unfortunaltey to archive boms you have to archive alle predecessing documents before you can start this one.
go to transaction SARA for object MM_SPSTOCK and click the button for 'Network Graphic'. it will tell you very colourfull what you have to do before attempting to archive boms.
same goes for handling units, object LE_HU. Check in SARA.

Archiving process for batch and handling unit

Hi Guru,
Need your help in achiving process. I would like to achive batch and handling unit information in SAP. Is it possible that, I can just achive these information without archiving sales order, inbound delivery, outbound delivery and etc document ?
If there are 3 line item in sales order document, only 2 line item are shipped and 1 still open, for this scenario can the batch and handling unit information be archive. Or all the line item for that sales order line must completed then only can be archive.
Pls advise.

Assign batch and quantity to items of delivery (VL02n)

Hi ppl,
I have a file which has the delivery document number, item number, quantity abd batch details.
I need open VL02n programatically, assign the corresponding quantity and batch number for each item as mentioned in the file.
Please let me know how I can achieve this programatically.
If I use BDC, then how will I do the recording for each item...the number of items can vary for each document.
Please help.

Link between delivery and handling unit split items

Hi All,
I have an delivery wit 4 different line items. While creating the Packing we created the Handling units for the delivery.
In Handling unit one line item is split into 2 boxes.
like   handling unit     gross weight
            1                        20
            2                       20
           3                        20
           4                        10 split
           5                         10 split
so now i want to display the delivery line item and gross weight. For last line item i have to add the both handling unit 4 and 5 and display the gross weight.
In VEKP table i have only delivery number for the reference for all handling units. but not line item. So how can we find out for which delivery line item of the handling unit was split.

MTS with batch management, serialization and Handling unit

Hello All,
I am testing a scenario for MTS with batch management, serialization and Handling unit for discrete manufacturing.
Everything worked fine till I created the Handling unit for the finished product.
The production order has a quantity of 3 EA.
It has three serial numbers 1, 2 and 3. (serial numbers can be displayed from order->Header->serial numbers)
I created one Handling unit for production order quantity of 3 EA.
I tried to do a goods receipt for the production order using transaction COWBHUWE.
I get the following error when I try to post the GR:
Only 0 serial numbers entered instead of 3
Message no. IO304
Diagnosis
There is a serial number obligation, so the number of serial numbers must equal the number of serial numbers in the material document.
You can post the operation only if you entered the correct number of serial numbers previously.
System Response
Depending on the context in which the error arises, the system continues processing, or the required function cannot be performed.
Procedure
You have the following options, for example:
Check that the serial numbers are entered fully.
If necessary, display an error log.
If necessary, contact your system administrator.
What did I miss?
How to fix this problem?
Please help.

I added the serialization procedure HUSL to the serial number profile and it fixed the problem.

The SAP HU is used for tracking the handling units used by the materials. Some common handling units are packagings materials like cartons, pallets etc.
In the SAP system, the handling unit (HU) expands on the shipping unit. Handling units can be nested and you can also create new handling units from several handling units as often as you like. At the material item level, HUs contain the complete material identification, the quantity, and, in the case of serial numbers, the respective object list. Handling units have unique,
scannable identification numbers that can be developed according to standards such as EAN 128 or SSCC.
Handling units contain all inventory management information of the materials they contain that are maintained in Inventory Management. There are also status messages that you can call up at any time that indicate whether a handling unit is only planned or if the ship-to party has been notified of the arrival of this handling unit, or whether it is in the warehouse or has already been posted to goods issue. The integrated history function also records each business process in
the life cycle of each handling unit, meaning that you can track the handling units path and development at any time.

In HU-managed storage locations, all goods movements are executed through the specification of the respective HUs, and Inventory Management is performed through the handling units. If you are working without HU-managed storage locations, you can work with handling units (without stock information) as before in the delivery and in the shipment.
In HU-managed storage locations, materials can be managed in HUs only. Mixed stock made up of packed and non-packed materials within the same storage location are not supported. HUs can also be managed in interim storage types. Unpacking a material from a HU means that the stock of the material is posted to a storage location that is not HU-managed.
If you call up normal material movements in connection with an HU-managed storage location, a delivery is created, rather than a direct material posting, which has been the procedure up to now.
Please note that if you want to use 311 to move the material already in stock, but in a non HUM Storage Location and you want to transfer those materials into a HUM Storage Location 304. If this is the case you can use the transaction VLMOVE with the destination plant and storage location. Before that you have to create the HU with the transaction code HU02 Storage location: where the material is and the status: in stock.
Handling units are unique at client level in at least one system. Using an indicator at client level, you can control whether you are going to work with the HU functions. Since the handling unit is a physical unit, the central logistics processes are controlled through the input of the handling unit identification. These processes include putaway, picking, and stock transfers, as well as goods receipts and goods issues.
A handling units mobility can be limited if quality checks are active. Changes in the stock category caused by a quality inspection are made using a posting change in the handling unit.
There is also a report available that you can use to find and display handling units using different selection criteria such as material, packing instruction, or storage location.
Although the handling unit is basically a unit that remains constant in the system, you can change it by repacking the materials it contains. All the packing functions, such as packing, repacking, and unpacking, are completely supported by the handling unit functionality. In this way, handling units can be created in production, during goods receipt, or in the packing areas of the warehouse. If you have automatic packing, the handling unit is created from the packaging proposals defined in the system (from the packing instructions, for example).

There are various reasons for this:
Legal requirements (for example, the guidelines set out by GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) or regulations on hazardous material
Defect tracing, callback activities, and regression requirement
The need for differentiated quantity-and value-based Inventory Management (for example, due to heterogeneous yield/result qualities or varying constituents in Production.
Differences in usage and the monitoring thereof in materials planning in SD and Production.
Production or procedural requirements (for example, settlement of material quantities on the basis of different batch specifications).

Packing handling units to outbound delivery with batch management

Hello all,
I am packing an outbound delivery with a material that has batch management active. The packing is from a storage location that manages handling units (HU-managed sloc).
My problem is u2013 before entering the HUs to the delivery u2013 the system asks me to enter the batches (in the batch split function). Only then I am allowed to enter the HUs in the packing function.
What could be the reason for this preliminary batch entries ?
How can I set the system not to do that, i.e., I would like to be able to enter the HUs directly without entering the batchs separately.

Dear Isaac,
this system behaviour can not be changed in standard and is also not recommended to change it via a modification. The reason for this system behaviour is to avoid inconsistencies in the system. The HU that you assign to the delivery, should exactly fit to the delivery. In case if the material is batch managed, you should specify the batch first, and then add the fitting HU with exactly that batch.
I suppose you checked the longtext for HUDIALOG102, that you get in the described case, but I copy it for you, in case if you did not read it:
"Diagnosis
There are items to be handled in batches which have not yet been
assigned to a batch.
Batches must be recognized for items with HU-managed storage location
For items at a storage location that is not HU-managed, the item type
determines if packing will take place at cumulated item quantity level
(meaning that the batch is not recognized at any point in the handling
unit) or if packing must take place at batch level.
System Response
If an item requires batch identification, that item will not be
suggested for packing as long as the batch is not recognized.
Procedure
Go to the maintenance of the delivery item and assign at least one batch
to the item."

Assigning Handling Unit to Inbound delivery

Hi Guys,
My requirement is i need develop program which will t program which will take the mutliple Purchase orders/STOs and create a single inbound delivery. Acutally this will be done SAP transaction VL31N. But as it has sap enjoy transaction we can run write a bdc for this transaction. So I found one transaction VL34, which is taking the multiple POS, but..creating multiple deliveris i.e. a inbound delivery for each PO. So I copied this code in Z program and did the modifications to create a single inbound w.r.t. given purchase order numbers. But I found packing details are not getting updated.
So, now i need to assign the packing details (HU numbers) to created inbound delivery .
Any idea on this ?

How to unassign handling unit in outbound delivery?

(Don't Want to delete HU onlu unassign it from delivery: WM requirement)
I would like to unassign HU in an outbound delivery.
code i'm using make the handling unit disappear in the overview of HU.
but corresponding line in the "item overview" are still existing.
And when I want to copy pack quantities as delivery quantities, system tell me that "50.000 M have already been packed. Quantity cannot be changed. "
How can I do, to do as if i pushed button "delete assignment" in HU overview?

Same Handling Unit in Return delivery

we have a scenario which we are implementing for SAP's client DHL.
The scenario is as follows:
1. We have done the GI for the handling units.
2. And we want to take the same handling units back.
In order to do so, what we do
1. We create a return order with original sales order
2. This eventually creates a return delivery but does not get the handling units assigned.
3. Hence the delivery needs to be packed with the same HU's with which the goods have been issued.
Anyone has faced the issue earlier or any one aware of any Bapi or functional modules which will allow them to pack with the same HU.

Two serial numbers assigned to one Handling Unit???

Hi All,
I've a handling Unit HU 1000XXXXXX - correct in SAP with XYZ material with a serial number. But also another unit ABC has a different serial number also in some way tied to Handling unit 1000XXXXXX. This is an MTO for a sales order. Not able to understand how the other serial number is also assigned to the same HU.
Please suggest me to identify the root cause behind this.

Now you have stock of 2 qty with serial number
when you do delivery, you have to assign serial number which is already in stock.then it will show status properly
Remain qty 1 and 1 serail number.

Pack existing Handling Units into outbound delivery

Hi,
The current scenario is that a WHSCON IDoc is passed into SAP which will pack handling units onto an inbound delivery. As part of this processing the IDoc will create the HU records on VEKP.
Now, we are sending in a similar WHSCON IDoc to pack the same HU onto an outbound delivery. However, the IDoc is failing. It appears that the IDoc wants to create the HU instead of simply using the existing one.
Has anybody faced a similar issue.

Yes, I have the same problem now.
In the past we had 2 wm sub systems which send data via WHSCON to SAP and pack the delivery items.
To avoid error messages we "kill" the old vekp-record by setting the vekp-status to "0099" with a hart update and create new hu records.
Nowadays this solution is not sufficient, because the old hu has serial numbers.
Any solution in sight?

Handling Unit Details for Delivery needed (Table VEKP in R/3)

Hello all,
do you know if there is any standard extractor for handling unit details of an R/3 delivery?
I searched the Business Content and the available Extractors in R/3 but cannot find any.
If there is none, what would be the best way to get some content of Table VEKP e.g. VEKP-VHILM? Define an own structure and create a view? Can I also do this with the delta functionality?

indeed my question "short description" is wrong, as one material can have only one base unit.
If the base unit of one material in my system is CRT (crate) and the description is "box with 30 table napkins packs", I need to know where store the description of the single "table napkins pack" or "pallete with 20 boxes of 30 table napkins packs" available under "Units of measure" of that material.
The full hierarchy (pack-Box_pallete) of the material units are available in one SAP material, but there is only one place for one description.
