Right click on InfoSource and you can see Assign DataSource or
Right click on DataSource and you can see Assign InfoSource.
In BI7 you can find Create Transfer Rules click on that

Hi All,
I am trying to assign the Datasource 2LIS_11_VASCL from our
R/3 development system to infosource in BW development system.But it is not allowing me to do so by giving an error message that the 'R3TR ISMP 2LIS_11_VASCL TDW910 is locked for request/task'. But when i checked the
request mentioned ,i found that it is already transported.
Can somebody help in resolving this.

Hi,
That DS may be locked by some other user in other request.Frst findout in whose ID the request has been saved, communicate him, after unlock the request. You can Unlock the request through SE03.

Please Help. Problem Assigning Datasource

I created a test Master data Infoobject abc_xxx and loaded data and then after testing deleted it. Now when I am trying to assign a new datasource to an existing Infosource from where I loaded data into the test Infoobject , I am getting error message that there there is no InfoProvider or data target named abc_xxx.
Could anybody please help me out here?

If you are not trying to use this infoobject, the above message should not appear at all.
Please follow the following steps to assign a source system.
1. Goto Source Systems and check the source system u want to use is in Active state.
2. right-click on ur InfoSource -> Assign Datasource
3. from the drop-down, selet ur source system
4. choose a datasource if the source is r/3
5. modify/change transfer structure/comm structure/transfer rules
6. save n activate.

hi,
datasource is collectionof fields that are to be transferred from any source system (flat file, R/3 etc.)
into BI system.Generally it means datasource corresponds to system that is going to send the data.
Infosource is collection of infoobjects in BI system and is assigned to to transfer data from data source to data targets, it act mediator which help to transfer only required data into data target. Infosource is flexibly used to send data to any no of data targets.
supoose ur data source contains fields like a, b ,c
and in data target u want a ,b*c u can do it in infosource in transformation .or u want only b, c u can choose it in infosource.
data source contains fields from where u extract data while infosource contains fields required to load data in targets in BI
u will lots of data in sdn and in hlep too.

Unable to assign datasourve to infosource

Hi friends,
I could able to replicate data sources from R3(4.7 E) to Bi7.o , but could not assign data source to infosource as source system for r3 is not visible..
what can i do?

Hi,
I hope you have build teh connection between R/3 and BW. If yes, you should be able to see teh source system in "Source system tab". If not, build teh connection first adn create source system in BW.
Also you can try going to RSA1 --> datasource tab --> find your replicated datasource --> right click and select assign infosource.
If this is standard datasource, then you should business content Infosource there while assignment. If infosource is not installed, this will take you automatically to RSORBCT (business content installation screen). Once infosurce is installed then DS to IS assignment can be done.

Business content empty in BW 7.3 for datasources and infosources

Hi,
We recently installed BW 7.3 system. I went to business content to install data source and it is empty.
I double clicked RSDS and TRCS select object and they did not get the list of datasources and infosources.
I checked the system status and this is the information

Attributes of the Assigned DataSources

Dear all,
I'm maintaining an InfoObject in BW3.5. On the "attributes" tab, there's a table named "Attributes of the Assigned DataSources". Can anybody explain the meaning and usage of this table?

Hi,
Characteristic as a attribute
Attributes are InfoObjects that exist already, and that are assigned logically to the new characteristic. There are the following ways to maintain attributes for a characteristic:
· Choose attributes from the Attributes of the Assigned DataSources list.
· Use F4 Help for the fields that are ready for input in the Attributes of the Characteristic list, to display all the InfoObjects. Choose the attributes that you need.
· In the Attributes list, specify directly in the fields that are ready for input the name of an InfoObject that you want to use as an attribute. If the InfoObject that you want to use does not yet exist, you have the option of creating a new InfoObject at this point. Any new InfoObjects that you create are inactive. They are activated when the existing InfoObject is activated.

Cannot connect Datasource to Infosource (Change protected)

Hi,
I have a custom defined Infosource (with custom defined Info Objects) currently in class $tmp.
I want to connect a (previously) custom created datasource to it (which is tranported from another BW 3.5 system). Then it gives me the error:
RSAR 771 Objects can only be displayed (change protected).
The datasource is still not connected to any other Infosource.
Any idea what is happening here?
And (2) How to loose the 'Change protection'?

Hope some changes have happened on that data source, so please save and activate once again... after that do post processing of the data source...
Then Replicate the data source at BW system side and try to connect assign your custom define info source to that data source.

Assigning datasource

Hi all,
Some master data has been posted in the source system. we can see the no. of records in the rsa7 . so now to bring those records to the bw side , I am trying to assign the data source(of that source system) to the infosource but it is showing that no datasource exits .
In the rsa1-> source system-> I have already replicated the datasource but still it is showing that there are no datasource for that master data in the asource system .
Can anybody help please. DO i need to maintain the data source

1. is that DS Source supports Delta?
Yes, it does support otherwise how data will come to rsa7.
2. Yes u r unable to do any thing in BI Side then come to ECC delete the DS from RSA6 and try to activate from RSA5.Once again it will be displayed in RSA6.

Datasource Vs Infosource in BI 7.0

In the new BI version, I suppose that only exist DataSource ( rsa1--datasource).
The Infosource option is for the 3.X version( rsa1-infosurce )
Is it correct ?

You can make any changes to these rules centrally in this one transformation, as required

Dynamic Creation of Table and assign Datasource.

Hi Experts
My scenario is like this..
There are more than one RFC models and the output list of these models I need to display in a table format.. The display should happen conditionally as per the availabity of the data in the output list..I need to display the data from multiple models at the same time the said table..
Please let me know the methods to create a table with 5 columns and also how to assign the datasource programatically..

Pass parameter to dynamically assign datasource?

I've been struggling with this one... I have a current set of reports that run on a single set of SQL queries. The problem is that at the end of each period (lets just say a year) the tables and queries are archived and relabled with <tablenameyear>/<querynameyear>, so that each query will pull the appropriate year's data. Can I pass a parameter to my reports that will tell the report which set of queries to use as the datasource? And can this be passed onto each subreport within the Parent report?

I don't know why it required that I do it this way, but it works.My report and 4 subreports used a total of 7 different tables (which were already defined in SQL database)I had to create all 7 tables in VB as follows

DB Connect: Infosource assignment problem

Dear Colleagues,
You have been always helpful when needed and I have always given credit to your help. So coming to problem I am facing now...
I am using BW 3.5 and MS SQL as a datasource.
DB connect is successful and now for doing extraction test, I have created one table in MS SQL and trying to load that table in BW. Created the DB source system, tested successfully, created Infosource and assign datasource to Infosource. Data target is also created. Till then everything is find.
Now while loading the data, in monitor it gives the error "No mapping available for DataSource 6DB_XXXX. Assign an InfoSource. Error in Source System". Whereas Datasource assignment to Infosource is created and activated successfully.
I search the entire forum, but did not get any proper solution for this.

Pankaj,
If you deleted and then made again an assignment it wouldn't help.
There is something wrong with your DS. You need to regenerate it again. For this you need to delete an IS-DS assignment first. After that you'll generate a DS again. Then make a replication.
Don't know why you couldn't see a replication option. Do you see something like "Select tables"?
And how did you create a DS?
