Assigning a Dynamic Variable

Dear Gurus
I want to ask about next code section. On ECC 6, the next statement is working out fine, but somehow, it's giving a short dump in 4.6c, because the second line(ASSIGN statement) is giving out SY-SUBRC = 4. and l_value is trying to access <fvalu> which is not assigned properly(or so they say in the dump).
      wa_Data-ebeln = '1000000000'.
      g_String = 'WA_DATA-EBELN'.
      ASSIGN (g_string) TO <fvalu>.
      l_value = <fvalu>.
Can anybody help to tell me what's wrong with the code? I am trying to get the value of WA_DATA-EBELN based on the field string 'WA_DATA-EBELN'. I am expecting l_value's value to be 1000000000. Is there any other way to do this kind of thing? (4.6c environment)

Sorry for the double-post, I didn't quite get that you wanted to read the Time Period dimension.
Is that what you are trying to do? Get a list of the periods (usually these are pretty well known) and then find the latest one for a given member combination that has data and then set a substitution variable off of that?
You can run reports (or DATAEXPORT calc command) to get data from MaxL.
Or are you trying to do something else?

IMPORT statement with dynamic variable

Friends, Need Help!!!!!!!
Im trying IMPORT variable contents from a cluster table VARI. I can do a IMPORT without issues when I use exact name of the variable but I have issues with dynamic variable selection. Pls see code below.
loop at objects.
assign objects-name to <fs>.
IMPORT <fs> to tmp_var from database vari(va) id st_key.
endloop.
I do not get any value to tmp_var. Need help!

Dynamic variable value based on a value from xml

I have a invoice template and it is for 4 different companies in my organization. Based on the organization I need to have a different value for a variable that adds blank lines to the end of the invoice. Is there anyway to assign a value to variable based on the value of a xml tag.

I should have explained better before. I have one invoice template and we want to keep it one template for all companies. Each invoice is run individually, each companies footer is different, I am calling multiple headers and footers based on each company. Since the headers and footers are different I need to be able to add different amounts of lines and the end of each invoice depending on that company. I have accounted for the page break in my logic based on the amount lines the page is long. I just need a dynamic variable that I can assign different values on the fly.

I had created a Dialog text using transaction SE61 that contains a dynamic variable
Data Sheet not printed for Sales Order Number &WA_OUTPUT-VBELV&
This diagonose object i am calling in function module POPUP_TO_CONFORM
like

But the issue while calling the function module i am not getting the dynamic variable &WA_OUTPUT-VBELV&
in the display is it showing like the following

Yes I've understood what you mean
When I've spoken about sapscript and driven program, I means the sapscript and program manage the long text (dialog text created by SE61).
In your situation those elements are not used, because the text is directly shown on popup, so the variable inserted in the text (it's usually defined in the main program) has to assigned the PARAMETER table ( I thought you defined the variable in the program calling popup).
So try this:
PARAMETER-PARAM = WA_OUTPUT-VBELV.
PARAMETER-VALUE = <document number>.

How to move a dynamic variable to a FIELD-SYMBOL

Hello:
i would like to ask a favor i have been trying to move a dynamic variable to a FIELD-SYMBOL but, when i compile the programm it send a error message that say 'error with assign'.
The FS is declared like this
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <dyn_table> TYPE STANDARD TABLE, <dyn_wa>.
and then there is a PERFORM that send a dynamic varible and then this variable is asigned to the <dyn_table> and after of this one variable is created like this CREATE DATA wa_dynamic LIKE LINE OF <dyn_table>.
and finalilly there is a sentences where i trying to send the wa_dynamic to the <dyn_wa>.
here is where the error appear.
if you have any tips for this problem i will appreciate.

You don't have the session.
All you have is HTTP.
The only way to communicate from the client to the server is via an HTTP request. The only way to send a value like that is with a parameter.
Using a form with method="submit" as mentioned will pass the parameters without displaying them in the url bar (is that what you wanted?)

I have a need, can i know how to assign a dynamic value to the value property of a button. Scenario is like follows...
This is a struts based web application
1. I have a file which consists of login user details (user name and his previlages) for a web application.
2. I got those user details, into a List.
3. When a user logged into the web app, in the home page there are few buttons. The type and number of buttons shown depends on the type of user/ user. (Buttons have different combination and the number of buttons available are not constant, they will vary from user to user).
4. for each button, there will be a different action. I can pass the value of a button to an action class, but here button must have a dynamic value.
Here is my test code:

But my problem is how to assign a dynamic value to the value property of the button ( i know 'value= "<%=List[i]%>" ' will not work, just wanted show you guys).

Let me try i know am not good at JSP but do we need double quotes here
value= <%=List%>i think JSTL should help you about the dynamic thing

Here's another suggestion for you.
BSP Application: SBSPEXT_HTMLB
Check out the radionbuttongroup.bsp
So then instead of using a standard HTML radio buttons you can use the HTMLB element with the parameter for onClick set then in your DO_HANDLE_EVENT you can read the value.

There is an example of how to use it and read it in the DO_HANDLE_EVENT you then just have to pass the variable around (in this example the variable name is schalter and is defined as char1 in the class)

Assigning Value to Variable in Sapscript

To initialized value of the variable when I tried to assign 0 to variable (like in the following statement) it comes up with error 'Command Expected'.

Please let me know where and what I am doing wrong in assigning value to a variable?

Still its not working. The statement I am writing is
/: &NET& = &RF140-WRSHB& - &RF140-MSATZ&
but the system gives error on that.
NET is the local variable declared with Define statement and both the others are defined in print program.
Even I tried
/: &RF140-ZALBT& = &RF140-WRSHB& - &RF140-MSATZ&
but still the same error.
Any comments?

varialbeYou can't. JSP is server-side and JavaScript is client-side. The JSP variables are never available on the client side for any sort of assignment.

All the information you described points to the problem that reports seems can't generate to a file which already exist. You can verify that by simply doing
r30run32 C:\AC_REPORT.REP DESTYPE = FILE DESFORMAT = PDF BATCH = YES' desname=c:\temp\ac_report.pdf
several times. If first time the report is successfully generated in c:\temp\ac_report.pdf, but not the second, third time, then it looks like there is a bug on reports r30run32 executable.
You may try to find any latest patch for Reports 3.0 to see if patch can solve you problem. But keep in mind Reports 3.0 is de-supported, you are better to move to 6i or 9i reports.

Binding dynamic variable in XQuery doesn't work: ORA-00932

I have a table with several columns. One of those columns is a XMLType.
My goal is to have a query which selects rows from the table of which the XML column matches certain criteria.

First, I created my own query, which looks like:
select * from MyTable t, XMLTABLE( xmlnamespaces (DEFAULT 'http://test), 'for $i in /RootElement where $i/SubElement[contains(Element, "someValue")] return "true"' passing t.xmlColumn)This works as expected. Next, as done in the example, I'm trying to replace the "someValue" with a dynamic variable.
Query then looks like:
select * from MyTable t, XMLTABLE( xmlnamespaces (DEFAULT 'http://test), 'for $i in /RootElement where $i/SubElement[contains(Element, $val)] return "true"' passing t.xmlColumn, :1 as "val")This does not seem to work, neither in SQLDeveloper nor in java.
I always get the :
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CHAR(SQLDeveloper just gives ORA-00932)
When I put $val between quotes (so "$val") then I get no error, but then I get no results either.
I think it will not replace $val in that case but just use it as a literal, so thats not what I want
I also tried to remove "contains" xpath and use the exact same example as on the oracle page

Ok, I tested it using the latest enterprise edition (11g) and there it works as expected.
However, on 10.2.0.1.0 and 10.2.0.3.0 it gives this error.
Is this a bug which has been fixed or should I do something special on 10g ?
I installed all of these as normal without any special settings, created the tables and ran the query...

How do I use a dynamic variable from a prolog script?

I have my test broken in to three scripts, a login, an update, and a logout. There is a dynamic variable, SERVICE_VIRTUAL_CLIENT, from the login script that I need to use in the update script, but I can't figure out how to do it. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the login script is only run in the prolog portion of the UDP.

You would do this the same way you would in a stand-alone script. Create the variable pattern in the login in script and name the variable. Save the login script and open the other script and select the parameter where you need the value. Set the parameter value to {{variableNameFromLogin}} (Variables are transferred from one script to the next in a UDP).
