Assigning the keyboard eject key to an external burner?

So I'm using an external laCie firewire burner on my intel imac 17" and I was wondering if it was possible to use the eject key for this one instead of the default internal superdrive? (wich died, like a lot of users apparently).

I did two process with Automator, they call shell scripts like
drutil eject -drive "youdrive" and I'm calling it from the finder...
But if someone got a better solution, thanks in advance.

I want to make the keyboards numerical keys shortcuts for buttons, without a modifier key is this possible ? e.g. press '1' on the keyboard button 1 is pressed on the GUI.

The number keys are not valid hot keys for our controls. The easiest workaround would be to use fhe F keys instead (F1 for button 1, etc.) However, if you are set on the number keys you could implement this with a panel callback. You could have a panel callback that monitors all keypress events and then, depending on the key pressed, calls the code that would be called with a button press of the button for that key.

Apple pro keyboard eject key

I just got an apple pro keyboard M7803 and pro mouse M5769 for my B&W 400mhz. When I'm running 9.1, I notice the eject key on the keyboard doesn't eject the DVD tray (Pioneer 110D Superdrive). But when I'm running OSX the eject key works just fine. Any ideas?

I used Eject Menu for a while - it's handy. It not only provides a menu in the main menubar, it also allows the assignment of unique keyboard commands for all removable-media drives, including the Zip drive.
Haven't seen the connection posted before, but you may be experiencing a side effect of a soft conflict between the Apple CD/DVD Driver and the Iomega Driver extensions.

I disabled the Iomega stuff in Extensions Manager and started using the Iomega Guest utility a few years ago. It works perfectly - even if I forget to activate it before inserting a zip disk.

Apple Keyboard Eject Key driver missing?

Hello all,
Having just installed Windows Vista on my MacPro via the BootCamp assistant supplied with Leopard, I just can't open the cd tray using the eject key; I understand it's all about installing the proper driver that could be extracted from the Leopard DVD - is this correct? If so, how to intall it within Vista? I can't burn the driver on a CD and it(eject key not working) and I can't write on the Windows partition from within OS X as it is a NTFS volume...I'm getting quite desperate; truth be told, Vista is useless to me if I can't use CDs & DVDs for Windows-specific software and games...thanks for any kind of help

I have the same problem with my MacBook Pro. I wasn't able to find a way to use the eject key. I can't access my laptop w/Windows to see exactly how I ejected a CD but I know I did it. Anyways, if I can remember correctly, you can go to "My Computer" and either: right click on the CD/DVD and there is an option to eject or click on the CD/DVD and there's an option on the left to eject the CD/DVD. This is just my two cents, I was too lazy to search for an answer from Apple. Hope I can at least give you a temporary solution.

Getting the keyboard modifiers key state before injecting event.

I'm using the Robot to inject keyboard events into a host computer from multiple clients.
Since each client can have different modifiers keys (i.e. Shift, Alt, Ctrl, ...) set at a time and
clients can interrupt each other, I need to be able to read from the host computer what
modifier keys are set at that moment to get things back into synch.
The KeyEvent class has a way to get the modifier keys through:
KeyEvent.isShiftDown();
KeyEvent.isControlDown():
But this doesn't help (apparently) because that information is only available to a
Keyboard listener when a key is pressed.
What I need is a way to "get" the current keyboard modifier keys state before injecting
an event through the Robot.
Would anyone know how to do this?

Is it possible to use the keyboard arrow keys to adjust the exact position of a text box in PE11?

Hello all,
Could someone please give me a tip on a precise way to move a text box a pixel to the left (or right) - any direction really, using the arrow keys on the keyboard instead of the mouse.
This may sound like a daft question but the only way I can move a text object is by using the mouse and dragging text boxes precisely in any direction is a real pain, especially if I have many of them.
The mouse just can't be the only way.
I wish the arrow keys could work just like in Microsoft Word. When the text box is selected and the arrow cursor is also activated, one can adjust the exact position of the text box.
It doesn't seem to work in Pr.Elements 11 though. I tried various combinations (Alt + left/right), (Ctrl + left/right) etc. and still nothing.
Is this possible at all?

Thanks. We do have Adobe CC and therefore I have access to PrPro but I spent some time getting to know Element's interface already and was hoping I would not have to use PrPro, which is slightly more complicated.
It is only small to medium edit jobs that I need editing software for anyway.
That is a shame really!
As far as I am aware, there is a newer version (PE12) that is now availble. Does anyone know if they have improved the functionality in terms of precise title positioning in that latest version?

The Keyboard Home Key Enigma

Why is it when I hit my keyboard "Home" key the fader in my mixer shoots to the top? I am in the multitrack mode and have to channels in solo mode. My Mike fader doesn't move only the one with the music track for my voiceover??? Very strange....hitting the Home key is only supposed return me to the beginning of the project and not effect my mixer fader setting??? Even turning the automation to OFF instead of read has no affect!

Where is the media eject key delay in Lion

I swear, I get so frustrated at Apple these days.
I recently switched from developing on a MBP 17 to an iMac 27. Around the time of Tiger, Apple added a delay to the eject button: hold it down for one second and the disc will pop out. This avoided problems where a typo could cause you to eject the disc at an inopportune moment.
It appears Lion ate this feature. I have an enormous screen, but an itty bitty keyboard with the EJECT-NOW!!! button inconveniently located next to the Delete key.
Frankly, I'd like to disable the **** thing or send the whole contraption back to Apple and tell them it keeps popping out DVDs. It seems perfectly acceptable compared to taking a hot glue gun to a two month old $3000 piece of equipment.
Before I go that far, has anyone else a better suggestion (besides the obvious "don't make mistakes while typing" because that's not going to happen)?

What? I have never had a hidden network. Keychain access has been around for years. Did you just discover it? As for Pencils, sorry, you are not making much sense.

how can i get my laptop to export the image to an external monitor?
I have a MB Pro, and have tried DVI to HDMI direct cable, the supplied DVI-D cable connected to VGA cable and no luck.
the screen on my laptop is flickering and I want to use the external monitor.
Any advice appreciated.

The typical method is to just plug it in.
If you are using Mini DisplayPort, the adapter must be right at the Mini DisplayPort end, you cannot convert to VGA halfway down the cable.
DVI and Mini DVI provide computer-generated VGA at the computer connector, in the bar at one end and the four pins around it, plus one more from the top row of the grid.
The biggest problem with HDMI is that the display must be "paying attention" and ready to answer when the Mac queries for the name and capabilities.
If your internal display works at all, this can tell you whether the external display has been detected:

The keyboard number keys and symbols above them will not work. I nothing at all except a space or they last letter key used, but works fine in other applications such as MS Word. The number pad works just fine. Any one have any thoughts on this.

I had to do a reinstall and upgrade to Windows 7, so I may have missed something. Running a 64bit OS. Problem only seems to be in the browsers.
