Astute Graphics Plug Ins Question

After reading here about their Autosaviour plug-in I downloaded it from their site. While there, I noticed that they offer many other plug-ins as well.
I am wondering if any of you use them and which one(s) you find the most useful.

I have an Intuos 3 at the moment (haven't seen the need to update). Got my first tablet 10 years ago and wouldn't be without one!
Thanks, will check them out.
I have started looking at the Monroy tutorials on Lynda.com. The one thing that confuses me, is determining when to use Photoshop and when to use Illustrator. Seems like he primarily uses Photoshop for most of his work which, given the size of his work (like Times Square), surprised me a bit.

  • With all the new features of AI CC 2014, is there any point in getting the Astute Graphics Plug-ins

I'm just curious because the plug-ins seem useful, but it's a lot of cash to lay-down, especially because it seems as if there is a large overlap.  Any suggestions?
    Jon

I vote no. G4 isn't the problem so much as 400mhz is. The ram shouldn't be a problem.
But you could test if you set up Compressor on one G4. Compress a job. Compress the same job with the same settings on the G5.
If the G5 is 4 times (or even 3, since time is spent sending the render data over the network between the G4's slow system busses) as fast the single G4, a render farm will not help you.
Using the G4 and G5 together in the same cluster does not work because Compressor looks at all processors and divides the job into twice as many segments. In this case, the G5 finishes it's two segments years before the G4's and then sits around waiting. You could try splitting the G5 into 4 instances, but then you have 8 slow processors attacking your job. Not very efficient.
Good luck though. You should test the one G4 just so you know. Report back if you do.

  • LP9.1.1/10.6.3 -- 3rd party plug-ins question..

The last 4 nights on my new system have been stable---iMac i7/LP9.1.1/10.6.3
Now i'm missing my 3rd party plug-is which i have not installed yet.
    Stylus RMX
    Omnisphere
Maschine is in the mail and i may jump at the Komplete 6/Kore 2 bundle sale.
What should i expect with 3rd party plug-ins and Logic 9.1.1, am still in 32bit mode, but lots of horror stories about noise on first note, crashes etc.
I bought this system for film scoring kinda stuff, so internal logic instrumenst are not enough for me.
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Faisal

I would suggest to make sure Logic is in 32bit mode when you first run it after installing your plug-in's. I had the darndest time trying to get my Komplete and Sample Tank's to show up- then it dawned on me that I was in 64-bit. Ran in 32-bit and the plug in manager found all the 3rd party stuff.
Once you have it installed (remember that a lot of plug-ins should be ran first in their standalone mode to authorize)- switch back to 64-bit and all should be good (for the most part).

  • Question #1plug in status "checking with mozilla on the status of your plug ins" blocked by continuously rotating grey circle Random "mozilla not responding

Frequently get " mozilla firefox not responding" messages while already on yahoo page. When trying to trouble shoot on support page by going to "check with mozilla on the status of your plug ins" I am blocked by a rotating grey circle. Main problem is randomly appearing message "firefox not responding" which occasionally fixes itself but not always.

hi jacinthe117, to address the issue that the plugincheck page is never finishing to load, please try to go to the firefox'' menu ≡ > addons > plugins'' & set the "java deployment toolkit" from ask to activate to '''never activate''' and then reload the plugin check page...

  • Quick question...  does safari have add-ons or plug ins?

I've been Safari and firefox intermittently for the past week or so, and I've definitely noticed that Safari is faster than firefox most of the time, which I really like. And I like how links to some major websites are built across the top below the address bar, too. I also like how it's streamlined and condensed.
However, I like firefox, too... namely because of all the add-ons and plug ins, such as foxytunes, download helper, the toolbars for yahoo and google (those are the four I have because those are the only ones I use).
So, does Safari have plug-ins, or add-ons available, akin to firefox, or the app store (that I've heard about) for the i-phone? Because, if so, (if I could get those four plug-ins, or equivalents) that would be enough to make me do a complete switch.

Hi and welcome to the Apple discussion forum!
Yes Safari do use plugins as well as firefox, i guess that you already got the Flash plugin installed.
But you find some other available plugins at this site as well, that you maybe not have installed yet.
    http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html <<
And regarding the Appstore that has really nothing to do with Safari though, the appstore is a
place where you can Buy/Download software for your iPhone. Cheers, J~G

  • Plug ins- Audio units question from a Cubase SX user

With Cubase SX3 I have 7 VST instruments (2) bass (4) synth (1) drums + at least 100+ effect plug ins. If you add my Powercore firewire plugins, Waldorf Attack, Absynth 3 battery 2 I have a nice arsenal. I know AB3, Battery and the Powercore work in Garageband so I would assume the same for Logic but I need to know cause it looks like I'm giving up instruments (SX3)for Audio Units(Logic) Am I right ? If so what Audio Units / plug ins come with Logic and Logic Express? I want to get Logic for my other studio is it worth learning?
    rdee

    Hi,
Take a look at http://www.fxpansion.com/product-auadapter-main.php . This plugin should enable you to use your VST plugins in Logic (if I'm not terribly wrong).
Logic Express comes with 4 synths, 1 sample player, 3 delays, 4 distortions, 6 plugins for dynamics (compressors etc.), 6 EQ's, 6 filters, 6 modulation plugins, 4 reverbs, and some nice special ones like a tuner, pitch correction and vocal transformer. Besides this, there are quite a few good (and free) AU plugins. My favourites are Sampletank Free and Ambience (Smartelectronix).
I think that Logic has the right name: it's very logical to use. Besides that most of the plugins sound great.

  • Trouble installing third party plug-ins Illustrator CS5.1

    Hi,
I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 and am using Illustrator CS5.1 via an Adobe subscription. I have repeatedly tried to install several plug-ins made by Astute Graphics (www.astutegraphics.com/). I download the file, double click on the .dmg folder and then double click on the installer icon. The installation process is quick, easy and completely automatic, and each time installation is confirmed "successful". But, the plug-ins' tools are nowhere to be found within Illustrator once I open the program, nor do any files appear in the Plug-ins folder. Just recently I downloaded and installed another company's plug-in without any difficulties, and the corresponding file appears in this same folder.
Any ideas what could be wrong? Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

    Hi Monika,
Thanks again for taking the time In response to your post,
Normally the plugin files should be right inside your plugins folder inside the Illustrator program folder.
Yeah, but there's nothing there unfortunately. I have even does a search on the computer and only come up with the files inside the dmg disk folder, nothing else. So, if installation was successful where could the files have been installed? I just don't get it, I've even looked in the Photoshop Plug-ins folder and nothing.
Do you have different versions of Illustrator on your computer?
Do you run virus protection software? (This often disturbs installation processes)
No,  I have only this one version installed, and as I mentioned it's an Adobe subscription. Is it possible that because it's a subscription I'm having difficulties? Perhaps I'm limited in some ways because it's not a purchased product.
The tools themselves can be found in the tool panel in Illustrator. ColliderScribe consists of sub-tools under the select tool (black arrow - the icon should have a small triangle on the bottom right).
Yes, this is what they told me as well, but there's no submenu for the select tool. There is a submenu of the white arrow select tool though, but those tools are a part of Illustrator. As well, they mentioned that there would be a submenu under the Illustrator Menu, but there's nothing there either.
It's the most bizarre thing, the installation process is so simple and straightforward. I download the dmg file, double click on it and up appears the install icon, double click that and follow the procedure. I couldn't screw it up even if I wanted to, the process is completely automatic. Something appears to be blocking the installation process, I just have no idea what it could be. I paid for the ColliderScribe plug-in thinking that if I had the key up front it might help, but nothing.
I don't know what to say, I appreciate your time and assistance. I'd really like to purchase a few of the plug-ins, they look wonderful. I just wish I could get them work.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

  • About OpenGL and Waves Plug-ins GUI

    Hi,
I'm using 13" MacBook Pro (Early 2011 version) and i want to ask some questions about my problem. I'm a producer / sound engineer and i'm using Cubase 4. I installed Waves Complete Bundle Plug-ins. Plug-ins installed successfully but when i opened the plug-in, it works without GUI. I read lots of forums and people says "it can be OpenGL problem". My first question is Intel HD Graphics 3000 supports OpenGL? If it supports how can i solve this problem. I need suggestions about that.
Thank you in advance for your help.

I think all you can do is move them out of whatever folder there are in.

  • 3rd Party Plug-Ins

Recently I have been messing with Topaz Labs Adjust. It has some pretty cool effects. My question is does Topaz Labs (and other 3rd party plugins) add anything themselves to Photoshop (beyond a nice graphical interface) or is it just combining Photoshop's Current tools in a easy to use way to produce the effects?

There are several different kinds of plug-ins, but plug-ins are executable code, and so they generally manipulate image data in their own ways.  The things plug-ins do to images are separate and distinct from Photoshop's functions.  Basically Photoshop hands the image data to the plug-in, it manipulates it, and then writes it back to Photoshop.
My own commercial filter plug-ins are a good example.  I am able to analyze image data and operate on it in ways that Photoshop doesn't have functions for, thus I am able to produce effects no one else has.

  • After Effects Plug Ins

    Hi Guys,
Ok, what I am about to ask is something I guess is a very "Personal-preference" type question, but here we go anyway..( if nothing else, it might give you something to read! :-)..)
I have mentioned on a few posts that the project I am busy with, is for the creation of a new television series. We are a very small company, and have started out from scratch- the best place to start from I think.. Anyway, the question that I have, is around After Effects plug-ins.
I would like to invest some money in plug-ins but would like to get a feel from the forum first, as to what, where, when and why.
After all the many millions of tutorials and books I have seen, "Red Giant" is a name that crops up all the time. I am looking on their site, and am getting rather overwhelmed with the amount of plugins they offer.
I am going to "pre-guess" that someone will answer this question by stating that it all depends what I want to do at the end of the day, so I will jump the gun on that one and state that I will definately be looking into the "Keying Suite" on offer, as a lot of my work - actually, the biggest part - will be compositing from green and blue screen footage.
The other packages caught my eye, because I just want to own the world (I cannot play any computer game without completing it 100% - getting all the collectable's and extras - so that part of my personality is now bleeding into work!) - and as a result, I am looking at the "Effects Suite" and "Trapcode Suite"
So, to end this rather long "Question", can anyone advise me, from their experience, are the extra products worth while, or can After Effects pull a pretty believable similar effect by itself?
    Thanks for your time,
    Pierre

If you do keying a lot, you could need help. Not sure whether I would actually consider the complementary tools that much, as it is easy enough to build a light wrap from scratch and the Refine Matte effect ever since CS5 is pretty sophisticated as well as there are of course all the otehr channel, matte and blur tools, but Primatte is useful and may help to create a key where Keylight fails. On that note, you might also consider RevisionFX' Re:Fill to mend holes and smooth keying edges the smart way as well as RSMB Pro to remove motion blur and reintroduce it later. And the adaptive blurs in SmoothKit are also handy. The other Red Giant suites are probably not essential to you. Trapcode is motion graphics centric, anyway, and unless you neet all those particle and lighting effects, you won't get much else out of it. Similarly, the FX suite is not essential IMO. Half of that can be built from scratch or with some presets from the web, it may just be a bit more clunky and slower. if you realyl must send more money to RG and do not want to buy more RevisionFX tools like DeNoise or Twixtor, the Magic Bulelt tools would be better plus you get their color correction tools as well.

  • Mettle plug ins won't activate, cause crash

I'm having no luck activating Mettle's FreeForm Pro and ShapeShifter plug ins in AE 12.2 on a brand new MacBook Pro. Using ShapeShifter unregistered crashes AE. AE's preferences also tell me that the NVIDIA GT 750M graphics card that comes with the computer is unsupported. No idea if that has anything to do with my Mettle problems. Mettle folks have looked into it and think problem is something in my system. Anyone else experienced this?

    Hi Todd,
    Thanks for the reply.
I didn’t think I had a problem with AE but was putting the question out there to see if anyone else has experienced this issue. It must be some sort of software conflict. The plugins aren’t writing registration info to my library.
But I was taken aback to see that my new computer would have a graphics card that AE considers “unsupported.” Since that seems like an oddity, I threw the info into the mix.
I have been in touch with Mettle. Chris over there played with my computer using TeamViewer and concluded there was something “weird” with my system. Apple requested I send them diagnostic info, but I’ve heard nothing back from them in over two weeks.
So I’m reaching out anywhere I can to see if I’m the lone person with this problem.
Since we’ve communicated now and again in the past and those exchanges have sometimes resulted in your putting in a feature request, it would be reassuring to know that someone is working on getting the graphics card in the latest MacBook Pro model officially supported.
    Best
    Stephen

  • External plug-ins adding

I want to use Reactor 5 with Logic 8 as a plug-in. How do I get all my reactor plugin options, in the same way as if I were to use EX2 or any other logic plug-ins.
    Any help?

    Hi there,
First you might want to download the latest version of Reaktor (I think version 5.1.4 it's called) which fixes some graphic bugs and other minor issues. Then you should save your Presets in your User Library so whenever you open an instance of Kontakt all the available sounds will list in your Library. Besides that there is nothing you have to do, unless I missed your question. Reaktor works great in my system and can be used within L8 to it's fullest potential.

  • All of my plug ins are erased?

hey there....i have logic express 9....on a macbook....my interface is an m-audio fast track pro....i went to play a song i was working on and i couldn't hear anything...then i noticed all of the plug in indicators on each channel had a slash through them....and my "library" was empty..also i tried to just add another track and it would only allow me to add a MIDI track....but i assume its due to my library being erased......the fast track was acting a little weird it flashed an "error code #5" up on the screen....but no explanation....if the fast track wasn't acting right...could it erase just all of the plug ins? if the track data is still there....and i dump all of the songs over to an external hard drive...and reinstall logic....will the plug ins work on the old install songs? how can i figure out what went wrong? if something was wrong....why would it only erase the plug ins? i know this is like 10 questions in one....but i am lost and real sad if everything is lost......and i know what might be said....i should have backed up and had a back up for the back up....however....i just got logic like a week and a half ago.....just enough time to do enough stuff that i will be bitter if its gone...but not enough time to really do a back up..i thought anyhow..i guess lesson learned? anyways sorry to be so long winded...i hope someone can help....

duh!!!! i didn't upgrade the drivers for the fast track since i upgraded to snow leopard......problem solved...nothing lost.....

  • Plug-In Question

    Hi there.
I'm new to the use of visual effects and had some questions I just couldn't find anywhere... Perhaps it is because they are so basic, so my apologies if these are stupid questions. My projects have usually been on 16mm, but I recently moved to video and was exploring my options on getting the film look.
Firstly, I was looking into either Twixtor or Magic Bullet for deinterlacing and 24p conversion. Now to use these plug-ins, I first have to transfer my footage into After Effects correct? From what I understand, I have to use After Effects to use either of these plug-ins, and then transfer it back to FCP.
So at the moment I only have FCS2, but to use either of these programs am I looking at an investment in both After Effects and Twixtor/Magic Bullet?
    Thanks for the help.

I'm definitely looking to get a Panasonic in the near future. All these programs are mostly for me to get accustomed to before I shoot a documentary this upcoming summer.
I'm still a little confused, and i think it is because my question is more basic than you think it is.
When you say that Twixtor/Magic Bullet are AE plug-ins that work in FCP, does that mean owning After Effects is necessary to use them? In other words, I have FCP. In order to use Twixtor do I need After Effects, then Twixtor?
    Thanks for the quick response.

  • Unable to open Livecycle forms even with latest plug-ins

    Hi guys,
I have a created a few dynamic forms designed using livecycle designer ES..In order for my users to open these forms, they need to have atleast Adobe acrobat / reader version 8.1 or higher to view these dynamic files. However, quite a few of my users are saying that they are still unable to open these forms directly from their browser although they have downloaded the latest Acrobat X version and the browser plug-ins in their computer. It happens to both windows and mac computers. But they are able to download these files and open it directly from their adobe reader though. It happens with all browsers for them...some of them have even called up mac support as well as adobe support and they were advised that it could be a problem with my forms that I find hard to believe since it opens in my computer and opens for a lot of other users. Its only a few users still having difficulties and I can't understand why!
Also, I recently uploaded a dynamic file in acrobat file sharing. Why am I getting the below message when I have the latest adobe installed? I am able to open other dynamic forms in my browsers..why does this happen? I wonder if other user's problem is similar to this...not sure...
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from etc...etc...etc..
What can be the problem when the adobe version is already updated and also the plug-ins are updated too?? I have read a lot of links in adobe site itself which suggest various methods to test out the forms, browsers, plug-ins, etc..but this problem still happens to some users even after trying out these troubleshoots. Can someone explain if there are other limitations or solution for these users?

I don't have an answer. However, since your question is not about Acrobat forms, but Designer forms, you need to ask in the LiveCycle forum that deals with Desginer forms.
