Asset Encoding...i can eject the disc, while this happens.
Hello, while on step 3: asset encoding, or probably any other step, i have found out that if i hit the eject key on my keyboard, the dvd ejects however the idvd application stills runs normally as if nothing happened. Is this okay if I put the disc back in? I'd like to know so i dont have to wait around another 5 hours for this to keep is sitting in stage 3. Thanks.
I'm speaking from experience.
You're using a wireless Magic Mouse right? Yeah, thought so.
I first noticed the problem on Lion (10.7.5) but that was also the time my Mighty Mouse or whatever that thing was called crapped out and I upgraded to the Magic Mouse. I always thought the problem was with the OS. My system is not supported by Mountain Lion (late 2006 model, the white one) so I did a system reinstall and stil had the issue. Being stupid, I still attributed it to the OS but had my doubts about the mouse with all the silly swipes here and there and everywhere. Until today. I said enough of this garbage and switched off the mouse and plugged in a beat up wired Logitech. Going on 4 hours now and not one screen shake.
The "iMac screen shake". Not very well documented. But **** if that isn't one frustrating mofo. Seriously, how did I use this thing for many moons with the screen shaking every 3-5 minutes. ***?? And by the way, to stop the screen from shaking while it's doing it, madly swipe back and forth on the magic mouse shell to take control back. Man, I'm getting upset just thinking about this problem. And the waste of $70 for the mouse.
And for what it's worth, I bought an iMac (2010) for my folks and I've noticed the problem on their machine too. Yep, Magic Mouse.

How can I eject the disc and start over and get into the OSX system?
XP isn't supported in BootCamp, you'll have to use the free VirualBox or one of the other commercial virtual machine softwares to run it in a window on OS X. The performance isn't going to be good enough for 3D games or heavy CPU ones, but good enought for most general use software.
Apple doesn't supply the hybrid MBR and hardware drivers required to run XP in BootCamp any longer. If you were on Snow Leopard 10.6 it's still possible, but not Lion or Mountain Lion.
This is what you do to resolve your problem.
1: Hold the power button down to force a hardware shutdown (emergency use only use the Apple Menu > shutdown all other times)
2: Press and hold the option/alt key on the keyboard.
3: Boot the computer and enter Startup Manager
4: Keep pressing the eject key on the keyboard, the disk will eject.
5: Select OS X to boot from by clicking on the volume and the little arrow that appears.
6: Set Startup Disk in System Preferences to OS X.
7: Head to BootCamp Utility and use it to remove the BootCamp partition.
8: If you used Disk Utility, then use that to remove the second partition and absorb the remaining space back into the OS X partition.
9: Install VirtualBox, if on 10.8 you migh have to control/right click and "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper controls for the installer and/or program at least once.
10: Read the instructions how to setup and use VirtualBox. -

Some Kind of huge Noise coming from the Disc Drive while inserting and ejecting the disc.
Some Kind of huge Noise coming from the Disc Drive while inserting and ejecting the disc.
i have just purchased it before a couple of days a go.I just installed a Mac Pro for a client. After a while I noticed this buzzing everyones talking about. It was especially bad after I installed two more internal drives. It seemed to come and go with HD activity. I pulled up the lever on the back of the machine when it was particularly loud and the buzzing went away. So like some others have noticed it's associated with the HD bays. I took the side off and adjusted the seating of the drives so they were exactly centered Now the buzzing is gone. I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe it will need some kind of silicone bumpers where the bay trays are metal to metal.
More research to come.

Thank you. This has worked, but I don't know why as it isn't anything I didn't do the last time. What a difference a day makes.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to help.

I am trying to install a Portugese language disc. I clicked on the installer icon and it said it was installing, but it ran forever without doing anything. I clicked "stop installing" and it says "stopping", but it is doing nothing. I am unable to eject the disc or do anything because it says an operation is in progress.
Please provide some info on the disc, where it comes from, who made it, etc. Also tell us what version of OS X you are running.

I'm trying to upgrade from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard but my macbook keeps ejecting the disc. It started to install the first time and said it needed to restart to finish, restarted but ejected the disc. It ejects every time now. I've also installed the 10.5.8 combo update but that didn't help it. I've tried restarting the macbook with the disc in, holding c, all that. Why won't this work?!
Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again.

I inserted a burnt disc into my macbook pro and iTunes froze, had to shut down my mac in order to eject the disc. Is it not possible to transfer music from homemade cds onto my mac?
Yes, it is possible.
You had an issue in this individual instance. -
After Photoshop Elements quit working for the second time in three months, I uninstalled it and now cannot get it to reinstall from the disc. Nothing happens when I insert the disc. All I can do is look at the folders and files and see nothing that tells me how to start the installation. Clicking "open with Auto play" gives me irrelevant options, view photos, share, etc. I'm running Windows 8. This program has worked, although buggy, for the past year.
reinstall by clicking setup on your disk or downloading and installing,

i have inserted a disc in my remote disc and it is not working and even i am trying to eject the disc but it is not working ? what to do ?
Would you rather upgrade to windows 8, BlackBerry or Android phones? Do you honestly think those don't have problems?
You waited a lot and chose to buy an early production model. Mistakes happen all the time a factory retools and workers relearn new skills necessary to keep US happy.
Exercise your rights.... Send it back for a new one.
In any case, I feel your frustration. Btw, I love Apple but use a Blackberry -
My mac tells me that " The disc in this drive can't be erased"
What can i do to delete whatever I have in a dvd... format it or whatever..if my mac tells me The disc in this drive can’t be erased.
Unless the DVD is a rewritable DVD, identified as DVD+RW or DVD-RW, you can't delete what's on it.

Hi, I live in the UK and have an ipad2 with wifi (no 3G). I plan to visit Canada in the summer and want to know how i can access the internet while i'm away e.g. can i purchase a 3G attachment that will give me access on a pay as you go basis. Thanks.
You can get Mifi devices (the iPad connects to it via wifi and they then give access to 3G networks). I've never used one and I don't know if they are available in Canada (and if so how much they would cost). If you have an iPhone then you could also use that as a mobile hotspot

I've only just opened the box. Hoping to switch to mac from PC. Using the PC to send this appeal... switching cables all but the monitor) frequently to attempt my mini remedy.
I've tried all of the reboot, key strokes (PC keyboard) and tricks... I still cannot eject the disc.
I got as far as making a partition but failed to install MS XP Pro... I suspect the change in keyboards midstream caused the mini to lose the keyboard identification.Try holding down the mouse button right from the moment you turn the computer on, and keep holding it down until the disk comes out, even all the way up to the login screen (if it even gets you that far).

I tried burning a dvd and it said that it couldn't be verified and ejected the disc. Now the computer won't recognize any disc that I try to insert - it just ejects it. Any ideas?
If the machine is over 4 years old, have the PRAM battery replaced. If the machine is less than 4 years old, look at these possibilities*: http://www.macmaps.com/cdrfailure.html

My iPad mini iOS version is 6.0.2 which I can't upgrade to iOS 7. Message displayed during verifying upgrade is "Can't verify upgrade because you are no longer connected to the internet". This happens again and again though I am connected to the internet through wifi. What should I do?
Reset the iPad and try again. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Reset your router and try again. Unplug your router from power for about 30 seconds then plug it in again.
Try another WiFi Network. Go to a friend's house, a library, anywhere else that you can use a trusted WiFi network.
Try updating using iTunes on your computer.
