"Assign To Desktop" removed from apps in dock

I have two external monitors added to my iMac late 2012, via thunderbolt - hdmi.
A couple of days ago, i used to be able to:
Right click on app (e.g. spotify) and under "options" click on "Assign to Desktop (1,2,3)" and clicking that would show spotify on the desired desktop.
All of a sudden this option has gone, and now when i am not using the third monitor (which is a projector) i can't get an app on that desktop 3 to move to desktop 1 at the click of a button, i have to boot up the projector and drag it across to the required desktop.
This also falls in with a problem i started to experience with VLC.
In VLC going into fullscreen caused the rest of my monitors to blank out (which has it's pro's and con's). I found a way in VLC to enable and disable this, so that if i was getting into bed, i could blank all screens but the projector and watch a movie, OR if im working not blank all screens so i can work on my imac and watch the movie on another monitor.
But now going full screen in a movie, causes the other monitors to remain UN-blanked.
Both issues started happening at the same time and im not sure why

Not entirely clear what you are seeing. Are you saying you no longer have the file action bar at the top of the screen, or you have it, but your apps do not display when you tap the icon on the far right?
If it is the former, tap anywhere on the document to display it.
If it is the latter, try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
The functionality is still there. I have over two dozen apps available for handling PDFs that show up in mine.

I have extensively searched for and tried practically every money management app out there to replace it. I had major problems with PocketMoney & iOS 8, but subsequent updates to 8 have corrected that. I only experience a crash when switching accounts, which I have come to expect. I even bought a high-end version of Quicken only to abandon it, and its companion iOS app. Quicken does things its own way and you waste too much time trying to get data imported and usable the way you want it.
I still use PocketMoney every day, but also use MoneyWiz by Silerwiz. I was a beta tester for their upcoming V2. There are still a lot of things that only PocketMoney has, like classes and posting future transactions in gray so you will see your cash flow (mine is set for 61 days out), and syncing between devices with images included. However, the company behind MoneyWiz takes their product very seriously and I think it will be around for a long time. Eventually an iOS update will make PocketMoney unusable. If you can get your data out of PocketMoney, MoneyWiz has instructions for importing the data and it comes over very well.
I keep hoping a software company will see the value of PocketMoney, buy it and bring it back. My guess is that Catamount is technically owned by his estate, and would be of value to his family to sell.
The best advice is to backup frequently with the iTunes desktop software. I trust a wired connection more than than WiFi.

Ask the app developer. Maybe they will tell you why... Apple will not disclose the reason to you unless you are the developer. It's entirely possible that the developer removed it.

Sometimes there is a message "Waiting" under the app icon and when I click remove happen nothing! Maybe it trying update.

If you plug your phone into your computer, you might be able to remove the app from there. Click your phone on the top right, then click Apps in the top bar. Find that app and see if you can delete it on that screen. Click apply on bottom.

Week Cal HD app removed from App Store because it is too similar to the build in calendar - what is your take?

Apple apparently removed the Week Cal HD app from the App Store becuase it is too similar to the build in calendar app. I loved that app and am really annoyed that Apple removes an app I paid for, thus making it impossible for the developer to post an update that would allow it to work under OS5. I just posted this email below to their support but would love to hear what others are thinking about this issue and hopefully enough people raise their voice to get apple to allow the app back into the store. Here is my email to customer support. I will post also any reply I get Apple:

I have purchased Week Cal HD a while back via the App Store. This app stopped working after I upgraded to OS5 and I have been waiting for a new version that supports it. Since no update was posted until now I contacted the developer and have been informed that Apple has removed the app from the app store, claiming it has too many similarities with the build in calendar application.
I find this very unfortunate as the app as a few key features the build in calender application doesn't have (ability to set first day of the week to Monday, better looking UI). I actually find it deeply troubeling that Apple decides to effectively take away an app a customer has purchased through Apple. I find the argument that it has been removed because it is too similar to the build in calendar highly disingenious as a) this was already the case when Apple first sold it through the app store and b) it doesn't harm Apple's business as the build in calendar app is an OS feature and not a separate revenue stream. So what if it is similar? It does something the build in software doesn't and I paid to access this software knowing that it is a product that provides similar funcitonality. Quiet frankly I loved Week Cal HD because of these subtle differences and I cringe every time I now have to use the build in calendar (I find it unbelieveable that a company with the design ethos of Apple, that is capable of developing such stunning modern hardware, creates a calendar app that is so inflexible and has a UI that is in such bad taste - do you really think I want a simulated paper feel on my futuristic IPad?).
I very much encourage you to allow the sale of Week Cal HD through the App store again or provide me with a reason why Apple decided to effectively take away a software I paid for?

And i think with further digging you will discover that the developer has had a revised app for many many months ready but its been blocked by apple. Also these similar features that are causing the fuss first existed on week cal hd, not the other way around, sovthis is just usual apple style, and its a bigger shame that they could not even exucute it properly, instead we are stuck withva calendar that cant be used for business unless all you want to do is keep track of birthdays and your lunch breaks ....

Are apps removed from app store when DPS contract expires?

My company is debating on whether to renew our DPS contract and the question has come up whether or not once our contract expires, will the apps we've created so far using DPS be removed from the app store since we would no longer be subscribing to their services? Or will they still be available for purchase on the app store?

canceled. If they're Single Edition you're okay. If they're

Application which was removed from MacBook Pro Dock will not open. Why?

I dragged the Photoshop Elements (PSE) 11 Editor icon from the Dock on my MacBook Pro (Mavericks) because I had recently installed PSE 13. I still wanted to keep the version 11 Editor but not in the Dock. It dissolved in a puff of smoke as expected. When I went to Launchpad and the Applications folder in the Dock, PSE 11 Editor would not open. There was a question mark over PSE 11 Editor icon in Launchpad. The error message was that there were parts missing and I should reinstall it. When I go to Finder > Applications and click on PSE 11, where the icon used to be is a blank icon. It is named "Alias." When I click on the icon, the error message is "The operation can't be completed because the original item for "Adobe Photoshop Element 11" can't be found." I then when back to Launchpad and opened the PSE 11 Organizer icon. After it opened it, I opened the PSE 11 Editor from the Organizer. The Editor was fine and was functional. I then saved it to the Dock. I went back to Finder and the PSE 11 Editor is still not available. What the heck is going on??? I would like to be able to remove Apps from the Dock and still be able to open them from Launchpad or the Applications Folder. HELP!

Yes, sometimes that's all it takes. It's usually a matter of finding the original application nor the alias.
I'm still suspicious of Adobe since they seem to be going the way of Microsoft. If you muck about w/ the folders the application often stops working:
"___ __ cannot open because elements are missing from the application folder".

Focusing a window and removing from app bar

I am using snoozesoft systray4j to have my application have a systemtray icon.
I want that when I minimize the application it goes away from the application bar and when I click on a button on the systemtray it focus the entire window.
So I would like to know if is possible to remove (and the add again) the application from the app bar...
About the focusing I am talking of the complete window focus, is it possible?

Mailpro app should be removed from app store:

I installed MailPro (paid for it) and have tried to contact the developer regarding issues I have had. I get no answer, nothing, nada... I can't get my contacts to work with this app, the contact wheel just spins and spins and spins. I have had nothing but problems with this app, and no support. Apple needs to pull this app and all the other associated hotmail apps from the app store.

If it has a cloud icon it means its no longer on your device. Tapping on the cloud will effectively reinstall the App from scratch to your device.
There is no way to remove it from the cloud because its not yours to remove from there. Its the general App repository, you are just given access to it to download content you've already purchased.

Thanks for the response gakker, but I've double-checked the camera / iPhoto / Image Capture scenario, and I'm 100% positive it's got nothing to do with that.
Plugging in my iPhone has no effect on anything related to this.
The other thing I should have mentioned is that when iTunes on my Mac is NOT running, then nothing happens on my iPhone screen when I plug it in to my Mac. I only get the "Sync in progress" message when iTunes IS running.
It's interesting though that you say you also get this "Sync in progress" message, albeit only for a second or two though.
Can I just double-check something with you however... When you say:

do you mean the iTunes on your Mac? Because the problem I have is that the iPod-playback on my iPhone is interrupted.
So can you clarify that for me, please? If you have music playing on your iPhone, and you then plug your iPhone into your Mac when iTunes is running on your Mac, does the music playback on the iPhone get interrupted?
