Assign event to multiple calendars
I use Outlook as my main calendar to track my family's activities and commitments, so I use categories for each of our family members. Frequently, events (i.e. no school days) involves more than one child, so in Outlook the partivular event receives more than one category. However, when that get synced over to iCal and subsequently iCloud, the first category listed is the calendar that event is saved to. How do I emulate what is being done in Outlook in the others without having to create an event for each person involved?

Is there a way to assign a calendar event to multiple calendars? Example, I have a work trip I would like on my work calendar and my family calendar so it will show on my wife's calendar/phone. I would like to assign the event to two calendars instead of creating two events, one for each calendar.
In week or month view, you have to tap and hold down on the date until you see New Event appear. You have to select the month before you can add an event - as gas as I can see anyway. In other words, you cannot tap and hold down on a date in year view and go directly to that day.

Is it possible to add one event to multiple calendars?
Example: I have a icloud calendar that i share with my wife and a exchange calendar for my work. When I'm traveling i want to add the event to my work calendar and to my shared calendar so my wife will remember that I'm traveling for certain days. What i'm doing right now is to add two events one to the shared calendar and one to my work calendar. Its just messing up the calendar view when i'm looking at it.
Is there anyway to get around this so its just showing one event but is showing up in multiple calendars if you choose just one to look at?Hi Robert,

Unfortunately, creating an event for "2 calendars in 1 shot" is not possible.
The best that you can do is "Copy/Paste" and change the calendar assignment for the second event. -
Merging events from multiple calendars into one calendar
I am using iCal version 2.0.5 on Mac OS 10.4.11.
Right now, there are 3 separate calendars setup in iCal: Personal, Home and Unfiled. What I would like to do is merge all of the events from these calendars into the Personal calendar and then delete the other two calendars (Home and Unfiled). Is there any trick to easily doing this?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Before you do anything else, use iCal>File>Back up Database..., and save the backup to your Desktop.
Then use iCal>File>Export... for the Calendars that you want to merge into "Personal", and then delete Home/Unfiled from your CALENDARS sources pane.
Next click on the exported copies on the Desktop and you will be presented with an "Add Events" window which will allow you to choose "Import" into the Personal Calendar.
If everything is working as desired use Back up Database... for the new setup.

No longer assign event to certain calendar when rt-clk
Hi everyone. I have been using a shared calendar called WORK with some friends who also have Iphones. It has been working great. Suddenly, I cannot assign an event to WORK anymore when on my Macbook Pro using Calendar. It always appeared before. Not sure I have tried to perform this action since I upgraded to Mountain Lion until now.
Btw, assigning from the Iphone shows no problems.
Below you see WORK showing fine on the Icloud website
Below you see WORK appearing fine as usual in the list on my Macbook's Calendar application but it is not available in the right-click menu anymore. It always always was before.Still very much a problem

Which calendar app do you use for multiple calendars?

Here's my situation: I am iPhone5S, iPad2 & MacBookPro13; DH is Droid& Dell and children are iPad Minis & Dell. Their PCs run Win7 & 8.
DH & I use Google calendar to organize our schedules. Now all 3 kids have Minis and I want to allow them to see their appointments and our goings-on for the week on their calendars (we homeschool).
I see that Apple doesn't allow you to assign one event to multiple calendars. For instance, DH & I need to know that Boy#3 has bball practice on Tues & Thurs nights but so does said child. So, ideally, I'd love to assign our main calendar that event AND the "Boys Calendar." Would even be cool for each kid to have his own calendar but I won't split hairs at this point.
Here's the rub: I don't want the kids to have access to our main calendar on Google. DH & I have finally got it down and coordinated and I don't want them screwing it up or seeing our events. Some of them are private and just between hubs and me, if you know what I mean. I'd like my kids to open up their calendar and only have appts on it that pertain to them and their week/month. And I'd like to be able to see it all - even if it means I see duplicate events on a given day which indicate that the event is on two different calendars. Sort of like the colors of iCal but with the ability for the kids to just see their colors.
Does anyone use a good app that allows you to pick which calendar to assign an event to, even multiple calendars? I tried Fantastical but it doesn't let me assign to different calendars. Any.do is a don't for me.
Would love any feedback on what you've used successfully to organize your family.

Kim in PhxRight? I know. This just seems utterly ridiculous to me in this day and age. Maybe I'm mistaken but I was under the impression that there has to be an app that does this for people. I mean, how hard can this be? I wonder if I just keep my main calendar and invite my kids to their events. I wonder if that will work? I really don't want to be creating three different calendars copying and pasting events and trying to juggle 4 different calendars. How cool would it be to have everybody assigned their own calendar and then the master calendar can decide who to assign the events to? Like in iCal when you go to assign the calendar, instead of having one option, you could have all the calendars as options. I have two boys to do karate together, one boy who does basketball alone, and one boy who does flag football alone. I'd love to put karate on the schedule and then just assign it to the two calendars of the boys who are taking tae kwon do now. Create one event and then you decide which calendars to list it on.
I'll keep looking to see if anything is out there but I'm not sure that it can cross both iOS and PC platforms.

I have an ipad2 and my question is about the calendar. I set up multiple calendars with different colors. Some of the events show up in filled color. Others only show with a colored dot in front of the event. I can't figure out why some show up one way and others show up differently? Any thoughts?
On mine the ones that show on a coloured background are all-day events, the ones with dots and just timed events.

Is there a way to put the same event on multiple icloud calendars?
Is there a way to put the same calendar entry on multiple calendars? I have five children and most of them use their iTouch to keep there calendar. My calendar is on icloud and I'd love it if they could see only their events but I need to see all of them. Many of the events affect more than one child.
As follow up to the above question, I am the person putting items on the calendars. I am not just trying to see calendars that they are maintaining.

Single Event / Multiple Calendars. Share All iCal At Once.....
Hi,
I would like to share my calendars with my partner - we are both iCal/iCloud users.
We would like a calendar that is for our own personal use, which is straight forward enough, but it would be great if single entries within that calendar can be added to multiple calendars, so an event could be added to 'personal' as well as 'projectX'. Is this possible?
Also, I use iCal for scheduling my work and individual projects - each project has it's own calendar. Is it possible for me to share all of those calenders wholesale without having to share each individual one?... essentially a single read only calender share so that my partner doesn't get the clutter of multiple calenders but get's the overall picture.

The values(EVENTS) would anyway appear if there are entries in the table on which you are creating the calendar for e.g.
EVENT-1 01-JAN-02
EVENT-1 02-JAN-02
EVENT-1 03-JAN-02
EVENT-2 04-JAN-02
Create the calendar and order by the date field and the data should appear ..
Pl. could you explain further what exactly you want to display.
You can also restrict the calendar display by using the start and end month option.

I have multiple calendars set up but not all are displaying in iOS 7 notification center. I just get a heading stating "there is one all-day event scheduled" in the tomorrow summary. Can't get it to show the details of the event. any ideas?

How to delete multiple Done events in a Calendar.
I've downloaded a fixtures calendar for a football season. (It's not a subscription, it's a calendar file). i've set preferences to delete events 1 day after they finish but old entries are still showing - as far back as 6 months. Is there a way to do a smart search or master delete that can delete all 'Done' events in a calendar? There are too many to keep selecting and deleting individually.

As Nanda said, just go to tcode SE03..Click Unlock Objects (Expert Tool)..Paste your TR number (one at a time) then click Unlock..
Go back to SE10 and delete your TR numbers..

My iPhones (2) and iPad list the following color-coded calendar names when the word "Calendar" is pressed at the bottom of the calendar screen: All iCloud (no colored dot), Calendar (Blue Dot), Home (orange Dot), Saved emails (red dot), and Saved emails (2)( green dot).
Calendar items created on both iPhones are coded with a blue dot and appear on a blue background in iCloud and on the phones. Calendar items created on my iPad appear on a green background (saved emails 2) on my iPad and my iphones. Why isn't the color "Blue"? It appears that entries made on Outlook appear in Saved Emails (red).
I have not imported or connected with any external calendars.
This behavior raises the following questions:
1) Should entries created on each device appear in a different color?
2) Does the color associated with an entry designate a specific device or a specific type of device?
3) Which device is the "Home" device referred to in paragraph 1 above?
4) Why would a Calendar be named with a reference to "saved emails"? From where would it come.
My understanding about synching with iCloud was that any entry from any iDevice (phone or pad) or iCloud would appear in both iCloud and in the calendars of all devices on the same Apple Account. Please confirm my understanding or correct it.
With iCloud as the hub, must I still utilize Microsoft Outlook? I am retired and no longer need Outlook for work.
Can I edit any calendar entry in I cloud had have it change it in all the devices, or must it be edited in the device in which the entry was originally made?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.I would ditch Outlook like a bad habit.
Now to answer your questions starting at the bottom. yes, you can edit any and all iCloud Calendars on iCloud.com. You can rename your calendars, re-color them, create, edit or delete events, etc.
So you asked a question on why your calendars are named 'saved emails'. This sounds like something that would be created from Outlook since you can send email to the calendar in Outlook. If you quit using outlook, you can simply rename the calendars to something more sensible or delete them entirely.
About calendar colors. Each calendar you (or your mail program on your behalf) has created gets assigned a name and color. Each color helps your identify which calendar and event belongs to. When you create a new event from your iOS device or iCloud.com, you will find a handy little section that says 'calendar' where you can specify to which calendar (or color) you want that event to be on. You will also find this option when tapping and editing and event on the iOS devices or icloud.com. If you want all of your devices to default to the same calendar when creating a new event, on your iOS devices go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Scroll to the section that says 'Calendar' in gray (its at the very bottom) and change the 'default calendar' to whatever you want the defualt to be. You can also change the default in iCloud.com by clicking the gear icon.
My recommendation: 1) Ditch Outlook. Go to your Control Panel > iCloud and uncheck Outlook. 2) Move all of your events to one or two calendars. if you don't have a need for multiple calendars, just simplify your life and move them all to one calendar. You can edit the event and change the calendar, then go back and delete the other calendars that are confusing you with all the different colors. You can rename, recolor, create and delete calendars form your iOS device by tapping calendar in the bottom of the screen when in the calendars app then tap edit in the top left. You can also do these same things on iCloud.com Where ever is easiest for you will work.
