Assigning transport keys to a midi keyboard?

Got an M-Audio Axiom 25 - lovely piece of kit.

Was able to map the transport keys (stop, play, rewind, loop, record etc) onto the keyboard itself when i used it with Reason on the PC, can i map them with garageband?
(I AM saving up for Reason, but I am really surprised just how useful garageband is!)

Assigning SEND key to Apple Wireless Keyboard for messages?

Does anyone know whether you can assign a "Send" key on the Apple Wireless Keyboard so I can send text messages and email without having to touch the iPhone's "Send" button? There's no info in the manual. I'm handicapped and have difficulty working the phone's dinky key layout, and bought the keyboard to help me send text messages. Kinda defeats the purpose if I have to then Send the message from the iPhone, not the keyboard . . .

I believe you can use VoiceOver in combination with your keyboard to do what you want. Settings>General>Accessibility>VoiceOver>On.

Essentially when in VoiceOver, you use the arrow keys and space bar while holding down the control and option keys to select and tap what you need.

Assigning multiple key press in shortcuts keyboard

I find that i use the select all tracks forward far more than select track forward so would like to change my shortcuts to t for select all tracks and tt for select track. Problem is that I can't get Customize Keyboard to accept multiple presses of t - it simply registers the single press of t and asks if I want to change the shortcut it is assigned to.
Any ideas?

Problem is, Redtruck, I can only get FCP to register one press of t. I can reasign select all tracks forward to a single t but when i go to select track forward and press t it asks me if i want to reassign t to this command and then overrides the select all forward shortcut (which reverts back to tttt automatically).
I can't seem to find a way to enter multiple "t"s when assigning a shortcut.
I hope this makes sense (I'm almost confusing myself).

Midi keyboard does not play the note F2.

Hey guys,
My Logic is running fine overall but this one thing is realy upsetting: My usb midi keyboard (Alesis q25) does not play the note F2. If I press the key on the midi keyboard the note is not shown in the transport area (or transport field? don't know the correct english word) BUT when I release the key it shows that the note is not played anymore (a crossed note appears and next to it it says: F2_ _64). Furthermore it is not a problem of the hardware because when I use another octave the same key makes the midi files play but another key, now assigned to F2, is not working anymore. The caps lock keyboard is working fine so i think there is a problem with the midi setup but logic is not really making it easy for me to reassign the keyboard completeley. Could anyone help me please?

Switching MIDI instruments with my MIDI keyboard

I was wondering if it's possible to assign a certain key on my MIDI keyboard to cycle up or down a list of instruments like you can do in Mainstage.

I think I found my answer through another question. I was able to set up different MIDI channels for each instrument and switch those channels with my keyboard. I was also able to map different parts of the keyboard to different instruments. VERY USEFUL!! This has been a big problem for me and now I am glad to say that it seems to be solved. Thanks for your suggestions!

Can I get Garageband to recognize the drum kit channel on my midi keyboard?

I can pull up a large selection of drums on one of the channels which are located on the first 16 white keys of my midi keyboard, unfortunately they aren't accessible like the other midi instruments but are on a channel all on their own. I am using a Keystation 49e from M-Audio. The problem is GB only interfaces with the advanced functions on the keyboard if it's set to channel 2 and the drums are on a separate channel. Also can anyone tell me why Boldt pack volume 3 only produces a sine wave sound? Thanks.

Transport key commands on Macbook

I'm used to using the numpad keyboard shortcuts for transport control on the Mac Pro.
As I'm switching to a Macbook Pro, I'd be interested if people have recommendations on how to map these transport keys onto the notebook keyboard?
Not looking for a step-by-step guide btw, just some input on what mappings people have found convenient.

I can't get the transport buttons (record/play/stop) assigned on the transport buttons on my M-Audio Oxygen 8 v2 midi keyboard controller. I've tried assigning it in Key Commands but it's not recognizing when I hit the transport buttons on the device.

Assigning instruments to specific keys on a USB keyboard

Is there a way to assign certain instruments to specific keys on a USB keyboard?
I use an M-Audio Keystation 49e USB keyboard. It works fine, but I have no experience with MIDI and don't know what the "advanced functions" button on the keyboard allows me to do, although I'm sure with some pointers I can figure it out.
(Some weeks back xs4ls recommended the JamPack 3 with the Studio Toolkit. Thanks for that recommendation. The stuff really improves upon the stock drumkit software instruments. But in the Studio Toolkit, certain instruments I might like to use together are often located more octaves apart than I can play at one time. The regular kits are generally organized on the keyboard such that I can play them "live" just like I do my actual drumset. This is how I prefer to lay down my drum parts. I'm also interested in assigning drum sounds from a various software kits to save as my own custom kit, if possible.)

GB3 has a "programmable keyboard" feature that isn't as slick as the stock instruments, but it's better than nothing! (one of the good features of GB3)
I found a bunch of old Qbert (the video game) noises on line, and created my own instrument with those. Pretty sweet.

Midi keyboard key A2 not working with Logic Pro 8

Hello
I was using an m-audio keyrig 49 for a good 3 months, when all of a sudden the A2 key stopped working properly. The transport bar in logic shows that midi data is being received when I press A2, however there is no velocity value. The key only makes a sound when I'm going from another key to it, and even when that happens there is a sustain effect on the note, which aren't on any other keys.
I have tested this on midi keyboards from m-audio, novation, and edirol... keyboards that require drivers and keyboards that don't require drivers.
Any ideas?

Try redefining the key commands. Sometimes they can be a little flaky when importing earlier key commands. Redefining them might "unstick" them...

How do I Assign one sample to all midi keys so I can play it using different notes? Like I could in iOS Garageband?

In garageband on my iPhone I could select a song,apple loop or whatever and play that sample using all keynotes on the touch screen keyboard,i can't see how to assign a sample to all of my midi keyboard keys,surely it's possible?

I have this M-AUDIO KeyStudio 25 midi keyboard controller. On this, i have like 8 knobs, 8 buttons and 1 slider where i can assgin a control such as echo, modulation, etc...
To assgin these buttons a control, i need the ''MIDI Learn'' function but I don't see it anywhere in GarageBand, are there any other ways to assign things to my buttons ?

Which 61 key midi keyboards work with Logic Pro X (10)? M-Audio, Novation, Akai, Roland???

Hi. I'm new to this community but would really appreciate some help.
I'm struggling to find a 61 key midi keyboard which works properly with Logic Pro X.
I was looking into getting either the M-Audio Axiom 61 or Novation Impulse 61 but all I can find on google etc. is people saying they don't work properly.
Has anybody got a 61 key which works seamlessly with Pro X?
Any help would be much appreciated.

1. I create new project
2. I select Yamaha Grand Piano
3. I play something in "live" mode. All is ok
4. I play something in "Rec" mode. All is ok
5. I record second track with the same instrument, with Yamaha Grand Piano. All is ok
6. I record third track with Yamaha Grand Piano. All is ok again.
7. Now I muting first or second track and... third track plays wrong notes! I unmute first track, but third track still to play wrong notes! Why???
Ok. I continue experiment with created project. I have three Yamaha grand Piano tracks and I creating new software instrument and assing Hovering Machine to it. I try to play in "live" mode something. And I get interesting effect. If I play short notes (sixteens, for example), I can play for one minute without problem. And Logic Pro X starts to play wrong notes after this time delay.
If I start to press chord notes without breaking, Logic Pro X plays for 15-30 secounds normally and starts to play wrong notes them.
Well. I turn off all plugins and effects from instruments. But Logic Pro X countinues to play wrong notes!
I experimented with NI Kontakt 5. Kontakt plays wrong notes!
I experimented with LUSH-101 plugin and minimoog. This two instruments play correct notes always!!! WHY????

My midi keyboard is playing multiple sounds when I press a key. Like when I play a note on the piano preset, there is a snare hit or a shaker that plays along withe the note. Is there a setting I need to change to get rid of it?

this recently happened, never had the problem before. I've restored my midi keyboard to factory settings but the problem persists. I go into garage band and click on the piano preset, but when I play a note it plays multiple instruments. It seems as though the keyboard has its own setting, but I've tried resetting it. Again it's never happens before, just recently is there a way to get rid of that background sound? If it happens again the make sure that you aren't suppressing website colors.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

Help needed in connecting two midi keyboards to Logic Pro.

Hey there, I would like to connect two midi keyboards to Logic Pro and enable each keyboard to trigger separate software instruments each. For example, one keyboard has guitar and the other has strings.
I realise this must have something to do with midi channels or ports, however my knowledge is limited.
At current, I just have the two keyboards connected via usb straight to the computer. Is it possible I need a multi input or output interface, so that Logic can recognise different ports, or channels? Perhaps there is simply something I need to do in Logic itself? the keyboards are basic M-Audio midi controllers, just a usb port - thats it, no other connections. Any help would be great, Brad.

yes you need also to change the out midi of the keyboards.
in my case I have the Keysation 61 es, it's done this way:
"Channel
MIDI data from the keyboard can be sent on any of 16 MIDI Channels. However, certain MIDI devices and MIDI software applications require
the keyboard to send data on a speciﬁed channel. If this is the case, you can change the channel the data is sent using the following
method:
< Press the Advanced Functions button to engage Edit Mode.
< Press one of the 16 Channel keys from D1 to E3, according to the Channel that you need.
For example, if a device speciﬁes that you need to send data on Channel 10, press the Advanced Functions button, and then key F2 to select
Channel 10.
The Channel can also be assigned to the Octave “+” and “-” buttons. Once assigned, pressing “+” or “-” will increase or decrease the channel
incrementally. When Channel 16 is reached and “+” is pressed, Channel 1 will be selected. If the Octave “+” and “-” keys are selected to vary
the Channel, the lights above the buttons will not change, since it is not possible to have a Channel with a negative value. Pressing both the
“+” and “-” buttons together will recall Channel 1."
Can you please tell me what keyboards do you have?
this is for two players having a go on completely 2 different parts.
In case you want to record 2 tracks with the same content say a piano and a pad,
all you need to do is open the tracks and rec enable both and you have piano pad.
Anyway I believe you need to have two separate sounds for two players?
Give us some more input of what you want, there must have one or more solutions to what you need.
