Asset and sub number

Dear all ,
i have 1000 chairs , i dont want to create 1000 asset as main asset.
Can i have one main asset as CHAIR and 1000 chairs as sub asset ?
how to create the same.
and also what is super asset?

Hello,
The Tcode for creating subasset is AS11.
What is the reason for creating 1000 sub asset unless you want to track each chair location.
Super Asset is used for information/reporting purpose. For Example a Desktop computer will consist of CPU, Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard etc. Each item is a seperate asset but they are tagged together through Super Asset Number.
Thanks

  • Creation of Asset with Sub-number

    Hi Gurus,
Would like to ask for your expert advice regarding the creation of Asset using Sub-numbers.
We have seversal assets where expenses and depreciation will be divided into different cost centers. We are planning to use asset subnumber for easier monitoring of related assets but we are a little bit undecided because we do not know if there are any disadvantages of using asset sub numbers.
Is it advisable to use asset sub-number? What are the things that we need to consider if in case we will use asset subnumber in creating our assets.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Madhu,
I tried to create an asset in AS01 and afterwards create subnumbers ( Subnumbers 1-3 ) for that asset in AS11. But it seems that I cannot edit the field of the assets with subnumbers. It copies the same data as that of the one created in AS01  ( subnumber 0 ).
I also tried to run depreciation in AFAB but only the main asset was depreciated. The sub assets were not depreciated.
Kindly advise the steps to correctly execute this.
    Thanks,

  • Asset and sub asset simoultaneous retirement

can i config the system such a way that for specific assets...if i retire the main asset the sub assets are retired automatically....

    Hi,
I don't think, this is possible.
The purpose of subnumber is to control subsequent acquisition to the main asset and/or represent complex fixed assets with their component parts.
You can retire all the subnumbers with multiple option in ABAON but I don't think you can default retirement of all subnumbers when you retire main asset.

  • Memo Value for Main Asset and Sub Asset

    Dear Experts,
I am having the requirement that, all the main asset should have the memo value Rs 1.
For this I have specified the memo value in OAYI. But system is taking the memo value for Main asset as well as Sub asset.
But we don't want to keep the memo value for sub asset.
I hope, I am missing some settings. Could anyone please help me to solve this.
    Regards,
    Aswin

    Hi:
You need to review your copy settings for sub assets for your relevant class's screen layout in  SPRO...Financial Accounting,,,,Asset Accounting....Master data....Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data....Select the screen layout which has been assigned to your asset class in OAOA. You will not find any field for value copied. So it is not possible to avoid this happening becuase it is done a t CO code level.

    1.ASSET CLASSES
First you create three asset classes for:
    ex:
       ASSET CLASS                              NUMBER RANGE
    1.Plant & machinery                               100-200
2.Plant& Machinery for  Group Assets-     500-600
    3.Plant & Machinery AUC                       1000-1100
    2.CREATE ASSETS
    First you create  AUCEX; 1000
    THEN POST THE TRANSACTIONS
3.If you want settele thisauc to fixed asset.
    a. first you create group asset ex:  500
    b. then create Fixed asset  ex: 100
at the time of creation of Fixed asset , you have to mention in tehasset masster what is the Group asset no:
for ex;  with in 100 you have to mention 500.
Then settele the AUC TO fIXED ASSET.
From here what ever transactions youare osted to Fixed aseet it will update in Group asset also.

  • Automatic creation of asset sub number in order

    Hi  Guruz,
i have an urgent issue regarding asset topic  and sub number.
my issue is my client purchased 100 computer sets. Each computer set  has an unique asset number. now we are using multiple account assignment concept. Earlier my client use to purchase 100 computers by including 100 line items in the purchase order in item overview  each having an asset number(that belongs to a particular asset class which is in turn assigned to one G/L account). So we can see that it is a very lengthy job. Instead my client wants that they should enter only one line item containing the asset number in the item overview of the PO.
At present we are using multiple account assignment as we are creating the asset sub number under one main asset.
With this we are able to prevent entering 100 line items in the item overview but we are entering the 100 sub number data in item details of the PO.
    item overview look out:
Ex: asset no: 100268           quantity -100       price- 20000
    item detail look out:
    quantity           asset         sub number
    1                       100268          1
    1                      100268            2.....
    similarly upto 100......
THis is done in account assignment tab of PO.
    REQUIREMENT:
when i am giving asset number 100268  sysytem should automatically give/propose 100 sub number as we have defined 100 sub number in as11 for that asset number. I.e: when we are putting asset number 100268 in the item overview it should reflect 100 quantities in item detail.
    is it possible???
    pl discuss...
in the sub item field the asset number 100268 will automatically divide into 100 sub numbers automatically.

    Hi,
This is unfortunately not possible with standards but you may try using Badi ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST => PROCESS_ACCOUNT.

  • Scrap Asset and its sub assets in one transaction code

Please suggest if it is possible to scrap an asset and all its sub assets in one transaction as opposed to scrapping them separately in ABAVN.
    regards
    Rekha

Click on the button Multiple assets and fill in there the main asset and sub numbers. You have to fill them all in. There is no transaction that you can do this with filling in only the main-asset number

  • Calculation of Depreciation on Sub Number.

    Hi,
Pl. provide your valuable remarks for the below 2 points.
    1. What is sub number? In which cases we should use this.
    2. In cases of heavy repairs & maintenance of assets, when amount will be capitalized, whether it will be treated as a separate asset or sub number.
As I have tried, the Sub-Asset calculate depreciation from the date of capitalisation of Main Asset rather than calculating the depreciation from the date when it is actualy capitalised because thereis no option to change the any field in Depreciation Area when creating Asset Sub-No. vide T-Code AS11.
    Thanks
    Deb

    Hi,
    Go to below path
SPRO->IMG->FA->AA->MASTER DATA->SCREEN LAYOUT->Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data
Choose Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data
Select your screen layout rule, which is assigned to your asset's asset class.
Double click on ligical field groups, and then select 2 Posting information and double click on field group rules
There for field group 10. capitalisation date deselect check box for mn no and select check boxes for SbNo and Copy.
    SAVE
And now go to transaction AO21 and select screen layout 1000 and double click on field group rules and there for FG 03 (ord dep start date)  deselect check box for mn no and select check boxes for SbNo and Copy.
    This will resolve your issue.

  • Synchronisation between asset and equipment

Hi, team ,please guide me how can i genera te same no for equipment when asset is synchronised with equipment. Because asset class is linked with equipment category not with object type. Thanx in advance.

    Hi,
According to the business prospective only few asset class's assets were treated as equipment assets.
In this scenario you must need to do the followign settings
spro->img->FA->aa->master data->automatic creation of master records->Specify conditions for syncronisation of master data---
here choose specific asset classes, those you are treating as equipment asset class, double click on it.
There choose Direct syncronisation of after saving from the drop down to all the 4, like AS01, AS02, IE01, and IE02.
    SAVE
Now go to OIEN and create the number range seriesfor equipment, which is used for your asset class number series.
then every time if you create the asset in that asset class, same equipment number generated by the system automatically.
Note: please make sure that the number range object, whch you are using in your equipment asset classes, cannot be used for any other normal asset classses.
If you are maintaining for other normal asset classes also, then if you create an asset in that normal asset class, there will not be any equipment no generation , but number series is used in AA, but not in PM.
After that if you create an asset in quipment asset class, then the system gives the next number for asset and previous number for equipment.
    Hope this might help you.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • Synchronization of Asset master records and Equipment Number

    Dear friends,
We are facing problem with the Equipment number that automatically gets generated during the Asset creation.
We used Internal number range for Equipments which is similar to Asset numbers and whenever an Asset created automatically Equipment get created with same number as the number ranges we maintained are same.
Recently we implemented Sub-Asset process and After implementing Sub-asset concept in to our Asset accounting the synchronization is not happening.
Can some one tell how I can come over this issue.
Ex:      Asset 12045          Equipment Number  12045
         Asset 12046          Equipment Number  12046
         Asset 12045-1          Equipment Number  12047
    How can I address this?
Should I go for External number range ? if Yes, then how can I do after so many Equipments got created with Internal number range.
    Thanks,
    KK

    Hi KK
There is no sub number range in equipment as we have for assets.  So you will not match the number range beween assets and equipments records whenever you go for sub assets.
We have this scenario and we are not matching the asset number to equipment records.
If you still want to have the same numbers, then you can go for external number range as proposed by you.

  • Asset Sub Number Conversion

    Hi Expert,
I have a question here and hope experts can give some Light.
We have asset main number with asset number sub number in the legacy system. When we migrate to SAP, I'll also need to create the Asset Main Number (AS91) and following with Asset Sub Number for it (AS94).
The problem is, how could I actually link the asset sub number with the relevant main number for data conversion as the main asset must always be created first before I can load asset sub-number.
What is the best approach to use?
    Please help. Thanks.

    Hello Louis Yale
You first create the main Asset number with T-code AS91
Once that is done you then create Asset sub number with reference to main Asset number . T-code AS94.
When you start creating Asset sub number on the main screen you will need to input main asset number and company code. This links your asset sub number to main asset number.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Asset Sub Number with Letter

    Dear Expert
Is it possible to define asset sub number using letter? e.g 1000000001 A001
    Thanks and Regards,
    YL

    Hi YL,
The sub number field is four numeric character field. Hence you cannot use alphabets.
However in Tcode OAOA (Asset class), if you tick the checkbox "EXTERNAL SUB NUMBER", you can use your own sub number for the asset.
Please let me know if it helps.

  • How to Use Same Asset Number with Different Sub-number

    Hi
We want to sell some assets and buy them back on lease. We want to use same Asset number with different sub-number under the same company code. This new asset will be under different Depreciation Area (Statistical).
We use external numbes for assets . And same asset number range is used by all compnay codes.
Please suggest whether this is possible & how.
    With Regards,
    Nitin

    Hi,
Go to field status for asset master data section and change the field status to optional for field Deactivation date, then follow the below steps.
You can create an sub asset number to an asset, which is already deactivated by retirement as like normal sub asset creation with AS11.(While creating sub number, you need to remove cap date and deactivate dcate field manually from asset master)
With this you can get new asset number as same as your old retired asset main number and but sub number will be different.
To post to diff dep area, other than 01, then you first create an acq transaction type, which will post only to specific areas and then use the new asset number in ABSO to post acq with your custom TTY.
I have tested and found working well in my system............Try now in your test client
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • Useful Life for Assets and Asset Sub Numbers

I am just learning about SAP Asset Accounting, for an implementation project, and I have a question about the Useful life of an Asset Sub Number when setting up Assets with Asset Sub numbers.
Does the useful life of the Asset Sub number have to be the same as the useful life of the Asset Main number?
I would like to know if I can set up an Asset, such as a building, with the asset main number, that has a useful life of say 40 years, then create asset sub numbers for things like the HVAC system that has a useful life of say 15 years.
I am not sure if it would be better to use a group asset for this situation or not.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me with this!
    Amy Hay

    Amy,
"Does the useful life of the Asset Sub number have to be the same as the useful life of the Asset Main number?"
No.  A sub number can have completely different attributes from it's main asset (cost center, order, keys, UL...).
The situation you're describing is possible and from a design perspective it <i>can</i> be a good idea.  Yes, you can create a main asset "Building" with a 40 year UL, but then have sub-assets for other major components (HVAC, Elevator, Security).  This is one of the two types of design techniques for sub assets (a component based design).  The other is based on the year of capital improvements.  For instance, you could create a subasset "2007" and settle all projects related to capital improvements to that subasset.  That way you would get visibility into capital acquisitions in FIAA reporting without having to goto CO or PS.
I would definitely <b>not</b> recommend using group assets.  Group assets are used for composite depreciation scenarios and do more than just "group" similar records together.
