Asus RT-AC68R Router - Unable to purchase / Blocked by web site

I tried to buy the following item:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=1688401&type=product&id=1219060355760
Your site blocked me, telling me I could not have the item shipped to myself, and that I could not have the item shipped to any store near me.
Please explain?
How can I buy the item? Why would you not want the sale?

Hello NightShift,
I apologize for the delayed response.
It sounds like this particular router was quite popular and wasn't available for purchase in the areas you chose at the time. I'm sorry for any frustration this may have caused.
As I wanted to see how I may help, I took a look into the item's availability.  While we may not have any in your area, the router should now be available to ship to a local store near you.
However, I would like to discuss this further and have sent you a private message. You may view it by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope in the upper right-hand corner.
Thank you for posting!

Make sure you have cookies enabled and clear your cache.  If it continues to fail try using a different browser.

• Parental controls are not blocking specific web sites

Using 10.6.1 I am unable to block specific web sites through the parental controls. The site in particular I was trying to block ended in .tv/ Is there a problem in snow leopard or is this type of site not able to be blocked?

There are a variety of Adobe services that need to remain enabled in order for Photoshop to work.
I would log in to the administrator account and make sure anything with Adobe is set to "allow."
Then, log in to the restricted account and test. If Photoshop works as expected, you can turn off one item at a time until you find the one that "breaks" Photoshop's functionality.

Hi ,
I'd try starting Firefox in Safe Mode. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide and the Troubleshooting plugins article as well.
There is also some information in Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can and Cannot connect after upgrading Firefox that might be helpful as well.
Finally, since you are having trouble with outlook and your anti-virus program your issue may be because you've been hit with some Malware.
Hopefully this helps!

No problem whatsoever so long as you have a German store account which can only be registered using a German credit card which is registered to a German street address

How can I block bogus web site that keeps trying to update firefox? Need to identify bogus site too.

hello, this is a scam tactic that is trying to trick you into installing malware, so don't download or execute this kind of stuff - updates are handled automatically by firefox so you don't have to download anything (you can always initiate a manual check for updates in firefox > help > about firefox).
you might also want to run a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & kaspersky security scan in order to make sure that there isn't already some sort of malware active on your system that triggers these false alerts.

you could also help by pressing F10 & going to help > report web forgery while you're on this dubious page - this might get the page into the list of malicious sites that get blocked in firefox (the actual list is maintained by google) or when such pages use the firefox logos or trademarks to trick users into downloading malware you could also file it at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/.

• Unable to access a particular web site via FOS

This problem started a week or so ago.  Using different computers (Windows or MAC) I am not able to access the web site www.vibeconference.com which is using IP Address 74.208.213.17 using any of several browsers, Explorer, Firefox, Safari.  In addition, I am not able to ping the url or IP address, I just get timeouts.
All of the above occurs when I use a computer connected to my FIOS Service.  I can access this url just fine using my Cell Phone which uses Verizon Wireless or my wife's using AT&T Wireless
I have tried using OpenDNS's DNS Servers, same problem.  I am baffled by the fact that it only happens with this one web site (that I know of).
I have power cycled my router, checked its settings, no luck.
Any ideas?

OK, I figured out how to use a Free Web Proxy and am able to navigate to the web site.  I am still baffled by what is causing the block but I guess that is the hosting companies issue or some issue between them and Verizon.  I also left my router off overnight so that I would get a different IP address which I did.  So it is not my particular IP address which is getting blocked but probably a range belonging to Verizon.

• Problem just started unable to get on secure web site

Have had WRT54G 6 months no problems getting on my bank secure website. About 10 days ago explorer times out showe problem remote firewall blocking access. called bank called comcast hooked up to comcast without router could get on banks website. called linksys tried what they suggested my phone call was dropped in the middle think tech was stumped. help

1. Go to start>>run>>type: cmd, click ok. A command prompt will open and you will type: ipconfig /flushdns
2. Reboot the computer and now try to connect to the web site.
3. If you still can not connect to that website, turn-off your firewall and pop-up blockers, try to connect now.
4. If still no connection, do a power cycle:Try a power cycle by removing the power cord from the router, then remove the power cord from the modem, wait 60 seconds, plug back in the modem, then plug in the router, wait about 3 minutes for everything to sync up, and then try to access the web page.
Good Luck,

• Time Capsule blocking one web site.

My Time Capsule is plugged into several PC's and several MAC's. I can't get to my work email web site only with anything that is attached or connected wirelesly to the Time Capsule. If I hardwire a computer directly to my cable modem I can access the site. I've had the Time Capsule for about a month and a half now and it just started blocking this site about three days ago. Any suggestions?

Having this same issue. All sites work fine except for one: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org . I've restored the Time Capsule to default settings, use DHCP to auto config the TC from the modem, same problem. If I plug directly from mac into cable modem, the site works.
The IP resolves fine. I can traceroute to the IP, can ping it, but when I try telnet'ing to the IP on port 80, connection times out. No TC, it works fine. Grrr... really frustrating.

• Macaffee is blocking legitimate web sites but not with IE browser.

hello bobbrue, you have multiple malicious extensions present in your profile.
* first i'd recommend to reset firefox
* run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
* finally after you've completed the steps above please report back in the forum and include the then current troubleshooting information again, so that we can have a final check that everything in your profile seems clean.
thank you

• Local Director unable to detect a failed web site

Hi all,
I have configured the local director to load balance several web sites on two real servers. One of these sites is required to be configured in backup mode.
For some reason the local director is unable to detect the site has gone down (by stopping the site to update the web content), therefore not directing requests to the backup real server.
I am using IIS 5.0, since its quite popular out there, has anyone experienced a similar situation and if so, how did you resolve it?
thanks

Your problem is based in the Operating system, not the Local Director. The LD is a layer 3 device. Microsoft put their application architecture together different from the Unix world, ie: Any ip address bound to a MS box is answered for by the OS - not the application (IIS in this case) If IIS is hosed up the OS will still answer for the IP you have bound to the NIC of the OS - the OS does not care at layer 3 that you want a higher level reply - LD does its availability checking at Layer 3 - the OS layer for MS. In the Unix world when an application is bound to a port - ie: Apache to port 80, then the apache deamon answers for that ip/port - not the OS - Apache panics and it will not respond at Layer 3 - the OS could be fine, but the LD will know that ip/port is not responding and will take the appropriate actions by your LD config.
Check out the httpprobe feature of the LD - it lets you test for a file in a URL inside the LD.
Cheers

• General question 're blocking a web site

I have a pc (belongs to my aunt).  She got suckered by an online support scammer.  They loaded some software that gave them remote access and you know the rest. I have removed the software cleaned out the registry closed ports on the firewall that didn't need to be open and flushed the dns cashe. There is a particular website that when she tries to go there she gets a message that she can not go to that website. I know that it is her computer because when I use my laptop on her network I can get to the site.  I noticed that if I try to do a trace route to that website by the site name tracert replies the site is reachable in one hop and it names the site as www.ammyy.com at127.0.0.1.  As part of cleaning up the computer I removed a piece of software that came from ammyy.com. I've searched the registry for reference to that directing ip address. Also looked for a host file.
Anybody have any thoughts where I can look
Thanks
Mal

Hi Mal,
Can you post back with the following.
1.  What version of Windows is on your aunt's PC?
2.  Have you located the Hosts file and if so, did it look ok?
Regards,
DP-K

• How to block unwanted web sites

Hi I hope you can help my young son keeps going on games websites and I wondered if it was possible to block sites via fire fox.
Regards Jason

Firefox does not have built in parental controls.
Have you tried this --> http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms711320%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
Your firewall may have built-in or optional parental controls. (visit their site)

Not related to your question, but...
You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:

• How i have you stop blocking a web site are page

i have web page that i was using for a very long time but now you will not open it i would like for you to stop blocking that better jet turn off your security i have my own security

thanks. ssl3.0 encrypted connections can be no longer considered secure since an attack vector against them ("POODLE") has become known. please contact the webmaster in charge of this site and urge them to update their encryption to something contemporary.
https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2014/10/14/the-poodle-attack-and-the-end-of-ssl-3-0/
if you want to re-enable ssl 3.0 in firefox you can do that - however keep the consequences in mind, that you will become vulnerable to the attack mentioned above: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named security.tls.version.min. double-click it, change its value to 0 and restart the browser.

• Apple Airport blocks certain web sites. How do I fix this.

My airport has blocked me from my own websites I maintain. After talking to my Internet provider and my domain services, it is the airport that is causing it. I can unplug my Internet cable from the airport and connect directly to my computer and my websites are available. But once I use the airport they are blocked. Please Help.

The AirPort base stations, in themselves, cannot block specific websites or websites in total. Although you have already talked to your ISP and web host, the more likely scenario is one or both are blocking your AirPort's WAN side hardware MAC address. This is where I would pursue your troubleshooting further.
