Asset Library in Document Folder?

Hi, I am still brand new to using SharePoint, and I was wondering if it was possible to put a asset library into a document library folder?
for instance, I have a document library with a folder for each product.  and in each product folder, I want to have a folder for photos and videos.  ( I want to be able to have the thumbnails, thats why I am using the asset library).
What are the steps I need to set the folders up correctly?
Thank you!

  • Html documents in webServer/documents folder I can't open...

    Hi all,
For a while now I've been researching on how to use a mac as a webserver to host my sites.
I know that to get users to access sites fromt the server without having to use user folders I'll have to store my sites in the HDD's library/WebServer/Documents folder.
Well, having a look at this folder it is filled with some form of HTML documents, such as Index.html.en, Index.html.cn etc etc. I gather that these are different language variations of an index html document. However because of the html.en extension etc I can't seem to open the document in a web browser, I can open it in textedit and it confirms it is a html doc.
Why can this not be opened? do they need to be deleted and replaced with my own sites if I use my mac as a webserver?
    Thanks

    Hi--

You're right, these are localized language variations of the default Apache welcome page. You should be able to open them by dragging them to a web browser window. Apache doesn't server those pages out as a result of a direct request, but as the result of a content negotiation. In other words, if someone requests French pages, they'll get index.html.fr as a result. There's more information about it in the Apache docs on the subject.
    do they need to be
deleted and replaced with my own sites if I use my
    mac as a webserver?
You can delete them if you want. The one relating to the Apache manual is the symbolic link called "manual". If you want to be able to type http://localhost/manual/ into your browser to get the manual, I'd leave it.
One warning, though: sometimes, as a result of a software update from Apple, those files will all get placed there again (I don't think they'll overwrite existing files, however). I don't know how often that's happened recently, though, as I've done as Tim suggested in his post and moved all my web sites to their own folders and pretty much ignore the default one.

  • Can iCloud documents in Mobile Documents folder be restored from a Time Machine backup?

Integration with iCloud seems much improved so far in Mountain Lion. Thanks, Apple! Just to be on the safe side, though: are documents stored in the ~/Library/Mobile Documents folder included in Time Machine backups, and fully restorable? This seemed a little uneven prior to Mountain Lion.
I just wanted to make sure that these documents are always backed up in case there is ever a problem with iCloud (or in case I simply make a mistake and an unintended change or deletion propogates across all my devices and I need to restore an earlier version).

Wow! It didn't occur to me that it would work this way, although of course it makes perfect sense—and it works. I just tried it.
It doesn't actually seem to work with older documents (I tried in Pages), and I'm not sure if that problem has to do with Mountain Lion, or previous versions of iWork apps, or both. But I tried it with a fresh document, deleted it restored it, and was able to use it. So finally it seems that iCloud works the way it should.
    Thanks again.

  • How to share out web Documents folder in read/write mode

I have a MacPro at work with Mac OS X 10.5.1 sitting on a network with a static IP address which is accessible via the Internet with few restrictions. This Mac does not use the built-in firewall; it is off. I regularly use my Mac at home to update a web site which I host on this Mac for a non-profit community group.
What I am trying to do is set up the /Library/WebServer/Documents folder with this organization's president so he can update the web site himself. He has a Mac running Tiger. I created an account and set up file sharing and he can mount this folder on his desktop and see its contents; however, the Documents folder and every item in it are locked so no updates or changes can be made. When I check with Get Info, the Documents folder shows a lock symbol, but when I unlock it and use the option to apply the change to the folder's contents, then close the Get Info window and open it again, the lock is activated again. He and I are the only ones with permissions to alter these files, and I don't have a lock on them. How can I remove the lock so my co-webmaster can update the files?

Unfortunately, his Mac is not local to me. I would have to drive about 30 miles each way, which is not too bad, but I won't have time to do it for a couple of weeks and I am hoping an easier solution can be found without me having to drive, especially since if the problem is on my end, that trip would be a waste of time for both of us.

  • The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk.

The iCloud Drive folder in Library/Mobile Documents is taking up way too much space on my startup disk
I was hoping my files would stay in the cloud and not take up a ton of space on my machine (only a 128gb SSD).  But while performing an overnight time machine backup I came back to find a "Startup Disk Full" error message.  I only have about 20gb used locally but over 200gb in iCloud Drive at the moment.
Is there a way to clear the cache so my files stay on iCloud and not hogging space on my SSD? Or a way to redirect this library to my 2nd hard drive?
I'm using a 15" mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a 1TB hard drive and I've replaced the optical drive with a 128gb SSD for my OS (which is where my library is, hence the difficulty).
    Thank you!

While puttering around after posting this I think I found my personal solution here: http://macs.about.com/od/diyguidesprojects/qt/Move-Your-Home-Folder-To-A-New-Loc ation.htm
I'm just going to move my home folder to my 2nd internal 1TB hard drive to solve my problem.
But my question remains, how can we minimize the amount of local space iCloud Drive ***** up?  I wanted to get the rumored new macbook air that might come out next year but this is a big turn off if iCloud drive is going to overwhelm the SSD in the AIr.

  • Opening Document in Asset Library that is not a photo

    Hi,
I am having an issue with my asset library.
When in a document library, you can click on the link to a document and it opens up the document straight from that page.  However, I needed to create an asset library because we have some photos in our folders that we wanted to have the thumbnail view
available.  When trying to open a document (PDF, excel, word, powerpoint) it takes you to another page first, where you can then click the title of the document to open it.  I was wondering if there was a way to skip that page, and have the document
    open on the first click?
This is the page I am brought too when I try and open the PDF from the "first click"

  • ITunes Library File in Documents Folder? Mac problem not Windows

    I am confused!
I have several very small iTunes Library folders in my Music/iTunes file which date back to iTunes 4. Some of the files are less than 10kb. I also have a folder titled Previous Libraries in my Music/iTunes file which has two Libraries which are 768kb and 2.6mb in size. My main library which is 10.3mb was in my Documents folder which seems strange. I have now moved it to my Music/iTunes folder which is where I think it should be.
I am trying to tidy up what appears to be a bit of a mess. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Can't find "manual" folder in /Library/WebServer/Documents/

I am trying get MAMP working with the apache server on Mac OS X. But I can't seem to find the manual folder that should exist in /Library/WebServer/Documents/manual. Any one know why? Or where I can get a fresh download of the stuff that should be there?

They do not exist in the server DocumentRoot
    If you're running Apache2, the httpd.conf has a line:
    AliasMatch ^/manual(?:/(?:de|en|es|fr|ja|ko|pt-br|ru))?(/.*)?$ "/Library/WebServer/share/httpd/manual$1"
This essentially tells Apache to serve any request for /manual* from /Library/WebServer/share/httpd/manual which is where you'll find the docs you're asking about.
Since the alias exists, you can also visit http://ip.of.your.server/manual/

  • Moving documents with a workflow from a document library to a folder and back to the document library

    Hello all,
I have created a document library with a folder inside of it.
By means of a workflow, I could move a document that was in the document library to the folder using the action “update path and name”. Now I need to do the reverse path, that is, using a workflow I’d like to
move the document that is now in the folder, back to the document library but I can´t find the action “update path and name”. Do you have any ideas on how to solve this?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards.

    Hi Juan,
For your issue, you can consider the actions as below:

  • Unable to check-in, check-out and workflow videos in an Asset Library

    Hi All,
This may seem like a silly question but I have yet to find anything official about why you cannot check in/out video files in an Asset Library or workflow them. We have an approval workflow in our publishing environment which works great and I'm able to
check in/out and workflow images and even documents in an Asset Library but not Videos. We want videos to go through an approval process as well and I'm not talking about simple Content Approval, we want it to go through an approval workflow but check in/out
is grayed out/disabled and of course we can't workflow the videos.
I take it there must be some reason for this but I haven't been able to find an explanation. Any info you can provide me was to why this functionality is disabled would be appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Lisa

Hi Lisa, it appears to me that Video content type do not have checkIn/Out feature as it derived from folder CT. You can use document library to upload video using document content type and then checkIn/CheckOut. Hope this helps.

  • Asset Library Upload - hide Destinationfolder option

    Hi All,
How can we hide "Destination Folder ",
option in the Asset library while uploading a document in sharepoint 2013 environment.
    Thanks,
    Pavankumar.

    Hi,
By design, the "Destination Folder" will appear when the library has folders.
If you want to hide the option, the following PowerShell script for your reference:
    $SiteURL="http://SiteURL"
    $site = new-object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite($SiteURL)
    $web=$site.OpenWeb()
    if ($web.CustomUploadPage -ne "")
    $web.CustomUploadPage = ""
    $web.Update()
    $web.Close()
    $site.Close()
We also can modify the upload.aspx page or customize your own upload page.

  • Does anyone know how to change the location of Library/Mobile Documents?

Several months ago I decided to try a Solid state drive and during the process for space reasons I relocated my home folder to another internal drive.  Last week I decided to get rid of the solid state and replace it with the original 750 gig drive I had and move my home folder back to this (my system) drive.  During the process of moving my home folder the first time I had partitioned that drive in to 3 parts so that I could use part of it as a backup for my system drive.
I now want to erase that drive and reset it back to a single partition.  I am unable to erase and/or repartition because I can't unmount the partition that contained my old home folder.  I was able to put it in the trash and erase the contents it but everytime I restart my computer a new home folder (by name only as it does not have the house icon) is created on the old partition with the following folders:
    User Folder
         Library
              Mobile Documents.
I thought it was Icloud related so I tried turning off Icloud and trashing this folder but still was unable to unmount the partition or drive and upon rebooting (even with Icloud off) the folder reappeared.  I'm at a loss as to what to try to do now.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    1. boot from Install DVD
    2. open Disk Utility
    3. Select the hard drive from left hand column (NOT partition but drive, eg something like WDBEVE and not s03 etc).
    4. Click on Partition tab in main window
    5. Select "Current"
    6. Select partition you wish to delete
    7. Click on minus sign on bottom left
    8. Confirm Delete
    9. Drag original partition to include full disk
    10. Confirm resize
That's it! Reboot and you're done.

  • How do I move Documents folder?

I am trying to free space on my old Macbook Pro.  My friend created a partition where I am moving most of my files to, including my pictures, downloads and Dropbox.
I would like to move my Documents folder too as there is plenty of space remaining in the partition.
Is there a simple way to do this?  A drag and drop simply copies the files but I want to move the default location if possible.
    Many thanks

Will the issue you have both raised affect my computer if I move the Documents Folder?
I don't think so. AFAICT, Office 2008 has no problems with symbolic links under SL. Regarding the MUD folder, if you quit all Office apps and move it to <~/Library/Preferences>, it should stay there. See this hint
    <http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20060228051625893>
If this were my machine, I shouldn't try to move a subfolder of Home -- either move it all, or store my documents in a different folder from <~/Documents> (you can put a symlink to this folder in Documents; if you give the link a name beginning with a blank space, it will always be listed first in Open or Save dialogues). But if disk space constraints don't allow you to do this, and you have to move Documents, I don't see any other solution than the one suggested by Matt Clifton.

  • All Documents folder

What is this for?I'm trying to clean out my Macbook and my All Documents folder seems to have a backup of everything on it....all my photos, videos, iTunes library, garageband projects, loop downloads.....7,663 things....can I delete the lot and why are they there?

It's a search result page, not a folder, and takes up very little space itself. Don't delete its content.

  • Can't drop files from Downloads or Documents folder on the dock to any other Finder window

I have been downloading some files and dragging/dropping them into another folder for the last 30 minutes or so. They're downloading to the default Downloads folder, and then I've been dragging them from that folder in the Dock, which opens like a fan, and dropping them into another folder (my Documents folder) in an open Finder window.
All of a sudden, I can't drop files from the Downloads fan anywhere else. I also tested, and can't drop files from my Documents folder or my Screenshots folder, two other folders that are on the right side of my dock and open up like a fan.
I can drag them, but when I hover over the folder that I want to drop them into, nothing happens. If I let go, they just stay in their original folder (the Downloads folder).
So basically something happened with the folders on the right side of the dock that's not letting me drop the files anywhere else from the Dock. If I open the folders in their own Finder window, I can drag/drop just fine. It just won't let me do it from the Dock as I had been.
Any ideas? I've tried restarting as well as sleeping/waking as I saw recommended on here, but no luck.

Open Finder, press Option key, select Go > Library, open Preferences, delete com.apple.dock.plist and reboot
