Use the T Code AIAB to distribute to an asset / GL. And then run AIBU to settle the same. After this settlement you can run your depreciation

My mpeg4 Log and transfer takes 3x normal speed!

I have 28GB of footage shot by a FS 100 at 1080p24, AVC HD (=mpeg 4 said the cameraman), which I'm trying to Log & Transfer into Final Cut version 6.
I selected all the clips of the 1st folder in a queue: the 1st one is 21min, I left for 1hr 1/2 and it's still transfering, and only a 3rd of it is transfered.
I have to have this thing cut by Tuesday morning. Can anybody help make this process go faster? The cameraman says it usually goes faster, like P2.

This is my first time transfering P2 / mpeg-4 to Final Cut. The cameraman told me to import the folder of clips (which we downloaded from his camera card), into Final Cut via Log & Transfer, and that turns the clips into Quick Time. I understood that it would be just be a transfer of files, but the time it takes for each clip on the cue is longer even than real time. Someone told me that my computer being old (4-5 yrs MacBook Pro OS 10.4.11) my processor must be too slow. Is it mechanical you think, or is there a better way of using the application Log & Transfer?

Hi,
You can manage the asset under construction in the system in two different ways, depending on the types of functions that you need. The asset under construction can be either a normal asset record, or a master record with line item management. As a result, the transfer from the asset under construction to completed fixed assets can be handled in one of two ways:
·        Summary transfer from a normal asset master record to the receiver assets (transaction type 348/349)
·        Line item settlement of an asset under construction that has line item management
The Investment Management (IM) component is recommended for handling large-scale capital investments. Using the IM component, you can manage a capital investment in parallel: for financial accounting purposes as an asset under construction, and for controlling purposes as an internal order or project. For more information, see the documentation for the Investment Management component.
Assets under Construction Without Line Item Management
The procedure corresponds to the procedure for the transfer between two assets within the same company code (see Posting the Splitting or Moving of an Asset). Before carrying out a full transfer of an asset under construction, you have to reverse any down payments that were posted in the current fiscal year. Down payments are ignored for a partial transfer.
Special transaction types for the transfer of assets under construction allow for transfers to be displayed in the asset history sheet as acquisitions to fixed assets.
Assets under Construction with Line Item Management
In the FI-AA component, you can accumulate costs under purely technical aspects in an asset under construction. You do not need to consider the later creation of fixed assets at this point. During the construction phase, you can accumulate all acquisitions for an investment in a single asset. These acquisitions include
·        External activity (acquisition from vendor)
·        Internal activity (internal order)
·        Stock material (withdrawal from warehouse)
in a single asset. When using this 'collective management' of assets under construction, it is possible to manage the individual acquisitions as open items over the course of several fiscal years. At completion, the line items must be cleared and then distributed to the various receivers. The system activates open item management when an asset under construction is created, if you set the corresponding indicator in the asset class. In addition, you have to assign a settlement profile to the company codes involved, in Customizing for Asset Accounting, in order for the line item settlement to work (see Define Settlement Profile in the Implementation Guide). The main function of the settlement profile is to specify the allowed receivers (such as, assets or cost centers).

5 hours to do 6 GB of transfer is NOT normal, even for USB 2.0 so there's something wrong here. I'd say cancel it, wipe the drive and then test the integrity of the drive. Do some file transfers over to and see if it's behaving normally. It could be a bad USB cable, it could be a bad drive or bad enclosure. As it's new, I suspect you haven't really put it through its paces yet and it's important to do that first before commissioning it to serve as your "reliable backup."

Reset opacity to 100% / normal apply mode?

Is there a script (or technique) that can globally reset the opacity of everything to 100% and change the transfer mode to normal? Not just top layers, but every object in a group and every group in a layer.
The Clear Appearance button on the Appearance panel resets too many things (including color).
I frequently need to prep Illustrator documents for After Effects. Illustrator layers containing objects with transparency and transfer modes don't translate well when imported into AE. (A layer with 50% opacity in Illustrator is imported as a translucent layer with 100% opacity in AE, even though visually it's 50%)

Slow USB transfer

I can't figure out how to replicate this yet, but it's happened twice today. I'm stuck and don't know what to look at next, but it's a problem.
My USB transfer speeds slowed to a crawl on a 2GB directory copied via Ranger just now, and earlier on a larger transfer. Several GB took ~2 hours over USB 2.0 from ext4 HDD to fat32 USB. The USB stick is RadioShack's GigaWare brand and shows up as Sandisk in lsusb, and never been formatted since i opened it.
Looks like ehci_hcd is loading properly for the disk. usb 8-2 is my mouse. Got a USB fan plugged in (one 5V one), too.
I haven't modified the udev rules and usually let udiskie mount things.

I'm not sure where to look next to try to diagnose. There's a bug report that may describe this but i'm out of my depth here.
On edit I'm assuming those power lost/reset events are suspends but not sure.

I have a nettop powered by one of those little 90W "brick" power supplies and if I plug my Hauppage USB TV adapter into the sucker it draws so much power that all hell breaks loose on the system. I can't tell how badly though because the USB keyboard goes dead.
A powered USB hub fixed that issue.
But again, I have no idea if this is even remotely related to your errors.
Another thing (since I'm on a roll with bad advice)... I've got some USB flash drives that are simply dog slow... they just are. Put a different brand into the same slot and do the same operations and the difference is amazing. Plus, you don't mention the size of the USB flash drive, but they are known to get slower on writes the closer they are to being full... that's just how they roll.

Slow transfer from/to SMB share over Airport

Recently I updated my Macbook's Airport with 2008-004 (OSX 10.5.5) update and now I am experiencing very slow transfers to and from SMB share.
I get normal speeds (~3MBps) if I copy file from my macbook to iMac, but when I copy the same file to (or from) Windows share the speed drops to ~130kBps after 1 or 2 gigabytes of transfer and never recovers to full speed afterwards. If I connect to this Windows machine using FTP the transfer speed is normal - 3MBps.
I also tried streaming to my appleTV which is also connected wirelessly and all movies play just fine.
If I connect my macbook to wired 100Mbps ethernet the transfer speed to windows share is full 8MBps.
Anyone has any ideas what's happening?

This has been an ongoing problem of the Airport Extreme for, well, forever. In the beginning, I even thought my AE was broken, so I returned it to the shop to get a new one. I got a new one alright, but it has the same problem.
I've Googled this problem many times and once in a while I try again to hopefully find a solution, but no luck so far. Whenever there is a software (or actually firmware) update for the AE I get very excited, only to get disappointed again.
The performance of the AE I have now is really unpredictable, sometimes it would do up to 8 MB/sec. Lately though, it only does 1 MB/sec and the network activity looks really weird (a lot of spikes in traffic and then slowing down again).
I'm 100% Mac here and nothing in this house runs windows, so I'm really lost on this subject and I feel like I should give up and just buy myself a good Linksys that actually does the job.
But, just to keep trying: does anybody found a solution to this common problem?

USB Flash Drive Transfer Speed Extremely Slow

I have a 32GB Verbatim USB Flash Drive. The speed is 480Mb/sec. My mac is a MacPro running 10.5.8.
For some reason the transfer speeds from the computer to the flash drive is really slow. 2gb file takes 3 hours to transfer. I tested the flash drive on another MacPro and the transfer speeds were normal.
I have reformatted the flash drive (as FAT32) but it doesn't seem to help that much.
Anyone have this problem before and know whats up? This thing is basically unusable right now...

I just used Quickbench to test the speeds on my USB drive. About 38mbs Read, 32mbs Write. Pretty poor numbers. How that works out to your own I don't know, maybe you could do the math to find out.

I need to install a new hard disk - not sure how to install

I travelled for a month, and didn't turn off my imac, which I thought I did. My country is hot at this time of the year.
When I got back home, I found that the desktop was crashed, so I did a restart and the computer never booted. I tried again and again.
I performed qa recovery boot, and using the utility I tried to do a disk repair. It initially found problems and started working on them. However, it always crashed in the process after many hours. After several repititions and a lot of research, I booted my iMac with a ubuntu live CD and the diagnoses it performed told me that:-
1- The hard disk will fail, and this is inevitable, something about S.M.A.R.T. (?).
2- There were HDD fan cooling thermal problem, and some read/write problems, and something third.
At this point, I recovered the 'User' folder that includes the desktop, my documents, pictures, etc, and seems ok to run on other O/s's.
I am willing to also retrieve the applications folder if possible, with all the programs.
I feel I need to replace my 1 TB hdd with a new one, but if I did, I have no clue how to install it. I do not have the installation CD's. I bought it installed, and then upgraded to snow leapord using iTunes.
If I found a shop to do the replacement of the HDD' how would I install Snow Leapord again? Is there any other advise?

I had the same problem. Getting WiFi sharing to work was particularly important for me since my USB port is pretty much shot. From the linked guide, in Windows 7,
On a Windows computer, open the Run dialog box (shortcut of Windows Key + R) and type file:\\127.1.1.1 or \\127.1.1.1 (where 127.1.1.1 should be replaced with the actual IP address of the BlackBerry PlayBook)
For me, this opened up the Playbook as a network location based on IP. From there, I could transfer files as normal.

Picking from warehouse for Consignment Fill Up

For the Consignment Fill Up flow , I am not able to create a transfer order for the delivery.
I am getting the below error :
Data for storage type search is not defined (A )
But from the same plant, I am able to do picking through transfer order for normal sales order.
Is there any specific setting that needs to be maintained for the Consignment Fill up flow with regard to warehouse setup.

I'm very sorry, I think I misunderstood your question.
1. You can do outbound delivery (picking+GI) from consignement stock.
2. You have problem when you want to create TO from TR that was created when goods arrived at your WH.
You said you cannot create TO. I guess you can create TO, your problem is that SAP can't find automatically into which bins to move the goods when you process the TR (are creating the TO). Please confirm it.
(you can give the destination storage typr/bin manually)
If your problem is this you can check your settings:
SPRO > LE > WM > Strategies > Storage Type Search (+ S. Section Search + S. Bin S.)
Here you can choose 'Determine search sequence' > Please select the relevant line, that you use for the putaway of normal goods > copy it and write 'K' in 'special stock indicator' field.
I do not know your settings but maybe this information can help you to start to resolve the problem you are facing.

"Warm transfers" to a queue using ad-hoc conferencing

Hi all,
Just wondering if someone can help. We have an issue with a UCCX 7 deployment where an agent in a queue initiates what he refers to as a warm transfer to another queue. Essentially he he is transferring a caller to another queue by initiating a conference with the queue and then ending his side of the call once in there, leaving just the caller hearing the "your call is important" type messages. Think of it as holding the callers hand until they have been queued. The issue is that once their call is handed off to the next available agent in the second queue the caller, the new agent AND the queue are now conferenced together ie. the caller and the new agent continue to hear the in queue messages.
Is this the expected behaviour in this scenario? We have asked the agents to simply transfer the callers to the second queue if possible, but as they aren't very happy with what they see as a loss in functionality I'd like to rule out a possible solution before saying it can't be done. The part that I'm not wrapping my head around is how, once the agent leaves the conference, the caller, the new agent and the queue are being conferenced together. Surely the ad-hoc conference ends once there are only two participants, and if so what is initiating the new conference.
Any ideas will obviously be very much appreciated. Cheers in advance

That's not the correct name, in my opinion.
The industry standard definition of a "warm transfer" or "consultative transfer" is that the caller is placed on hold while the first agent finds the second agent. Whether the first agent does this directly to the second agent, or does it through the queue, wherein he must wait for the second agent to become available and answer the consult call in the queue, is immaterial.
This is "warm" because the first and second agent can exchange information about the caller, producing a smoother handoff of the call. Once the second agent has been given the information and indicates they will accept the call, the transfer can be completed.
There is no need to do this as a conference - and it is detrimental to do so, as it uses up conferencing resources and bandwidth (a problem in a branch office environment). When done as a consult, and once connected to the target agent, one can even use the alternate-reconnect to toggle back to and forth to the caller and second agent to facilitate introductions. With practice, this can be done correctly without doing a conference.
Should no second agent answer the queued call in a REASONABLE time, the first agent gets the caller back (kills the consult leg) and explains the situation. This is what makes it "warm" - the caller is never left stranded.
Now what your blokes are doing is a bit useless. What is the point of the two parties being in conference to hear the queue message? If the agent wants to dump the caller in the queue, which is what they are doing (nothing "warm" about it), then they can start a consult to the queue point, hear the start of the messaging, and complete the transfer - dumping the caller into the queue.
Basically, they are messed up. They COULD do it with a conference as long as they WAIT for the 2nd agent to answer - then all three parties are in conference. But it my opinion it's not needed. But if they want to dump the caller off into the queue, just use a consult + transfer in the normal way.
