Asset Intelligence Update Service Point fails to update

Hello,
as the titel says, for a couple of days now, the Site- and Component Status has been showing a critical error for the Asset Intelligence Synchronization Point, stating that the Update Service Point cannot be updated.
The system running is CM 2012 SP1 CU1 on a Server 2008 R2 SP1 Host with an SQL 2012 SP1 installation on the same machine. The AI Point syncs just fine and I can't "see" any errors in daily business tasks.
The AIUSSetup.log states that AIUS.msi could not be installed. Checking the AIUSMSI.log, I find the "error": AIUSDetectDowngrade_ErrorMessage = A newer version of the SCCM Asset Intelligence Update Service Point is already installed. Which
makes the MSI abort. Seems okay to me, but it retries every 60 minutes... is this a known behaviour/error? How could I fix this or turn the update off, if the whole thing's okay?
Cheers,
Fred

It's been a while since I posted this question and I've found a way to get this running.
The entire error message is a bit confusing, as the source was simple - the AI Update Service Point Service timed out when trying to start. Manually executing AIUS.msi, thus getting access to AI_UPDATE_SERVICE_POINT under services, which did not show up
earlier, then changing the startup type to delayed and changing the ServicesPipeTimeout value to 60 seconds in the registry (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control) and then rebooting did the trick. Everything's working fine now.
Cheers,
Fred

  • Asset Intelligence Update Service Point fails to install

    Hi,
I have one SCCM 2012 sp1 cu2 primary site running on Windows 2008 R2, and a separate SQL 2008 R2 database runnining in a cluster.
I installed the Asset Intelligence Service point using the default settings, but the component is critical.
When I look in AIUSMSI.log it tells me I do not have permissions to configure services - I am a local administrator on the primary server though and I can manuall stop and start services - error is:
Product: Asset Intelligence Update Service Point -- Error 1920. Service 'AI_Upate_Service_Point failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I ran the AIUS.msi and recieved the same error.
I went into services and stopped and restarted BITS, so my permissions seem fine. Has anyone else seen this problem?
    Thanks
    Jaz

I have created a Reddit in SCCM, describing my peoblem.
Please, can anyone take a look at it?
    http://www.reddit.com/r/SCCM/comments/2jbkfr/asset_inteligence_update_service_installation_ai/
    it goes like this:
I have came across an error entry in Monitoring node in SCCM console. Monitoring - System Status - Component Status, there was an entry about AI Update Service giving errors like this:
    1) On 10/15/14 08:38:03, component SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER on computer "SERVER FQDN" reported: Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system.
Solution: Review the previous status messages to determine the exact reason for the failure. Site Component Manager will automatically retry the reinstallation in minutes. To force Site Component
Manager to immediately retry the reinstallation, stop and restart Site Component Manager using the Configuration Manager Service Manager.
    2) Product: Asset Intelligence Update Service Point -- Error 1920. Service 'AI_UPDATE_SERVICE_POINT' (AI_UPDATE_SERVICE_POINT) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start
    system services.
What I have tried to do: - Reinstall the role from ConfigMgr console
    - Install the AI role manualy from .\ConfigMgr\bin\x64\AIUS.msi with elevated rights (domain admin rights) and from elevated CMD (domain admin rights) - Install the AIUS.msi with local administrator
    account
    Manual installation was both:
    - During the time SCCM tries to reinstall the role by it self
    - During the time the role isn't installed at all
    - During the time the role was installed before it was uninstalled for the first time when I started troubleshooting this
Basically nothing can start the service during the installation, not even account with domain admin rights.
Do you have any idea what can I do next?

  • Windows server update services installation failed the update could not be found

    Hi everybody...
I have tried to install WSUS Role on windows 2008 r2 ent server. its says windows server update services installation failed.
actually the wsus role for SCCM 2007, asper the prerequesite i have finished all other steps, only wsus role is pending.. please help..

    Thanks FinMaky,
    The keys are:
    (1) to delete WindowsUpdate registry keys, and then
    (2) enable/restart Windows Update services.
    (3) also to make sure there's no WSUS policy defining update server is in place
    This resolves my issue.

  • Asset Intelligence synchronization point failing to update, Status = Online Service account is not provisioned

Has anyone seen or dealt with this issue?
We are running SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 on Win 2008 R2 server and are having problems with our AI synch point where the Online Service Account is showing as not provisioned.  It's on the CAS and it synched months ago so it *was* working.
Attempted to uninstall and reinstall thinking that may help, but no luck.  Cannot locate anywhere to input an online service account or how to obtain one and we are not using a proxy to get out. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • OSX Server 3 Failed to Update Services, Reboot Fails now

I upgraded my Mini Server to Mavericks, then installed the Server 3 upgrade (paid $19.99).  The installation hangs during "Updating Services" and most windows become unresponsive.  Remains in that state for hours.  I lost patience and rebooted from a remote ssh session.  Now the server doesn't reboot.  I restored back to 10.8.5.
Has anyone encountered and resolved this condition?
To be precise, during the Update Services process, the gauge stops at the "d" in Updating... label.

I had the same problem. Finally found a solution that appears to work fine.
Using any free app uninstaller, remove "server" from your applications and remove it and all of its related files.
    Empty the trash.
Restart your Mac holding down the 'shift' key. This puts you in safe mode.
Go to the Apple app store and re-download the "server" app.It will ,et you do this, becuase it cannot find a copy of the app anyplace on your computer.
After downloading and installation, configure the 'server' app following its commands.
Restart as usual .... presto ... works!
You can then re-configure as required.

After installing the lightroom CC update, PS and Bridge reported they had updates.  When trying to update I get the error U43M1D204 and it fails.  Retried for two days now and still cannot get it to work.  Tried removing PS and Bridge but there is no uninstall or reinstall options.

  • How to reset client Software Update to point to Apple Update Servers?

    Hi folks
I've been messing around with Leopard Server over the last few months, and as part of that, swupdate server in that as well.
I made the mistake of pointing my laptop at it, which is Snow Leopard 10.6.0 - only to later find that Leopard 10.5 server can't server 10.6 updates as it doesn't catalog correctly.
So, I've backed out my changes to the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist file using defaults.
The system version (/Library/Preferences) file now reads:
    grolsch:~ wrkadmin$ defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
    LastAttemptDate = "2009-11-13 22:19:25 +0000";
    LastResultCode = 100;
    The user version (~/Library/Preferences) reads:
    grolsch:~ wrkadmin$ defaults read com.apple.SoftwareUpdate
    WebKitDefaultFontSize = 11;
    WebKitStandardFont = "Lucida Grande";
So, I've removed all the references to my attempted swupdate server, by ensuring no references of "CatalogURL" exist in either file.
I've also quadrouple checked that there's no managed settings enforced from Workgroup Manager as part of Open Directory on the same Leopard server, and there's definitely nothing enabled.
I've rebooted several times, I've restored the original plist file from before I made the changes to point to my local swupdate server, and I've even deleted the ** com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist file. To no avail.
Everytime I launch Software Update on my laptop, it's still pointing to the internal server, and it says the local server isn't responding.
I've done this backout on Leopard (10.5) machines with NO problem, but on Snow Leopard, it appears that the software update server is possibly held somewhere else, but I'm jiggered if I can find it.
Can anyone point out the schoolboy error that I've missed somewhere please??
To clarify: 10.5.8 Leopard Server, 10.6.0 Snow Leopard Client
    Thanks!
PS - for anyone that picks up on the repost from the client forum, just doing as I've been told and posting here instead!

    Hi
Make sure you're not bound to any directory server first. In 10.6 this would be accessed via the Accounts Preferences Pane > Login Options > Network Account Server > Join > Remove any LDAP Server entry. For 10.5 you use Directory Utility in /Applications/Utilities. For 10.4 use Directory Access in /Applications/Utilities. Next launch Terminal and issue these commands
    sudo -s
Provide the local admin password when prompted. If you've not set a password set one in the Account Preferences Pane. You won't see the password being typed in Terminal as there's no echo. Follow this with these commands:
    rm -R -v /Library/Managed\ Preferences
    rm -R -v /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    reboot now
On successful reboot and login you should be OK?

  • Security Update 2008-002 failed Software update install, now absent in SU

So, I used Software Update to download and install Security Update 2008-002, but at after downloaded and going through install process, it never completed. I think it never even reached the optimizing part. So, I forced quit Software update. Backed up everything before restarting. No issues restarting at all, but when I rerun software update, Security Update 2008-002 does not show up. Also, it does not appear in the receipts folder either. You can still manually download it however. I wonder if Apple was pulling it this morning? I can't figure out, since I see no evidence of it being installed, why it doens't show back up.

Yep, looked for that too. Nothing. I have noticed, in trying to download manually, that I get an "internal error" from Apple downloads a few times before actually getting it to download.
When I origianlly tried to use software update, it never made it past installing to optimizing. Normally, after optimizing, you have to restart for the updated software to take effect. Since it stalled out and just hung, I force quited Software Update. I wonder if they is why no reciept package shows, or, did it just really not install. Odd thing is, I know shockwave permissions differed after I restarted. So,either it's me, or Apple pulled it or is having issues.
I have never had a software update stall out before. ever.
Also, does not show up in Software update as installed either, but doesn't show up as available.

  • Mavericks 10.9.1 update not appearing in Server's Software Update service?

While I have been able to update my server to 10.9.1, my client computers all rely upon my server for their software updates.  And although i have repeatedly had the Software Update service fetch all new updates over the last day or so, the Mavericks 10.9.1 update still isn't showing up.
Does anyone else who is using the Software Update service actually have that update available to them, or is this a case of Apple simply not having made this update available to that service yet?  And if so, does anyone have an idea of how much of a delay should I expect?

    Hi again
Try running the following command in the terminal on your clients:
    defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL
The desired return value should be*:
    http://server.mydomain.com:8088/content/catalogs/others/index-10.9-mountainlion- lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog
*The base URL might be different depending on if you are using standard SU settings or if you have moved the files somewhere else.
If this is not your return value try running this on your clients again:
    sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://server.mydomain.com:8088/content/catalogs/others/index-10.9-mountainlion- lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog
You can reset the settings by running this command:
    sudo defaults delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL

  • Mac OS X Lion Software Update service does not reflect 10.7.1 update

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded my Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard server to 10.7.
Everything went ok, and the server tools are installed and working.
Last week, Apple released the 10.7.1 update, but this update is not reflected in the Lion Server's Software Update service.
Every time I start the catalog sync (either in the Server Admin app, or through Terminal), the sync process completes correctly without any errors, but the latest 10.7.1 update is not listed in the available updates.
Did I miss something there ?
Thanks in advance for your help,

    Additional info:
I followed KBase art HT4771, and made the following changes:
    1. Stopped the Software Update Service and quit Server Admin app
    2. Updated /etc/swupd/swupd.plist to begin hosting OS X Lion software updates by typing the following Terminal command:
    sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c 'add :otherCatalogs:2 string index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog' /etc/swupd/swupd.plist
    3. Updated /etc/swupd/swupd.conf to allow OS X Lion computers to receive updates as follows:
         "RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Darwin/11
         RewriteRule ^/index\.sucatalog$ /index-leopard-snowleopard.merged-1.sucatalog"
    became
         "RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Darwin/11
         RewriteRule ^/index\.sucatalog$ /index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog"
After completing this and restarted the Software Update Service, the Server's Software Update Service could find all updates, including Mac OS X 10.7.1 and more Lion updates (Multi-lingual voices, Server Essentials, ... ).
The issue is now that the client computers cannot find the Software Update server, though it is properly connected, regardless the selected catalog in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.
I am now considering to erase all updates from server, delete all config files, and restart service from scratch.
Any other idea before I start the big deletion ?

Then try to change 99 error status to 7 -> replication starts and fall to error again
All this time primary site KP0 is in maintainence mode... any ideas?

I found the issue with my site was because the site I added into the Hierarchy didn't have the replication link properties  site data for distributed views set.  Enabling these and running the link analyser again.  After a little time everything
    showed up green for me.

  • Failed to update U44M1P7

I am a Creative Cloud subscriber and think the products are excellent.  But I am getting a message that software needs to be updated and then "Failed to update U44M1P7".  Adobe has a solution for this: Download update manually from its website.  But that does not work either. It says to contact support.  I have contacted the chat line but they are aware of the problem but unable to help.  I am given a telephone number in USA that I cannot use.  I live in Western Australia and it is impossible to contact Adobe at present.  This is an issue Adobe is aware of.  Its products are good but for an organisation that has a prime goal of communication soft ware - its own communication is abyssmal.  How difficult is it for Adobe to comunicate with subscribers letting them know about the issue I and others are experiencing? And providing a solution?

I have tried to update apps one at a time and failed with same error (U44M1P7).  Adobe have information on this error here:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-u44m1p7-installing-updates-ccm.html
I am very suspicious of the update message in the first place as when I go to the Adobe updates page for Dreamweaver for example the latest seems to be 12.0.3 but I already have 12.2 so that does not make sense does it?  This is what i see:
The apps are working finr but the update messages keep coming back and keep failing.  It is very annoyng.  I have been told that Adobe is aware of the issue and working on a fix so maybe I should just ignore it.
It is 11:15 pm where I live and I am going to bed now!
