Assign External Number to BP

Hi Experts.
We are using Standalone SRM.
In this how to assign external number to business partner.I have checked in BUT000 table for my Business partner, in this i can't get any external number assigned to business partner.
Please tell me how to assign external number to BP.

External number range means some external system provides number range for vendor other than EBP
Plz visit BUCF - tcode for BP no range. for eg you pulled same vendor number from r/3 to ebp and it must flag in srm as external.
also see this.cross apllication components->SAP business partners>Business partners>basic setting> number ranges and grouping>Define grouping and assign numbe ranges.
What is your master vendor database system ebp or some external system. if you create a vendors in srm then it is internal only .if you get a vendor from external system then only external possible.

hello friends,
can anyone help with this issue.in tcode 'vn01' we are assiging internal number range but we dont want that number range that is external number range rather than using internal number for sales document.i.e the number range should start with 'ufc'followed by some number range.

Hi Sirisha,
I believe you can assign external number range manually by using transaction SNRO and then assign the number range before entering into the main screen of VA01 or saving the document.
The number range is linked to the order type (VBAK-AUART), this is done in customizing.
For different sales area it need to have different number ranges for the same order type.
Please see that the same sales doument number should not be linked to several sales orders which are to be created,if I am not wrong

MWMK0001 - Assign external number to Storage Unit through MWMK0001

Hi all,
During Goods Issue, I need to set the SU number using an external numbering. In particular I need to set the SU number equal to the material batch number.
I've found the user-exits contained in MWMK0001, in order to do this. Unfortunately these user-exits don't contain any data regarding TO.
I've also seen the user-exits MWMTO003 but I need only to change SU number, not the destination storage bin too.
Is it possible to do this?

Check the data in the Transfer Order, the item (such as the quant number, storage bin or storage type) does not belong to the storage unit number that you entered.

Creation of HU in auto mode with external number range

Dear Experts,
         I'm stucking in a scenario related to HUM
There are two handling units -
1. Bag
2. Pallet
through T code HU02 , it's possible to create an HU and assign it internal generated number.
But as per our requirement , we want to assign the external number to the HU (which is barcode number of bag or pallet)
Can you pls let me know the process of assigning External number range to HU.
Also we want to create the HU automatically after GR in production (MIGO,101) , instead of manually via HU02.
Pls explin the process of creation of HU automatically also...

Check with FM BAPI_HU_PACK.For packing an item into HU.
For external number range you need configure external number range
SPRO>Logistics - General>Handling Unit Management>Basics>Technical Basics-->Define Number Ranges for Handling Units.
After GR for production you need to confighre internal number range for perticular packing material type then system will automatically pack and place in HU location.

i have given customer external number range
for ex, cna10000 to cnz9999 as i want to know customer by c, and n for north region and a for the alphabet, but system is allowing me to input
cnnnnn100, and other wise also,
how can i restrict that the system

If i understood your question correctly that U need to assign external number range with charecter + number .
If this is correct , then
1. Go to SPRO -- Logistic general -- busines partners - Customer -- control -
A. Define Account Groups and Field Selection for Customers :
copy your existing account group and in general data maintain A1 ( you can mention as per your logic ) .
B.Define and Assign Customer Number Ranges -
i. Maintain CNA1000 to CNA2000 and mark tick in External number range
ii. Assign Number Ranges to Account Groups : here you assign the number range against the account group.
Now , you can create customer number range between
CNA1000 to CNA2000.

BAPI PO creation by using External Number

Hi ,
I want to create Purchase order with some external number.By using BAPI_PO_CREATE1 i can able to create purchase orders but its generating system generated(internal) purchase order number.In Header Parameters i assigned external number even though system is created Purchase order with the internal number sequence.
Kindly give me the solution for this.

If you pass the BAPI header and headerx structures EBELN fields and the order type has been configured to use external reference numbers, then there should be no problem doing this. What happens if you try to create an order for the same order type in ME21N? Do you get a system generated order number or can you enter it yourself?

Bapi with external number range

i am using bapi_goodsmvt_create.i want to assign external number range.how it possible?

It depends on whether you have a service master or not.
1. If you have service master, then there will be a service number (just like a material number). You can use that identify which one has to be deleted.
2. If NOT, then they would still send the text for the Service lines (I guess this will be unique for each line item). So, you will have to identify the line to be deleted by that.

A question - You are saying you will get information to update the PO, but how does the system know which PO to be updated, how are you going to identify which PO needs to be changed?

External number range for Billing Document

Hi Gurus,
Can you please let me know how to get the external number for the invoices? I know there is no standard way but if there is a way around to determine it. And the external number should be first 2 places are alphanumeric and dynamic and the next 2 places are also alphanumeric but constant and the rest of the digits should be a serial number of length 7. So, the total length of the number range should be 11. Please let me know if there is way to determine it this way.
Example:
AB + HY + 1000001
CD + HY + 1000002
Like wise.....

hello, friend.
you can define your number ranges using VN01. in here, you can set up alpha numeric ranges and specify external.
technically, you can assign this set to the billing type using VOFA.
however, it is not best practice to assign external number ranges to billing types, as it is possible to 'jump' the sequence of the numbering. you do want to keep track of the sequence of billing docs.
a possible exception is if you have an external billing software which generates a number, which you will then capture in SAP. barring exceptions, it is best to retain internal assignment.

I have just checked and the measurement point number is linked directly with tthe object for eaxample equipment and when I tried this I got the same result the system defaults the number based ont he internal number range.
This being the case what is the business requirement that you need to use external numbering as this may help and someone may be able to assist either with an answer to the problem or an alternative solution.

Notes
As the numbers for measuring points are assigned internally, you should work with the standard settings. If you want to make changes, you should always use number range 01.

Reservation External Number

Hi,
I saw in the forum that it is impossible to assign external number range to reservation by customizing.
Is it possible to do it by a development?
In OMJK, I can see 2 other number ranges. What are they for? Isn't it possible to assign these ranges to reservation?
My customer is creating sales orders in another system. These sales orders are sent by interface to SAP and create reservations (we cannot use SD). Then the warehouse man will pick the reservation in SAP. I want him to find the reservation in reference to the external order number easily.
How shall I proceed if I cannot assign the external order number to the reservation number?

Here is not direct customization for adding fields in reservation, but try out the following user exit to achieve your requirement.
The enhancement MBCF0007 comprises a function module that is called up when you post a reservation with the transactions MB21 and MB22.
It makes the following reservation data available for further processing:
o TI_RKPF : Contains the current header data of the reservation
o TI_RESB_NEW : Contains items that have been newly created and changed
o TI_RESB_OLD : Contains all of the reservation items in their original status
o TI_DM07R : Contains additional data for the items (for example, short texts)

How to assign numbers in external number range?

Dear experts,
Since NUMBER_GET_NEXT can only be used to assign numbers in internal number range, how to assign numbers in external number range?
So far, I only know the NUMBER_CHECK function module to deal with external number ranges and it only check a number whether it lies in any external number range or not, but it doesn't update any number range status. What I need is a function module like NUMBER_GET_NEXT that supports external number range.

With external number range, there is no updating of the number range objectt. The only thing you need to know is whether the number you wish to assign is allowed according to the external number range. And also check if there isn't already an object/document with the same number in the database.

BATCH Management - External number

Hi
I am having a scenario where I need to activate the external number assignment for a batch in a specific plant. ( We do have around 50 plants)
Internal batch number and Automatic batch number assignment is activated at the client level. which is creating worries for me.
with activation of external numbers for batches , I do want to make this mandatory to put external batch at the time of MIGO for Raw materials and CO11N at the time of operation confirmation for finshed goods ( obvisously only for the materials having Batch management check activated in material master )

Thanks for the reply.But bro..as I mentioned before also , i caant do the changes mentioned by you as its used by other 10 plants for the same client.
I need to do this for a specific plant only , and We dont want to create batch manually , system should create batch number with external number range for the movement typr 101 ( for raw materials at the time of MIGO and for finished goods at the time of prod.order operation confirmation in CO11N).
