Assignment of measuring point category to functional location category

Hi,
If i am not doing performance based maintenance planning for functional locations then is there any need to assign/put measuring point category to functional location category during customization ?
Regards,
Vivek

You could also use measurement points for Condition based maintenance functionality or for Capturing measurement readings not relevant for Maintenance planning. if your business process doesn't need both along with Performance based maintenance, its not required to assign the same.

  • Update Measurement Points on Functional Locations

    Hello Experts,
I need create a custom program to update (add/delete/change) the measurement point's POSITIONS on functional locations. Basically the users want to clean up the functional locations which have some wrong data in them. Since I am very new to this functionality area, Can anybody please let me know - Is there a FM/Bapi to update the Measurement Point Positions on Functional Locations?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks.

I think I will have to write a BDC on IK01/IK02 transactions. Not sure, if we have a better solution.

  • Measuring point External Number range

    Dear Masters,
I am trying to create the external number range for one of my measuring point type. Is it not possible to do so? If no why? If yes how?
    Thanks to all in advance.

    Hello Vaibhav,
I have already followed the steps given by you only I cannot find the assignment of measuring point category to the number range. I have also done the number range assignment for equipment and functional location but there it exists here it does not.
It is also showing me the error of external number while creating the new measuring point. Please do guide about the assignment to the number range.
    Thanks again.

  • Measuring Points extraction

    Hi all,
I’m trying to use the <b>PM_MEASUREMENT</b> DataSource. It works pretty well with Measuring Points linked to Functional location. However, I have some <b>Measuring Points</b> that are linked to <b>Equipments</b> and those <b>Equipments</b> have no connection to Functional <b>Location</b>. For <b>these Measuring</b> Points no data is being extracted at all.
Is there any restriction with the DataSource PM_MEASUREMENT that makes it only to extract data for Measuring Points linked to Functional Location?
If not, does any of you have any idea about what is going on here?
    Thank you very much,
    Claudiomar

    Thanks for your replies.
Saurabh: High volumes of serialized products are produced that are serviceable under warranty.
We are creating Serial Numbers for each model of the Product. We can attach Master Warranty and capture Warranty period for each Serial Number. But for creating Measuring Point / Counters, I have to generate an "Equipment Number" (via the Equipment View) for each Serial Number. If it is possible to do the same without creating Eqpt Num it will help.
Pete: I checked that link you had shown. But in T Code IQ01, I find Serial Number is not figuring in the list "Measuring Point Object (Obj.Categ. in Gen.Status Management)" and there is no IMG set up for this.
    Request clarifications pls.
    Thanks.

  • Assign equipment from hierarchy to functional location

    Hi all,
I'm new to PM so the question might be a bit stupid. But I have got a hierarchy for a piece of equipment. The highest level is a recorder. The lower levels are sensors that i need to calibrate. I now want to assign the sensors (lower level) to functional locations. It can be possible that each lower level is assigned to another functional location. Is this possible? I now get the error message that the piece of equipment is assigned to a hierarchy.
    Thanks for your help

This can be achieved but obviously the equipment hierarchy would be disturbed because the equipment can either be installed on a functional location or a superior equipment not both the two. What you can do is the functional location for the superior equipment is to be extended so as to cover the subordinate equipments and obviously there would not be any direct link between the equipment and the superior equipment.
Equipment: Recorder installed on FLoc: Plant-Recorder
    Equipment: Sensor installed on Floc:Plant-Recorder-Sensor
that is how you can achieve it but the relationship between the equipment and superior equipment is to be compromised.

  • Reg: measuring point creation and measuring point counter creation

how to create measuring point and measuring point counter.
what is the difference between these two.
    what is measuring point category,
    what is measuring point
    what is measuring point object
    what is measuring position.
can anyone explain me in an easy for better understanding.

Firstly a Measuring point is nothing but, a factor which you measure on an equipment/FL. (Temperature, Vibration etc)
Then, a measuring point is created either on a Functional location or on an Equipment.
IK01 is the T-code for creating it.
If it is for F/L you have to use IFL as measuring point object, when it is an equipment you use IEQ
Generally these two will be in use.
In the IK01 screen if you tick the counter checkbox, the MP becomes a counter.
Example for simple MP is temperature.
And example for a Counter MP is 'Litres of petrol consumed'
In the first case you don't need to add the temperature measurements, whereas in the petrol consumption you may wish to have the cumulative value of readings taken for a period of time.
The measuring position: Example : If you are measuring the temperature of a Motor on the Drive side, you may put 'Drive End' in this field, or similar many applications.
    Category would group these MPs.
In case of need you may define in customisation a sep[arate MP category.
Then each time you read a MP through IK11 or other methods a Measuring Document is created.

  • How to see class/characteristics of measuring points in list editing screen

    Dear Sirs,
I have created meauring points for several functional locations. These measuring points have been assigned classes and characteristics.
How can I see these charactristics against measuring points in list edition screen(ALV Grid).
    Thanks and Regards,
    R N Sabat.

    Hi R N Sabat,
As per my knowledge , no std SAP transaction will show you asked details, You need to go for development of this report.
Please check with your technical team to get this in to ALV report.

  • Diffrence between Measuring point and Counter

What is the difference between Measuring Point and Counter ?
    -Md

    Hi,
    _Measuring Point_
Measuring points in the SAP System describe the physical locations at which a condition is described, (for example, Temparature and Pressure on a Boiler ). The characteristics associated with the measuring points which record the value can only be numeric characteristic. Measuring points are located on technical objects, in other words, on pieces of equipment or functional locations. For every measuring point there should be some characteristics to measure the reading.
To enable you to differentiate more easily between the individual measuring points and provide them with a unit, you assign each measuring point to a characteristic.
The parameters like Running Hours, Temperature, Pressure etc,, on equipments can also be mapped under measuring point.
    Counter:
A type of measuring point, where a continuous reading is recorded (e.g. Milometer). In case the measuring point is a counter, it needs to be defined likewise.
Counter readings are taken at counters at particular intervals and in particular measurement units.
For Example, counter readings for kilometers driven or electricity used

  • Unable to Inport Measurement points and Measure documents from R/3 to clien

    Hi,
I am not able to import measuring points and measuring documents into the client device even after assigning the measurement point varaint in the back-end config.
    Please help!
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kanwar

    Hello Kanwar,
I am thinking of two reasons at the moment.
    1. The equipments/Functional location which you had downloaded to your device were not having measurement points. If this is the case, you need to make sure that corresponding Equip/FL's are there on client (provided case 2 is not valid)
    2. The measurement points were not replicated. Hope you had checked MEREP_207 table for the required measurement points.
    Hope this helps.

  • Auto Update of measuring point/document

    Dear all,
I have one issue over here.Measuring point/document is not updating automatically after productiuon order confirmation . I tried with following steps
    1) Created the equipment as test equipment -->created measuring point as a counter ---> maintain the usage value formula SAPF02 in the PRT tab . Unit of measurement for the characteristics and base unit of measure of material are same
    2) Then i have assigned this eqipment as a PRT in the routing of material .
    Which steps i am missing
    Thanks

    Hi
I had faced the same problem  when I used SAPF02 then I did following changes.
    Created formula like SAP_09 * PRTSTD / SAP_08
    SAP_09 : Operation Qty
    PRTSTD : PRT Standard Value
    SAP_08:   Base Qty.
Also make sure the measuring point category should me T in IK02( PRT life counter)

  • Standing order - Functional Location

    Hi guys,
I have very simple question. What is a standing order for a functional location?
I currently have a requirement to automatically perform a goods issue movement 261(GI for order) and we are doing it by creating a characteristic field in the functional location.
We have a development that when a fuel consumption is done, the posting goes to the order it has saved as a characteristic.
However I went into the IH01 transaction and saw this Standing order field, and well if this field can work as an open order associated with a functional location then we wouldn't have any need for this development.
What is a standing order? Can we assign a standing order to a functional location so that it always posts material costs related to that functional location to it?
    Thanks and best regards!
    Fernando

    Fernando,
Its basically a Order to continuously collect costs for on-going work, instead of creating a  separate work order for each activity. Its often used in Fleet process to collect fuel consumption costs, when there is a need to know , at any point of time the total fuel consumption cost by vehicle/location.
The standing order field in the FL or Equipment is generally used when you want to default the settlement rule for the order with this value(Auto generate), when this object is associated to the order.
You could use this field for identification of fuel consumption costs for the vehicle , just be sure that for other maintenance orders for this object the standing order is not provided as default  value in settlement rule by accident.

  • Propose Measuring point automatically in IW42

    Hi,
I have assigned a measuring point as PRT to the operation of an Order. During confirmation in IW42, after entering the order number system proposes the operation details and I need to click button meas.points Inspn planning to display the measuring point assigned to the operation. But now my requirement is, system should propose the measuring point automatically, along with operation details, when I enter the order number in IW42 as user will forget to click button meas.points Inspn planning.
Could anybody suggest how this requirement can be met?
    Thanks and regards,
    Basavaraj

    Hi James,
    Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I have configured confirmation profile and same has been selected in IW42. I can see screen area for measurement document in IW42. Now my requirement is, I want the system to display the measuring point automatically, which is assigned to operation as PRT, when I enter the order number in IW42 ans press enter.
    Thanks and regards,
    Basavaraj.

  • Measuring point vs notification

    Hi,Friends
When ever entering values in measuring document(IK11) it has to generate notification instead of warning if the value is more than target value already i assigned in measuring point.how to do it.

    Dear All,
How to delete Measuring point of an equipment for which already measuring document is created?
    Regards,
    Samir

    Dear Samir,
You can inactive the measuring point so that further measuring document creation is not possible. And it be available in equipment for history.
    Follow the steps:
    1) Run the transaction IK02.
    2) Enter the measuring point number.
    3) Select the following path: Measuring Point (Menu Bar) ->   Functions->    Active<-->Inactive-> Inactive
    4) Try for creating meas. doc., it will not be possible for this meas. point.

  • Issue Transferrering Business Entity to Functional Location

    Dear All,
There are problems trying to update a Business Entities to produce
Functional Locations in Plant Maintenance where the BE was originally
created with the 'FL not automatically created' box checked.
Now in change mode (FO22), unchecked the 'FL not automatically created' box.
For the BE currently being updated a message is being produced
indicating 'Functional location 01-40775 generated or assigned' followed
by one that says 'Functional location 01-40775 does not exist' resulting
in not being able to save the change.
Can you please suggest me about this.
