Assumption of Liability before or after I upgrade my device on my current account?

I am currently on a grandfathered unlimited data plan on my own. On this plan, I am eligible for my 2 year phone upgrade and I would like to get an iPhone5. I am also planning on transferring to onto a shared plan with my fiance in the near future (she is also currently on a grandfathered unlimited data plan).
I have a few questions around this situation:
-Should I upgrade my phone now and then transfer the assumption of liability to her after, or should I transfer into her account and THEN upgrade to the new phone?
-Will I retain unlimited data if I transfer assumption of liability to her and add myself as a line on her account?
-Will I need to pay a cancellation fee to my current account if I add myself as a line to her account?
If anyone can help me not senselessly throw away money, it would be much appreciated!

The ONLY stuff that should give you trouble is anything that requires Roestta to run. iLife apps can be upgraded for free, and iWork 09 should still run. Office 2011 and Adobe Creative Suite CS5 and CS6 run like before on my Mini.

Install Yosemite before or after HDD Upgrade

My MBP (Model A1229) is the earliest that will run Yosemite. I had Yosemite running but found my overall Internet experience just too slow. Even after downgrading to Mavericks I wasn't content with the snap of my machine. On further notice, I found everything was dog slow, finder, opening apps, etc. I did all the optimizing at my disposal, primarily repairing permissions, hard drive repair and running Disk Warrior, but even so things are just sluggish. I found my Install Disks and ran AHT and had a few errors, among them was one for the hard drive. This is the original hard drive that came with this machine so must be getting real tire. I've noticed the hard drive is constantly 'ratcheting', sometimes for minutes - wondering if this is a sign of an ailing hard drive.
So, I intend to replace the drive which I have on constant Time Machine back up and wonder now if I should drop Yosemite on before I upgrade the drive, or wait and install fresh on the new drive?
Would it make any difference? Any thoughts?

The things that I would suggest that might work is to make sure that you have the updated version of Yosemite. When this was posted you said you have OS X Yosemite 10.10.... The version I have is 10.10.2 so there might be an update. Also you could call apple at 1-800MYAPPLE if you have purchased the applecare protection plan. Also you might wanna take it into the apple store near you.

Help - switch from entourage to mail before or after Lion upgrade?

I want to upgrade to os x Lion. I also want to switch from Entourage (2008) to Mail with this upgrade. Should I switch to Mail in Snow Leopard, then do the Upgrade to Lion?

Entourage will NOT work with Lion. If you switch to Lion first, you will NOT be able to easily, or perhaps at all, get your Entourage data.
Definitely switch to Mail first. Move all of MSFT programs' data that depend on Rosetta to some other program. Only after you have done that and tested the solution should you upgrade to Lion.

OK, I'l answer/update my question. Yesterday, I backed up my iPad 2 and then downloaded/installed the new IO5 (as per directions via iTunes). That took most of the morning. Then I updated my apps. Most seem to work fine. However, one app (FreeBooks) quit/exited every time I tried to use it, and my library was gone. So I just ended up deleting the app. Then I reinstalled it and re-downloaded my library. Bit of a pain but no big deal. So my upgrade went pretty well. I'm loving the new four-finger gestures so I don't have to use the Home button as much.

Mac mini disaster after iTunes upgrade

I've got an Intel mac mini. The hardware test shows it to be a Macmini2,1 with a Intel Core 2 Duo, 1.83GHz, 2MB L2 and 1 gig memory. No hard drive info shown.
The short version of the story is I can no longer boot my machine. It makes it past the grey apple screen and then sits on the blank blue screen forever. Booting in Verbose mode gives me lots of text which means little to me but mostly seems okay. This is followed by blank blue screens alternating with black screens with ominous messages in which something called 'importer' and Loginwindow.app are featured prominently, with the word 'crash' strewn about quite a bit.
The lead-in:
I recently upgraded to iTunes 8 after being prompted to do so by the auto update feature. I can't remember for sure whether I did it before or after the upgrade, but I changed the sharing name for this computer and the external drive where my iTunes library is stored. After the install I tried closing iTunes and got the spinning pie. I tried to access Force Quit from the apple icon but it didn't respond. I occasionally could get iTunes calm enough to access it's menu but it didn't have the Quit iTunes menu option listed, which I found really odd. It wasn't greyed out, it just wasn't there. Ultimately I hit the power switch and it hasn't worked since. I've tried various key combinations on start up, including the pram and nvram ones. I tried booting from the install CD but it says Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer.
Anyone with any tips or fixes would be a hero in my book.

You don't go to the install screen.
Boot into the DVD and after the language screen, top left is a menu. In menu, under Utilities, select disk utility and repair HD and permissions.

Tuxedo not starting up after Database upgrade to 9.2.0.8 on AIX 5.2

Database 9.2.0.8.
I recently upgraded my Oracle database from 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8 and after the upgrade Tuxedo has failed to start successfully.
I am getting the error messages
CMDTUX_CAT:819: INFO: Process id=41800 Assume started (pipe)..
I have been reading a number of articles on metalink and the web and they seem to point to an incompatible version somewhere.
The upgrade went through without any error messages.
The strange thing is that the XA log files from when the application was working correctly before the upgrade show
ORACLE XA: Version 9.2.0.1.0. RM name = 'Oracle_XA'
in the headers of the logfiles however after the upgrade the info in the header has changed to
ORACLE XA: Version 8.0.6.0.0. RM name = 'Oracle_XA'.
Does anyone know any reason why the 9.2.0.8 patch will changed the Oracle_XA version?
Has anyone come across this before?

I know this may sound silly but after the upgrade (and this is the second time i have done it) it seems to change the format of the logfiles.
This happened last week and the patch was rolled back and the application worked fine.
Did the upgrade again and the same issue arose.
The app dont start and the logfile format have changed again.
The format before the upgrade was xa_CLSUAT_07022007 but after the upgrade it as changed to xa_CLSUAT_070207.
The upgrade went fine but my question here is does the 9208 change any date format in the database?

Spotlight and Time Machine broken after restore/upgrade

I've found a few similar threads to this but none of those solutions has worked for me.
Two things happened at nearly the same time, so I don't exactly know the source of my problem:
I upgraded my old MacBook Pro (approx. Oct 2010, 2.66GHz I think, 300GB-ish HD) from Lion to Mountain Lion
The hard drive on my old MacBook Pro developed a terminal fault, so I had to buy a new one (8GB, 750GB HD) and restore a month-old Time Machine backup from my external drive.
I can't remember whether my last Time Machine backup to my external drive was before or after I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Now I'm on OS X 10.8.2 on this new machine and I have two problems that seem to co-exist for a lot of other people too:
Spotlight won't index: this is f***ing infuriating, I love spotlight and I use it all the time. When I first restored from the TM backup I think the old index restored with the backup as I did get a decent number of search results (both in spotlight and in MS Outlook), but new files didn't seem to get recognised. I tried adding my hard drive to the exclusion list and removing it again in an attempt to get it to rebuild the index, but all that did was wipe the old index without building a new one, so now I get no spotlight results whatsoever. I tried this solution and sadly it hasn't worked either. Basically I can't search for anything. Even applications (which I like to launch from spotlight) don't appear. All I get is "estimating indexing time", and it never gets any further.
Time Machine won't back up: the first time I tried to backup my new machine it got a few hundred megabytes in before stalling; then a few hundred kilobytes in the next time I tried; and now it just doesn't get anywhere at all. The external drive I'm trying to backup to is recognised fine, I can see all the other files on it, and Time Machine seems to know that it's there, but the backup gets nowhere.
There are reports of this kinds of crap all over the Apple Support forums, but no definitive answer, especially for 10.8.2.
I could really do with some help on this. I need a backup before I screw another laptop, and I need spotlight to survive day-to-day life.

Hi Craig - I had the exact same problem - I'm using an old early 2009 MacBook Pro upgraded to 8 Gb Ram, 1 TB internal Hitachi HD, 10.8.2 - tried the fixes suggested - got it to work with these steps- everybodies mileage is different but hopefully it works for you as well.
a) I repaired disk permissions with Onyx (free utility) and then started up with Command-R using Disk Utility to repaired/check the Volume (harddisk checked out fine but the volume needed some minor repairs )- Onyx repair disk permission seems to go deeper -had to reinstall some apps - don't know if this solved it-seems to bring it back to the default state - you might get away with doing all from Disk Utility (but starting up with Command-R)
b) restart from my internal hd
c) downloaded the 10.8.2 combo update ( not the incremental shell update or whatever you call it which automatically gets installed with software update - combo update installs everything fresh from the .0 version)
d) with Onyx I deactivated spotlight and erased the spotlight index
d) restart
e) started TM backup - prep took pretty long 30 minutes but then 450 GB got backed up in 6 hours to my external HD which is fast enough for me
f) activated spotlight and 450 Gb were indexed in 9 hours or so
g) for 2 days everything runs fast and very responsive

When I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.31.5-1 from 2.6.31.4-1 and tried printing a file, I got this error from cups:

I downgraded the kernel and the printer works again and I forgot to mention I had usblp blacklisted both before and after I upgraded.

Apps icons not appearing on screen after ios7 upgrade

After updating to IOS7, my apps are not showing up on screen. They appear in the App Store under purchased, and open when I press the "open" button. How cai I get the icons back on the screen?

I think I am having the same problem.
After updating to iOS 7, a couple of my Purchased apps have icons on my iPhone 4S screen, and some of my Purchased apps do not. If I go to App Store/Updates/Purchased, all the apps I Purchased show up, even the ones I deleted from my phone (before and after the upgrade).
All of my active apps have the "Open" button next to it. But how do I get the active-apps-that-aren't-showing-on-my-phone to show up on my phone?
I haven't found any Apple support string that talks about this and it's frustrating. My commonly used apps are no longer easily accessible, which is counterproductive.

Can upgrades be transferred along with assumption of liability?

My fiancé is going to assume liability of her phone line and have it transferred to my billing account (from her parents' account). Is it possible for her to transfer the upgrade and purchase an iPhone at the discounted cost after being transferred to my account?

When you do an assumption of liability, the upgrade eligibility transfers as well - however if there is less than one year remaining, the term will be increased to one year. If more than one year, the terms remain the same. If her upgrade is due very soon, it may be better to wait,do the upgrade on her current account, THEN do the AOL once she's done her upgrade.
This is a process known as Assumption of Liability (AOL). In order to perform an AOL, all of the following requirements must be met:
Current Account Owner
You must ensure that the balance on the account you want to transfer is current. You will continue to be responsible for account charges until the transfer has been completed.
If the line you are transferring is the primary line on a Family SharePlan® or the only secondary line on a Family SharePlan, the remaining line(s) must be placed on eligible calling plans prior to processing the account transfer. Please contact Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 for assistance.
You must contact Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 to authorize the account transfer and provide the name of the person who will be taking over the account.
New Account Owner (person taking over responsibility for the account)
You must read and agree to the Verizon Wireless Customer Agreement Terms and Conditions prior to assuming responsibility for the account.
If the line you are taking over is being added to an existing Verizon Wireless account, your account must be current.
If you agree to the Customer Agreement Terms and Conditions and up to a one-year contract term, you must contact the Assumption of Liability Department at (888) 832-4540. A representative will assist you with completing the AOL request.

I bought a Sandisk Connect Media Drive, downloaded the app from iTunes. Before iOS 8, movies played fine. After iOS upgrade I can no longer play movies downloaded from iTunes to the media drive. Anyone else have a similar issue?

I checked with SanDisk's own online support and they indicate that they have notified Apple of the issue.
According to SanDisk, the problem lies with Apple not having the iOS 8 version of the Safari browser having DRM decoding enabled that the Media Drive relies upon to decode and play iTunes DRM titles. Non DRM encoded videos will play in the browser.
DRM audio is not effected as this is handled by the native iOS music app.
As of the date of this post SanDisk have not been given a timeframe by Apple for this issue to be resolved.
I hope that Apple resolves this issue quickly as I have a large collection of DRM video titles on a 128Mb memory card installed in the Media Drive that I am unable to view.

i need to create a documnet for testing the over all functionality of the queries and wad before upgradation and after upgradation(bi 7.0) like structure, rkf , ckf variables, etc , please guide me and send me if any sample template available on this scenario

You can spool (or put in a database table) in your 10G database the sql statements and their performance metadata (this should be done when the system is really used). After the upgrade you can do the same select as used to spool. the statements in the 10G database and compare them (again in a really used system). A sql statement to use could be:
select inst_id, sql_id, hash_value, executions
,(cpu_time/executions)/1000000 cpu_time
,(elapsed_time/executions)/1000000 elapsed_time
,(disk_reads/executions) disk_reads
,(buffer_gets/executions) buffer_gets
,(rows_processed/executions) rows_processed
