Assigning two different drives to iTunes...

hi everyone
so i have space for all of it , i got 2 X W.Digital My Book 1TB each : one for music another for video, why such big drives ? i keep my music in high quality, lossless formats. the one with music is assigned in iTunes preferences as it's iTunes music folder location & it works fine . now ...how do i assign the 2nd drive ( the one w/ video ..) so iTunes gets the videos from there ? no matter what i tried, it seems iTunes doesn't provide for this 2nd drive to be ''iTunes Video folder location'' !?
should i/is it possible to download a second iTunes so i can assign the 2nd drive as iTunes video folder location ? or should i just download a video specific ''librarian'' ( if this is the correct word..). by the way can someone tell me what video formats can iTunes ''handle'' ?
any help will be very appreciated, thank you so much
Nuno Baptista

hi Neil
it sounds SO simple i feel like slapping myself !...LOL...now just to make sure : when i import more music into iTunes i have to check back the ''copy files to iTunes Music Folder'' box so the music department of it keeps working as it has until now, right ?
this was aggravating me so much because i really have grown accustomed to ''iTunes's ways'', feel comfortable with it & quite like it's deceptively simple interface. besides i tried a few dedicated video iTunes equivalents ( what's the right word ? a manager software, librarian ?..) & most where clunky at best
I'm going to try it immediately.
thanks so much, cheers
Nuno

I have two ipods in my house that were set up under the same email.  I have since assigned two different emails.  How can I change the game center account so that is not shared by both ipods because it is for two different users and they are not happy?

By "game center account", do you mean Apple ID?
If so, you can change it.
    1. Tap settings and navigate to iTunes and App Stores
    2. Tap "Apple ID" and then tap "Sign Out"
    3. Log in with a different ID.

  • Can I have two different libraries for iTunes?

I would like to have two different libraries for iTunes. How can I do it?
    Regards.

To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Option key (or Shift key in Windows) when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Mac
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one.

They can, but not at the same time.
If one user left iTunes running, and another user tries to use iTunes from a different Windows user ID, that second user will get an error message.  If they really want to use iTunes, they either have to beg the first user to log in and close iTunes, or else they have to restart the computer.
If you are asking the technical reason why, it is something about context switching.

  • I attempted to perform the itunes update on two different PCs and itunes will no longer open and I received a message to reinstall itunes. The reinstall did not work and I now receive a Runtime error message (R6034) re: library loading incorrectly. Help?

I attempted to perform the itunes update on two different PCs. Itunes will no longer open and prompted me to reinstall itunes.  The reinstall did not work after several attempts and I received an error: "Runtime error R6034. An application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information."  Has anyone else had this issue? How can I resolve it?

I've been having the same exact problem this morning, and from the looks of it a lot of other people are posting about this issue, so I don't know if it's maybe something wrong with the download but I'm just relieved that it seems to be that instead of a corruption issue with my windows installation.  I'm just wondering how long this will take to be resolved.

  • Can Time Machine Backup to Two Different Drives?

I have many Apple Computers, and I was wondering if it were possible to have time machine backup to two different drives.
I want it to back up My documents, Mail, and other files/folders that I access often to a partition of my internal drive every minute.
    And
I want it to back up Everything on my Mac to my external each night upon connecting it to my mac.
I take my MacBook everywhere with me and I need to make sure that the files I work on the most stay Perfectly Accessible no matter what, and I don't want to sacrifice too much space for that procedure. I would rather just be able to do constant backups of my most used files and folders, and then do a system backup each night to make sure I always have what is needed.

Let me add some more observations. I use two disks, one at home (its a mounted volume on another Mac at home) and the other is a portable disk that I attach to my MBP at work. This works fine.
About your details - TM backs up every hour. If you look around you'll find some posts that give instructions on changing the frequency (I haven't paid attention to these, so I can't help you). However, backing up to another partition on the same drive is not what I'd recommend. If the drive dies, you may lose both partitions.
As for doing constant backups of the most used files and at night doing a system backup - it seems to me you aren't "getting" TM. This sounds like the type of backup strategy one uses with "regular" backup software. I don't think I'd recommend backups every minute, but for short intervals, why not just do a default backup of everything. It doesn't really back up everything, just things that have changed. The only time it does a complete backup is the first time you use it with a specific drive. After that it no longer does complete backups, unless you reformat the drive and start from scratch.

  • How to use two different accounts in iTunes

I have purchased apps under two different email accounts and I am now unable to use the initial account.  Having deleted some apps because of problems, I am recharged for the apps because apple will not accept the original password and user name.  When I try to add it to my apple account, I get a message that this particular user name is already in use.  (yes, by me!)  Please help.

Contact Apple about your iTunes accounts and maybe they can combine the two.

Yes, create another user profile on the computer and each user can log into their own profile that way.

  • Managing different drives with iTunes

I have stored my files (music / videos / images) on different drives. How can I synchronize these files on my iPad? iTunes manages only one file location.....

Assuming that all iPods, music and libraries are yours the best bet would be to set the iPods to update manually. Also try this discussion string for other suggestions: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=322004. Please let us know if any of this helps.

  • Resource assigned two different Skills

HI.  If i have a resource assigned to two different Skills that are both set to Longest Available, which skill would take precedence?  Is this where I should use the Competence level to give one Skill a priority over the other?
Scenario is Resource A and B are in both Skill 1 and 2.  Skill 1 & 2 are both set to Longest Available.  A&B are the only members of both Skills.  No resource groups.
Does the system somehow keep track of which Resource is Longest available to the Skill?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am assuming you are talking in regards to UCCX (as oppose to UCCE), if so skills do not have routing algorithms, CSQ do, skills get assigned to CSQs, are you CSQ to one to relationship with skills? If so, and if agents belongs to both skills and 2 calls are queued when the agent becomes available the longest available call will be delivered. If you want to prioritize one CSQ call over another you need to use Priority step in the script.

    Chris

  • Valuable information TM backup on two different drives?

    Greetings!
I am maintaining a very large collection of photos, properly classified in folders.
I am currently saving those photos in an external HD.
Of course, TM backup does not backup those folders.
I am also looking at redundancy in backup (RAID is the term used???)
So, I would like to setup some backup scheme - external to my MBookPro - whereby backup would automatically be created and maintained on TWO distinct HDs. Possibly/preferably via Time Machine. OR, do I need to acquire a separate external (HP makes those) server?
    Any idea??
    Thank you!

Why not? If the drive is formatted HFS+, it can. Just remove it from the exclusion box in TM Preferences > Options.

Time Machine can only have one destination at a time. You could have two drives and manually change the destination via TM Preferences > Select Disk, but that's probably not the best solution.
Or you could back up to a hardware mirrored RAID set, since it looks like a single volume to OSX, but that may not be the best, either.
I'd recommend using CarbonCopyCloner (which I use, in addition to full TM backups), or the similar SuperDuper. They make "bootable clones," which are different from Time Machine -- some advantages, some disadvantages. CCC won't back up two separate drives in the same process, but can easily be set up to back up your internal HD to one partition in one process, and the other one to a second partition in another. I don't know whether SD will do both at once.
This gives you the advantages of both types of backup, and protects you from a problem with one of them (external drives fail, too). Some folks do the "clone" to a portable external HD, and take it to their safe deposit box, workplace, relative's house, or other secure location periodically. Others have a pair of portable externals that they swap weekly or so. Thus they're also protected against fire, flood, theft, direct lightning strike on their power lines, etc.
CCC is donationware, so you can use it free for a while. If you decide to keep it, send them some $$ so they can keep it up to date. SD has a free version, but to do updates (rather than a full replacement) or automatic scheduling, you need the paid version (about $30).
Either is available via Google, VersionTracker.com, or MacUpdate.com.

  • Help, I have two different Mac App & iTunes Store IDs & passwords

Configuring a new MBP I've got two different, "old" and "new", Mac App Store and iTunes Store IDs and passwords, thus splitting my purchased apps in two different places. Annoying and unproductive. Anyone out there who can assist this idiot in getting it all nice and tidy back into one place?

Not really, Apple is not big on combining Apple IDs. I would suggest that you stop using the one with the least stuff on it. If you have apps on the ID that you stop using that will eventually have a paid upgrade, the next time you need to pay for the app make sure that it is with the ID that you keep.

  • Assigning two different data sources to infosource

    hi
i have a small problem. Actually we have a development bw server which is having client no.500.
we have a development r/3 server which is of client 330. and we have defined a rfc connection for client 330 in bw client 500. and all the infosources are assigned to that rfc connection which is configured for 330.
In 330, we  have very less data. We have one more client 700 which is having data. Now i have created a rfc connection for this client 700. and i want to use this connection  as a source for client 500 in bw.
can i disable the existing rfc connection of 330 and use rfc connection of 700 for the same infosource.
    Please reply.
    regards
    padma

You can assign from different clients of your source system datasources to your infosource. I've already linked 30 datasources out of 30 clients to one infosource. No problem.
So you can link both of your clients to your infosource. I think it is important not to delete the connection to client 330 because this - I think - is the client where you do all the "customizing" setting for your datasource. Then this datasource-infosource connection is the basic for the transports to the production system.

  • Two different versions of iTunes on a mac with two accounts?

Let's say two people share one computer and person A likes what he hears about iTunes 9 and wants to down it, but person B hates it and wants to keep iTunes 8 on the computer. I know it can't be done with one account but can it be done with two accounts if there is only one computer?

Good question. I'd say +back up your computer+ and give it a try. Put the copies of iTunes in Applications folders in each account, not in the common Applications folder at the main level of the directory.
Some of this may depend upon how you currently have it arranged with music files and libraries. I'm assuming you have it all sorted out as to accessing music files, unless you each have your own collection.
I don't know the full workings of itunes9 but as long as you don't share a common library (which is version-specific) or preferences files then I don't see why different versions won't work. Again, I'd make a backup in case anything funny happens, then try.
