Assign remote roles with Federated portals

Hello all,
We're trying to implement a federated Portal network using the <i>"Implementing a Federated Portal Network" in Detail</i> document.
The steps that we have follow successfully are:
1. Connect to the user repository (Producer and Consumer).
2. Configure system settings (Producer and Consumer).
3. Define and Configure producers (consumer).
4. Set permisions (producer).
Now we want to assign remote roles to local users in <i>User Administration -> Proxy-to-remote Roles option.</i> But <i>Proxy-to-remote Roles</i> tab doesn't appear in the second level navigation...
We are working with EP7 SP10.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance

Maybe a clue: According to the Remote Role assigment question, We have a similar problem using the Remote content copy option.
In the consumer EP, Content Administration -> Portal Content, the Netweaver Content Producers contains the producer connection icon but it's empty. So, the content share can't be done...
Now... Any idea?
Thanks!

  • Can KM Document iView be used through Remote Role in Federated Portal?

I have a Producer Portal and a Consumer portal using Remote Role Assignment. In the same remote role, the KM Navigation iView is working fine, but the KM Document iView is giving http 400 error (The webpage cannot be found). I understand normally we should put KM on the consumer. But some of our KM document iViews are used in the roles in the BI portal, which is the producer.
I cannot find SAP document or notes that tells "If KM Document iView is supposed to work through Remote Role". If you could clarify for me, I will know if it's worthwhile to troubleshoot the issue.
    Thanks,
    Fubo Liu

    Hi Fubo,
There are no restrictions regarding the KM documents iView in the Central Note regarding FPN: [880482|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_ep_pin/~form/handler%7B5f4150503d3030323030363832353030303030303031393732265f4556454e543d444953504c4159265f4e4e554d3d383830343832%7D]
    So this should work fine.
    Best regards,

  • Last search might be inaccurate while assigning remote role

    Hi everyone,
I implemented a federated portal network containing 2 portal systems. Both of them consumers and also producers of eachother.
But I have a problem during the remote role assignment. When I try to assign a role of the producer portal to a user in consumer portal, I can't find the remote role although I can see it in Content administration. When I search the remote role, it gives the message "Last search might be inaccurate".
    Does anyone have an idea?

everything is fine . after that we have creaated 1 role in Fed portal .
we r able to find the role in consumer portal .
    now the thing is
we r trying to map the user with backend user from federated portals .. (user from LDAP)
i am unable to save usermapping credentials and getting following error too .... (no SSO for us here )

  • BW on HANA with Federated Portal?

    Hi Everyone,
We are running BW on HANA 7.3 with an ABAP only installation and we have a separate BW on DB2 instance. The BW on DB2 is linked to our Enterprise Portal and this supports BEx Web Queries and Templates but we would like to now enable Web Reporting (Queries and Templates) from the BW on HANA system.
What options do we have other than installing the JAVA stack on a separate system or upgrading to 7.4?
Can the HANA on BW system be linked to our Enterprise Portal so that it serves as a Federated Portal?
    Thank you in advance.
    Rushil

    Hi Rushil Naik
I remember reading some where that Java single stack and ABAP+JAVA dual stack are not supported by BW7.3 running on HANA.
Also heard about a concept called MCOD(Multiple components in one Data base).
Am not a pure BASIS guy, so cannot give you a concrete answer.

  • How to integrate PPM 5 with Federated Portal Network

    Hi experts,
If we are using PPM 5 standalone (without portal) and we want to include it into Federated Portal Network, which steps we have to follow to configurate PPM in the Federated Portal. Do we have to install stack java for PPM 5 at portal level or can we have PPM as producer without stack java in the consumer (federated portal).
    Thanks a lot,
    CAMILO URIBE

    Hi Camelo,
For PPM 5.0, you need only abap stack only. For the portal you will need java stack also.
Business packege need to be applied for PPM 5.0 and the necesarry settings need to be done in portal to access PPM through portal.
The federaed or non-fedarated option is for portal only and it will not impact the decison of accessing PPM through portal.

  • Assigning admin role with bulk action

Using IDM 6.0 SP1 on tomcat and oracle db
Using a csv file, I can update users with an admin role only if there are more than one admin roles (pipe delimited)
    CSV Header Row:
    Command,user,accounts[Lighthouse].adminRoles
    CSV Line One:
    Update,cramert,Administrator - Second Level Help Desk|Administrator - Security Desk|Administrator - Registration Authority
    CSV Line Two:
    Update,morrisom,Administrator - Registration Authority
The first update with multiple admin roles works - the second does not...
    Thanks,
    Mike K

Seems we have documentation on this one:
For a list with one value use:
    |List|Administrator - First Level Help Desk
For Merging one value to a List:
    |List;Merge|Administrator - First Level Help Desk

  • Federation, remote role assignment based on ABAP roles on producer

    Hi all,
We have implemented the federated portal solution for our ESS users. We use the ABAP stack of the producer portal as user store for consumer and have no problems in assigning portal roles on our consumer based on ABAP roles in the backend (displayed as groups in the portal).
Now we want to add some extra functionality (eg SRM and eRec) and we encounter some problems. These systems all have their own ABAP stack as user store. We have maintained the functional authorization model in the ABAP roles for instance in SRM. So an example:
    System I: ABAP + JAVA --> ECC 6.0
Here we have the standard R/3 functionality and the producer portal (A) installed. Roles created on producer portal and assigned based on ABAP roles.
System II: JAVA --> NW 7.0 Portal
Our consumer portal (B) where we use roles created on the producer portal (A) on System I.
System III: ABAP + JAVA --> SRM
Our SRM system with SRM producer portal (C). In the ABAP stack of this sytem the functional SRM roles have been assigned to the users. We have created functional SRM Portal roles in order to use remote role assignment on consumer portal (B).
    +PROBLEM+
We want to remotely assign portal roles created on the SRM Producer (C) to users on the consumer portal (B), based on the ABAP role assignment in the backend of system III. How can we achieve this in a fast and efficient way?
Looking forward to your ideas. Anything helpfull will be gladly awarded with SDN points.
    Best regards,
    Jan Laros

    Jan,
Interesting question. Let me share my experience and hope that's of some use to you.
We started off federating corporate NetWeaver Portal (lets say B, parallel to your convention) as consumers to BI Portals (Lets say A).
    - B's UME points to Active Directory
    - A's UME points to BI ABAP user store
    - User ids are identical in both systems
We ran into the problem of dual administration ((de)assigning portal role on both portals instead of just one) for a long time. The issue was because of different reasons at different times as we patched B's and A's. At one point we were on SP15 on both portals and we were told by SAP that RRA can be done on B for remote roles and the assignment propagates to A automatically if the following configuration is set up on both A and B.
    - A's permissions are relaxed allowing "Everyone" group checked for "End User" access as per ([http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/2236fc0b413fe1e10000000a11466f/content.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/2236fc0b413fe1e10000000a11466f/content.htm]
However, we chose not to do the permission relaxation as enabling "Everyone" group with "End User" access can allow anyone to launch an iView (if the URL is known somehow) and the user would be able to see the layout of the iView, which can include text, etc. The user won't be able to access any data though, however, there is certain compromise on security which we decided that its not okay. So, we digressed in SAP's suggested practice because of security reasons.
Today we, manage security on B using Active Directory groups and on A using Java groups (ABAP roles).
In your case, I suggest investigating the option of relaxing the security on producer portal like in the above link. If you think its okay, all you have to do is, provision users on B by assigning remote roles from C and A.
Either my story is applicable or I must have got you totally wrong,
    Kiran

  • Mapping SRM Portal roles with SRM backend roles

Using ABAP as UME when we create a user in SRM backend and assign backend roles, then corresponding portal roles should also get assigned to the
user so that portal roles are not to be assigned separately by portal admin.
Currently for the requirement I followed the following steps:
    1. To SAPJSF user in SRM backend assigned roles SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATIONand SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION_RO.
    2. Created a RFC SPML of type 'G'.
    3. Activated UME-SPML connection in SPRO.
    4. Then in PFCG for the role personalization assigned PCD path of portalrole.
But I am not able to achieve the requirement through the aforesaid steps.
    Please Guide.
    Regards,
    Gagandeep.

If you are using ABAP persistency for UME your ABAP roles should appear in the UME as groups. Just assign the portal roles you need to your ABAP roles/groups. Thats it,
    cheers

  • Using GRC in a Federated Portal Network

    Hi All,
We are usning a Federated Portal Network and would like to do Role provisioning through GRC.I know that GRC can do role provisioning in one single portal.
I would like to find out if it can be done in a Federated Portal Environment in which I have a Consumer and Producer Portal.
In Simple Terms - I would like to Assign a role that is present in the Producer Portal through the Consumer portal (This is called as Remote Role Assignment) using GRC.
Can anyone please help me with this.
Any thoughts will be very helpful.
    Best Regards,
    Vivek

    Hi Vivek,
I have worked with CUP and EP and it works fine. I have not used CUP with Federated Portal so I don't have idea about this. It seems it will act something like CUA for EP. Am I correct?
CUP works with CUA but for that, it has to bec configured for CUA. I don't see any separate configuration for Federate Portal. Can you open a Customer message with SAP about this?
I doubt this will work but it is worth a try. Please let me know about the outcome.

  • Federated Portal Network - probelm

    hi all,
I'm working on Federated Portal Network. I've this problem. I tried to assign remote role to portal user (consumer). But i'm not able to see any roles in the Remote producer.
Also, there is no workset called "Proxy-to-remote-roles" in User Administration Role. I'm running Sneak Preview SP09 version of NW04s Portal Server.
    Kindly help.
    Regards
    Ak.

    hi,
I've understood the presentation and the concept behind the FPN process... But my problem is A WORKSET IS MISSING. If you look at the first video file you gave, the author goes to this workset called <b>"Proxy-to-remote-roles"</b> in the Role USER ADMINISTRATION. This workset is completely missing. This is used to access the roles on the producer from consumer.
I face the same problem in both Sneak Preview SP09 and also in full version of EP70 in NW04s.
Without this, i can't proceed with federation... Is there any other workaround? Is there any solution for this one?

  • Permission problems in Federated Portal Setup

    Hello SDNers,
I am trying to setup Federation between two portals. Both the portals are in the same domain and use the same LDAP user data source.
Both the portals are on NW 7.0 EHP1 SP 05.
I am following the online help and few other links. I have followed all the steps explained.
SSO and trust between portals is properly setup and is validated.
The point where I am stuck at is with the permissions on the producer portal for the "Guest" user.
If I assign Super Admin role to the Guest user in the producer portal, every thing works fine. I can see the roles in Consumer portal for Remote Role Assignment and also I am able to do Remote Delta Links.
However, this is not anticipated. (We cannot assign super admin to Guest user)
If I remove the Super Admin role to the Guest user in the producer portal, every thing breaks - I cannot see the remote roles from Consumer portal, I cannot see any content under Netweaver Content Producers for the given producer.
I have given "Everyone" group - read access to everything below "Portal Content" folder both on producer and consumer portals.
PCD_Service user is assigned the actions Remote_Producer_Write_Access and Remote_Producer_Read_Access in both portals.
    Log says:

SOAP Fault Exception (Actor SAPEPP) com.sapportals.portal.prt.service.soap.exception.SoapFaultHandler] : The User Authentification is not correct to access to the Portal Service com.sap.portal.prt.soap.Bridge or the service was not found.
    My Questions are:
    1. What does Guest user have to do in the whole process - Where it is exactly used ?
    2. How can I give Guest user the required permissions (especially to portal service com.sap.portal.prt.soap.Bridge) ?
    Please suggest.

    Thank you for your answers.
    Vaibhav -
I have checked the "End User" option for Everyone group in producer portal.
How do I assign security zones permission to Everyone group ?
Can you please throw some light in that area.
    Dao -
I do not want to use the Guest user any where.
However, internally some how the "Guest" user is being used for communication between producer and consumer.
Also, the Guest user we are talking about is the one on the producer portal (not on consumer)
How can I make use of a different user for FPN purposes and make sure that it has access to all the FPN related services on the producer ?
Once again - to emphasize -
If I assign super admin role to Guest user on producer portal - every thing works fine (RRA and RDL)
If I remove the super admin role to Guest user on producer portal - neither RRA nor RDL will work.
    Kindly suggest.
Thank You once again for your time.

  • Guest User permission for Federated portal setup
