  • Can not set source file for Fireworks png in Dreamweaver

I recently purchased Adobe Design Premium CS5 to replace my CS3, but I have a big
problem.  When I export a png in Fireworks to Dreamweaver it does not set the source
file correctly.  It places the Fireworks object on the page, but when I select the table
that holds the Fireworks object, the path for the source on the Properties panel is
wrong - it says menu2.png.  The correct document relative path is dress_images/menu2/menu2.png.
When I drag the Point to File icon over the menu2.png on the Files panel, it correctly displays
the full path, but when I let go of it, it sets the path back to menu2.png.  I can not even type it
in the source box and get it to stay.
Here is the problem.  When I click on the Edit button, it says it can't find the png.  It is using
the full path from the C: drive instead of the document relative path.  If I browse to the png file
and open it in Dreamweaver then click the Done button, it saves the png file but does not change
any of the content on the HTML page.
Fireworks and Dreamweaver CS3 worked perfectly here.  Help!
I just tried to do this on another computer.  This time when I pasted the Fireworks HTML onto the
page in Dreamweaver it set the path correctly (it was a root relative path instead of a document
relative path).  I tried to edit in Fireworks using the Edit button, and it opened Fireworks without
any problem.  I made some changes then clicked the Done button.  Now the Done button is suppose
to be like magic.  It is suppose to save the changes to the png file, make the changes on the HTML
page in Dreamweaver, and change any of the supporting files (images) that have been edited.  It
always worked this way in CS3, and anything less than this would be a huge step backwards.  In this
case, it saved the changes to the png, but did not make any other changes.  The web page in
Dreamweaver is still the same.  How do I get the Done button to work its magic using CS5.
Another problem - when I paste the code onto the page, the page looks totally messed up.  If I save it
and reopen it then it looks fine.  However, this never occurred with CS3.  Aren't updates to software
    suppose to be improvements?
    Thanks.
    Nathan

Yes, the web site is correctly defined in Dreamweaver.  I teach web design for both high school and
adult school, and I have done this procedure 100's of times with CS3.  There is something different with
CS5.  I took your suggestion and imported the Fireworks HTML using Insert -> Image -> Fireworks HTML,
but it still does not work.  I can edit it in Fireworks, hit the Done button, and the png file is saved but
the HTML page remains the same.
Also, the export does not get the path right, and it will not let me set the path right.  The only way the path
is right is if the page that I am pasting the Fireworks HTML is in the same folder as the png.  It always
sets the png's path as menu.png.  Therefore, if the page is in a different folder, the document relative path
won't find it.  This was never a problem with CS3.  In fact, you could paste the code using Control-V and it
would work 100% of the time.  That is how we always did it.  When exporting from Fireworks, I would set
Export to "copy to clipboard" then move to Dreamweaver, click where I wanted the code pasted and do Control-V and presto it would
always work.  You could come back a month later, select the table, click the Edit button, make changes
in Fireworks, click the Done button and the changes would be reflected on the HTML page in Dreamweaver without
doing anything more.  I have tried it with "copy to clipboard" and I have tried it with "export HTML file".  Neither
works.  There is definitely something different between CS3 and CS5, and right now I am missing CS3.
Thanks for your help.  I will keep fighting this until I get it, but any additional input would be appreciated.

  • Styles panel missing in Dreamweaver cs6 (Was: Dreamweaver CS6)

I have just downloaded Dreamweaver & the CSS Styles panels is missing?

The Styles panel has been replaced with the CSS Designer panel. Layout mode has been gone for some years, as has drawing AP divs.
The Styles panel didn't offer good access to the legacy CSS attributes and properties, or to management of selectors or sources. CSS designer does all of these much better.
Layout mode was removed in favor of the separation of content from presentation approach that CSS provides. Drawing AP divs has never been a good solution for page layout because of the many problems encountered when using these positioned elements as containers for text content.
CS6 is quite a different beast than its predecessors. It has been built with a strong committment to both producing valid code and the use of good methods. Its productive use will require you to have a fair understanding of both HTML and CSS.

  • Need help purchasing Dreamweaver cs6 (was: Dreamweaver CS6)

I am needing help purchasing the dreamweaver cs6

    Hello,
here is the link to DW CC: http://www.adobe.com/downloads.html > Dreamweaver CC (or others) > use TRY. Or you can download elder (trial)versions from here and convert them (later) into "official" versions with your Adobe Account:
http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html see "Download Adobe CS6 Trials: Direct Links (no Assistant or Manager)". AND note the : "Very Important Instructions" mentioned there.

  • Download trial of Dreamweaver CS6 [was: Dreamweaver]

    Hi
I am unable to download a trial version of Dreamweaver CS6.  Please assist, as I would like to try this with a view to purchasing.  Adobe ID: [personal information removed by moderator].

Log into the Creative Cloud website with your Adobe ID, and go to the Dreamweaver page in the Download Center (https://creative.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver). Although it displays Dreamweaver CC, you can switch to Dreamweaver CS6 by selecting it from the "In this version" drop-down menu. When you select Dreamweaver CS6, the download button at the top-right of the page changes to "Download Dreamweaver CS6".

  • Can I edit my older HTML files in a later version of Dreamweaver? (Was: Dreamweaver)

I have an old version of Dreamweaver that runs on old powerpc macs.  Is there a way I can convert those file to the online version?  We use the old version for our school website, so we don't want to lose all that has been set up.  Or is there a pc version that will run those files?

The files that are created by using Dreamweaver are universal files, meaning that you will be able to edit those files in any editor. There are many web developers that use a combination of editors (e.g. Dreamweaver and SublimeText) to create the files.
So, to answer your question, you will be able to edit/create the files no matter which version of DW you use.

  • Minimum requirements for Dreamweaver CS5 (Was: Dreamweaver CS5)

How much RAM does Dreamweaver CS5 use?

The minimum requirements for DWCS5 are...
    512 MB of RAM
Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athelon 64
    1GB Hard Drive Space
XP (Service Pack 3), Vista (SP1) or Windows 7 (I'm pretty sure it runs on W8 too)

Just a question on the Adobe website and there are 3 updates for Dreamweaver 6. When you update do you have to do all in order first? 1, 2 3. ta

@SolaCrazyDog: Assuming you're referring to CS6 and not '6', why dont you let Adobe Application Manager handle the updates for you?
It is usually included as part of Creative Suite. If you cant find it installed on your computer, get it from here:

  • Query: Purchase Dreamweaver License (Was:Dreamweaver)

Can you tell me what the license gets me (i.e. can more than one person use it?) and how long is the license good for?

I think Mark is a little confused about the EULA.
A Perpetual License is good forever.  It is registered to one individual and may be installed on up to 2 machines at a time (desktop/laptop, or home/office computers). Available for Win or Mac. If you try to install Creative Suite software on a 3rd machine, your license will be deactivated from the other 2.

Creative Cloud is a annual subscription plan: $50/month for individuals or $70/month for teams of individuals.  The software can be downloaded & installed on up to 2 machines per user ID.  Available for Win, Mac or both.  When you stop paying for the Cloud, you can no longer access your Cloud software.

  • How to search a .csv file for data using its timestamp, then import to labview

Hi, I'm currently obtaining density, viscosity and temperature data from an instrument, adding a timestamp and writing it to a .csv file which I can view in Excel. This works fine (see attached code) but what I need to do now is to search that csv file for data which was obtained at a certain time, import the temperature, density & viscosity values at this time back into Labview to do some calculations with them, while the data acquisition process is still ongoing.
I've found various examples on how to import an entire csv file into labview, but none on how to extract data at a specific time. Also, whenever I try to do anything with the .csv file while my data acquistion VI is running, I receive error messages (presumably because I'm trying to write to and import data from the .csv file simultaneously). Is there some way around this, maybe using case structures?
If you need to know my skill level, I've been using Labview for a few weeks and prior to that have basically no experience of writing code, so any help would be great. Thanks!

Lemis VDC-30 read registers MODBUS v5.vi ‏56 KB

It sounds as if you are going about this a little backwards writing to a data file and then extracting from the file but its the weekend so I can't think of an improved way to do it at the moment.
Searching for a specific time with those specific values is quite easy, or if you wanted to select any time then you could interpolate the values to find any value that you want (This is where the contiguous measurement comes in, as you have readings at discrete times you will have to interpolate the values if you want to get the 'measured value' at a time point that is not exactly one of your measured points).
If you can extract the TDMS time column and the T, D & V then simply thresholding and interpolating each of your array/data sets should allow readings at your desired times.

  • Prep InDesign file for web

    PSCS5, Mac OS 10.6.4
I need to prepare a book cover created in InDesign for posting with online vendors (Angus &  Roberton, Austraila and Amazon for starters). My first attempt and prepping the InD file for the web was unsuccessful. No file specs are available from either vendor. Can you help?
The InD file is 8"x8", contains 2 PS images, 2 AI vector files, and text. The PS files are set at 350 dpi (per the print sevice bureau's specs). The book is destined for 4-color wet press. The first set of wet proofs look great, so I know I'm on track with color management, linked images, etc.
My first approach when I tried prepping it for the web was to export the InD file to a JPEG, open it in PS, and save it as a .psd file before making any changes. After converting the color back to RGB, I resized it to 3"x3" at 72 dpi, then saved it as a JPEG with a new name.  I think the resizing and resolutoion is where I went wrong. But I'm at a loss the correct steps to follow and what settings to use for the image size and resolution.
What is the procedure I should have followed to prep the cover to an image for the web? Here's the image exported as a JPEG at 150 dpi.
    Thanks in advance.
    Toni

    Toni....
I do print and web and often take an ID page to an image.
    What I do...
Export Indesign as PDF. (Use any standard PDF job option you have, even PDFX1a)
Drag PDF to Photoshop > Open as 300ppi and whatever dimensions are already present.
If necessary, crop and flatten the image in Photoshop. (PDFx1a will need cropped and flatening will compensate for any transparency in the PDF.)
Within Photoshop > File > Save For Web > Input image dimensions I need in the SFW dialog
    Hit Save.
What's been posted by others is correct. There is no PPI/DPI for the web. The only thing that matters is width and height. If you want you can test this to show yourself. Create 2 images - one at 100x100 pixels and 300ppi, the other at 100x100 pixels and 72ppi. Save both images for web and then open the saved images in a browser... they are the same size and look identical.
By Exporting to PDF from ID you get a crisp, clean PDF.
By dragging the PDF to PS you get a crisp, clean PS image. If you export a jpg from ID then save a jpg from PS you're creating artifacts due to the re-saving of a compressed format (jpg).
By Using Save For Web to create the final image all the superfluous image data is stripped and you get a basic, clean and crisp image at the size input in SFW.
There are other routes you can take, but for me this five step process yields the best results in every case.

In this log file I can see you are getting Error : U44M1P7 while updating the software
This Error comes where language packs for software are not installed properly on the machine.
I would suggest to update Adobe Application manager from
    Windows : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773
    MAC: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774
then try to install the update if still you are not able to update software and getting same error then uninstall all the Adobe software selecting remove prefernces.
After uninstalling the software run the Adobe Cleaner tool(http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and remove the leftovers.

  • Installation issues including AAM, Dreamweaver CS6 and Phtoshop CS6

    Hi Everyone,
This discussion is a continuation of a thread that was started in the 'Creative Cloud' discussion forum.  It's important to read this discussion first to get a background regarding the underlying issues first.
To continue, this new discussion will keep the issue in the open - I don't want it hidden away as I believe others may benefit from suggestions and issues along the way.
    Quick recap:
My UK organisation purchased 6 licences each of Photoshop CS6, Dreamweaver CS6 and Acrobat 10 via an Adobe License Certificate.
The license keys were given to me to download and install the software.
I downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/downloads but on installing was told that the key was invalid.
Contacted Adobe support several times and finally found that the software had to be downloaded from https://licensing.adobe.com.
Didn't have an account as these are held by my organisation's purchasing team.
Adobe added my details to my company's account eventually.
    Downloaded and installed the software.
At fisrt I used the software and, as with most software rushed through for a deadline, discovered various bugs (mainly in Dreamweaver it has to be said, as I haven't really had chance to use the other two products yet).  So...
Attempted the automatic update process.  This failed due to restrictions on our firewall.
Checked the Adobe site which said check the log files.  Checked the log files and found a warning (this is detailed in the other post metnioned above).
Chatted with Adobe support twice at this point to try and pinpoint the issues.  They suggested downloading the updated updater(!).
Dreamweaver update process went 65% of the way through before freezing with 5 seconds left on the clock and Photoshop failed altogther saying that the updater was invalid.  Dreamweaver gave me the error number U44M2I218, as discussed in the other thread by Ken.
I completely uninstalled every Adobe product, including Flash and Air
and ran the Cleaner Tool. After reinstalling and attempting the upgrade process for only Photoshop and Dreamweaver I received the same issues as discussed previously.
For some reason this caused issues with my OS and I've had to rebuild.  This time I'm running Windows 7 instead of XP SP3, but these products are not getting installed until someone from Adobe
can give me clear direction as to what I need to do.
To bring this up to date I received a PM this morning from Jeff Wright.  The message reads:
    To: mandelbrot
    From: Jeff A Wright
    Sent: 23-Oct-2012
Subject: Private Message: Regarding your updating difficulties
    Good day Paul Weston,
I am contacting you regarding the difficulties you have been having applying the Dreamweaver 12.0.2 update.  If you have contacted our support team if you can please provide me with the case number it will allow me to review your interaction.  In addition if you can please let me know your preferred e-mail address we can bring this conversation into e-mail as opposed to sending private messages back and forth.  This will be especially important when we need to look at your installation logs for the update which you are having difficulty applying.
    Thank you,
         Jeff Wright
    My reply:
    Hi Jeff,
Unfortunately I don't have any case number(s) even though I spoke to several of your colleagues in India, bit via chat and telephone.  Each time no case number was given to me.  At one point I did fill out a survey, also!
If you can trace it from this, my email address is <<emailadress>>, I'm linked to <<organisation>>NHS Trust and our primary contact used to be a gentleman called Eddie Drake (either <<emailaddress>> or <<emailaddress>>).  Failing that, our software license certificate number is <<id>>, end user id (whatever that is) is <<id>> and our Adobe order number for this consignment is <<id>>.
I don't want to hide this away from the community and have opened a new discussion to this end - any PMs or emails will be dropped into this unless you choose to use the discussion as a contact method.
    Paul.
Please feel free to add constructive comments anyone.
    Regards,
    Paul.
