Assigning co code to Root org hierarchy....

Hi
I am having a basic question in SRM4.0 org structure hierarchy.
Is it mandatory to assign a backend company code to the root organization unit in SRM organization structure?
What I know is there will be only one Root org unit for a company and it will act as a parent for that company and sub units of that root unit can be assigned to different company codes or purch organizations from backend.
Why I am asking this question is in one implementation I observed that the root org unit was assigned to one of the company codes. Now they are rolling it out to different company codes.
In that case ideally speaking a company code cannot be created under an org unit which is already assigned to one company code.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
In that situation how it is to be dealt with?
can anyone please share your experiences?
Thanks
Jagdish

Hi Jagdish
Did you solve your problem regarding the org. structure??
I am very confused and hope you can help me.
I have 13 company codes, 1. purchasing org, 600 departments and 600 purchasing groups i must build up in a org. structure.
I have tried to build it as following:
Root - Purchase org.
- Company code A
-- Department 1 - purch. grp
-- Department 2 - purch. grp
-- Department 3 - purch. grp
- Company Code B
-- Department 1 - purch. grp
-- Department 2 - purch. grp
- Company Code ...
-- Department .. - purch. grp
This will result in a warning saying "You may not create a company below a purchasing organization (00000000)".
If I follow SAP help it says that the purchasing org must be on same level as the company code but this result in DUMPs. I therefore ask OSS for help and the answer from them is that the purchase org must be on root level !?!?
If I ask them to explain how I then must build my org structure so I do not get my warning the ask me to get remote consulting
Can you or anyone please help me.
I will give max points for a usefull answer.
Best regards

  • Can we assign more than one sales org to one company code ?

can we assign more than one sales org to one company code ?
or one as to one only ?
why sales org is assigned at company code level why not on plant level ?
    regards

Multiple sales organizations can be assigned to company code.
Company code is the highest organizational unit and plant and sales organization are assigned to it.
In the logistics module, Plant is the highest entity in the MM module and Sales organization is the highest entity in SD module. Basically with this assignment of plant and sales org to company code all the financial accounts are updated.
Assigning of Sales org to company code and not to plant is the standard functionality that helps map most business processes.

  • API for assigning an Inv Org to an Org Hierarchy

Is there an API for linking an Inv ORg to an existing Org Hierarchy?

Check the documentation, implementation guide specific to your product. Is there anything specific to OAF in your query?
I will suggest to post this issue in product specific forum.

Is there any way to pick the Root org unit for the emp.
Kindly suggest the code change where i have to change in the above code to get parental org unit...

    Hello!
I am not sure if you have already found an answer but MSS does not require you to change your existing Org structure. Many companies use position to position reporting relationship and not position to org. unit relationship with chief position holder. For MSS you can completely customize the way a manager is identified and how subordinates for the manager are identified by using function modules and perform necessary configuration in OADP.

  • FM or Table to get the BP ID of Root org unit

    Hello All
We are triggering code from ECC which replicates Ship to Address to SRM.
We want to know an FM or Table which will provide us with the BP # of the root org unit. ( Purchasing company)
It is preferable if we don't have to hard code this.
    Thanks
    Kedar

    Hi Kedar,
Create a custom table to store the business partner  of the root org unit or the company code and then use that table to get the BP and create ship to address for that org.
The could BP will be different in different environmnet so you cannot hard code that .. also there is no function module to get the BP of the Root  org id or compnay code...
there are FM and table to get all id of company code etc but all reuqire input busines spartner which you willhave to enter ...

  • Root org. unit with External number range

    Hi all,
    I have a unique requirement.
We need to create a root org. unit. I used PP0CE to do the same. But it would generate org. unit numbers internally i.e. system generated.
We would like to assign an external number range to the root org. unit created.
In case I try to create it using PP01, we have to provide a relationship to other org. unit while creating root org. unit in PP01.
It would be great if someone can tell me the solution for this issue.
    Regards,
    Bharat

    Hi Bharat,
You can maintain number range even for org units, as follows:
    Here
    01 - plan version
    A, C, O, P etc are object types
after selecting the respective ie 01O IN Ex ,
now click on maintain number range where you can clearly specify the number range either internal or external.
Then u can start with TC PPOCE
    Thanks

  • Function that return Company Code given an Org Unit ID

    Hi folks,
As per subject, is there any such function?
I seem unable to find. Straightforward way is just select bukrs from hrp1008 using the Org Unit OBJID. However, that table only stores direct assignment. I.e. many Org Unit actually have the company code inherited from parent OU. So if my OU doesn't have account assignment, must go to its parent OU to find, if parent OU doesn't have, again must go up and search. And so on..
If there's already such function, I don't want to re-invent the wheel.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Olyvia

I know it's an old topic, but the answer could be helpful for others:
use RH_STRUC_GET as suggested, standard WEGID OMACC_U will return the objects maintained in 1008 (including BUKRS, WERKS, BTRTL).

  • Learner Access using Org Hierarchy

    Hi
Recently created an org hierarchy so we can utilise the self enrollment functionality for specific parts of the organisation against certain courses etc.
However, when we have assigned the relevent learner access the class is not appearning within expected users catalogue. Is there any concurrent process or switch that anyone may be aware of that we need to invoke in order to have Oracle populate the employees against the hierarchy or has anyone else experienced a similar issue.
    Regards
    Carl

    You assume correctly.
Obviously I can unrestrict the class and make it available to all within the catalogue, the point is to make it available to only certain parts of the organisation and make it self enrollment.
I believe the issue is that the new org hierarchy has no employees/positions attached to it therefore applying learner access has no effect. I was hoping someone else may have experienced a similar issue and that there might be a simple step to populating the hierarchy that we have missed
    Cheers

  • Intercompany sale - how can i assign , more than 1 sales org of diff compan

    Hi,
    I have
    comp1 - Sales org 1 - plant 1
    comp2 - Sales org 2 - plant 2
    comp3 - Sales org 3 - plant 3.
Now i want to do Intercompany sale of Sales org2 with plant 1 & Intercompany sale of sales org3 with plant 1.
For that how can i assign , more than 1 sales org of diff company codes to Plant1 ??
Does SAP allow to do intercompany sale for more than 1 diff sales orgs ??
    Thanks for immediate response.
    Nitin

    Hi nitin,
    as per your scenario,
Company code 1 orders goods through its sales organization 1 from Plant 2 belonging to Company code 2.
It is imperative that both Plants 1 & 2 should have the material. In other words, the material is created for both the Plants 1 & 2 + their respective storage locations.
Sales Organizations and Plants are uniquely assigned to Company codes. It is not possible to assign either a plant or a sales organization to more than one company code.
Sales organizations and plants assigned to each other need not belong to the same company code.
    In other terms,
a plant belonging to Company code 1 & assigned to Sales Organization 1 can also be assigned to Sales Organization 2 of Company Code 2.
    CONFIGURATION SETTINGS
Assign Delivery Plant of the supplying company code to Sales Org + Distribution channel of the Ordering company code in the Enterprise Structure.
DEFINE ORDER TYPES FOR INTERCOMPNY BILLING:
Menu path: IMG/ SD/Billing/Intercompany Billing/Define Order Types for Intercompany billing
    Assign Organizational units by Plant:
Menu Path: IMG/ SD/Billing/Intercompany Billing/Assign Organizational units by Plant.
Define Internal Customer Number By Sales Organization:
Menu Path: IMG/ SD / Billing/ Intercompany Billing/ Define Internal Customer Number By Sales Organization:
Creating / Showing Ordering Sales Organization as Internal Customer for Supplying Company code:
    Transaction Code: XD01
The ordering sales organization is represented as Internal customer of Supplying company code.
We need to create customer master in Account Group - Sold to Party and maintain minimum required financial & Sales Area data.
This internal customer number has to be assigned to the ordering sales organization. Hence, the system automatically picks up this Internal customer number whenever there is Intercompany billing.

  • How do I change the assigned site code on a REMOTE client via WMI (C#)?

    Hi
I was wondering if it is possible to change the site code on a client remotely via WMI. I have found one or two links to this, eg
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj874135.aspx
    and
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/67b671bb-4819-4e7a-a4f6-6cb7ded17722/sccm-2007-change-assigned-site-code-on-clients?forum=configmgrgeneral
However none of these will allow me to change it remotely directly from my machine. I have written a tool which fixes many issues but having difficulty with this one. In the past I have even resorted to copying a script remotely to an affected machine then
setting a remote scheduled task which executes the script. This was effective but very dirty! I find it difficult to believe there is no way to do this directly but can't seem to find anything suggesting it is possible.
Before anyone replies with a 'what are you trying to achieve...' type answer, I have a similar situation to that of the guy in the second link but I would like something more instant.
    Many thanks

psexec or winrm will allow you to do this.

  • Company code and Purchase Org during vendor registration

    Hi,
I have one enterprise context, with many company codes and purchasing org.
I am aware that vendor master data is at enterprise level in ESO. However while integrating to backend i need to capture the relevant co code and Purchasing org.
When the Purchaser wants to create a vendor, there does not seem anyway to enter which Purchasing org and company code the vendor should be created for.
Need your suggestions for the following options
    1) capture co code and Purchasing org on bespoke fields and then in PI, pass these values to Co code and Purch org resp
    2) create company contexts - would this resolve this? what are the implications if one vendor needs to be extended to multiple co codes
    regards
    Subrote

    Hi,
Have you imported integration config workbook.
As part of ECC integartion  guide we have couple of workbook and XML needs to integrated, which will create all the required extension for vendor master and vendor registration.
Once you imported the integration workbook, you will able to see the company code and purchasing org screens in vendor master.
    Thank you,
    Mani

  • Cannot assign Project Code to GST Tax Code

    Hi all
With reference to SAP Message 389302, SAP has acknowledged the following limitation.
We would like to feedback to SAP Development team for correction of such limitation so that there is an option to assign Project Code to GST Tax Code in AP Transaction.
Our Client is not able to assign Project Code to Input GST Recoverable in AP Invoice transaction posted to General Ledger.
Currently, we are able to assign Project Code to the GL account for expense and AP Vendor so it will Dr Expense with Project Code Cr AP Creditor with Project Code but there is no way for us to assign Project Code to GST Code in AP transaction.
This is very incomplete and User has to make extra
effort to assign Project Code that is missing in Journal Entry created in from AP Invoice transaction with GST for printing the Balance Sheet by Project Code.
    Kedalene Chong

    Jac,
Another issue is cost center or profit center. It must also be assigned in th journal entry.

  • Reporting by org hierarchy with drill down by each level of reports to...

    Hello,
I'm trying to determine how to aggregate reporting by org hierarchy. Utlimately to report on opportunities at the highest level (CEO; all opportunities below CEO) then a second drill down report that shows summary by Level 2 (all those who report to the CEO), then again by Level 3 drill down which would be those who report to somone in Level 2. In all instances I want the report to show all records that ultimately roll up to that level (thus include direct reports alll of their direct and indirect reports )
    Level 1
    CEO $10,000,000 200 Optys
    Level 2
    Sales Leader 1 $ 3,000,000
    Sales Leader 2 $ 2,000,000
    Sales Leader 3 $ 1,500,000
    Sales Leader 4 $ 3,500,000
    Level 3
<ul><li>- rollup of all that report to Sales Leader 1 (and so on) aggregated by first level of direct reports ($3,000,000)
         Sales Mgr 1.1 $ 1,000,000
         Sales Mgr 1.2 $ 500,000
         Sales Mgr 1.3 $ 750,000
         Sales Mgr 1.4 $ 250,000</li>
    </ul>
I'd appreicate any help you can send my way.
    Thanks, Aaron

    Hi Aaron,
I have come across this and found that using the "Reports To" hierarchy and "Territory Team" hierarchy are not sufficient. I implemented this as a solution for one of our clients and it works very well:
I have modified the user entity and renamed 4 standard fields:
    •     Business Unit renamed to "Primary Line of Business"
    •     Business Unit Level 1 renamed to "BU Group"
    •     Business Unit Level 2 renamed to "Business Unit"
    •     Business Unit Level 3renamed to "Team"
Not all fields go through into analytics so I had to use these fields which are available in the Opportunity-Product History subject area. The downside is that they have to be text boxes so restrict access to who can populate these. From this you can get 4 hierarchy levels and drill from one to the next. The record owner then becomes the lowest level in your report and it can look something like this:
    Level 1
    Primary Line of Business
    Level 2
    BU Group
    BU Group
    Level 3
    Business Unit
    Business Unit
    Business Unit
    Level 4
    Team
    Team
    Team
    Team
    Level 5
    Sales Person 1
    Sales Person 2
    Sales Person 3
    Sales Person 4
    Sales Person 5
Obviously it would appear side by side in the report..
    Thanks

  • Mass change in Inspection lote, when assigning UD Code.

    Dear all,
curently we are facing an issue of having to mass change inspection lotes when assigning UD code.
    The senario is as follows:
using the tcode QA16 I can mass assign UD code for various inspection lotes using the option "in background". The requisition of the client is, however, to enter also a description text, for all the lotes treated. I an use the tcode QA16 and run a UD manual option, that lets me enter a long text for each inspection lote, along with assigning UD code. That is not acceptable, since there are daily hundrets of lots, we are talking about. That makes the manual option very time consuming.
Anyone had a similar issue? What I am looking for here is some exit, or other type of solution that allows me basically replicate the long text (the same for all treated lots) for various lots automatically. I was thinkig of QA16, making some necessary adjustments, but I not sure if it will serve for this purpose.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated,
    best regards,
    Anna

    Hi,
I think you would need to go for BDC to achieve this. Since this is required on daily basis, you should run BDC to enter the long text against the UD for each batch. This should work.
