ASUS P6X58D Memory OK (MEMOK!) issue  DRAM LED Stays solid red.

HI
This morning when I turned on my computer, it would not boot. Not even the most basic boot (I could not get to the ASUS bio DOS screen, for example).   It would only sound  one beep, and then finally a second beep-- but the second beep did not sound immediately thereafter. .  Usually, I recall, I hear two rapid beeps almost immediatley when I boot up.
I did some checking on the net.  It appears to be a memory issue. I reset my memory in their slots. But that did not help.
I saw the on the ASUS motherboard the DRAM LED light was solid red.  After checking the manual (and checking some YouTube videos), I pressed the MEMOK! button right next to the DRAM LED light.
According to the manual, when using WIndows OS  the system will reboot as it does its "Flashing lights" test to try to use a memory failsafe setting.  However, even after reboot the red light stayed solid and appeared not to do the testing.
Perhaps I am not doing the test correctly.  For example, do I keep my finger on the MEMOK! button throughout the tests and reboots??  Or just press once, and never press it again.
ASUS USA support appears to be closed today for the New Year's holiday.  So I am wondering if anyone here has some suggestions.  My memory was working fine up until this morning.
I suppose I could wait until tomorrow when ASUS phone support is live again, but thought someone might have some suggestions / tests I can do today.
Thanks

Well I fixed it.
Not sure exactly what I did that fixed it, but here is what I did.
1)  I unplugged the computer.
2)  I disconnected the power supply from the motherboard.
3)  I removed the battery.
4)  I let it sit for about an hour.
5)  I pushed the motherboard reset button on the back of my computer (I perhaps should have done this first, but I did it.)
6)  I put a new battery into the motherboard (perhaps the old one was dead or a zombie.)
7)  I reconnected the power supply to the mother board.
8)  I plugged in the box.
9)  I heard the familiar two beeps, and sure enough the unit booted up.
Upon bootup the ASUS screen had me to into bios and double check everything.   Then it all rebooted again, and opened windows 7.
I will make sure I have the lastest ASUS bios.  But I see that it is recognizing all 24 GB of memory, so I guess I am good to go.

Remote lock & Memory card corrupted issue
    Hi Dear Friends,
You might have experienced the "Memory card corrupted issue."
Don't panic! The solution is here!
Your memory card is just 'locked', it isn't 'corrupted'!
For sure, this post would be of great help to you, if:
    • You have enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device.
    • You have sent the remote lock message to your device and locked it remotely.
Finding the solution really took me a lot of time. I was inspired by various posts on the Discussion, and decided to find the official notes on the issue. So would like to thank those who shared their tips, and helped us solve this problem.
I'm using E66, (you might use something else), and would refer to E51's and E65's User guide so often.
Of course, I'm not going to explain the instructions, and recommend you to refer to your user guides when needed.
On the contrary, I'm going to explain what may not be mentioned in your user guides.
    Let’s Begin
    What Has Happened:
In short, you attempted to test the feature, your phone was locked, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you used the phone for a while, switched it off, powered it on, you were prompted the Lock code, you keyed in the lock code, code was accepted, you attempted to view some stuff that was on your memory card, you didn't find it, you tried to run a program that was installed on your memory card, the program icon didn't open, you put the memory card in the card reader and connected it to PC, it was not detected, you went to Menu> Tools> Memory card> You saw "Memory card corrupted"!
Don't, don't select the Yes selection key if you got the caution message, "Memory Card corrupted, reformat it?" because your memory card isn't corrupted, it's simply being locked!
But you can't find the unlock memory card command in Menu> Tools> Memory card> Options.
    So? What to DO?
    1. (This step is optional) Disable the Remote lock feature.
(Refer to your user guides) and change Allow Remote Lock> to no.
Then, while the unit is on,
    2. Press the power key briefly, and select Remove memory card.
    3. Remove the memory card from the slot.
    4. Press OK if prompted.
    5. Reinsert the memory card in the slot.
    6. Reopen Menu> Tools> Memory card.
Is your memory card detected? If yes!
    7. Follow tips number 2 & 3 of What to Know section below.
Did you get "Password removed" message?
If no, be careful of the case of the first character.
If you had changed the Remote lock message many times, use the one that was practically sent to the device via text message.
. In case you had set a password on your memory card before, you may also attempt to unlock the locked memory using your own password, not the first eight characters of the remote lock message.
Step seven would make the memory card detectable to the connected card reader to the PC too.
    8. The memory card is detected temporarily, but it is locked and the "memory card corrupted" issue reappears every time you switch off/on the phone, unless you successfully complete step seven.
    What to Know?
    Official User guide Tips:
    1. Remote locking also locks your memory card. (E51 page100)
. Yes, the one mobile phone that sends your device the predefined remote locking message, receives the confirmation message in response, indicating, "Mobile telephone and memory card are locked". But it isn't written in E66's and E65's.
    2. To unlock the memory card, select Menu> Tools> Memory> Options> Remove password, and "enter the remote locking message as the password". (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear, but the quoted part ("enter the remote locking message as the password") isn't written on my E66's User guide, and there's a vague precaution on E65's, (refer to number 4).
    3. If the message is longer than 8 characters, the first 8 characters are used as the memory card password. (E51 page100)
. Yes, quite clear good E51, but I don't own you; I have E66 your little sister. I owe my memory card's survival to nice users on the Discussion.
    4. The maximum number of characters allowed is 8. Using more than 8 characters could prevent unlocking the memory card and require reformatting it. If reformatting the memory card is required, all information on the card will be lost. (E65 page28)
. Quite interesting, but it contradicts what good E51 says in number three¡!
. And it contradicts my own experience of the issue (and some other users' on the Discussion) too, since my E66's memory card accepted the 'first eight characters' of the 'ten-character long’ remote lock message that I had previously used to remote lock it.
. The first three tips are quite important and shouldn't have been excluded from E66's and E65's user guides. I don't have the time to download and review all the user guides that support this feature, but at least I read some user manuals and also got the impression (from the posts on the discussion) that there had been not enough information on E66's, E65's, E71's, N96's, and some others.
You may like to do a simple search on Google:
"The first 8 characters are used as the memory card password" site:nokia.com
Since the content of the user guides on the server seem not be searchable for any reason, you won't find any official support result except those of the good users on the Discussions. And the 'Nokia Site Search" brings no result too. (At least on the date of this post).
¡ Terribly sorry for those who have selected Yes to the Reformat caution message. It wasn't your fault. But there's an idiom that says, sleep on it! "Think about it for a while before coming up with a decision".
But now that you have tested the feature and know its solution, don't be afraid, and enable the Remote lock feature again! God forbid, but it may be needed one day!

Dear, I guess, / This article doesn't suit your case. / • You have not enabled the "Remote lock" feature of your Nokia device. / • You have not locked your device remotely. / Because you don't know where the remote lock is and haven't played with its settings. / You need to explain what has happened. / The only thing we get is that your memory card doesn't open. / 1. your phone model, e.g., 5130. / 2. What did you do recently that might have caused this issue? / 3. What methods did you try to unlock it? / Use some of the tips provided above. (except number 1). / Yours

  • Asus k55vd Memory Upgrade

Hi everybody, So... I want to upgrade my Asus k55vd memory. Here are the specs from Asus. It came with 6 gb RAM, and says it's upgradable to 8 GB. However, I have run the Crucial Scan tool, and the output: says that the maximum upgradable RAM is 16 GB. SWEET!  I have also run Piriform Speccy, here is the summary output:    I did not know I had 4 slots.  Last time I looked under the hood, it was only 2. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. After I post this, I'm going to look again.  So the question, who and what do I believe? Can I upgrade to 16 GB? Is this a BIOS update thing?  Thank you very much!

    Hi tweezy,
Thanks for contacting us today. I pulled up your system specs and I only show you have two slots, but a max of 16GB. We have sold quite a few 8GB modules for this system with a very low percent rate. We can guarantee that the memory will work in your system. I am unsure why that other tool is saying you have 4 slots. That seems unusual.
I don't see a BIOS update being needed, but your system is a few years old so you may want to check on that anyway... Since the system is a couple years old that might be why you show an 8GB max from ASUS. They don't go through and update manuals as new parts come out. 8GB modules haven't been available that long, and when they do become available we do extensive testing on our end in order to guarantee the compatibility.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

  • FP2015 status led stay lit

While turning on the system the status led stay on. Doing this few time, now the Status led doesn’t stay on but it seems that the controller doesn’t make the booting procedure (the Leds doesn’t turn on and off at the begging)

This issue can generally be solved by formatting the internal Compact FLASH memory on the controller. There is a < a href="http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/6D0F9F74FD2DAD0186256EE5007198D4?OpenDocument">Knowledge Base that describes in detail how to format the controller. Sometimes you will first have to switch both the Safe Mode (switch 7) and Reset IP (switch 8) dip switches and cycle the power to first get the controller into a safe state.
The Compact FLASH corruption is generally due to losing power while writing to a sector on disk. This can cause that sector as well as other adjacent sectors to become corrupt.

  • 8830 Will not charge, shows solid red LED when connected

I plugged my phone in to my wall charger Saturday night as I always do-Sunday morning the phone was dead and would not turn on.  It shows a solid red light on the LED.
I cannot seem to get it to charge.  Briefly, the charging battery icon showed up on the screen, but now it went out.  Just sitting there, every once in a while the LED goes out.
Help, anyone?  I've tried taking out the battery and reinserting both with the phone plugged in and not.

I had same problem except I discovered that as long as I did not let the battery fully die, it would charge with no issues. But if it died completely, I would get the red light briefly, it would go out and then lightning bolt on battery would show up but no charge at all.

  • Interface in shutdown, Link-LED stays on.

I shutted down the GigabitEthernet-I/F on a cisco3845-router. The Link-LED stay on. Shouldn`t the Link-LED went off when the Interface is Administratly down?
The other side off the Cable is connected to a Catalyst. Does anybody have a expaination for this behavior?

Are you using the CLI to issue the command? The reason I ask is I have had instances where issuing the command via a GUI did not acutally apply the command.
    This is rather peculiar...

  • FN+F11 turns volume on/off, but LED light remains red

Pressing the function key FN+F11 switches volume on/off, BUT the LED light is always on and red.
Pressing the function key FN+F12 switches wireless on/off, AND the LED light switches red/white accordingly.
Any suggestions for a fix?  Alternatively is there a trick to disable the lights altogether?

  • Why does my mouse optical LED stay on (PS/2) when PC off

I've got the MSI KT4 Ultra (Vanilla)... when I'm using my mouse thru the PS/2 connector and shutoff the PC, the LED stays on... also my router shows that the PC is still connected even tho my PC is off... the other PCs on the network don't have this problem... finally my keyboard NumLock light is on when PC off, which forced me to connect my old keyboard with no light indicators...
so what I think the problem is, is the wake-on features... all have been disabled in the Bios but is there another setting in the Bios that can stop this small amount of electricity being used on these devices... I'm afraid my LEDs will eventually wear out...
I could plug my input devices to USB, but I much rather prefer using PS/2 simply cuz the mouse software I use with the mouse works perfectly under these conditions and sets me up as a normal mouse when USB (I've got 5 buttons on the mouse)...
is there another jumper onboard that can disable these features, or again a Bios setting? or does the newest Bios fix these issues (if u can call them issues)

ok I may have found a solution but I'm not sure...
Fri night I decided to switch Ethernet PCI cards... my net was slow and constantly losing connection with router during gaming sessions so I thought this may have fixed it (turned out to be a net issue)... as said previous I switched from my Aopen 325 (has WOL feature) to my old Sohoware Auto PCI (not sure but don't think WOL is on this card - don't have a manual since it came with my cable modem)...
first let WinXP load default drivers... it loaded the chip drivers as macronix... now I think I distinctly remember shutting off to do some gut working... optical LED was still on (not sure)... did my work and switched PC on and loaded on the Sohoware drivers... PC was on overnight till Sat when I shut it off at night... not paying attention to the LED, I woke up Sun morning with the LED off... very odd since I didn't think putting on proper driver would fix it... woke up today with the same thing... I just shutdown to make sure it wasn't luck and again LED was off...
originally my Aopen used the Realtek drivers as that is what XP detected... I've used the Aopen drivers with no luck... now it seems as tho it's fixed by simply using an Ethernet with no WOL feature... still I'm not sure if the Sohoware card does or does not support WOL...
so I'm really out of hardware to test out... if anyone else can further put time into checking this and confirm if this is a WOL Ethernet + MSI KT4 (I've also heard other mobos can have same effect) problem...
if things change I will post it here again but so far so good...
    [edit]
sohoware has no mention of WOL feature for my card on their site... yet Aopen has confirmed that their card has WOL feature... I went to Macronix website and they don't have mention of WOL for their chip so I guess Sohoware card dont' support it either... again not sure if LED was off when I shutoff before gutting my PC...

  • I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well.

I have an iphone 4s that is having display issues. If I turn the phone on, it vibrates to acknowledge it successfully turned on but the screen stays solid black. I can plug the phone into my computer and itunes will recognize the phone as well. However, itunes can not do anything with the phone because the phone is locked and I can not unlock the phone because the screen is black.
    >CURVEBALL!!!<
The screen does work though! Through trial and error along side a little troubleshooting, I was able to figure out that the screen will cut on after the phone dies completely. The phone has to die completely with no battery power left. Then if I plug the phone into a charge and wait a while for it to charge, the phone will turn on like nothing was ever even wrong with it. I charge the phone up to like 30% and turn it off then bam the phone turns on but the screen is solid black again.
I am currently in the process of waiting for the phone to die and when I turn the phone back on I am going to completely remove the auto-lock and lock code off of the phone for the time being.
    Any other suggestions? Please help!

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

My LED has turned a solid Red color. It's on all the time and is only off when I pull the battery out. My phone does still charge. I've done everything to get rid of it even wiping my blackberry and upgrading the software. I read something about Blackberry Music Gateway? I do use my pearl to listen to Pandora everyday and iheart radio with a 3.5 cable that plugs into the dash of my truck, but it never did this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Justin, so you've wiped the device completely and reloaded a new OS... still does the same. Anytime the BlackBerry is powerd on, the LED lights up RED?

  • Solution Manager 7.1 SOLMAN_SETUP - BPO Dashboard Setup stays on red LED

    Hi.
We have another strange behaviour in Solman 7.1 Setup->Basic Configuration->Automatic Activities. Step "BPO Dashboard Setup" was first red LED because "Cube 0SM_BPMRH is not active and will now be activated automatically" and then "System status failed for system" without further information in the log.
Now if we execute the step again, the Job AGS_BPO_DASHBOARD finishs successfully, but nonetheless the LED stay red. Also the log below the Automatic Activities list is not updated and has still the two old messages from above in it. I think we refreshed pretty much all buttons on the website and cleared the browser cache.
And by the way: I can't find the mentioned cube in RSA1, isn't this the place where all the cubes should be listed?
    Any ideas?
    Cheers, Tobias

    Hi,
My ST level is on SP08 and the note above can't be implemented. The BPO Dashboard Setup is still in RED icon.
What should I do to resolve this?

  • Playbook will not boot - solid red LED for 10s

My Playbook went dead last week.  Put it on the wall charger for many hours and the thing will not boot.  Now, all I get when I plug it in to the wall charger, or computer USB cable is the LED lights up red for about 10 seconds, then nothing.
I can't find this behavior listed anywhere on any site, and of course my complimentary BB support has expired.  Help me out before I bring this brick back to the store.

Actually, the web page you need is here: http://us.blackberry.com/support/playbook-support/contact.jsp
I called, and apparently, the 90 commplentary support starts when you register your PlayBook, because I was able to get a support ticket from the friendly voice on the other end.
Also, I gathered that Blackberry would handle any warranty returns themselves (though you'd probably need a proof of purchase/reciept).
I had to run to a meeting, so I'll have to call back.  Problem not solved yet, but progress.

If you follow one of Wonkanobies's links you get a description on how to find the specifications of your Power Supply Unit, the PSU.
If I would do it in words, I'd say:
    - turn computer off and unplug the main power cable leading from the wall to... The PSU.
    - open the computer case and see if you can read a note on the PSU box.
    - What does it say about amperes for the different voltages? See cdm's post or Wonkanobizz' for example.
    - Don't be alarmed, cause you don't have to do more than write them down.
    - You don't have to close the case directly afterwards, if you don't have childen or pets, but put back the power cable to the PSU.
    - Tell us, and it will be possible to check that the PSU gives enough power to your system.

  • Dell switch 8024F - Front left LED is flashing red - no connect terminal

    Hello,
I have a DELL 8024F switch not connected console me.
    The console cable is correct.
The LEDs on the switch are as follows:
LED right power source is green.
Left power source does not exist.
    LED fans are green.
Front left LED is flashing red.
    What can happen?
I have inserted several SFP + and are led as if they were not inserted.
I get the feeling as if you did not initiate the boot process.
    Any suggestions?
    regards

    Hi,
The blinking LED typical means a non critical error, but if you can’t connect to console and it doesn’t recognize any SFP+ transceivers, it could be a more serious error. If you unplug it and then reconnect power is there any change? Have you reseated the power supply and fan modules?
