How long should it take to burn a 27 minute movie. It states that it is encoding video with 1 minute left. Has been that way for 9 hours now.Any suggestions?

Encoding time depends on several things (mosty common are)
• Free Space on Start-Up (Mac OS) get's low eg less than 5Gb - and encoding time get's stupidly long
I never go under 25Gb free spae
• What You feed iDVD. Some Codecs/Fileformats just get's encoded stright of - but others needs to be converted first (re-coded) by iDVD first - can also take eons of time.
So Please tell where Your material came from and in what Codec/File format
• What Mac was Used to encode. My Mac G3 600MHz - took about 30 hours per hour movie. My dG5 2GHz was close to 1:1 - My new MacBook Pro 2.2GHz i7 - Have not tried yet - May be even faster ?

1500Kbs is 1.5Mbs. That is Kilo bits per second. There are 8 bits to a byte so if you divide 1500 (or 1,500,000) by 8 you get 187500 bytes a second. Divide 3.5GBs (3,500,000,000), that capitol B is for Bytes, by that 187500 you get 18666.666 seconds. Which needs to be divided by 60 to get the minutes and then again by 60 to get the hours.

I use to have a 3Mbs DSL connection and it took me over 3 hours to download Lion. Now that I have a 19Mbs Cable connection it take about an hour to download and install.
So wait it will happen eventually. If you cancel and start again your are still going to wait 5+ hours.

After installing Yosemite my Imac just goes to a white screen and freezes, it has been there for almost 36 hours any ideas as to why it is taking so long?

I have downloaded Yosemite from the App store and I attempted to upgrade from OS X 10.9.5. It is stuck on a white screen with a moveable mouse pointer but that is it. I can't get Command + L to work, so I can see any progress that is being made and I have tried to force boot it twice. Each time I force boot the machine I get a progress bar that goes about half way across and then just a blank white screen. I have read on some blogs that patience is the best procedure for this freeze but I have been waiting for almost 36 hours now and nothing is happening. One thing I want to mention is I have VMWare installed with a virtual machine of 300gigs, could this be the cause of the hangup? My 27inch IMAC is about 3 or 4 years old with a terabyte hard drive and 32gigs of ram. I have unplugged everything from the back except the network cable. Is about 36 hours reasonable for an upgrade? Is there a way to cut my losses and revert back to OS X 10.9.5?

When you start your notebook press F8 to enter Advanced boot options.
Is Repair my computer option available?
If yes choose it and press ENTER. Follow the menu on the screen and when you will see System recovery options try to use System Restore option.
Do you have some important data saved on your notebook?
If not install OS again using HDD recovery option and after 2 hours you will have clean preinstalled OS and everything will be OK again.

Hopefully it's been resolved by now - I have no idea how large each one of those files are. The progress bar tells you; FWIW, I only download one at a time - makes it easier and faster and you can choose to do the next one when you have time.

Yesterday we were forced to perform a non-authoritative sync of the SYSVOL folder as replication had stopped because one of the DCs had been disconnected from it's replication partner for more than 60 days (caused by a unexpected shutdown and we did not
pick up on the fact replication had stopped until now).
I performed the non-authoritative sync of the SYSVOL folder and now the folder is in state 2
ReplicatedFolderName ReplicationGroupName State
SYSVOL Share Domain System Volume 2
and has been for more than 12 hours. The DFS replication health report, reports "This member is waiting for initial replication for replicated folder SYSVOL Share".
How long should it take and is there anyway to force it so that replication can resume?

Eveything is passing, except for the bits about the SystemLog and DFRS, all seems good to me.

I just bought an iphone 5. I came home to backup my iphone 4 to my pc (Windows 7). I transferred purchases, then selected "automatically Backup", then clicked on "This Computer", saying a full backup would be stored on this computer. that was almost 3 hours ago. the slanted lines are continually moving across the to and the circle with arrows is still revolving on my phone and beside my device name on the side toolbar. Is it stuck or does it really take this long? My 16GB phone is almost full, so there's not a lot of empty space available. I want to stop it but I'm scared I'll lost the info on my phone. iPad, iPod not syncing on Mavericks…. I-Tunes freezing on connection of same to the usb port! The following fixed these issues on my MacBook Pro running 10.9.3. I do have Xcode on my laptop, but have never used it…. I’m not a programmer or hacker, just a cheesed of Apple fan. I tried many of the already suggested possible fixes and nothing helped. Got fed up using the disk repair utility and getting no further on.
I opened System Preferences, Security & Privacy/Privacy. In Accessibility, after having scanned all my files many times, I added the following apps, some of them may be developer tools from Xcode, and gave them all control….. then did a computer restart.

Disk Utility has been partitioning for about 3 hours now.

Ok so I wanted to partition my internal hard drive for time machine. So I went into Applications and opened up Disk Utility. I then Selected my internal hard drive, adjusted the partitions to the desired sizes and clicked apply. All the options grayed out and the little striped progress bar began moving. This was about 3-4 hours ago and nothing has changed. Someone help please, I'm afraid to force quit it or turn off my mac at the cost of my hard drive.

It's not really a progress bar just an animated blue and white "candy cane-like" bar
If that is the case, that is not a progress indicator, so it hasn't yet started to partition and is stalled. Just stop, there will be no damage.
The question now is why has this happened, and what can you change so that it doesn't happen on your next attempt, but goes to immediate partition, which should not take longer than 30 seconds or so.

Everytime I go on itunes with my internet motem connected it shuts down my computer. It works fine if I have the internet off and no ipod plugged in, but as soon as i put my ipod in or use itunes with internet it shuts down and restarts my computer. I went to www.apple.com to see if i could just update the itunes and see if that works, but everytime i click on download itunes 9.2 it asks me to install it. Does this mean my old itunes with all my music will be erased??? please please help me. thanks

You've got a problem with the drivers for your ATI Radeon video card. It's a bit odd to see that associated with being connected to the internet, but I've seen it cause blue screen crashes when an iPod is plugged in before.
Did the video card come installed in the PC when you bought it? If so, head to the Sony website and check to see if they have any updated video drivers for your particular model of Vaio (and particular model of video card).
If you've added the video card yourself to the Vaio, head to AMD and check to see if there's updated drivers there for your model of video card.
If you're already up to date on the drivers, or updating the drivers doesn't help with the crash, try reinstalling the video drivers.

even by trying the hold down the -sleep/home button all it does is go back to the white screen instead of the apple logo popping up. >:( i dont want to restore and have all my data taken off. including family photos, 500+ downloads of music, important messages and such

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
I think you will have to restore.

The download of the new fiefox version has been going four almost 24 hours why so long

The first time I attempted to download new 6 version I let it run for 12 hours. A blue and white streams and it says that it is downloading and also connecting to server. I stopped the the download because it has never taken this long to update. I decided to try again but it is still running. Should this be happening?

Try resetting it while it is connected to power: Hold down the home and sleep button, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons. It is connected to a wall charger?
