Associate anyconnect client software with specific profile?
Hi folks,
I want to beta test a new release of the Windows AnyConnect client software with a small number of users. We use the web deployment feature. Is there a way for us to associate a specific version of the client software with a profile? This seems like the easiest way to release the new software to a small group of people.
Thanks
Pat
The only "AutoUpdate" Value in my profile for 3.x is: true
I think if you put the new AC image in flash it's and point to it in the configuration, it's going to update all the clients - not just a specified tunnel or group. I am not 100% on this though.
Is manually installing it in your test environment an option? This is what what we did then exported profile from the firewall and placed it in the directory for the test client.

Monitoring Users session with specific profiles
Hi,
I created a specific profile that terminates a session with idle time 4 minutes. I would like to know how to monitoring which sessions are been disconnected by Oracle.
Thanks in advance, enable auditing by using
alter system set audit_trail = db scope=spfile
and bounce
Then issue audit connect
The dba_audit_session view will have the reason why the process was disconnected.

How to mass deploy Windows InTune client software with GPO
I have been looking for mass deploy Windows InTune client software. The only option that I had was with GPO. As we know the exe is not possible to deploy with GPO. Ok, we can play arouund with ZAP files or tranform exe to msi. In my opinion this is
rather »walk-around« the »enginering aproach. So, how can we mass deploy InTune client with GPO. We need to extract the msi from exe. The command is »Windows_Intune_Setup.exe /Extract <destination-directory> ». The command extracts exe to x86 and x64
client msi install. Then we can deploy throw GPO. The »WindowsIntune.accountcert« file must be in the same folder share as described in document http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj676611.aspx.
I have tested the deployment, and works good.Hi,
Thanks for your sharing here! And this should be post on the Group Policy forum, I will move it there!

AnyConnect Client Profile in ASDM
I am trying to configure a client profile under the AnyConnect Client Profile tab in the ASDM but keep getting an error message stating "Check that you have a proper AnyConnect package installed in the AnyConnect Client Software menu. Also check that your ASDM username have enough privelege."
My user has sufficient privilege but I am not sure which AnyConnect software I should have to enable this. Righ now I have
anyconnect-win-3.0.10055-k9.pkg installed.
This is a lab setup using GNS3.
Any ideas?Hi Marius,
I would assume you are running ASA 8.0x, right?
Please check this out:
"If you wish to use the ASDM-integrated Profile Editor to configure any of AnyConnect's components, you must use ASDM version 6.4(1) or later."
Security Appliance Software Requirements
So at this point, I would suggest to try to upgrade your ASDM to 6.4 or try with AnyConnect 2.5.
Let me know.
Thanks.

This seems to have been the pattern since I "upgraded" to 10.7.4... any suggestions???
Boot up holding down Control+r and open DiskUtility and check and repair you HDD for a start.
Then try making a new user account and booting in that and see if the problem persists.

ZCM 103 RC1: DLU with Roaming Profile on W2K3 doesnt work
No change from Beta2 to RC1:
- DLU-Policy assigned to a User-Source on XP-Clients works (with Roaming Profile Policy to a Netware Server)
Do need the same on a W2K3 (Terminalserver), but:
- DLU doesn't work if the policy is assigned to a User-Source
- DLU works only if assigned to the device AND if the Reg-Key "AllowPassiveModeLoginOnServers" is set.
BUT: in this case the user-source assigned policy for the Roaming Profile doesn't work!
How it will be work?
(Do need this while working on a project for introducing ZCM to a citrix-farm.)

Assigning AnyConnect Client Profiles based on the machine?
I have an ASA running 8.2.x code with AnyConnect 2.4.x.I have both Radius and LDAP (AD) AAA available.
If a user connects from a company owned laptop, I want to push down AnyConnect client ProfileA (with scripts to map drives etc...) and network ACL's set A.
If a user connects from any other computer, I want to push down AnyConnect client ProfileB (no scripts etc...) and network ACL's set B.
What I would like to do is CSD to do a machine certificate check (for presence of a cert from my private CA) and to assign a EndPoint Policy attribute (Managed on successful check or Unmanaged on failure). I can then use DAP to tailor the ACL's that get set.
It seems like the only way to handle AnyConnect client profiles is with Group-Policy. Using LDAP I can assign a user to a Group-Policy, but I have no way of determining is they are coming in from a company laptop or not when assigning the Group-Policy. DAP can not assign an AnyConnect client profile.
If at all possible, I do not users to have to pick a conenction profile or use different URL's.
Is there anyway to accomplish this?Hi
Did you ever resolve this issue? I am trying to assign a specific IP address based on the hostname or machine cert but the certificate matching doesn't seem to look at the machine cert.
Has anyone got any idea how I could do this?
thanks

Anyconnect Client profile files deleted after client upgrade
L.S.
I am running anyconnect version 3.1.02040 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine with UAC turned on.
The ASA I am connecting to is a 5510 running ASA OS 8.4.5
The problem I have is the following:
We are using machine certificate authentication combined with RADIUS user authentication.
The machine certificates are stored in the Machine/Personal container in the local machine.
By default, the anyconnect client does not have the rights to access this certificate store when run by the user in non-elevated mode.
We do not want to have the user run the client as administrator (in elevated mode) all the time.
Therefor we have made an Anyconnect Client profile that sets the Certificate Store Override parameter to true and attached it to the group policy.
With this XML in place (in the C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Profile folder)
the users can connect to the ASA and authenticate using the certificate without the need for elevated rights. This is all working perfectly.
The anyconnect client and XML file are distributed to the clients using a software distribution system (Microsoft SCCM).
The problem happens when I update the Anyconnect package on the ASA. I recently updated the package to release 3.1.03103. This is what happens:
The user can connect using the 3.1.02040 client (certicate authentication works without elevation, since the XML Anyconnect Client Profile is present)
The Anyconnect software updates itself to the new version during the connection, pushed from the ASA.
The VPN is established.
However, the XML file that is associated with the group policy is deleted during the upgrade process and not placed back in the Profile folder on the client after the upgrade.
This means the user cannot connect without using elevated rights the next time he wants to connect.
If he uses elevated rights after the upgrade, the XML is pushed back from the ASA normally, allowing the user to connect without elevation again any subsequent times.
Is there any way to push the XML profile to the client from the ASA after the upgrade of the Anyconnect software?Hi poiu720408 ,
1. You need to set up a web-url or group-alias under the group policy as web have enable the "tunnel-group-list enable" under the webvpn configuration. So once the user connect to the proper URL/alias the profile will be applied.
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/asa-5500-x-series-next-generation-firewalls/98580-enable-group-dropdown.html
2. Yes the Anycopnnect store a "Cache " information on the PC , if you want to clan up you have to go to the anyconnect folder on C: on the PC and delete the global_preferences.xml profile.
3. This behavior is totally expected and they should disappear after a some minutes , however if you wan to force this , you can use the command "vpn-sessionsdb logoff webvpn noconfirm"
Please rate helpful post !
Hope this helps

"Anyconnect client profile" option missing in ASDM
Hello,
I'm in the process of setting up Anyconnect on the ASA, and have successfully updated the licensing, as well as uploaded the anyconnect pkg for web deployment. I enabled anyconnect on the outside interface and can now have the ASA push the client to the machine. Works fine. However, I want to add backup servers that the client will attempt to reach in the event the primary is down. I understand that "client profiles" can be created to customize settings like this. Problem is, when I follow the configuration guide with instructions for making client profiles at this location:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect30/administration/guide/ac02asaconfig.html#wp1289905
It shows that I should have an option for Anyconnect Client Profile and Anyconnect Client Settings.
I don't have either of those options in ASDM. Here's what mine shows:
I have another "SSL Client profiles" option, but it doesn't seem the same as the options above.
Can someone assist with what I need to do to get the Client Profiles option to be available so I can add backup server information to the client? Thanks! Thanks for the response Marvin,
It shows the ASA and ASDM versions are 8.2 and 6.2 respectively.
Result of the command: "sh version"
Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.2(1)
Device Manager Version 6.2(1)
Result of the command: "sh act | i Ess"
AnyConnect Essentials : Enabled
I don't have the premium license, just the Anyconnect Essentials and Mobile licenses. I would imagine essentials should have the same profile configuration options, though. If it is in fact because I'm running an older version of ASDM, do I need to update both the ASA IOS and ASDM together, or can I just upgrade ASDM on its own? Thanks again. -
ASDM Anyconnect client profile - unable to edit preferences
Hi,
I have a functioning vpn set up, my problem is that I'm trying to set up anyconnect start before login. I navigate to the anyconnect client profile section in the remote access vpn and create a profile xml file by clicking the add button. I can add a profile but as soon as I save the file I can no longer edit it. The edit button is greyed out and if I double click the file the asdm returns the error: "Input is not a well-formed, schema-compliant XML file."
I'm running the following versions of software:
asdm: 7.1(5)100
anyconnect: 3.1.05152
asa: 8.2(3) <----asa hardware doesn't support running a newer version.
I have not been able to find any info on this particular problem but maybe someone here can help?Hello Ryan,
Do you run into the same problem if you upload AnyConnect 2.5 and perform the same task?
Also, have you tried this operation from a different machine with and old JAVA version like 1.6?

Hi All,
I am at my wit's end trying to troubleshoot this, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
We are having serious stability issues with App-V 5.0 SP2 RDS in our environment with User Profile Disks enabled.
We have applied the latest hotfix but the issues persist.
The main problems are:
1. Periodically the client seems to become corrupted and all applications stop working for all users. All applications including the official Microsoft Office 2013 ones - not just our packages.
The symptoms are the same as if I change the App-V Client Service account to run under a user account instead of SYSTEM, so it suggests a file access issue. The log files also hint at this, and one of there errors is similar to this:
The virtual application 'C:\Users\rds.user9\AppData\Local\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\A3EF9C01-C0E9-4AC5-B21F-DB9B1D2F700C\Root\Mindjet\MindManager 14\MindManager.exe' could not be started because the
App-V Subsystem 'Virtual Filesystem' could not be initialized. {error: 0x6740090A-0x20003}
Once this problem occurs the only way I have found to fix it is to either completely remove and reinstall the client, or (perhaps this is the big clue) rename the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Volumes , unpublish
an application, then republish said application.
I don't even think it matters which application gets published. The point seems to be that this 'Volumes' key gets rewritten.
I am highly suspicious that our issues are caused by User Profile disks in our RDS environment, as when I disable them on our staging collection all of these issues seem to disappear.
I have made sure all of the servers have permissions on the share (folder and share permissions). It doesn't seem to make a difference.
2. Some application fail completely with User Profile Disks enabled. If we switch the setting from "Store all settings and data on the user profile disk" to "Store Only the following folders" there seems to be some improvement,
in that at least one application that fails on the other setting starts to work.
3. We have already set that NTFS 8 dot 3 reg fix some time ago.
SOS!
We have gone live this week (not my call) and this is having disasterous consequences. :(
Thanks in advance,
JohnHi,
Thanks for your response.
I did try this a while ago without success, although it may be worth revisiting with SP2 applied.
I have left this client now.
I left them a Powershell script that deletes HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Volumes
and triggers an Unpublish/Publish of an application we have deployed to all of the servers.
This seems to work, but a fix would be better than a workaround.
Not really my problem now though - I did my best.
Thanks,
John -
ISE 1.2 Posture Assessment with AnyConnect Client
Hi Experts,
I need clarity for posture assessment with AnyConnect client. I understood that we had traditional NAC agent with ISE 1.1.
Since new Anyconnect version 4 has come which is used for ISE 1.3 posture assessment however I am not sure if I can use Anyconnect 4 with ISE 1.2 ? Can you please put light on this ?
if not , do I need to upgrade to ISE 1.3 ? what is the process to upgrade to ISE 1.3 ?
Thanks in advanceISE can provision clients with agent and configure agent profiles. You have Client-provisioning policies that enable users to download and install resources on client devices.(Windows and Mac OS X NAC Agents, Cisco NAC Web Agent.

Anyconnect clients with intermittant timeout/high MS
I'm having a problem where some clients are pinging servers on my lan just fine, but every so often it hangs with about 2500-3000ms then continues just fine for another 30-40 pings. If I connect with another machine running the same version of Anyconnect (the latest version) it pings consistenty.
Noticing a lot of strange issues with Anyconnect recently - is there any server side logging that can be enabled to gain more insight on what's going on with specific clients? I had to reboot another ASA earlier today to remedy a problem where some new clients could connect but couldn't ping anything...while others would work like nothing was wrong...connecting/disconnecting like usual.
Thanks in advanceHi,
I wil be difficult to figure out exactly what is going on without a TAC case but here are a couple of pointers that might help you to see what is going on:
1.) Filtered buffered logs on the ASA itself.
To verify if the traffic is dropped on the ASA or not, you can setup buffered logging:
logging buffer-size
logging buffered debugging
logging on
Then, check the IP address which is assigned to your AnyConnect client which is unable to pass traffic and check the entries related to it in the logs:
show logging | i
2.) Check the statistics of the AnyConnect session on the ASA
This command will show you a couple of counters related to your session and might give you a hint of what is wrong:
show vpn-sessiondb detail svc filter a-ipaddress
You can replace a-ipaddress by p-ipaddress or name if you want to filter on public IP of the client or username.
3.) Logs generated by the AnyConnect client itself
If you launch the event viewer from a Windows host where AnyConnect is installed ("eventvwr" command), you'll see that there is a new log type named "Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client". The client will write in there all the logs related to your connection.
If you are using Linux, the logs will either be stored under /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog.
For OSX, it would be /var/log/system.log.
If you still don't see where the issue is after those steps. my advise would be to open a TAC case to have the issue investigated.

ADSM AnyConnect Client Profile Editor will not close...
When I fire up ADSM and go into the AnyConnect Client Profile Editor It will not let me close the Editor.
If I go it and jsut hit cancel, or OK, or the X, nothing happens. The only way to exit is to Close down Java.
I've run ADSM on a few machines all with the same results.
ADSM Version 6.3(4)
ThanksI Upgraded to ADSM 7.1(2)
This resolved my issue. -
I have several friends and family who are looking for a central place to access information from ( Pictures, home movies etc ). So I am considering setting up an OSX Lion Server. There are some other things I can use it for as well.
Here is my question:
If I were to purchase the Apple Remote Desktop with Unlimited licenses, would I be able to install the client software on each of there computers/laptops and have them remote desktop into the server? Or would I have to install the Admin software on each? Do they intend it to be used strictly as one admin to access many clients?
I always could set up a network drive so they can log in and just see the folders they have created with space on the server I provide them. But I want them to be able to log an and actually use it as a Remote Desktop.
Thanks,
EricDave,
Thanks for the feedback. I understand that ARD is meant for Remote Administration, but I was not sure if it could be used for my purpose as well. The reason I was looking to do it this was was because I read several articles online about security and performance issues with setting up VNC and activating screen sharing. Unless I am misunderstood.
As far as people's activities on the server, mostly it is going to be used as a place for them to store their media. I will only allow own person ( Who I trust and I know wont botch the server ), to run applications. Everyone else will be restricted to uploading and downloading content to their designated account on the server as well as a community share on the server.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Eric
