Assigning users to employee to access ESS
Hi Friends
Please let me know why to assign user to employee for accessing ESS applications in portal.
What is the difference between user and Employee.
Thanks in advance
Hi Krishna,
ESS i.e. employee self service is an application which comes as a Business package mySAP ERP and is precisely a set of iviews of Webdynpro application.
The main purpose of user being assigned to employee to to use the ESS appication, without which the Business package would be irrelavant.
For employees to be able to use the Employee Self-Service applications, they must be linked with a user. Each of the users has to be linked with a role. The role provides your employees with the system authorizations they require. The authorizations ensure that employees can execute the following functions:
1. Access the Employee Self-Service applications.
2. Display data
3. Maintain their own data
Each employee is linked to a user via the Communication infotype. i.e. 0105
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks and Regards.
Shaila Krishna.

Edited by: Thirunv on Oct 26, 2009 2:16 PMHi,
1.Is this related to only one user or all the users?
2.Did you check the permissions on the system object used to access the ECC box.
Cheers!

How to restrict employees from accessing managers data using custom security profile
Hi,
I am using custom security profile for restricting the employees from accessing supervisors details(PG.SEGMENT2=4). I have written the custom code as below :
Responsibility :US Super HRMS Manager
ASSIGNMENT.PERSON_ID
IN
(SELECT PAF.PERSON_ID FROM PER_ALL_PEOPLE_F PAF,
PER_ALL_ASSIGNMENTS_F PF,
PAY_PEOPLE_GROUPS PG,
PER_PERSON_TYPE_USAGES_F PPU,
FND_USER FNU
WHERE PAF.PERSON_ID=PF.PERSON_ID
AND :EFFECTIVE_DATE BETWEEN PAF.EFFECTIVE_START_DATE
AND PAF.EFFECTIVE_END_DATE
AND PF.PEOPLE_GROUP_ID=PG.PEOPLE_GROUP_ID
AND :EFFECTIVE_DATE BETWEEN PF.EFFECTIVE_START_DATE AND PF.EFFECTIVE_END_DATE
AND PPU.PERSON_ID=PAF.PERSON_ID
AND PPU.PERSON_ID=PF.PERSON_ID
AND :EFFECTIVE_DATE BETWEEN PPU.EFFECTIVE_START_daTE AND PPU.EFFECTIVE_END_DATE
AND PAF.PERSON_ID=FNU.EMPLOYEE_ID
AND PAF.PERSON_TYPE_ID =2
AND PPU.PERSON_TYPE_ID
IN(2,62)
and PAF.person_id = FND_PROFILE.value('user_id')
AND PG.SEGMENT2=8)
and using "restrict the people visible to each other using this profile".
I have assigned the security profile to HR user responsibility
But when I query the supervisor name in HR User responsibility , it is not restricting me from viewing supervisor details.
When I query for first time, its restricting me to view others details, but when I close that click on torch button and try searching, its allowing me to access manages details.
Can any one please let me know what setups need to be done for restricting employees from viewing supervisors data.
I have gone through the document "Understanding and Using HRMS Security in Oracle HRMS" but didn't got any idea.
Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,
Anusha.Hi All ,
i solved the problem by using event 01 of header view and using the table "Extract" .

Hi,
I would like to integrate Manager Self-Services(MSS) and Employee Self-Services(ESS) into my Enterprise Portal EP6.0 SP2.
I have downloaded the business packages for the same and looking for a good document which can guide me to implement the integration.
Any quick response would be highly appreciated.Hi,
the "connection" between iView and R3 System is done via the system definition. The ESS - iViews use a System alias SAP_R3_Human_Resources (and the other names I mentioned above).
If you have assigned this ESS role to a user the iView connects to the R3 system defined in the alias. If you chose single sign on the user id from the portal should be the same as in the R3. If it is different the easiest way would be to use usermapping.
The best way would be to assign this ESS role to your user and watch what is happening.

Accessing ESS and MSS Portal from home PC
If an employee wants to check there vaction and sick balance from there home PC.
Or they need to enroll a member of their family into a benefits program.
All they need is the proper version of the Web browser.
Or will you need to install the SAP Client. Also I feel that the thread poster has to take help from his Security & ABSIS folks for the constraints. Just Portal on Internet would not suffice, I think he will need to expose R/3 outside firewall as well.
If answer is NO to expose ECC then I think they need to setup two web dispatchers protecting EP and ECC servers behind firewall.
User -> Web Dispatcher1 -> Portal (behind fiirewall) -> Accesses ESS iViews -> Web Dispatcher 2 -> ECC (behind firewall)

How to let SAP user use SSO to access Application in DMZ?
Hi All,
Our J2EE application is running on a system in DMZ which can not be connected with LDAP. So I am wondering if it's possible to let SAP user use SSO to access our application.
After talking with my colleague I think the only way is to import SSO public key to our WebAS and create user in UME and then assign user to the corresponding public key, but anybody know where to download SSP verification file or is it allowed to download and import into another system at all?
Regards,
BinHi,
Take a look at this example, it uses property nodes to select tha
active plot and then changes the color of that plot.
If you want to make the number of plots dynamic you could use a for
loop and an array of color boxes.
I hope this helps.

Unable to see assign users or groups option under a groupin Shared services
I have a bizzare issue related to Shared services.
In Application 1 (on PROD env), after I select the group, right-click and go to properties, under "group members" and "user members" tabs, I do not see the options to assign access to any of the existings groups (we have about 50+ groups). I can only view the existing users/groups, even though I have been given admin/proviosioning rights, while the other admin can assign access to the same application.
While for Application 2 (on DEV) I am able to see all these options and I am able to assign users and groups to any of the groups. I do not see them as a browser issue, as I have opened both these links on the same IE window, but on different tabs.
Unfortunately, I can't test App1 on TEST/DEV, as we do not have its copy on here, it is all on PROD and App2 is only on DEV.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
PaulI would of thought it was provision related, can you try setting up another user as a test with the correct provisioning such as provisioning manager of the different product areas and see if the new user works.
If it does then it points an issue with your account or the way it has been provisioned.
Cheers

Assign User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users
Hi EM Gurus,
Has anyone worked with not standard scenarios in SCEM?
They are working well but I can't access them on interface web.
In selection page (search page after logon), where choose tracking scenarios, only standard scenarios appear although I have assigned both scenarios to the user and made same configuration; Assigned and Defined Web Interface Transactions, Configured Fields for User Profiles, Defined User Profiles, Assigned User Profiles and Web Interface Transactions to Users.
But only Standard Scenarios appear as choice of tracking scenarios that are displayed to the user as a dropdown box on the selection screen after logging on to the Web interface.
Has anyone accessed not standard scenarios on interface web??
Help, please!
Thanks a lot.
Rodrigo FreitasHello Rodrigo,
if you have assigned the scenarios to your user in transaction /SAPTRX/UCUSER you must go to the admin page and reload the profile manager.
/admin in the URL of the WCL instead /ehsearch.
Afterwards you should see them also in the drop-down box.
Best regards,

Proxy users - oracle 9.2 - accessing via sql plus
I may be totally off track here, but here is what I want
to do.
I have 2 schema's (schema A and schema B).
schema A has multiple objects (tables) within it.
I want to allow another user, schema B to access these objects. Can I use the Proxy User settings to do this? By going in and allowing Schema B to proxy for this user (shcema a). "ALTER user schemaA GRANT CONNECT THROUGH schemaB"
I try this and then go into sqlplus and log in as
schemaB, but I can't see any of schemaA's objects.
Am I missing somthing here?
In the past I have always assigned the proper grants to a role and assinged them to schema B as needed which works fine. However, it seemed to me if the proxy user worked the way I thought it would you could do things for an entire schema at one time instead of object by object using the grants.
Thanks

Webpart button that assigns user to list item
I need a button event that when clicked assigns the user to the list item that is selected from a checkbox. All from a webpart. Unfortunately for me corporate will not let us use Visual Studio (security access to critical info and what not).
I have access to InfoPath and SharePoint designer content editor and such. I tried circumventing it all together and built a button in the form that only shows when in edit mode from the webpart. The button simply assigns user to the people picker, which shows
in InfoPath preview. But when I try to do the same in the live edit able list item the people picker just blinks and nothing fills the text field. I even tried using a simple text box which worked but only for userid() not display name. Anybody know
why people picker field appears blank in the live version? Or can someone point me to where I can build an outright webpart button that fills my assignto field? I don't quite understand how to do it. What I have seen has been done with visual studio. Any help
would be great.Hi Jack,
First of all, you can not create a coded web part using SPD.
What you can do is create custom page (aspx) and do inline coading. (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/211d3c10-ab83-473f-95b4-83b0174f9dd7/how-to-add-custom-web-part-to-sharepoint-page-by-using-sharepoint-designer?forum=sharepointgeneralprevious)
Custom page allows you to add c# code with enable page compiling with
<PageParserPaths>
<PageParserPath VirtualPath="/PageLibrary/MyCustomPage.aspx" CompilationMode="Always" AllowServerSideScript="true" />
</PageParserPaths>
OR
Write all into Content editor web part on that page.(http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/f6d8c243-71af-4a98-bdb6-750d4dd9dc27/check-box-and-button-in-content-editor-web-part?forum=sharepointgeneralprevious)
Here you can use Javascript only and not "c#" due to security issue.(http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/74b676f0-3509-4b11-8725-b9f2626371e9/content-editor-web-part-and-c?forum=sharepointdevelopmentlegacy)
