Association/authorization policy needs updating
The limit of 10 devices associated (including up to 5 computers authorized) with a single Apple ID needs to be updated, as it is no longer adequate for families of loyal Apple users. Our family of 5 has no less than 14 devices in our household, and I find it unfair and frustrating that I cannot have each device associated with the same Apple ID. Most families have multiple devices, especially if you have children in school with MacBooks, iPads, etc. A few years ago, 10 would have been adequate, but not anymore. Please, Apple, eliminate the device limit, or at least increase the limit to something more usable.
This is a user-to-user forum; you are not addressing anyone from Apple here.
I do empathize with your situation but it is most likely not Apple who wants the device limitation, but the copyright owners of the media they sell.
Keep in mind that an infinite number of iOS devices can be synced via USB with one iTunes library so it is not necessary to have every device associated with the iTunes Store Apple ID. Some of them, like, say, the iPads, can be signed out of the mobile iTunes Store and the entertainment content can be synced via USB.

Custom OWSM Authorization Policy Not Visible in OSB 11g
I am trying to configure custom OWSM authorization policies to grant web service access in OSB to userids associated with custom WebLogic groups. Both OSB and SOA are version 11.1.1.5 with an Oracle Enterprise 11g database backend. To help rule out some possible operational errors, here are things that ARE working with the combination of SOA and OSB servcies:
* the underlying SOA service functions in the /em console test page
* the OSB proxy service works from the /sbconsole test page with OWSM oracle/wss_username_token_policy enabled
* the oracle/log_policy can be added to the OSB business service and generates log entries
* the outer proxy service can be successfully invoked from a remote client with no security policies,
with HTTP transport security and authorization policies and with OWSM authentication policies
attached (given the correct request payloads)
These findings would appear to rule out connection errors from the OSB engine to the jdbc/mds/owsm DataSource or proper startup of the "OWSM Policy Support in OSB Initializer Application" service within WebLogic. (By the way, that deploys with a typo in its registered name -- "Aplication" with a single p.)
Here are the steps that were performed:
1) created group myfirmIdentityData in WebLogic console (/console)
2) created userid myappuser in WebLogic console
3) added myappuser to the myfirmIdentityData group in WebLogic console
4) cloned the oracle/component_authorization_permitall Security policy to myfirm/authorize_IdentityData
using the Fusion console (/em on the SOA domain)
5) edied myfirm/authorize_IdentityData to add the "role" myfirmIdentityGroup to the
list of permitted roles (***)
*** note -- "roles" referenced within the OWSM policy configuration dialogs actually correspond to "groups" at the WebLogic Server level. A bit confusing at first but harmless.
6) accessed the SOA service in the Fusion console (/em), clicked on the Policies tab and verified
the myfirm/authorize_IdentityData policy is available for application to the SOA service (BUT DID
NOT ATTACH IT HERE -- I'm trying to attach it at the "outer" layer in OSB, not SOA Suite)
7) accessed the Service Bus console (/sbconsole), started a change session, selected the
proxy service, then clicked on the Policies tab, then clicked the Add button in the
Service Level Policies section
At that point, the only services listed are the factory supplied oracle/********* policies. There are two pages listed and flipping between the two doesn't show any other policies other than the oracle/***** policies.
I even tried stopping and starting the domain thinking maybe OSB caches all of the OWSM policies at startup rather than querying the mds_owsm schema dynamically to no avail. No myfirm/****** policies are displayed after a domain restart.
Any insight?
Thanks.Once again, I wound up opening a Support Request with the TAC for direction on this issue. The policies were not appearing for assignment to OSB proxy / business services because they were being created against the wrong type of object within OWSM.
In a nutshell, policies in OWSM can be created to be applied against:
* Components --- only usable against SOA services
* Service Endpoints --- against URLs used as access points into services
* Service Clients -- against consumers of services as identified by credentials
* All -- all of the above
However, policies built against Components can only be applied to SOA composite services. When I cloned the existing oracle/component_authorization_permitall Security policy to myfirm/authorize_IdentityData policy then limited it to the myfirmIdentityGroup group, that policy would only be assignable to SOA composities since it applied to only Components.
To allow the group based authorization policy to be enforced in the outer OSB tier, the oracle/binding_authorization_permitall_policy was cloned to myfirm/authorize_IdentityGroup. That policy was defined to apply to endpoints and once saved, appeared in the GUI of the Service Bus console to assign to the proxy service for the service being implemented. A second component policy named myfirm/componentauthorize_IdentityGroup was cloned from oracle/component_authorize_permitall_policy to perform the group authorization at the SOA layer.
A different issue is being encountered configuring the OSB business service to forward the OWSM headers from the outer proxy service to the SOA service so the authorization succeeds at the inner layer but that's a different problem. With the SOA layer authorization policy disabled, client tests to the proxy service function correctly with a userid in the myfirmIdentityGroup group and generate an authorization failure when another client credential is used that does not belong to myfirmIdentityGroup. -
Authorization policy in oam11g domain
Hi Guys,
One of our web resources protected with oam (webgate 10g) needs password also for application side authorization,My questions are,
1.Is it possible to set password in session, header or cookie in response of authorization policy of application domain in oam 11g?
OR
2.Is there any way to pass password as encrypted as header, session or cookie to protected web resource with 10g webgate?
Regards,

How application can access OAM protected resource. -
Hi All
How can I assign a protect resource in a protected authorization policy to a specific user ?
in the protected authentication policy , the user need to authenticate against LDAP and then he can get in but still denied the access but how can I give him the permission to access the protected authorization resource ?
ThanksHi,
Assuming this is OAM 11g: double-click the Authorisation Policy (eg "Protected Resource Policy", in the right-hand pane click the "Constraints" tab and then click the Add button (+ sign). Then you can add an "Allow" constraint of class "Identity", and subsequently add users/groups to that identity. Given that no-one can access the resource after authentication, it looks like you don't have the "Use implied constraints" check box selected.

Authorization Policy for only search users
Hi all,
I need create a custom authorization policy for only search all users in create request. The users can't see any profile information of others users.
Anyone can help me ?
Regards,
JoelViewUser Admin Role can search and view users by default. Since the OES policies for this admin role has action as ViewSearch Entity. In your case, you can write EL's to hide Admin tab which will hide Admin ltab links based on current logged-in user profile.

ISE authorization Policy not working
Hi ,
I have configured the ISE as per the belwo link
https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/110031/central-web-authentication-cwa-guests-ise
but my authorization policy is not working as when user get connected to guest wlan it get authneticated but when it look for authorization
it going to default policy it should hit on above policy created screen shot as belowWhat version of ISE + patch are you running?. Could you please send an screenshot of AUTH policies including the default --- > USE part?. Are you using customized portal for the first authentication process?
CWA is pretty straightforward. Only issues I faced was multiple VM (ISE Personas) running on one single server was not replicating properly the AUTHZ policies so I added the PSN persona into the PAN Node and everything worked fine immediately. In addition to that, I realized that I needed at least ONE ENTRY into the ISE PAN Internal Endpoints DB so I could hit the AUTH Policy for MAB & user not found condition which sent me to the AUTHZ = User Unknown + Redirect. Once I authenticated the user using the Default Portal that meant I hit the GUEST FLOW policy. If you are using customized portals for the first authentication process, check: web portal mgmt. --- > Guest --- > MultiPortal Configurations --- > Customized Portal -- > Authentication part. -
Hello Experts,
I need to create new custom Authorization Policies, but seems that I can create or copy only Policy from these Entity Type:
- User Management
- Role Management
- Authenticated Self Service User Management
What about the other entity Type? Why I cannot create an Authorization Policy based (for example) on Entity Type 'Scheduler'??
Thanks in Advance and Best Regards
ATOpen an SR and ask Oracle for the 11gR1 unpublished API.
We automate the creationing of an authz policy when we create a group. We were able to receive the API for 11gR1 with the understading that it was unsupported, and with a very strong business case for needing it.
Hope that help. -
WSUS clients reporting, but not recignizing that they need updates
Ok, so here we go. This issue is affecting all of my clients.
What I am running:
WSUS v3.2.7600.226 on Server 2008-R2
Clients are
Server 2008-R2
Server 2008-SP2
Windows 7
All of my clients are reporting to the WSUS server. Updates have been approved for all of them.
The WSUS control panel is showing that each client is in need updates, each client needs between 65-85 updates.
This WSUS server is not connected to the internet, so all of the updates were imported from one that is connected to the internet and they are stored locally.
I’ve checked the WindowsUpdate.log and what I think I am seeing is that the clients are checking in with the WSUS server, but are not seeing that they need any updates.
The log file is below.
I ran the “Solarwinds WSUS Diagnostic’s Tool”, and everything came back as good, except the “CONTENT”.
The error that is displayed is “Incorrect proxy client configuration – use settings tab to test proxy configuration settings; may also be caused by misconfigured SSL implementation or access rights on WSUS Server.”
- I am not using any sort of proxy settings.
- I am not using an sort of SSL
- As far as misconfigured access rights on WSUS server… I don’t think they are set incorrectly.
If I browse to http://SRV-WSUS-E3/selfupdate/wuident.cab I am able to download the wuident.cab.
Hopefully I didn’t cause this with conflicting group policy, my group policy settings related to WSUS are as follows:
Allow automatic Updates immediate installation – Enabled
Allow non-administrators to receive update notifications – Enabled
Automatic Updates detection frequency – Enabled, 4 hour interval (I plan to change it to 24 hours once things are working)
Configure Automatic updates
Configure automatic updating – 4 – Autodownload and schedule the install
Scheduled install day – 0 Every day
Scheduled install time – 1900
No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations – Disabled
Reschedule Automatic Updates Scheduled instllations – Enabled
Wait after system startup (minutes) – 1
Specify intranet Microsoft Update service location – Enabled
Set the intranet update service for detecting updates –
http://SRV-WSUS-E3
Set the intranet statistics server – http://SRV-WSUS-E3
Turn on recommended updates via Automatic Updates – Enabled.
Any help or advice would be appreciated! Also, if more info is need to diagnose please let me know!
Here is most recent entry in the WindowsUpdate.log files from one of my Windows 7 clients. Another Windows 7 client's log was virtually identical.

KenI ran the “Solarwinds WSUS Diagnostic’s Tool”, and everything came back as good, except the “CONTENT”.
The error that is displayed is “Incorrect proxy client configuration – use settings tab to test proxy configuration settings; may also be caused by misconfigured SSL implementation or access rights on WSUS Server.”
This particular issue is discussed in a couple of other threads, and I think I also posted it back to the SolarWinds Thwack forum for the tool. This is caused because your WSUS server has the "Directory Browsing" role service enabled in the Web Server role.
If this is a dedicated WSUS server, then that is an erroneous configuration, causing IIS to return an HTTP 403.14 error to the Diagnostic Tool, and it's displaying the standard error text for detecting an HTTP 403 error. This is a defect in your WSUS server,
and the fix is to disable the Directory Browsing role service in the Web Server role. If this is not a dedicated WSUS server, then the question is whether there are any other web applications or web services that require Directory Browsing to be enabled. If
not, then you should remove the role service. If so, then this is a normal indication for your implementation because IIS is returning an error to the Diagnostic Tool.

This message is generated because you have an update on your WSUS server that needs to go away. Typically this is caused by an expired (read: defective) update that still has an active approval. Find the update, decline it.

I am trying to install OS 9.2.1 in an old G3 which at present has no OS in it.
The screen says it needs updated firmware to do so. When I try to follow instructions, it tells me the CD is locked, which is obvious since it is an installation CD. Other instructions seem to assume there is already an older OS in the machine to update. Anyone with an idea of how to break this log jam?
[email protected]Hi wmarina !
Welcome to the Discussions, and Happy Thanksgiving!
The only G3 that will give you a Firmware Update warning when trying to install OS 9, is a Blue & White G3 tower.......
If that's what you have, then getting OS 9 onto it is a bit of a Catch-22, Can o' Worms, P.I.T.A., or whatever other favorite sayings you may have for a difficult job........
"Other instructions seem to assume there is already an older OS in the machine to update."
Very astute observation, and 100% correct.
The OS that is assumed to be on the B&W's drive is MINIMUM 8.5.1, and therein lies the Catch-22.....
A BOOTABLE 8.5.1 Install CD is NOT available as a RETAIL CD........
The Retail CD is 8.5 install, with the 8.5.1 UPDATER, which is also on the CD.......
The 2nd part of this problem is that the Firmware Updater (which is on the OS9.1 CD) MUST be run from the booted Hard Drive with 8.5.1 on it.........
Your options are:
1. Find a set of the ORIGINAL SOFTWARE CDs that shipped with a Blue & White G3, and install the original OS from there.........
2. Do what I had to do. Take out the Hard Drive and move it to an older Mac (i.e. Beige), and install OS 8.5 on it, and update it to 8.5.1, take the Hard Drive out and re-install it into the B&W again, boot to it, and do the Firmware update at that time.........
Note that NO Mac can boot to an EARLIER version OS than it shipped with when new, which is why you will have to use a beige to install 8.5.1 to that hard drive........
As a secondary note, to avoid more problems, get a new Pram battery (1/2 AA 3.6V).
Available at any Radio Shack.
Good Luck !
Kevin

Apps are locked to the Apple ID that was used to download them. You will have to sign in as your brother in order to update it.

My ipod touch is telling me that the Skype and Twitter apps need updating. When I try to update them they both fail. I have tried numerous times. I have tried connecting the ipod to itunes and removing the apps, to reload them but that does not work either. If I try and update the apps through itunes the system tells me they are updated. Can anyone assist please?
- Try a reset. It cures amny ills
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Have you tried deleting them from the iPod and then redownloading them dorectly to the iPod?

Hi i am baffled as to why when i have apps sitting in my Itunes on the Macbook that need updating used to start straight away once i plugged in the ipad or iphone ,now all updates on ipad or iphone i do manually same with the macbook .Any help would be most grateful thanks guys..
Hi, I had the same problem. I finally figured it out. Plug in the USB cord to your ipad, but beofre plugging it into your computer make sure your ipad is not in the locked or sleep mode. Once I did this, my photos showed up and started downloading. Hope that helps you!

After installation it told me to update or research several plugins. I updated Silverlight and JAVA. I was instructed to shut down and restart my computer to test the JAVA installation. I did this and the installation is fine. At this point I no longer had the screen with the list of plugins that need updating or researching.
THis is probably the page you saw.

You can also access it from the Firefox menu by clicking "Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins" and then clicking the Find Updates button at the bottom. -
My apple ID was correctly changed but my @me account and @icloud account addresses need updated to reflect my married name.
I tried that without any luck. I was hoping I could get Apple to reset it for me or delete the account so I could recreate it or at least tell me what is listed as my birth date, the security question answer.
