Asset budgeting through Statistical WBS

Dear Experts,
I have configured and assigned Statistical WBS to Asset to carry out active budgeting. To my knowledge I have configured all relevant configuration but when I create PR over this Asset, WBS field is not updated in the PR and therefore no commitment / budget check is performed.
However, in this same scenario I created internal order and assigned it to WBS. Here then I assigned the Internal Order to the Asset. Budget check in this case runs fine.
As you may see from figure above B-OA01-001-001 is assigned to an Internal Order where it correctly carry out commitment / budget check when I create PR against Asset with Internal Order as Investment Account Assignment. Also it displays Internal Order number along with Asset number in PR account assignment tab.
But when I assign WBS directly to an Asset in origin tab of Asset Master no budget check is carried out while creating PR. Also WBS field is also not updated in PR account assignment tab with Asset.
Note: Budget in both cases is assigned to WBS element.

Saif

Salaam Saif!!
You need to do settings in T code ACSET... You must assign WBS Element in ACSET against APC postings
Refer below
Incase you dont find these in dropdown list in ACSET, activate them in ORFA > Integration with the General Ledger> Additional Account Assignment Objects > Activate Account Assignment Objects

  • We want to post actual cost through statistical WBS elements.

when we do the posting on Costcenter assigned to a Statistical WBS element (2nd level), I was in the opinion that, the actual cost posted on the Costcenter of statistical WBS (2nd level) will reflect to the top WBS element (which is non-statistical in 1st level).
But, I cannot able to see the actual cost in the 1st level WBS which also a Billing element (with this, finally we want to  do the Resource Related Billing).
So expalin me how to bring actual cost posted on the costcenter of a Statistical WBS, to top WBS element which is non-statistical.

U can book the actual cost from Procurement Cycle or by direct Invoice posting using FI transaction.
    Procurement Cycle:
When you create PR or PO user Account Assignment Q or P and maintain WBS element. When u do GR or service entry actual cost is captured on the Project (WBS element).
    Using FI Transaction:
When there is no PO and to book the cost u can use  F-43  to post actual cost (via Invoice) and mention WBS element.
U can check the Actual Cost using Line item report CJI3 or S_ALR_87013532.

  • Statistical WBS elements-Budgeting and Use

    Hi Guys,
Need some KT from you all regarding Statistical WBS Elements. My queries are
1.Can a statistical WBS element be budgeted? If yes how are the Budget  distributed to those below.
2..If a level 2 WBS is marked statistical and it has 3 WBS under it which are Acc asignment element then how is the budget distributed.
3.can you provide some good example of the use of Statistical WBS element?
    Thanks in Advance
    ssk

    Hi Shourya,
    1. As mentioned above Statistical WBS can be budgeted like any operative project and the budget can further be divided into lower level WBS elements and Availaility Control can be activated on these.
    2. Again as stated above the budget distribution is normal. For ex- If a level 2 WBS is statistical and level 2's underneath that are real WBS.
    3. We can use the Statistical WBS for capital projects. For ex- We can assign a Statistical WBS in Master record of AUC for Availability control of budget for Capital spending. And then when we create a PO with Account Assignment category A with same AUC, budget control (Availability control) is activated through the statistical WBS.
Someone might ask but why we want to use WBS for budget control why not I/O? It's because it provides more visibility over different departments (divided by structure). And via this process we can see all our PO's on AUC directly from Asset Explorer (AW01N).
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,
    BS

  • ACTUAL COSTS:REPORT WITH STATISTICAL WBS AND ASSETS ASSIGNED TO THEM

    Hi all,
I would like to run a report that gave me this info:
    WBS Element (all statistical)
        Assets assigned to each WBS
              Actual costs
It would be perfect CJI3 but it doesn't show assets. In AM I haven't see either any report that shows WBS elements...
    any ideas???

An statistical WBS element is an SAP object . Statistical means that you need another object to post the cost or income, let's say,an asset.
Actual costs are the real postings you have in an object, coming from MM, SD, GL ... (just the contrary as budget or planned values).

You are right: it doesn't exist.
You have to create a custom one, of work with Excel with the aim of merge tha data from FI-AA, PS, and MM.

    Hi
There is not a standard report which can cater to your requirements. You need to develop one.
You can take the refernece from CNS41 report for development. Some of the fields you need are PRPS-XSTAT for statistical WBS and will have to use tables ANLA and ANLC to fetch asset master data.

  • PM Budget - Statistical WBS element

    Hello,
My intention is monitoring the PM budget for a plant by linking every PM order to a statistical WBS element.
After posting on the PM order and performing costplanning via CJ40 i get a overview in transaction: S_ALR_87013543 - Actual/Plan/Variance Absolute/Variance %.
However. Not every PM order shows up in the report. I thought it had something to do with the moment you assign the WBS element to the PM order but this didn't prove to be a valid statement (before or after actual postings on PM order).
I can probably find out by extensive testing, but i was wondering if anybody knows if there are specific rules regaring the usage of statistical WBS elements in PM orders? More specificaly, when the assignment will NOT work and the actual costs will not show up in S_ALR_87013543.
    Kind regards,
    Peter Hageman

Settling was done towards a Costcenter. The WBS element used is a statistical WBS element, that only can be used for reporting purpose. how the settlement rule is set up doesn't matter in this case.
    Issue no longer exists.
Solution was evident. WBS element in the order was stored on the location tab, and in order to use CJI3, you have to link it on the additional data tab...

Thanks for your reply but this is not the question.
    The question is:
    Example:
I have 100 WBS Elements. Each of them has an average of 5 assets assigned. (what makes 500 assets)
I post lot of invoices in each asset.
I would like a report that tells me at once the total actual amount posted in each ASSET and group those costs by each WBS element.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Statistical wbs and assets

I am aware that statistical wbs do not settle.  However, someone told me that it is possible for a statistical wbs to direct post to an asset.  I believe they said the asset number was part of the wbs number.  But I don't remember all of the specifics.  Is anyone familiar with this?

  • Availability control on statistical WBS element

    Hi everybody,
The issue deals with <i><b>availability control on statistical WBS element</b></i>.
    <u>Part 1</u> : I released 25000 as budget (CJ32) for a <b>statistical WBS element</b>.
Availability control is active for this WBS element.
We made a good receipt (MIGO) for 20000 on an AUC (asset under
construction) - so we get the value as statistical value on the WBS
element -, then invoice verification (MIRO) and finally the asset
transfer (ABUMN) from asset under construction to fixed asset.
On this statistical WBS element we get +20000 (MIRO) and -20000 (ABUMN).
The problem is that the amount that is used for the availability check
is 0, instead of 20000 as you can check !!!
We set a budget on the statistical WBS element in order to have the
availability check ... and this is not working as the system in the described case shows 25000 as available but for me we should have only 5000 (= 25000 - 20000).
<u>Part 2</u> : This is working perfectly (I get the expected value for available) when we use a <b>"real" WBS element</b>, put an expense on it, then run the period end closing tranction CJ88 in order to transfer the cost on an AUC, and finally run CJ88 again in order to transfer from AUC to fixed asset.
Did anybody already encountered this problem with statistical WBS element ? How did you solve this (we would like to keep our statistical WBS element) ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Benjamin

    Hi Benjamin,
Pl go through the link below :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/3e/a98337dd34ca76e10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
I have not faced this but as far as I remeber for AUC Statistical assignments have some limitations.
Any specicfic reason for keeping the WBS Statistical? Are you able to see "0" zero on this WBS in CN41.

  • Statistical WBS

    Hi,
When im procuring asset by using a Statistical WBS in PO ,whether  commitment will generate.
    Regards

Yes, system automatically will create statistical commitment on the project when you create purchase orders for asset.

  • No Error when Statistical WBS is closed

    Hi,
I had created Statistical WBS elements and assigned this to Maintenance orders, System allows me to close the WBS element even when the Orders are open and also allows me to assign & issue materials without checking the budget ( as the WBS is already closed).
How system allows closure of WBS when this WBS element is assigned to some orders which are still open ? Is there any user exit available to prevent this ?
    thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Vinodh

    Hi Vindoh,
The reason being your WBS is statistical. Statistical WBS are only meant for statistical postings. You cannot settle them or carry overhead. Just try to maintain settlement rule on statistical WBS and you will get the following message
Statistical WBS element: No surcharges, settlement etc. N-000298
         Message no. CJ714
    Diagnosis
A statistical WBS element cannot be settled, nor carry overheads, nor
can results analysis be carried out for it. Therefore it does not mak
sense to maintain control parameters for these functions for statisti
         WBS elements.
    System Response
If you have identified the WBS element as statistical, these control
parameters will not be displayed in the work breakdown structure.
The real cost objects are Cctr or Orders. They are only meant for reporing or exercising budgetory controls mainly during Asset procurement.
    Thanks
    Sarang

  • Settlement to cost center posted for statistical WBS element

    We have the following scenario
Statistical WBS elements with assigned Cost center posted for actual postings
Network assigned to statistical WBSE and settlement rule on the same WBSE
On settlement run CJ88  the network costs are transferred from network to Cost Center posted in the WBSE.
    Issue:
While analysing the active availability control the assigned value is doubled. This happens only of the networks are settled. System considers the Actual values from network + Statistical value from WBSE to caculate the assigned values.
    Simulation details as under.
    SP-SET-02-3  (wbs element)
        COSS 2011 11 0007101000     0001240704 KOAO D INR                 100.00  INR
        NWA 500000002408 0010
            COSS 2011 04 0007101000     0001240704 KOAO O INR                 100.00- INR   S  -- does not contribute to assigned value
            COSP 2011 04 0007101000     0001240704 COIN D INR                 100.00  INR
            COSP 2011 01 0007101000     0001240704 KPPP D INR                 100.00  INR   M   -- does not contribute to assigned value
Hence the assigned value gets doubled and eating up the budget.
Anyone encountered similar issues pls share the possible solutions.

  • No costs visible statistical WBS element

    Hi,
The followin steps are the setup:
    - Project with a statistical WBS element and a network below
    - Create a PO with Account category "Fixed Asset"
    - Fill in a fixed asset, but also a (statistical) WBS element (put fields 'project' and 'network' optional in customizing)
    - execute a MIGO to book costs
Now when I run the cost report for this project using transaction CJI3 then I do NOT get the costs visible on this statistical WBS element.
HOWEVER when I do the same steps, but instead of putting a statistical WBS element I put the network (next to the fixed asset) then I do get the costs visible.
Is this normal or do I have to change something in order to get the costs visible for my statistical WBS element?
    kindest regards

    Is this necessary?
Because in the end I want to book these costs as actual costs on my fixed asset...
