Assigning portal display workset to a user

Hello Friends,
We are using NW04s Portal and currently working on look and feel part of it.
Portal theme can be changed by using "Portal Theme Editor"  from System Administration -> Portal Display tab.
I want to assign only this tab to a different user so that he can work on portal themes. He should not be able to see other admin worksets. What is the procedure to achieve it, if at all this is possible?
I searched for this workset in PCD but unable to find it. It is there in "System Administration" workset. I also used "trace delta links" button to search for the source object in PCD, but it says "System Administration" workset has the source workset.

Hi Nilz,
You can try this:
1) Go to Content Administration -> Portal Content -> Content Provided By SAP -> Admin Content -> System Administrators -> Copy the System Admin role and place it in your desired folder. This should be a normal paste, not a delta link copy-paste.
2) In your folder, right click on this role, change id. This will allow you to change the name and the id of this role and this would thereby be a different role all together. Call it eg. Portal Display Administrator.
3) Remove all other worksets except for "Portal Display".
4) Attach this role to the users who want this role.

  • Delegating "Portal Display" to a new role

    Hi all,
    I would like to create a role that I can assign to selected people that would allow them to manage the themes/desktops/framesworks/rules.  These people will already have content administrator's role.
    So, I created new folders for the new role and new role and workset.  My next step was to add the "Portal Display" workset to the new workset, as used in the System Administration role.  However, when I went to look for the "Portal Display" workset  I could not find the object in the PCD.
    Is there a way to create a role for just the "Portal Display" management?  Where is that object?
    I am able to do a delta link on the "System Administration" workset, but then I have to remove lots of stuff.  Seems a waste and not at all an elegant way to go.

    u r right
    i thought i could copy the role from role editor to pcc. But it is not possible.
    so the simple solution is to copy the role of system administrator as such in pcc and paste it  as delta link in ur folder of pcc. delete all the unwanted page , iview and workset from that role.
    Since u r pasting as delta link any future changes to system administrator by SAP will reflect in ur role too

  • Assigning Portal Users to Groups

    Hi,
    Is there a way we can assign portal users to portal groups through a sql or through a form interface? Right now, it is only possible to create users and go into individual groups and assign users to them. If a user should belong to multiple groups, then we need to go into each and every group and assign the user. Instead of this, is it possible to write a query or create a form interface and assign the user to all groups that he belongs to?

    Need a clarification. If users are assigned to a group in LDAP, Can you see the same thing reflecting in portal?
    I have configured LDAP as UME and I am able to see a group of LDAP appearing in Portal. But when I see the list of users assigned to this group, its empty.
    Any clues or suggestions.

    We have EP 7.0.. We have Portal dislay workset under System Administration thru which we can change theme and transport etc.
    My requirement i want assign this workset to user as role. So that particular user can have access to portal display and change theme.
    I tired to search for this workset but did not get it. does any one has idea about this workset .
    Or is there any other method thru which i can allow user to change theme of the portal i dont want to give them System Administration rights, i  only  want to allow Portal Display .

    Hello Jigar,
    Kindly navigate to Content Administration> Sarch and enter theare syatem and select Role from Drop Down.Click on search.
    Now open System Admin role and naviget to Workset that u require. open it in PCA.
    Copy that workset in some other location and assign it to newely created Role.
    OR
    Navigate to PCD Location property of that workset and find the location.
    I would prefer first method.

        My answer is same as Gopal.you can search for standard content_admin_role,edit that role and remove these worksets or page from the this role.
    Assign this new role to the user.you can also try by giving entry point for these 2 workset as "No"

  • Dynamically show/hide pages in a workset for special users at runtime

    Hi all,
    I want to create a workset that contains pages for different countries. The portal users should only be able to see the countries where they do business. I also would like masterdata from R/3 to drive the display of content on the portal.
    - Is there a way how I could dynamically show/hide certain pages of the workset for the specific users?
    - Would this showing/hiding of pages affect the workset for all users or only the instance for the specific user?
    - Would there be a difference when I want to dynamically show/hide iviews in a page instead of showing/hiding pages in a workset?

    It talks to exactly what you're trying to do.  I'd imagine you could extend this simplistic example to have the service pull the users country from his/her master record in R/3 and set their filtering expression accordingly.

  • How to change the portal role presentation based on users BW authorization?

    Hello,
    I have created 3 BW Roles, each one contains an iView with a certain report.
    For simplicity let's name the Roles A,B,C and assume that in order to see the proper report the user needs to be assigned to the matching group (A,B,C) at the BW side.
    I have imported these 3 roles to the portal as worksets, created new pcd role, placed these 3 worksets inside the new role and assigned this role to a certain group of users in the portal (these users are ABAP users so they are the same at the BW side as well).
    What I would like to do is this: I would like that each user that I have assigned this new role to will see only the worksets that he/she allowed to see based on it's BW authorization. Meaning, if I have been assigned roles A and B at the BW I will see only worksets A and B inside the role.
    The problem is this: From the portal I cannot assign the users to the BW groups and from BW I cannot control pcd roles so this kind of change requires me to make two modifications: One for authorization from the BW and one for presentation from the portal. I would like to manage it just from one place, either from the BW or from the portal, I don't care.
    How can I achieve this?

    I think I have found a solution: Export it as a role instead of a workset and do one to one assignments with the BW groups.

  • Portal display rule: connection bandwidth

    Hi,
    In the portal display rules (rule collections) it is possible to assign desktops to users based on the connection bandwidth.
    Does anyone know where this feature is based on? Or does anyone have information regarding this? I would like to use it for assigning light and default desktops to users, but cannot find the technical data that it is based upon.

This feature does <i>not</i> provide an automatic realization whether the user calling the portal has a low-bandwidth or not. It's just a matter of using corresponding URL aliases.

  • Error while assigning portal custom role

    Hi All,
    We have a custom role which we use to assign to the users.  till now we are able to assign it without any problem.  But now as i need to assign it to someone, i got an error stating that "An error occured while adding user assignments; to see the correct status, perform a new assigned user search".
    Can anybody help us in finding out the reason of the error and in rectifying the error.

    This role is existing in the PCD, and this error is coming, while assinging this role any users... it is working fine with the existing users, who are having this role before.  This is happening only when we are assigning this role to some new user. 
    I dont think this has some relation with the backend, as the role assignment is part of the Portal itself.
    And also here we dont have seperate UME, and we are using r3 users only with single sign on.....

    I have created one transaction variant for T.code:MM02. With this some fields were made display mode. I want assign this Transaction variant to few of the users only not all users. That is for others the above are changeble.
    So I want to know how to assign this transaction variant to respective users only. If I activate this as standard variant, it is applicable to all. But I want to assign to few only.

  • Changing the display profile for multiple users at once.

    Is it possible to change the display profile for multiple users at once? We would like ot be able ot add tabs and channels globally, but right now we can anly do it for once user at a time. Also, is it possible to have certain generic display profiles that all users use? like an admin profile and a tech support profile and a normal suer profile? Any help is appreciated...

    Yes this possible using the dpadmin batch command.
    Please check the dpadmin documentation for the batch command.
    For generic display profile what you can do is create users and assign the user particular roles. The display you would be creating would be for the roles. The users belonging to that role would inherit that display profile.

    first, welcome on SDN!
    About your question:
    Ganesh already showed the way for the PCD. Anyhow, the content admin also can accedd the KM content (if installed); so for KM the settings have to be done, too, i.e. defining only read-permissions for this user on all repositories.
    The same holds for System-Admin - Permissions - Portal Permissions, here under the different sections only read access permissions would have to be set.
    Anyhow, some areas cannot be restricted in this way, for example the User Management. This could be done only via http://yourserver/useradmin and there via ROLE actions (and not per user).
    Still, some areas certainly will stay problematic, so that one maybe would have to strip down the standard roles (create a delta link copy of the content and then remove the problematic areas).

    Hi Yogesh,
    Yes, you can assign portal group to your process action.
    If you test your process from GP directly, Wile assigning users to the actions. you will see an option to assign a group and a role too(by selecting that dropdown).
    So if you directly pass the group name in your code while calling GP. It will assign all the users in that group for that selected action.

    For my process, I need to be able to check the 'Display Page To Public Users' checkbox on the Access tab of a page properties. I don't find how it is possible to perform it.
    I see the field ispublic on table wwpob_page$ but I will not modify this directly. I would like to use the API.
    The same could be interesting for the inherit access settings from template.

    I want to achieve exactly the same, but I fear using the "wwpob_api_page" API, since I think it's an internal ORACLE API and hence not a good basis for any long term development, due to possible future changes, etc...
    Is there any way to do the same using a public, supported API? For example: "wwsec_api" or "wwsbr_api"?
