Assigning a profile ...

I think that there are two different relationships between an image and a color space ... embedding and assigning.
What is the difference between these two things?
There are no shortage of articles on the Internet trying to explain the subject by some analogies, but I could not see any direct response and could not understand ... maybe, because it is a little bit late time here now )
Thanks a lot ...

Assigning a profile is a process used to provide it's (hopefully correct) color space. Once done, that profile is embedded into the document.
Here's my very old analogy of why we need to assign profiles (and embed them):
Here’s a metaphor for a color space: suppose I supply a recipe for chocolate chip cookies but do not provide the unit for each ingredient in the recipe. The recipe provides each ingredient followed by a number. Without units you can’t make the cookies. The numbers alone are not enough information to describe how the cookies will be produced. Likewise, R78/G103/B23 or C23/M98/M123/K6 is not enough information to reproduce that color.
Going back to the chocolate chip cookie analogy, suppose a color model is a cookie recipe with only three ingredients. I give you this recipe, which simply calls for 1-flour, 8-butter and 2-chocolate chips. You don’t have enough information to make the cookies. However if I provide you the recipe with a specific scale—1 cup of flour, 8 tablespoons of butter, and 2 cups of chocolate chips—I’ve provided the necessary information, the scale, to make a dozen chocolate chip cookies. I can give you the cookie recipe in the metric scale such as liters and grams and you can still makes the same cookies even though the numbers are different. A color space is a color model that has a known reference and scale, in this case primaries (the ingredients, in this case RG and B) and scale (specific quantities of these ingredients).
Suppose I specify a color as R10/G130/B50 and specify a color reference by saying the color space is Adobe RGB (1998), which defines the scale of the RGB primaries; the color coordinates of this color space. The R10/G130/B50 set of numbers can now reproduce a color by anyone with the proper tools since the reference and scale have been defined. Different RGB color spaces use a different scale of red, green, and blue primaries. Adobe RGB (1998) and sRGB are different color spaces, however both are based on the RGB color model using RGB primaries. Although each color space uses the same three primary ingredients (R, G, and B), the specific colorimetric scale of each color space is different. The maximum of red, green, and blue are more saturated in the Adobe RGB (1998) color space than the sRGB color space. Even though R0/G255/B0 is the greenest green ingredient in both Adobe RGB (1998) and sRGB, knowing that the scale is different in both color spaces explains why this green value is more saturated in Adobe RGB (1998). This also illustrates how R0/G255/B0 alone can’t tell us what green.
An ICC profile simply defines this scale and gives the numbers a meaning allowing us to reproduce the color using something far more concrete than using the English word "Green" or a set of numbers which alone is far too ambiguous to produce a specific color appearance.
So R255 in Adobe RGB (1998) and R255 in sRGB share the same numbers but have a different scale. When you assign a color space to either number, you’re telling Photoshop the scale, it’s updating it’s preview and showing you this (correct or not, you’ve defined the scale so Photoshop believes you). The number hasn’t changed the color appearance has. Now you know why.

  • How to assign status profile to components in service order

    Hi,
For my business requirement, I want to assign status to individual components planned in the service order. Even though there is a status button on the component tab, there is no config where I can assign the status profile. We can only assign status profile to the order header and the operations and not to components level.
As SAP has provided the status button in the component tab, I am hoping that there is a way to assign the status to the parts planned.
    Your help is much appreciated.

    hi all,
It will be helpful if you give any useful tips on maintaining status for the component level in the service order.

  • How to assign status profile to marketing campaign ?

    Dear Friends,
I am working on Marketing Campaign (SAP CRM 4.0) : I want to customize a new status profile for campaign. I create a new one and I don't know where I assign it to camapign : I searched in SDN and I found a message : "to assign status profile, you have to do when you customize campaign type : Marketing -> Marketing Planning and Campaign Management -> Basic Data -> Define Campaign Types/Objectives/Tactics : in this customizing point, when you define campaign type, here is a status profile field".
The problem is I did not find any "status profile" field in this customizing point.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
Pls follow below said path to create User Status profile
CRM--> Marketing > Marketing Planning and Campaign Management> General Setting --> Change Status Profile for User Status
Once you create Status profile you can see the same in the profile field of Campaign. You will have to assign this profile in the campaign then you can see the statusses in Change Status field,. But these stausses can not over write the system statusses.
    Hope this will help..

  • Assign User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users

    Hi EM Gurus,
Has anyone worked with not standard scenarios in SCEM?
They are working well but I can't access them on interface web.
In selection page (search page after logon), where choose tracking scenarios, only standard scenarios appear although I have assigned both scenarios to the user and made same configuration; Assigned and Defined Web Interface Transactions, Configured Fields for User Profiles, Defined User Profiles, Assigned User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users.
But only Standard Scenarios appear as choice of tracking scenarios that are displayed to the user as a dropdown box on the selection screen after logging on to the Web interface.
Has anyone accessed not standard scenarios on interface web??
    Help, please!
    Thanks a lot.
    Rodrigo Freitas

    Hello Rodrigo,
if you have assigned the scenarios to your user in transaction /SAPTRX/UCUSER you must go to the admin page and reload the profile manager.
/admin in the URL of the WCL instead /ehsearch.
Afterwards you should see them also in the drop-down box.
    Best regards,

  • Assigning DIP profile in Sales order

    Hi all,
Here I had a strange issue. I want to assign DIP profile in my Sales order to create DP91. The box for assigning DIP profile ( Control of Resource-related Billing and Creation of Quotations) under SalesB tab of item data is disappearing in specific case.
Sometimes it is appearing and some other times it is not. I am not able to catch the difference. Can anyone please suggest me on this.
    Ratna

    Hi Prakash,
Thank you for your answer. My item cat is TAO and schedule line is CD. By default I am not using any requirement type (leaving the field as blank) as my case is service related. In that case I am not getting the above said box. But when I attach KE or any other requirement type manually in sales order under procurement tab, then that box is coming where I can attach my DIP. But why should I give requirement type as I am using material type as DIEN (service)? Where is the linke between requirement type and that box? This is just my analysis. May be I am going in wrong way (but my foundings are correct).
    Can you suggest me please.

  • Assigning the profile to a blade server using script

I had a UCS workshop this morning with one of my clients, and he asked me if there is any way to develop a script to remove the profle from one of the blades and re-assign another profile to the same blade.
Thanks for your input in advance!

    Should be possible.
Have a look into some of the scripts available on the Cisco Developer Network, which utilize the APIs of UCS:
Examples (login may be required to download):

  • Assigned color profile won't stick

I have documents I need to send to China for production and their assigned color profile doesn't seem to be saving. Under the "edit" menu I've selected "Assign Profile" and checked "working CMYK". Then I save and close my document. When I reopen the document to double check it's color assignment I find that half the time the file has returned to "don't color manage". I'm not doing anything differently but I keep getting different results.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Christy

    Hi,
I just want to sympathise with the China/Printer issue.
Most of my artwork goes over there and I want to rip my hair out with every new job. Steve is right that we as artists really should go by the printer's specs, but when dealing with a language barrier, not to mention a 12 hour time difference it's so far been imposssible for me to do. I keep a Pantone color picker at my desk and manually enter in the CMYK values. It doesn't always work though.
About your problem, the only thing I can think of is that you have images in your file that were RBG when placed in your file. It might not be what's going on, but something to check anyway.
    Good luck,
    Cherie

  • PhotoShop Elements 7 Assigning ICC Profiles

  • Assigning monitor profiles

I use a Mac Pro with the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT graphics card. I use two Apple monitors: a 20 inch Cinema (aluminum frame) and a 20 inch Apple Cinema Display (plastic frame). The aluminum frame monitor is the "main monitor." Using the Huey Pro calibrator I can match the monitors very well. However, the Huey profiles do not "stick" to their respective monitors. That is, on a reboot or an ambient light correction it is very likely that one or both monitors will suddenly use the incorrect profile. The Huey people cannot help; they say it doesn't happen for them.
The only unusual aspect of my system is that the older monitor is connected and powered via the Apple ADC to DVI adaptor. Might this affect the assignment of profiles, given that it does some digital signal processing?
I'm happy with the Huey profiles. Can anyone suggest a way that I can specifically assign a given profile to a given monitor?

if you want to use the ambient light feature it will be kind of hard but if not then the easiest way for me is to just calibrate each monitor separately and name the profile specifically for each monitor then I drag the new profiles from the "user > library > colorsync > profiles" folder where they are saved to the desktop then I turn huey off under the "accounts > login items" preference pane so it won't load at startup. This also gets rid of the huey icon in your menu bar after a reboot.
After I reboot I then drag the profiles from the desktop back to the profiles folder, I then open my display preferences pane and select the profiles for each monitor. I've tried it without dragging the profiles to the desktop first but if you do that and remove huey from the login items it always removed the profiles as well for some reason. Huey is stubborn...

  • Assigning Authorisation profile to roles

    Hi All,
I have created a new authorisation profile by copying from the standard profile and activated the same, I have created a role using  PFCG and assigned it to the user via SU01, but still the user has not  got the required authorisations.
When i try to assign this  profile to the role via PFCG, i am not able to assign
Either i have to select  the  transactions from the menu tab and the  system is creating  new authorisation profile and  assigning it to the user,
can anybody  help me out in assigning the  authorisation profile to the  roles
    Regards
    Venkat

    Hi Venkatesh,
Short of performing an upgrade step via SU25 to convert the profile to a role (which you really don't want to do!), you can't do this to the best of my knowledge.
PFCG is called profile generator because it creates the profiles for you based on what you enter into the menu tab and the corresponding auth values that you maintain within the role via PFCG.
I strongly recommend that you build a role via PFCG and create it with the right combination of menu transactions and auth values.  You can then assign this to the user.  This is the standard way of maintaining authorisations now.
Alternatively you can assign the profile you have created to the user, however if the role build is role based, I would not recommend this approach at all.
