Asterisks in all input fields eg search boxes logins etc but not in word or email

Hi My PC started playing up a couple of days ago Every time I tried to login from the Windows  login screen in the box for my password suddenly a line of asterisks appear sometimes before I even type. Eventually after restarting a few times the problem will cease and I can login. HOWEVER once I'm logged in if I open a new tab in chrome the address field is filled with asterisks, if I press the start button then the field for 'find programs' is filled automatically with asterisks This means I can't use my PC I've tried power erase from Norton nothing untoward found then I tried sophos removal tool again nothing found So just to be sure I ran iObit malware tool again nothing I've tried a restore point but after an hour that came back with an error message Also after the failed system restore Norton stopped working and needed to be re-installed. I did use driver booster to update the sound and graphics drivers 7 days ago but everything seemed fine... so I'm at a real loss as what to do any help would be much appreciated Thanks in advance Alison

Hi purpleAli. Certainly a strange issue, the keys only produce an asterisks in all typing locations. I would like you to use this keyboard testing site. Click 'Launch The Tester" and press all of your keys one at a time.
When a key is down, that key should turn yellow on the diagram. When you release the key it should turn, and remain green. If your keys respond here as you would expect them to, then its not likely a driver issue. http://www.keyboardtester.com/
I would first see if removing all programs from startup, stops the issue from happening.
Goto the section "Use System Configuration to prevent programs from launching"
Since you cannot type, try copying this -> msconfig <- and pasting it into the search box (as illustrated in Figure 4).

If that fails, I am not sure what else to try. The way you have described it certainly seems like some sort of corruption. I would probably consider recovering back to factory defaults. Let me know how the previous steps go before committing to this one.

    What is the reason that the customer is wanting only dropdown and not the search help.
    Can you please ask for business reason for such requirement. (Please ask only if you are in a position to)
    The reason is that its too much an effort so I am keen to understand the reason.

    A Espinoza,
    The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities.  So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
    However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

    Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

    Thank you for your advice. I followed your directions, but came up with the same results. However, I did discover that whenever I open up the iPhoto Library that is already existing on my MacBook a certain set of pictures shows up. But then when I open up the iPhoto Library from the Hard drive another set of pictures shows up. BUT not ALL of my pictures are showing up on the iPhoto Library from the hard drive. At least the last two years of pictures are not showing up?! Actually, it appears that all the pictures are there from when I started using iPhoto about 5 years ago up until around the time that I got my iMac desktop computer and started using that (2 years ago). I have noticed that more recent videos I have made are showing up in a folder on the hard drive, but will not appear when I open up iMovie?! Any ideas on how to access my pictures from the last 2 years off of the hard drive???

    I just remembered I have a couple of screen snaps online to explain how
    it's done:
    1. place your base image and name it in the inspector
    2. from the smart objects palette grab the head action item, the one
    with a question mark in its upper, green half - the 2nd one from the
    left. Drop that into the pages head section.
    3. in the inspector set the action to run OnLoad and select the base
    image that you named in the first step and set the other parameters.
    This was done in the days of GL6, but not much had changed in GL CS.
    Anyway you might also refer to GL's online help. It describes how to set
    up all the actions that ship with GL.

    Yes i've tried all of that. I've turned it all the way on and off and erased all of my music and put it back on and nothing works. And with the breaking up CDs and putting into compilation categories i have already fixed all of that stuff. It's fine it just doesn't show up in the list of artists. I can find the album in the songs category and the albums category it's just it doesn't show tha name of the artist. All of the other albums that i downloaded before i updated my itunes to th most recent update are fine. It's just the two that i downloaded afterwards. Thanks for trying though.

    Last op system update on mine/my wife's iPad causes all video apps (Netflix/Hulu/CBS/History,etc) to NOT flow uninterrupted; constant breaks.  Type problem into Safari and many folks having same problems wig Hulu and other video/TV apps crashing repeatedly!  It's EXTREMELY irritating and aggravating!   The apps didn't crash like that until AFTER the latest operating system update for iPads was pushed/downloaded.

    Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

    Yes, that's why I recommend one have more than TimeMachine as a backup because if certain files or folders are corrupted on the TM drive, your not logging into your migrated user account or not be able to transfer it what so ever.
    Then it's a REAL PAIN and costs $99 to bit read the TM drive to get the files out, then it's mess to go through and sort all the empty placeholders from the real files as TM doesn't save duplicates in each state, just uses the previous state's copy if there are no changes.
    If you create the same named user account on the new machine, and simply transfer files via a USB thumb drive and place say music contents into the Music folder, then it will work too.
    Look into making clones of your boot drive, the benefit here is it's bootable, you can access the drive directly to pick and choose files, run the computer just like before etc.

    When I bring up Mozilla and start typing in the address field - the curser jumps to the search box - VERY IRRITATING.

    That is done by a JavaScript on the (Google) page to set focus to the search bar.<br />
    You can stop the loading with the ESC key or set a blank page as the startup page and click the Home button if you want the Home page to appear.
    Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show a blank page"

    When using the browser, when I go to aolmail and open my email account and click on my mail to open a message to read. The mail opens and content shows for a quick second and then goes blank. The Bing search box appears in the email content section. If I use internet explorer there is no problem. The email can be read. I am using firefox 3.6.15, home vista.

    That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

    Hi Friends,
    I have added some custom fields to the 0CO_OM_OPA_6 data source. Following are the details.
    1) Custom fields: ZZEBELN (Purchasing Doc), ZZUSNAM (Username)
    2) Code populated in SE19 (BADI for this Datasource)
    3) RSA3: Test extraction pulls the records for both the custom fields correctly.
    4) RSA5, and RSA6 - Fields are unchecked for hidden and field only. They are made available.
    5) Extract Structure replicated into BW and its pulled over from extract structure into Transfer structure.
    6) Mapped to corresponding fields in BW update rule and transfer rules. (No routines or formulas exist)/
    7) When load extracted into BW, data is blank for both the fields in PSA itself.
    Our BW is 7.3 but we still use this datasource as 3.x transfer rules and datasource. In BW, it is connected to the Cube 0OPA_C11 via update rules and 3.x transfer rules only.
    Is there any reason for the data being populated into the RSA3, where as not into PSA. Please consider the above points, and let me know if I have done or missing anything here in my steps. I have gone thru several forums and havent got any specific replies for such issues. Have you come across such issues, please share your thoughts and views.
    Any of your replies will definitely help. Really appreciate your inputs.

    After reading all the answers , what i feel we are  missing a major step ie  Re-initialization of the cube .
    As you changed the extract structure and added new fields and for this Data source i assume that deltas were  running already  , the BW  system cannot pull these new fields directly from ECC unless you have not done a  re-INit again .
    The Re-init is pretty simple and not as complex as LO.
    I would advise you to re-init for 01.2014 till 016.9999  , run full load and then delatas  will flow in later on . Check during the full load if you are able to see these fields in BW in (PSA/ Cube) .
    But be careful you need to do Re-init only on week ends when there are no transactions happening else you might end up in duplicate data .
