Assigning a ringtone to group contacts

I want to be able to set my group contacts to one ringtone. Does anyone have a suggestion of an app or technique to do this besides going into my contacts and individually setting up the ringtone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for this post. This idea is very important. I have assigned specific music ringtones to a few people so that I know immediately who's calling without having to pick up the phone. Having the ability to apply the same principle to groups would be a terrific improvement. In a previous phone I had, there was the option to assign a particular ring to all the people in my address book. I'll definitely use the suggestion link given above to put in my 2 cents and ask Apple for the improvement.

  • How to assign specific ringtone to specific contact?

This is probably a n00b question, but is there any way to assign a specific ringtone to a specific contact?  I just switched from an LG Lotus, where I was able to give each contact a specific ringtone.  I'd love to be able to do that with my Style...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Go to your Contacts, scroll to the one you want, hit the BB Menu button, scroll to Edit, when the contact info comes up scroll down to the Custom Ring Tones/Alerts section, highlight the Phone option, click the Trackpad, when the next screen comes up the first box at the top is where you can choose the Ringtone. Click the Trackpad and all of your ringtones should come up automatically, if you want one that is not on the list scroll down to either All Alerts, All Voice Notes, or All Music and choose which file you would like to use. The same procedure applies to changing tones for messages. Your vibration, volume, etc. will all be set to Active Profile as a default, if you want the volume and vibration to be different for a specific contact you can also change these options at this time.

  • Is there any j2me api to assign ringtone to specific contact ?

Is there any j2me API in PIM or something else to assign custom ringtone to specific contact or specific phone number? if anyone of u have worked on this thing ..please share your solutions with me.....

You can use numactl to lock any process to a NUMA node, but that only helps if your machine really is NUMA (AMD Opteron servers are, Itanium systems often are).
You should be able to enumerate nodes using:
    numactl -H
And lock the process to a node using for instance:
    numactl cpubind=$node_num membind=$node_num java MyClass
It is hardware dependent how many CPUs and how much memory you have per node. A common number of CPUs is 1-4 sockets.

Assign a ringtone to a contact
From Phone, tap Contacts and choose a contact. Tap Ringtone and choose a ringtone. When that person calls, you hear that ringtone.

  • Different ringtone for each contact

Is it possible to set a different ringtone for each person or at least each person on your Buddy List?

I bet all your contacts are Google/Gmail imported right? I had the same problems when I got the phone. I used to have a Droid so when I switched over my contacts where synced through Gmail....and thats where the problem is at...and here's the bad news: you can assigned different ringtones to your contacts but they have to be IN PHONE CONTACTS...meaning that they must be saved directly into the phone(the old fashion way) not sync'd from another source. To prove my point try this: open up your contacts and click "add new" fill in the usual info but after you enter in the phone number dont hit save but keep scrolling down and guess what you'll see......yep, "ringtone" Weird but thats just how this phone is. After finding this out I had to stop gmail from sync'ing my contacts, wrote down all my contacts, erased the contacts that were on the phone, and began the long process of typing in all my contacts into the phone. have fun....

  • E72 :: Ringtones according to Contact Groups

On the E72, if you have tingtones associated to Caller Groups and a particular Contact is a member of 2 (or even 3) Groups, which ringtone will sound when he calls in?
There ought to be laws out there on the use of the term 'smartphone'

No Sujay, please read my question again - I've not assigned any ringtone directly to the contact.
I have a contact that is a member of TWO groups. each of the groups have been assigned a different ringtone.  ...... So which ringtine will be played when that contact calls in?
Or are you saying that both the ringtones for the 2 groups will be IGNORED and instead the default ringtone will be played?

  • Assign ringtone to GROUP!?!!

I have 100+ contacts in my phone. I have about 30 under the family, and the rest are friends and co-workers... Is there an app to assign a ringtone to a whole group? This is so annoying, changing ringtones for every individual person in my contact list.

There will be no 3rd party app for this. Something like this must be provided by Apple.

  • E72: How to assign specific ringtone to contacts?

    Hi all,
Ok, i know it's a "pro" mobile phone but i hoped to see this basic option. Am i missing something?
    Thanks,

I think only Goup can use different ringtones, but not each contact.  You can create Group then add contacts to the group.  On the Group Option, you'll have menu to change ringtones
    hope that help
Great tip, kokeropie! I had my E72 for 4 months now and didn't know that one can assign different ringtones based on Groups..   Is this feature in the documentation? I feel that the E72 has lots of features but knowing how to use them is oftentimes obscure or not easy to find out...

  • Changing Ringtones on Multiple Contacts - Nokia 58...

I created a group in my contacts and selected a few contacts and placed them in the group.  Then I change the group's ringtone.  However this did not change the ringtones of each contact.  This was not what I expected.
Could anyone explain why and how I might be able to change several contact ringtones at the same time?
    Thanks.
    M.

If your group is not that large, try deleting the group and redoing it.
What else could be going on is that you have a contact in a group but also have it assigned a personal ringtone in the Contact details. I believe that the ringtone in the Contacts will override the ringtone in the group.
Also, check and make sure that one contact is not in several groups.

  • New 4s.  Adjusted all ringtones by contact and now they are all showing as "multiple ringtones" for each contact.  Help!

I set up my new iphone 4s and assigned ringtones to my contacts on my phone.   A day later each contact showed "multiple ringtones".   How do I keep that from happening?  I did not physically sync my phone and am set up on icloud to sync.   thx.

I had this problem due to Linked contact cards so that each contact was composed of more than one entry. Apparently the Contacts list can get corupted and have more entries than you think. I found the answer in the Linked /Unknown discussion on this community. My reply that I poste dthere fixed the problem.
    This is what I wrote:
    ================================================
I had a problem where I could not get the assigned ringtone to ring correctly. Tried removing and restoring the contacts from MobileMe several times and resetting sync to copy the computer contacts to replace the MobileMe contact. Still no luck. Then I looked at the All Contacts number and it was larger than the total number in my Contacts list on the computer. So there were extras I couldn't see. When I turned off the MobileMe Contacts, some where still left anyway.
I then tried to cleanup the list by looking for hidden contacts. I tried the contacts "cleaner app" I had, called Group, which removes duplicates, but it did not find anything. Then I tried your recommended Cleanup app (seach in App Store for Cleanup), and, lo and behold, it found a lot of contacts that should not have been there still. Cleanup removed them all, leaving the list squeaky clean.
Then I turned on MobileMe Contacts again, and after the Contacts list populated, the number agreed with the number on  my computer. And the switching of assigned ringtones now works correctly.
So, I basically did what you recommended, but since I am not using iCloud to sync, since I haven't switched to Lion, I did the same thing using MobileMe.
