using Document Type AA.
I would like to follow best practice in this scenario.
You help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Edited by: Wayne Rochon on Mar 31, 2011 9:19 PMThank you very much for your response.
I hope I can provide some clarity on how the accounting needs to be handle per FERC Regulations. The G/L balance on the utility that is selling the assets will be in the following accounts (standard accounts across all FERC Regulated Utilities):
101 - Acquisition Value for the assets
108 - Accumulated Depreciation Value for the assets
For an example, there is Debit $60,000,000 in FERC Account 101 and a credit $30,000,000 in FERC Account 108. When the purchase occurs, the net book value for the asset will be on our G/L in FERC Account 102. Once we have FERC Approval to acquire the plant assets, we will need to enter the Acquisition Value and associated Accumulated Depreciation onto our G/L to FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 respectively with an offset to FERC Account 102.
The method that I came up with is to purchase the NBV of the assets to a clearing account. I then set up account assignments that will track the Acquisition Value and respective Accumulated Depreciation for each asset that is being purchased. I load the respective asset values using t-code AS91 and then make an entry to the 2 respective accounts with the offset against the clearing account using t-code OASV. Once my company receives FERC approval, I will transfer the asset to new assets that has the account assignments for FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 using t-code ABUMN or FB01. -
After deactivation asset still shows value in AR03 cumulative value
Dear All
After deactivation of an asset , it still shows value in AR03 cumulative acq value column. can somebody guide us
where my client is lacking as we deactivated the asset on 14.05.2008 in AS02 and transfer the asset value thrru ABUMN
but still the same asset is showing the value on 31.03.2009 .
Thanks in advance
VGDear Srinu
Does Deactivation really need manually entry of writing date in AS02 or date generates automatically thru ABUMN.
As i have already transfered value thru ABUMN and created one new asset against it.
The new asset is working properly but my deactivated my asset is quite trouble some. If I tick the box in Depreciation area
which is for deactivation, will all assets under that class will be deactivated ?
I just had same ABUMN procedure and my asset got deactivated.
I had one asset which is deactivated in 2008 mid, In 2008 AR03 shows 0 value but 2009 it shows its cumulative value.
In tag line my asset should not show the value after it's deactivation in AR03.
Please have some inputs on this.
Regards,
VG.

Scenario of multiple Asset from one AUC/WBS
Hello,
I am having a requirement, where I need to create multiple Asset from one WBS. I checked in the system and able to create more then 1 Asset for WBS.Also if I maintain the distrubution rules for those Asset then settle it accordingly to different Assets.
I just wanted to confirm, will it we the right way of handling this scenario? My main concern is this involves intervention of user for maintaing the settlement rule during final settlement.
Is there any other way to handle this scenario?
Thanks
SarangHello Virendra,
I am not using Investment Managemnt. What do you mean by IM profile?
I understand that I need to maintain the source of cost in Source structure. But even in that scenario the user has to go and maintain settlement rules and create multiple Asset against one WBS.
So how do I tackle it, if client requirement is such that they want to create only one AUC, but during final Asset creation they want to create multiple Assets from one AUC. They dont want to have WBS for each Asset.
Thanks

Assets instead of Raw material at Excise item tab
Hi,
While Poting GR for assets (and capturing&posting Excise inv.along with GR), system showing <b>raw material</b> type at excise item tab at detail data. How to get Assets instead of Raw material?
Regards,
SattujHI,
If you have ordered an Asset against a materaial master (with account assignment A), then check the material master type if it is Raw Material.
Check the Excise Entries, if there is entry for 50% hold of Excise credit, then system is posting the GRN against asset only.

Import Procurment, Capital Procurement
Hello All,
Please tell Import Procurement, Capital Procurement process and how to implement in sap.
I am new for the import procurement.
Thanks In advance.Hi,
I will suggest you to create a material type as ZCAP and create a material master , which will help you to track the details, create a Asset Master thru AS01, in asset master you can define the material code as reference. create PO with account assignment as "A" and in J1ID master, material & chapter id combination, type as A i.e. Asset against that material code, so that system will take 50% Capital goods credit. in MB51 you can track the movement of that material code.
Hope this will help you.
Regards,

Hi Guru's,
Can you pls explain the AuC process ?
Regards
SFHi,
AuC (Asset Under Construction) are those assets which are not fully completed and in progress. Usually by nature they should take more than one fiscal year to get completed else one can easily create fixed asset when they are done in that fiscal year. There are many logics for the working of them but for understanding the complete cycle I will take approach on internal order with investment types.
Cycle:
Create internal order of investment type --> AuC will be created for it --> execute periodic settlement indicating transferring of values from order to AuC --> Once AuC is completed make the order as technically completed (TECO) --> Create fixed asset as a result of completion of AuC --> Provide the fixed asset under settlement rule --> execute full settlement transferring values to fixed asset --> Your AuC is completed as fixed asset which will now subjected to normal asset cycle. Below are details:
1) When you create internal order of investment type (KO01) that means you have an order to fulfill for investment. (you can additionally create budget for it - KO22 & KO24). During its creation AuC is created indicating where the investment is done. However the AuC asset number is still not reflected.
2) Do periodic settlement KO88 post which you will be able to see the AuC under the Settlement Rule button in KO02.
3) Till the time asset is not completed the allocation of budget in the internal order is done against the AuC. Once the asset is completed you need to transfer the balance against fixed asset(s) and capitalize them. You can transfer the balance against more than one asset. For example you have created internal order for creation of a building. When building is completed you can distribute the value to building and its furnishing on percentage basis. This can be achieved by making the order as technically completed (TECO) and then in the Settlement Rule button enter the details of the fixed asset(s) (and percentage allocation against them) against the AuC created. Category entered will be FXA. NOTE: create the fixed asset against which you wish to transfer the allocation.
4) Do the full settlement by executing KO88 and the fixed asset will be capitalized with Internal order value.
Hope this helps
