Assistive touch is a 'hot option' for my iPhone 5s

iOS 8.1.2 heats-up my iPhone5s with 'assistive touch ON', is this me-only issue? With iOS 8 update my 5s has been infrequently heating up in instances like 'improperly plugged-in headphone connector' and others. This has been addressed with 8.0.1 and other minor updates but battery draining has remained an 'ever lasting problem'.
Throw me your thoughts..

The screen is glass. Go to any phone forum where the ecreen is a glass touch screen and you will find similar complaints. It is not just an iPhone "problem" but any phone wilth a glass display.
There is a good chance any phone will crack if dropped. Price does not matter.

Has anyone here tried the next-day-retail-pickup option for an iPhone 5?

Right now I have my iPhone 5 ordered online through Apple.   It's not expected for a few more weeks, alas.
Two days after I placed that order , Apple announced that you could order online after 10pm for next day pickup at a retail store.
I called Apple to ask if I could simply "convert" my existing order to a next day pickup.
I was told that I'd have to (1) cancel the online order (2) maybe wait a day for my upgrade-pricing eligibility to reset and THEN (3) place the order online after 10pm.
BUT - she also added that even the next-day-pickup orders were subject to stores' inventory.
So, I called my local store to ask about availability.   Rather than telling me anything about their current inventory, the gal there just repeated that I should order online after 10pm.
Of course, the entire point of my doing this would be to reduce my wait time (not roll the dice on MAYBE reducing my wait time.)
Yet apparently my only option is to "step out of line" with my existing online order before I can even see how long the line is for in-store pickup.
If it turns out I'll have to keep trying again every night after 10pm in the HOPE that maybe this time there'll be an iPhone 5 available for the next day, then I go from my current 2-3 week wait to a god-only-knows-how-long wait, with nightly online order attempts.
There's no way for me to adequately express my distaste for this catch-22 without using verboten language.
If anyone has an idea how I can TRY the next-day-pickup trick WITHOUT first squandering the 2 weeks I've already been in the online queue - please let me know.

Traveling to the Bahamas and Hot Spots for my iPhone

Can I use my phone in Nassau, Bahamas? And what charges/plans are there or will there possibly be?
Also, can someone explain a hot spot for me and is it free? I notice that I have to contact Verizon to get it set up, which makes me think it isn't free. I do have internet at my home.

Options for using iPhone 3G and Hotmail Outlook Connector to sync contacts?

I reviewed some posts on this topic and searched other forums, but still have yet to see a real solution to this problem.
I am using Win XP and Outlook 2003 with the Hotmail Outlook Connector to manage my Hotmail account. My default calendar and contacts DB in Outlook is located in the same mailstore as the Hotmail data. This is not POP or IMAP as unfortunately Hotmail requires it's own protocol (Outlook Connector) to manage the email account.
Also Hotmail will NOT allow any creation of a .pst or data file to store data that may be synced with a 3rd party device.
Can someone please assist me with finding a solution so that I can continue to use my Hotmail account, with Outlook 2003 and simply synch my default calenday and contacts data with my iPhone.
Note: I had a client with a similar issue using an HTTP/RPC Exchange mailbox and also an IMAP GMail connection in the same Outlook client. We simply made the Exchange account default and stored all contacts/calendar data there. The iphone synchs this data perfectly and the client and iPhone utilize both mailboxes perfectly.
Outlook Express is not an options for me. Thanks for helping.

What is the best "insurance" option for an iPhone?

Hey all. So I'm almost at the point where I can finally afford getting myself an iPhone and I definitely don't have the funds to be able to replace it if something were to go wrong. So I'm wondering what is the best insurance plan for an iPhone? I'm not the clumsiest person, but I have been known to drop a gadget every once in a great while and I definitely don't want to break an iPhone.
Apple obviously has AppleCare, but that doesn't cover physical damage. I know Best Buy's covers accidental damage, but that's 15 bucks a month...more than I'd like but that's a nice incentive. Are there any other good options that would cover physical damage? I used to work for Best Buy and I've never had any trouble with their BTP plans, I'm just not a huge fan of the idea of paying 15 bucks a month. Any other plans I don't know about?

I bought a laptop policy from them around 2002, but since I never had to claim on it, cannot speak as to their customer service or anything. A google on "smartphone insurance" may turn up more specialized companies.
I recently noticed, and it was total news to me, that one of those credit cards I picked up in college for the free t-shirt and have had for 10-15 years, includes insurance coverage for my mobile phone. This particular card is branded AT&T and doubles as a calling card, and I'm guessing that's why. I haven't checked into the details, but people might keep an eye out for something random like that.
I should ask my renter's insurance about the phone.

There is no mail-in option for my iphone 4s 64gb UK

Recently I was trying to order the mail-in service for my friend's iphone 4s 64gb, and it seemed that there is no mail-in option listed at all, only "reserve apointment" and "express line". The next minute I have tried entering the Serial of my iPad 3 as well as my iphone 4s, the option appeared in the list again... The thing is that its a paint it the arse for me to go up to the nearest Apple store, wich is miles awat from me. Please give any suggestions asap. Cheers!

Chamar, that is not true at all! Read carefully what I have written in my question once again. I said, other phones (my iphone 4s, my 2nd friend iphone 4, my ipad 3) do have that option, but suddenly not my 1st friend's iphone 4s. Last time I have used Apple's mail-in service was about month ago, had problems with the ipad 2 ligt leakes, and I got a new one that time.

This seems like a software bug to me, or something flakey in the appletv. Plugging in an ethernet cable shouldn't blow out a wifi chip, but mine is behaving the exact same way. The software bug is it won't even recognize it has wifi capabilities anymore to tell you if it's a problem with wifi or not. It just removed the menu option and won't give it back.
The same thing just happened to me. On a whim, since the wifi was a little choppy, I plugged in the ethernet and the ethernet did not work in that room.
I can plug it into the living room ethernet and it works just fine, but now the wifi option seems now and forever gone.
I can't switch it back to wifi. It just worked fine on wifi for months, just a little choppy on some things. Now since plugging in an ethernet cable just once the AppleTV erased the wifi options from the menu. I tried restoring, resetting, everything and now it only recognizes ethernet options and will not give a wifi option at all. Since the living room ethernet works I updated, reset, restored, still, nothing gives a wifi option, even when I unplug the ethernet and reboot.
It seems like a real poor sensor to detect whether there is ethernet plugged in or not, and poor menu options not letting you choose wifi if it thinks there may be an ethernet plugged in...

Set Options for 2 iPhone Family?

If anyone has been down this road...
I only have 1 account on my iMac that my wife and I share. Each have separate email accounts.
The ideal setup would be:
1) Both phones syncing to same address book, but, having a "family" group that syncs to both phones and a "business" group that syncs to only my phone, and a second business group that only syncs to my wife's phone.
2) Same type of setup with iCal. Have a common calendar with birthdates, etc. that syncs to both phones, and a separate calendar for business appointments that sync to only my phone, and same for wife's business appointments.
Has anyone done this? Or do I need separate iMac login accounts for each phone? I do plan to setup MobileMe accounts soon if that makes a difference. Thanks for any feedback.

I've been trying .mac and does not quite get me where I want to be with two iphones, 4 macs. 3 macs are for home and 1 from work.
I've been using spanning sync which has solved my problems. This will require a google calendar account which is free. Spanning Sync is $25.
Each mac has a iCal for them names for each one or what ever you choose. I then setup a sep cal under the one google cal account, just like ical you can have mutiple calendars. Each iCal then has the same so that my family can see my work calendar and I can see there calendars.. Color coded and even syncs to iphone.

Using an iPhone 4s with T-mobile there is no setting for Personal Hotspot. Is the a hidden one somewhere?

You should back up the iPad and transfer purchases. Then back up the iPhone and transfer purchases there as well. Then restore the iPad from the iPhone back up to get the code. Once you get the code then restore the iPad from the original backup you created of the iPad.

What can you do if your home button, lock button and assistive touch button no longer work?

My lock button stopped working so i activated the assisted touch, then all of a sudden my assisted touch stopped working and so did my home button. The screenshot and gestures works on the assisted touch but if i press for it to lock or go back to home it does not work. Also if i hold my home button i can get the voice control up, but it just doesn't go back to my home screen. Is there a way to fix this?

Even if they don't seem to work, this will probably work:
hold the HomeButton and the PowerButton pressed at the same time, keep holding, ignore everything on the screen, keep holding, when you see the white Apple logo let go and wait until the iPhone has started completely.

Sorry, iOS 4.2.1 is the end of the line for your phone. There are no further iOS updates available, thus no way to do what you want. You'll have to replave your phone or get your Home button replaced.
