Asset is deactivated

Hi Experts,
Asset # xxxxxwas set-up and a Purchase Order No. 123456 was prepared. A partial payment was made with this PO.
But before the full payment was made, we transferred the full amount to Asset No. yyyyy
Now, I am making the full paymentu2026 a message in MIRO says u201Ccannot post, asset xxxx was deactivatedu201D.
If I cancel PO# 123456, what will be the effect of this?
or how to resolve this.

Hi,
When we transfer asset value from AUC to Asset (from XXXX to YYYY in your case) asset no. of AUC gets deactivated. So we can not post anything to that asset again unless we remove deactivation date from asset master. So remove deactivetion date from asset master if want to post to previous asset.

Asset retired/deactivated in current year pending adjustment from last year

Hi Guru's,
My user have one adjustments to do from previous fiscal year.
As we have some invoices in which we can do direct payment in Non-sap and for information purpose we enter the transaction in SAP. My user did a goods receipt in MIGO but have not created any invoice for the Vendor and done the payment. Now when I run MIRO with material document and PO, it is giving me message " You cannot post to this asset (Asset XXXXXXXXXXX deactivated)".
Note: Now the above asset X was retired current year and balance was carried forward to another Asset Y .
Option1. I tried activating asset in AS02 but it is in display mode. From where I can make it optional mode, plz give me the t.code.
Option2. While posting in MIRO, is it possible to change the Asset X to new Asset Y.
or if you have any other option please let me know.

The problem is not solved yet.
Viswa - In 2. Posting Information - FG 12 Deactivation is already flagged as Optional, MnNo. is ticked, Sbno. is ticked.
FG 13 Planned deactivation is flagged as Optional, MnNo. is ticked, Sbno. is unticked.
So this is not helping me out, am I missing something?
Siva - I tried again in MIRO, I am not able to change asset number. It is greyed out.
Please let me know what should i do?

Block a PO line items whose asset is deactivated

I have a custom requirement , where the user wants to bolck the PO line item even if its asset is deactivated.Is that possible ?
Do we have any enhancement points where we can write a code so that the SAP does not check whether the the asset is active or inactive ?
Note : I'm using me22 transaction using BDC method.
Any pointers would be helpful.

Asset Not Deactivated even after full retirement

Hi
I am retiring an asset completely in F-92 and also checked the option of "Complete retiremenmt".
But, the asset is not getting deactivated.. I remember, in earlier implementation, the main asset as well as the group asset both were geting deactivated....
group asset gets deactivated if all the assets in that group asset are sold off
But this time, none of them is getting deactivated
In transaction type (260,201,210, etc) , the option of "Deactivate asset" is also checked...
Any thoughts???

There is no value in any of the dep areas
Strange thing is that in quality client it is happening correctly, but in dev client its not happening
Config is same in both the clients.. I created new assets and posted same values in both the clients
Any other thoughts?

It is not possible to do this in the transaction AS91. When you are doing the take over during a fiscal year you have to go from the tab Asset values to Transactions and fill in there the ttype for deactivation.
Other wise you have to create a LSMW that is doing this deactivation after the upload

No retirements/deactivated assets in Asset History Sheet?

Dear all,
My customer has made a lot of retirements of assets the latest month. When doing retirements the status on the asset is "deactivated" and also I can see the deactivation date. All retired and deactivated assets can be seen in the Asset History sheet. But if I want to see the asset register without retired assets, how do I do that? Does it has something to do with the "history sheet version" in the Asset History Sheet report? Or do I have to shut down the asset?

If you execute the RAGITT, in the output list you have the button "dynamic selections".
-> posting information
-> Deactivation on
-> in the field right press the error and go to "exclude ranges"
-> Here please enter 01.01.2010 - 31.12.2010
If you now execute the RAGITT for 2010 all in 2010 deactivated asset are excluded.

After deactivation asset still shows value in AR03 cumulative value

Dear All
After deactivation of an asset , it still shows value in AR03 cumulative acq value column. can somebody guide us
where my client is lacking as we deactivated the asset on 14.05.2008 in AS02 and transfer the asset value thrru ABUMN
but still the same asset is showing the value on 31.03.2009 .

Does Deactivation really need manually entry of writing date in AS02 or date generates automatically thru ABUMN.
As i have already transfered value thru ABUMN and created one new asset against it.
The new asset is working properly but my deactivated my asset is quite trouble some. If I tick the box in Depreciation area
which is for deactivation, will all assets under that class will be deactivated ?
I just had same ABUMN procedure and my asset got deactivated.
I had one asset which is deactivated in 2008 mid, In 2008 AR03 shows 0 value but 2009 it shows its cumulative value.
In tag line my asset should not show the value after it's deactivation in AR03.
Please have some inputs on this.

Group Asset deactivating

Hi Gurus!
Can anyone please tell me why the Group Asset IT........ gets deactivate while retiring the a single asset. Group Asset IT......... is assigned in Depreciation Area 15 . But still Group asset gets deactivated in background while processing. Why?. Is there any logic or funda behind this? But after complete retirement also, there is some amount present in book depreciation area NBV. Why?

Select the check box of Asset Shut Down in Time dependent tab in Asset Master.
Asset shutdown
Set this indicator if you want to shut down the asset for the displayed period of time.No depreciation will be calculated for assets that have been shut down when you use an appropriate depreciation key.
Or Select Dactivation date in General Tab in Asset Master
Deactivation date
The system enters the asset value date of the retirement posting for a full retirement in this field.Once an asset has been deactivated, you can no longer post to the asset (with one exception: posting a reversal of the last retirement). In order for you to be able to make correction postings after an asset has been deactivated, you can also manually change the deactivation date in the asset master record

From the field documentation, it's mentioned :-
1) the asset is displayed in asset chart (which program / report is this?)
2) the asset and values/transactions belonging to it cannot be reorganized until the asset is deactivated - what does this mean? What does 'reorganized' mean?

You may find the following information when you press the F1 help:
Asset is managed historically
Set this indicator if you want the system to manage the asset with a
history. Active history management has the following effects:
o   The asset is displayed in an asset chart.
o   The asset and the values/transactions belonging to it cannot be
        reorganized until the asset is deactivated.
So if you do not set the indicator,you can not manage the asset with a history as the above information.
In addition,if the field is not modifiable,you may check the screen layout rule for the Asset class in OAOA.
As there is in the table ANKA-ANEQK no value '1' even like in ANLA-ANEQK no value '1' the report is giving the correct message.

Asset Value Adjustment

Hi Gurus,
I have an asset (equipment) which was capitalized on Aug 2007 and with useful life of 3 years. It was fully depreciated last July 2010. This asset needs to be repaired this Feb 2011. Kindly advise if we need to create a new asset number for the additional value that will be incurred for the repair. Or is it okay to use the same asset number whereby the cost of the repair will be added to the value of the asset. My problem however is when I add the value to the asset number (ttype 346) is that the additional value(cost of the repair) only depreciates for 2 months? Is this standard in SAP?

Let me make a conclusion: A asset was deactivated in the closed fiscal year 2007 and now it should be activated again.
1)   If you have ANLC lines you can also use the old asset.
If you remove de deactivation date in a closed fiscal year (2007), in new releases there should be ANLC lines created. Please check it at first in a test system.
If there are no ANLC lines you can create them with RACORR110 and RACORR55 from the note 366848

2) If and how much is depreciated depends on your settings.
Check the useful life and your depreciation key.
For example: If the useful life is over and you have a depreciation key which stops depreciation after useful life, the depreciation ends.

Asset balance transfer is showing blank in AW01N

Hi,
One user created asset under wrong asset class and one month depreciation was posted of that wrong asset. in the month of september. Now user has created new asset under proper asset class and made balance transfer from wrong asset to newly created asset through ABUMN in month of October i.e, period 7. In ABUMN we have transfered to New Asset field. After successful balance transfer old asset become deactivated and balance has come to new asset but through AW01N I cannot see the balance which is showing blank under planned value, posted values. Even new asset's first acquisition on date and Acquistion Year is showing as blank.
How it can be rectified ?

during balance transfer through ABUMN I used old asset number in Asset Field, Document date, posting date, asset value date and under Transfer to tab I put new asset number in New Asset Field - Mster data - Asset Class - Company Code/Asst Number and made tick on subnumber and simulated finally. Accounting document generated properly. Even through FS10N I can see GL balance also against this asset number. But if I go through AS02 or AS03 or AW01N it is showing as blank. No values are showing. I think I made mistake in ABUMN, instead of putting value under Existing Asset field I wrongly used New asset. As a result I cannot see the date under "First Acquisition on" and ""Acquisition Year". What should I do ? Should I cancel the asset again and create new asset and transfer again or any other procedure . Becasue if First Acquisition on date and Acquisition Year appear in asset master against this new asset, automatically value will in Aw01n.

Definition of Asset Reorganization,eg Manage History flag in class define?

The F1 help behind the "Manage Historically" flag in Asset Class definition states one of the effects is:"The asset and the values/transactions belonging to it cannot be reorganized until the asset is deactivated."
What does "reorganized" refer to in this context?
I've searched this forum, and there are references using the term but not including any reference to the definition. Googling variations on SAP/Asset/reorg has returned some great results, e.g. a 500+ page amazingly complete detail manual from SAP on fixed assets that I'm very happy to have found, but even that does not define the term in tht context of Fixed assets. Searching for the term in the document points to a page that simply states"For more information on archiving and reorganization of asset data, see Archiving in the R/3 System [Ext.]." So I've got it narrowed down to having something to do with archiving.
So here's my specific question; At the highest possilble level,e.g. one or two sentences, can someone tell me what the term "Reorganization" refers to in this context?
Any info would be appreciated.

Whenever you're confronted with an issue of this sort, the first thing you have do to is to break the down the issue or definition. Your main bone of contention is the word "Reorganization".
In this instance, if I were you, I will take the this issue out of the realm of technicality or SAP and try to understand what the word "reorganize" means.
"Reorganize" means to effect changes or organize something new. Although "historically or history" means a written record or systematic record of events or accounts, SAP is saying, if you check "manage historically" in the asset master record, in order for you to reorganize the asset record, you would have to deactivate the check.
Let's take a typical example: Your company implemented IRFS standard IAS16 and therefore you need to make some changes to your property, plant and equipment which may also require changes to your depreciation expense, asset values as a result of new useful life etc. You can't do any of this if you check manage history. It does not however means you cannot post depreciation values. What you cannot do though is make changes.
If you ask in the asset accounting category forum the number of companies which have activated this check, I'm pretty sure you might not even get one. We have fixed asset module activated at my company and we've never had this check activated. And I did the whole config. from A to Z.
Finally, it is good to play around the issue in your sandbox client and that will give you a better idea of the function.
