ASU won't update no matter what I try.

This is the error I get when trying to install iTunes:
Modules C:\Program Files (x86)\Apple Software Update\ScriptingObjectModel.dll failed to register. HRESULT -1073740791. Contact your support personnel.
I got a new iPod for Christmas, but I can't sync it with iTunes because I can't update to 10.5. I was getting frustrated then I looked closer at the error and when it originally occurred. The first error I had was: "There is a problem with this MSI package" when it was unscheduling Software Updates, therefore it was an issue with ASU. I removed all Apple products from my computer and tried to install iTunes and now the aforementioned Module error is what I get. The error following the first DLL error is as follows:
Modules C:\Program Files (x86)\Apple Software Update\SoftwareUpdateAdmin.dll failed to register. HRESULT -1073740791. Contact your support personnel.
If you ignore it, it goes to the "Problem with MSI package" error. If someone could please help me I would be ever so grateful. I have only been able to access my purchased songs on my new iPod, so a quick reply would be appreciated.

By way of experiment, download and save a fresh copy of the Itunes64setup.exe to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now right-click on the iTunes64Setup.exe and select "Run as administrator".
Does that install go through any better?

  • HT201210 my iphone 4 wont update, no matter what i try

    I'vw tried getting the new ios 7 update, but nothing works for my iphone 4. What should I do?

    Just have to give it some time. The download, activation, and verification servers are all slammed right now 'cause of all the people trying to update at the same time. Give it a couple hours (or overnight if you can wait) and it should sort itself out.

  • HELP! My mac won't work no matter what I try!

    Hello,
    So I was in disk utility and I formatted my bootcamp HDD instead of my Windows backup HDD, and windows 8.1 (bootcamp) was selected as my default boot disk. So every time when I boot it takes me to a windows recovery screen. It has the error
    Error code: 0xc000000f
    I have tried plugging in a windows recovery that I have on my windows back up HDD but when I press F8 to use it (the backup)
    the screen blinks and goes back to the original screen.
    I have tried internet recovery, verbose mode, safe mode, disk selector and none of it works, it always goes back to the windows recovery screen. I need a way to get back to OS X or disk utility to fix this all. I have a MacBook Pro so if thee is anything that can help with to get my iMac working again tell me. Please if anyone has any idea how to fix this please tell me, I have exams and I need it to study plus I have no money so sending it to apple is no option.
    Thanks again,
    Dave

    Reboot, at the sound of the startup chime press and hold the option key, when the startup manager appears release the key and tell us what choices are offered to boot from.

  • IMessage won't work no matter what I try?

    1) It is turned on and activated.
    2) It won't work with any other iPhones I attempt to iMessage.
    3) I have a stable internet and cellular connection.
    4) Send as SMS is off but still sends as green instead of blue.
    5) yes I tried restarting my phone
    6) yes i have changed dns to 8.8.8.8.8 or whatever,
    This is very annoying, I have an iPhone for iMessaging not texting, I tried everything and nothing is working.

  • JTable doesn't update no matter what I try!!

    I populate a JTable from a file at runtime, then I manually read the file again to chech for updates, that work's fine, but to display the new content I have to click on the next empty row to update the screen.. I have tried updateUI, fireTableDataChanged and I don't know how many others, I'm using a TableModel.. The table is in a splitpane, should I call repaint on the splitpane instead? Well that doesn't work either anyway..
    Thank's very much for your help!!!!
    Fredrik.

    I wrestled with that for about 20 hours before getting it.
    Here's some of my code:    makeButton("Refresh Table",northP,
        new ActionListener()
          public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent e)
            updateTable();
      public void updateTable()
        ch.sendShowAll();
        model.handleServerMessages();
        model.fireTableDataChanged();
    /////////////////////This worked for me.
    Both these methods occur in the JFrame class that displays the table. I pass the table
    model to the JFrame constructor. In the above code, the model object is an instantiation
    of the class that extends AbstractTableModel, with the methods getElementAt(), getRowCount(), and getColumnCount().
    If you post some of your code,I'll try to help.

  • My battery won't charge no matter what I try

    It may be that the battery is just getting old and needs to be replaced, but I'd rather not drop $130 if there's some way to fix it.
    As of this post, my battery level is stuck at 45% and, according to the drop down menu on the battery icon, is not charging. My power adapter is clearly supplying energy because the battery life only drops when I unplug it and the green light is lit on the plug. My battery cycle count is at 54, but the condition says "check battery".
    My Macbook Pro is just over a year old but the battery has been acting strange. Sometimes my computer would just turn off randomly when running on battery power, sometimes as soon as 74% life. This problem inexplicably went away on its own.
    Later, I had a problem where, even though plugged in, the battery would continue to drain all the way to 0%. I followed the instructions for an SMC reset and the battery started charging again properly.
    This time the battery is just stuck at 45%, and I've tried restarting normally, resetting the SMC, and a PRAM reset. I've even tried the SMC reset method with leaving the battery out for an extended period before returning it to the notebook and starting up again (basically I've tried a variety of things that I've read from surfing help forums on this very topic in hopes that it would also solve my similar problem). However, it remains at 45% and refuses to charge (unless I were to unplug it, at which point that 45% would begin to drop).
    Does anyone have any ideas? Obviously it's a pain to own a laptop that must be plugged in at all times to run, but I'd rather only replace the battery as a last resort, $130 is hard to come by as a typical broke college student.

    Yo MR, howzit;
    So, you got coconutbattery utility? http://www.coconut-flavour.com, donation-ware: awesome. My MBP is like 49% of original battery capacity; 132 load cycles; sounds lame but I am surviving.
    Yeah, buying a battery ... Nothing like a new battery; which entails an expenditure. There were threads here last year about an AAPL credit for certain battery serial #s; search this forum. Else, keep trying: have you calibrated? The SMC reset; maybe try it again? Good luck; post back!

  • My iPod Touch 4gen turn on or reset no matter what I try?

    My iPod Touch won't start no matter what I try. For a while it wasn't being used and when I tried it wouldn't turn on. I tried charging it thinking it just might be dead but nothing still. Plugging it into the computer doesn't help neither. Also when Iplug it in iTunes does not open up like if it's responding to a device. I've tried the holding down the home botton and power down for seconds but again nothing.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    I have just updated my iTunes to 11.1.3. I followed all correct steps, restarted my computer etc but now I cannot open iTunes not matter what I try and do.
    Very frustrating. Have read the trouble shooting info on Apple website but nothing has worked.
    Someone please help. I cannot access any of my music.

    Open Finder. Go to the "Go" menu in the menu bar. Press and hold Control and click on Library. Go to "Preferences". Find a file named, "com.apple.iTunes.plist" and delete that file. This won't delete your iTunes content. It will reset iTunes. Try it again.

  • I NEED DESPERATE HELP! ADWARE THAT DOES NOT GO AWAY NO MATTER WHAT I TRY

    So I was downloading something to my computer and, of course, I got stuck with that Only Search thing and no matter what I try it DOES NOT GO AWAY. I tried turning off my extensions, I tried switching networks, I tried resetting safari. Deleting my history. Every. Single. Thing.
    And nothing works.
    Pleas please PLEASE someone help me with getting rid of this I HATE having an adware.

    There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
    You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
    Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
    From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
    Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
    Right-click or control-click the line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
    Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
    Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
    The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
    This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
    You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    Hi Demo,
    Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
    I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
    My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
    The iPad is first generation
