Assigning of iviews

Hi all
I have created two iveiws
KMNavigation iview
web dynpro iview
I want to assign these iviews to folder which is present in a workset
How to do that
thanks in advance

Hi,
open the workset  and select the folder. After that go to the iview context menu add select the option "add iview to workset"
This will add the iview into the folder of that workset.
Otherwise it will add to the root of the workset.

  • How to assign a iview to more than one page at a same time

    Hi Experts,
I have created 40 pages. I have to assign ivews to these pages. One of the iviews is common to all the pages. Going to each page and assigning the iview to that page will take alot of time. Is there a way in which i can add an iview to more than one page at the same time?
    Thanks in advance,
    Prisford Pereira.

    Hi
You can do that using XML Content and Actions.
You can write XML in specified format and upload it to portal, that will automatically create the content for you in PCD. You can create iviews, pages, assign iviews to pages etc.
More details are available at the how to guide.

  • Automate the assignment of iviews, pages, workset to role....

    Hello Gurus,
We are using EP 7.0. Is there any tool available in EP 7.0 that will automate the assignment of different content objects, like assignments of iviews, pages and workset to role.
We want to assign large no. of iviews, pages, worksets etc. to diffrenent roles. Is there anything available that will help us to automate the assignment, rather than manually assign the objects to the role as it will be a huge task and time consuming.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Deb,
as far as I know there is no standard tool for mass assignment of content objects to portal roles. But you can easily develop your own solution. The folloowing sections of the SAP Library should be helpful:

    Hi,
Here is the step-by-step procedure to create a web dynpro iView in portal:
    1. Logon to portal.
    2. Content Administration->Portal Content.
    3. Right Click on the folder 'Portal Content'.
    4. Select 'iView' ->'New'
    5. In the Template Selection, select 'SAP Web Dynpro iView' and click 'Next'
    6. In the 2nd step, Give iView Name and iView ID and a prefix. Next.
    7. Select application variant, say, 'Java' in the 3rd step. Next.
    8. In the 4th step, select the System (Your WAS System), give the project name of your webdynpro, like, local/ABC_Project in the WebDynproNameSpace. In the Application Name, enter the application name of your Web Dynpro Application, say ABC_App. Next.

    11. Create necessary role/workset and assign this iView for an user.

  • Assigning iViews to Roles without Pages

I have created several "SAP Transaction" iViews that rely on HTML GUI and would like to add these to my Portal.  When I assign them to a page, and then add that page to a role, the iView height does not display automatically.  The iView is only about 80 pixels high.
I have also tried assigning the iView directly to the role, and in this case it displays correctly.
Is there any purpose to using "Portal Pages" if an iView is the only content being displayed for that Top Level or Second Level navigation choice?
Are there any problems with assigning iViews directly to roles?
Thanks for any answers you provide.
    Best regards,
    Bryan

    Bryan
You are correct, this concept didn't exist in EP5. In EP6 a Page and an iView are basically the same object, which is why it doesn't matter which one you assign to a role. The other thing is that if you do use a page, then the pagebuilder tends to include a lot more resources into the output, which increases the size (and potentially time) of the page downloaded to the client. If you only have transactional iviews, then I would forget about the page. If you decided to try and use the pages, then the things that can cause this problem are: -
    1) Domain of the iView is different to the domain of the portal and when the portal tries to re-size the page it can't access the size of the content and therefore can't resize it
    2) I would check things like the maximum and minimum page size attributes on the page. They may have default values in an iView but not a page
    I hope this helps

  • How to assign iView to user.

    Hi All
How do we assign iView to Role or Users.
    Thanks...Suresh

It is not possible to assign an iView directly to a user. Only roles can be attached to users. This can be done by going to User administration on the Portal.
Select the user name using the search functionality, navigate to 'Assigned roles' and attach the same there.
Conversely, it is also possible to search for the role name and navigate to 'Assigned users' and attach the user there.
    Hope this helps.

I would like to hide it.
I have tried to play with iview properties but no luck

    Dear Shashwat,
Try assigning BSP iview or page directly to roles and test it.
Also check in page or workset properties to hide from detailed navigation instead of iview itself.

  • IView preview works, but not when launching from a role

    Hi Everyone,
I'm sure this is a quick fix for all gurus out there.
I created a new iView which launches a PDF.  When I preview the iView, it brings up the PDF just fine.  I have saved this PDF under the Content Management folders, and defined my iView with the path defined as:
    /documents/.....
I have not included the full http://hostname URL, as I do not believe I need to.
When I assign this iView to a role, and try to click on this iView from the role, I receive the following browser error message, and my PDF does not come up.
    The webpage cannot be found
    HTTP 400
       Most likely causes:
There might be a typing error in the address.
If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.
       What you can try:
         Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
Go to  and look for the information you want.
Can anybody tell me what I am missing?
    Thank you for your help,
    John

    Hi John,
If you portal version is EP 7.0 SP18 , above suggested note mentioned by you will fix the issue .
    One alternative :
Try to set document iview property to open into new window rather than portal content area.It should work.
Permenent fix will be with sap note mentioned by you already.we already applied fix and it is working well.

still its getting in sam content are plz can u help out ASAP..
    ThanQ Vita

    Hi Richard,
The property Launch in New Window = Display in Saparate Window should work. Try to assign the iView directly to the role and check. It might also be some cache problem. Try to navigate to System Administration>System Configuration>Navigation Cache.
Clear them and check once again. Hope it might solve your problem.

  • Unable to assign the Ivews to Workset

    Hi Everyone,
I am currently facing an issue in content admin,
I am unable to Assign the IVIEW to the workset ....
I open workset and then clicked on the iview and i find no option for assigning the iview to workset.
I tried out various options but couldn't add the iview to workset ..Please let me know whether something is missing here...
    Regards,
    Raj

    Hi Kandara,
    Please check the following posiibilities:
    1. Check for Read and Write permissions for the workset you need to assign the ivew.
2.Also check your browser version if it is IE 7.
    3. Also i think that you might have locked some object ,to unlock them go to system admin-monitoringunlock objects---go and select the object which is locked and after that press unlock so that the objects are unlocked now.
    4. Please check whether you have opened the workset you need to asssign the ivew in property editor otherwise you will not be able to see any option .
After checking the above all possibilities try to right click on the ivew and then u will find teh option for adding to workset their you can select any one of them copy or delta link .
Hope this will help you if you face any furthe problem plz revert.

  • URL iView - Open in new window - User Action Independent

    Hello Experts,
    What has been configured:
I have built an I URL iview and set its paramater to open in a new window. I have assigned the iview to a role. I have also assigned a quicklink to the iview
    Name: xyz
    quick link: xyz
    quick link url: https://<domain>/irj/portal/xyz
    What has been tested:
When I log in to the portal using the test user ID and click (user action) on xyz the destination URL pops up in a new window as expected.
When I access the iview via the quick link it loads the destination URL in the same portal window (no pop up)
    What do I need:
We will be using the quick link to get to SAP portal from another legacy portal and I want to hit the target URL as soon as I access the quick link without being taken to the portal page in which the target URL content is rendered. I also do not want to have the user click on the/a link to navigate to the target URL.
    Things as they stand:
The destination URL is hitting a standalone WD ABAP object which is not hosted in SAP portal content. The SAP portal has to be used because the logon ticket issued by the portal is also used to login to the server hosting the WD ABAP.
Please let me know if you think this is something that can be achieved.
    Many thanks,
    Prashanth

    Hi,
    2. It is not possible to hide it completely or disable it. Give this a try:
Create a Static HTML page and create a link in that which will take you to quick link page/iview.
or you can create a custom application which will call the application underlying the quicklink on click of a link.
    3.  For removing the History, Back and Forwards links in Page Title Bar, follow the below:
In Portal navigate to Content Administration - Portal Content - Content Provided by SAP - End User Content - Standard Portal Users - Open the Default Framework Page
With the Framework Page - you will find Page Title Bar iView - Open the iview and go to iView Property
Show Back/Forward Links and Show History List by default this setting is set to Yes. change teh setting to No and you will not be seeing those in the page title bar.
NOTE: If you make this change it is applicable to all other pages and iViews. So be cautious before making the change.
    Hope this helps.
    cheers-
    Pramod
