Assign PDS to Supply Chain Model

Hello APO folks:
I have successfully CIFed PDS over to APO (SCM 5.0), and checked it in transaction  /SAPAPO/CURTO_SIMU - Display Production Data Structures, Was wondering how do I allocate this PDS (PP/DS type) to my supply chain model in SCE.
Thank you in advance.
Mono

Hello Mono,
As I know there is no standard way in which you can copy the PDS data from one version to another for simulation in APO.
but, this can be achieved by using transfer of the PDS data to inactive version from R/3. i.e in transaction CURTO_CREATE by specifying the inactive version.
The second way can be by using BAPI_PDSSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI to save a new PDS by specifying the version field with the inactive version.
In this case one can fill the tables using report FUNCTION_LOADER_INLAY or can be filled manually.
for the first case, I do not know why you are facing the message "No Transfer Relevant Data found".
Please check whether you have specified the inactive version name which has been created for simulation in APO.
and also try to create a new production version in R/3 and use this for inactive version transfer.
As you observe Simulation version is unique across the models. and you cannot use the same version name in different models.
hence, only the version field exists in the CURTO_CREATE transaction.

Hemanth

  • PDS,PPM,supply chain model,production version in R/3

    Dear Guys,
can some one help me to find the key difference between
1)PDS,PPM,Supply chain Model and production version in R/3
    Thanks
    Raj

One major difference between PDS & PPM is that PPMs can be edited in APO whereas PDS cannot be modified in APO. Any changes required for PDS needs to be done to the relevant R/3 master data and then CIFed to APO.
    Choice PDS v/s PPM?
Functionally both are fine and can be used. However SAP recommends using PDS since it will not support any new enhancements for PPMs going forward. For some reason they want to encourage use of PDS rather than PPMs.

  • PDS are not displayed in supply chain model SCC07

    Hi,
Does anyone know if it is possible to add PDS to supply chain model (transaction SCC07)? currently i don't see this option (we are not using IPPE in the ECC).

    Hello,
You can not see PDS in SCC07. Note that PDS are not even part of the menu.
You can also see that the SAP Help does not mention PDS in the documentation of the Supply Chain Engineer (SCC07):

  • Supply chain modeling of subcontraction process using SNP

    Dear Experts,
I am in the phase of designing my  supply chain business process  in APO
    We have two plants
    Plant u2013 A (manufacturing )
    Plant u2013 B (distribution center)
    Subcontractors  - for Plant A
    Subcon-1
    Subcon-2
    Subcon-3
    Subcon-4
    Subcon-5
    Subcon-6
    Subcon-7
Demand planning /forecast is done on the basis of
    Customer
    Products
    And Plant
When forecast is done in demand planning an send to SNP , system must give planned order on the basis of  available capacity , low cost of production  of the my subcontractor  ,I believe I need to use SNP optimization
Does SNP Optimizer can serve my requirement
Also how do I need to define my subcontractor  either as DC location or just a MRP area
Please do not hesitate to ask more details if you are not clear my requirement
    Thanks & Regard
    Raj

    Hi Raju,
The Optimizer should serve your requirement as it considers the capacity constraints and can be used for finite planning. Regarding subcontracting location , you can map it as either a DC location or a Subcontractor location. Better way would be to map it as a subcontracting location. Mapping it as just MRP area would not serve as you want it to consider during the finite planning runs for optimizer.
Let me know if it helps

  • Sales Order Stock Configuration across the Supply Chain

    Dear Colleagues,
here's my query. This is more related to configuring Make To Order on R/3 Side.
As a Requirement, my client would want that across the supply chain, to trace the stocks relevant for a particular Sales Order. One way I came across was using Sales Order Stock.
The Product Flow Network is like :
    Plant > BSR > WH1 > WH2 > Invoicing Point.
    (- No Planned Movement Doc in Plant-BSR) > STO(B-W) > InterCo PO(W1-W2) > STO(W2-Inv. Point)
What I would like to know is that using MTO strategy and Sales Order Stock, how can we configure the following scenario?
    1. Sales Order is Created with Account Assignment
    2. InterCompany STO and InterPlant STO can be created with Account Assignment Category Type 'E' and reference to the Sales Order-Item No.
    3. Using STOs at BSR, Propogate the Demand to Plant, create a Planned Order with Account Assignment and Sales Order Reference.
    4. Production and subsequent GR to Sales Order Stock at BSR
    5. Subsqeuent Deliveries only against the Relevant STOs and GR to Sales Order Stock at all locations in the network.
I would like to highlight that the need for identification of linking SO to Production Order is only from the stage of SKU-production order at the plant to utpo final delivery from the Invoicing plant.

Typically MTO situation is better modeled in PPDS since it does pegging through the network. In SNP we typically do dynamic pegging and hence it will be difficult to link the sales order all the way to production order. Having said that SNP does take into account available resource for planning some of which could have been consumed by MTO orders. This perhaps may not be helpful to your scenario.
As I said dynamic pegging is done with SNP. So when you use SNP in the network, you can basically check the product view to see the supply-demand links. (/sapapo/rrp3) These links are indicative and you should be able to use them for tracing purposes.

  • SNP resource overload alerts not appearing in Supply Chain Cockpit

    I am using APO 5.1.
We use APO SNP for capacity planning, and can see various capacity overload alerts in the alert monitor.
But even though the Supply Chain Cockpit is linked to the correct alert profile, we do not see these alerts attached to the respective objects in the Supply Chain Cockpit.
Any ideas on why this should be?...

    Hello,
If you want to use the Alert Monitor within the Supply Chain Cockpit (SCC) in SAP APO, you must assign application-specific alert profiles to your SCC user profile. In the upper right area of the SCC, you can see the existing alerts for the applications.

  • Multilevel Supply Chain ATP

    Hi,
I like to understand the setup for checking inventory one step level up from 3 primary distribution center which currently configure for global avaliability, by customer region instance assignment set.
We collect data by planning output . We do have DRP plan .
How can I promise inventory to any of the PDC from the main org , which can transfer inventory to the Primary distribution centers?
Note: we do not want to source from main org to customer.
Ex: No product avaliable in any of the distribution centers. Main Org have sufficient product. If the customer place order for that particular product to any one of the PDC..Can I promise a date ( a week or so ) which includes the time to place a transfer order + lead time ?
What are the primary steps involved. Please explain ?

Today, any integrated system must include 'supply chain' as a part of the system. It has to have a 'chain link' to the extent of input suppliers & output customers, and beyond.

  • Use of Supply Chain Engineer

    Hi,
What's the use of Supply Chain Engineer (Tcode:/SAPAPO/SCC07)? Does the APO implementation project really needs it?
And let me know in which case do we generally use it.
    - Ram.

    Hi Ram,
This is fully integrated APO component for creating models
which performs planning functions which covers network
    chain, supplier, customer.
We can use this functionality to create & maintain models
in a network in a typical supply chain.   A model in turn can
link to various versions (both active and simulations).
We can also have an eye watch of supply chain elements
like various products, master data like lanes, quota, resources,
    ppm etc.,
We can also use this tool to execute queries so that it comes
    with information about individual data.

  • Supply chain alerts generated from external services

I am interested in having supply chain alerts generated from external services.
An example could be an alert based on predicted temperatures over the next few weeks, which would be of use to demand planners using SAP SCM.
So we would need an external service providing predicted temperatures, which could be modelled by the new SAP BPM tool to generate alerts for users.
Has anyone any experience of this?
    Thanks,
    Bob Austin, Atos Origin

    Hi,
I have been involved in the building of UI-layer where we used the ES provided from SAP as of the latest releases for DP. I would suggest that you have a look at these services as I assume the external application would be able to call APO DP and input the data using these services.
From a technical standpoint we had no problems to use the services provided from SAP. The only area where we ran into some issues was the authentification where we had to build some new web services to handle some customer-specific requirements. But I assume you would not even need these specific features in your scenario.
Have a look at this link to find all the detailed information:

  • Product deletion using supply chain engineer

    Hi all,
we need to delete a large number of products in APO. One way  to do it is
    1. delete all dependencies (master and transaction data)
    2. set deletion flag (using massd)
    3. run the programme /SAPAPO/DELETE_PRODUCTS
i just want to know if there is any way to delete large number of products using supply chain engineer? i have deleted dependencies and has set deletion flag but my client is insisting on deletion using supply chain engineer (god knows why)
does anyone know if this is possible? if yes, then please let me know how it can be done.

    Hi ,
    Yes correct.
If client insists, you can at the most use the SCE to delete the products from work area and model.
However for permanenet deletion you need to follow the steps you have given correctly given( last 2 out of 3 and first step 1 is required before you want to delete from the model).
I hope this will help to clarify.

  • Assign Source of supply is not working for contract with material group

    Dear Experts,
I have searched all the threads and gone through before posting my query. So i would ask moderators to go through the thread properly before rejecting this.
We have value contracts with respect to a particular material group without material and with item category W in the contract item, Please note that for the materials with this material group, the source determination is not set and source list is also not maintained.
When we create PR for the material with this contract, and when we click on assign source of supply contracts used to get popped up, but recently from few days, when we click on assign source of supply we are getting an error " no source found for this item ".
    Can anybody help on this.
    Regards

    @ Biju,
As mentioned earlier, we are not creating PR with reference to contract.
first we are creating contract with item category W (material group), without material and plant details.
we create PR with or without material with account assignment K and with the material group in the transaction ME51N, and after inputting all the fields, we click on assign source of supply, it was proposing the existing contracts with respect to material group earlier, but it is not happening for particular material group(it is working for all other material groups)
    Hope it is clear.
    @ Dev Patra,
we are using DIEN-Service material types and we assign that particular material group to only service material type.
we have not ticked, source list in the material master, we donot have any source list for the materials under that material group.( please check the note 457110- question number 14.)
